Hold Hands and Blow Bubbles
Tomorrow I will wake to see you lying next to me and I will watch you sleep.
I will gently touch your face to wake you and cover you with kisses.
Tomorrow will be the first time we truly get to spend time alone together.
We can stay in bed as long as we want and watch the birds outside eat and play.
Tomorrow we will go for a walk in the park, hold hands and blow bubbles.
We will wash the car in the driveway and end up covered in soap and water.
Tomorrow you will hide the remote while I make your morning coffee.
We will make a dozen sack lunches and go down town and hand them out.
Tomorrow we will kiss every time one of us says ‘Um'.
We will have pie for lunch and skip dessert.
Tomorrow in the morning we will tell every person we meet what the current time is, in Afghanistan.
In the evening we will thank everyone we meet.

Why I Run
1. Almost everyday I am able to see you
If for an hour or less

Unfortunately my Mother is tired from school, my Sister getting ready for bed
My Dad is in the chair, drowsy, bobbing his head
Twilight, my dog jumps for me in glee
“Come take me out Ry-Ry” so I believe she thinks
“I have to go and pee”
Thunder, my cat’s rancorous mowing goes and floods the room
Even though it is annoying
I don’t think I would hit her with a broom
Sleepiness is on to us, time to get in bed
Now I will think about Caitlin and I inside my head
Weariness comes quick, and school looms after dawn
Tomorrow’s afternoon will be terrible
My parents want me to work on the lawn
Now I know I’m not good with rhyme schemes
But I am a poet be it at that
I am definitely no Dr. Seuss who wrote Cat in the Hat
His book Oh the Places You Will Go is better than this poem
Showing the places you are the safest
And knowing where to find them
To summarize this poem
I will make it simple as fact

the time has come for the arrival
of this stranger
from a very faraway land. you meet him.
make him sit. ask him if he needs a drink
and you give him
gin, beer, whatever that pleases him.
you make him comfortable
at last
in your home. make him find his room.
the pillows and blankets
all to his choosing. the dinner that you serve.
the shower that he has to take.
the nice conversations you will have
for a while
with this stranger. you care for him
you assure him.you tell him
you miss him. you bring him to the mirror
to see how beautiful has he become
for that time that you have been
