What We Are Really Trying To Achieve

what are we really trying
to achieve in a page?

it is like a room with all things
out of place,
towel on the floor, misplaced pen
in the bath tub
a cat inside the cabinet
behaving like
your skeletons,
your glass is on the window
like a crazy dog wanting to get out
from the frame,

what we have are misfits, pieces in chaos,
times interpolated, interlaced fabrics,
seemingly without a design
improprieties,

we have art, we put things in order
make them beautiful again
back to its ordered beginnings

in the midst of these storms
tornadoes that dispel our belief systems
we go back to work, back to art and
system,

we are tying to piece things
threads into a fabric of beauty
of thoughts in grace
of gentle dreams, of peaceful places

these are...and i
am.

Some Things You Can't Take Back

Well she was lookin out the window
And I was starin at the door
The dog was sleepin on the sofa
This place has never been this quiet before
You cant pretend it never happened
You cant pretend its still the same
You cant say you were only jokin
You cant keep thinkin things can go on this way
CHORUS
Some things you cant take back
Though you wish you could
Some things you cant take back
Though the glass has been broke
And the milk has been spilled
And your loves on the line
Some things you cant take back
When someone says theres no tomorrow
When the writings on the wall
After all have cried and spoken
And your poor heart has taken such a fall
REPEAT CHORUS
If I could reset the clock and go back in time
Id erase the thoughts that went through my mind
You know I never would leave
And Id still have you with me
You cant pretend it never happened
You cant pretend its still the same
You cant say you were only jokin
You cant keep thinkin things can go on this way
REPEAT CHORUS
Some things you cant take back
Cause in the cold light of day the pieces all blew away
And now Im livin a lie
Some things you cant take back

Turn

Seeing things, going places
Living out of suitcases
Everyday's like a dream
I find myself talking to shadows
Taking the train of youth back home again
'Cause I don't wanna be a hero
But I don't wanna be a zero
And I don't wanna sit here wasting time
I just want a place inside your mind
I wish that I could turn the clocks right back
It's easy to forget just what you've got
Seeing things, going places
Meeting all kinds of faces
Every day's like a scene
I find myself going through phases
Trying to find somewhere that I can be me
'Cause I don't wanna be your hero
But I don't wanna be a zero
But I don't wanna sit here wasting time
I just want a place inside you mind
I wish that I could turn the clocks right back
It's easy to forget just what you've got
I'm not trying to find an easy way
Picking up the pieces of a page
I'm looking for a place inside you're mind
'Cause I don't wanna leave it all behind
So come on, give in
There's no beauty in this pain
So come on, connect
We've gotta find ourselves again
'Cause I don't wanna be your hero
And I don't wanna sit here wasting time
I just want a place inside you're mind
I wish that I could turn the clocks right back
It's easy to forget just what you've got
I'm not trying to find an easy way
Picking up the pieces of the page
I'm looking for a place inside you're mind
'Cause I don't wanna leave it all behind
And I don't wanna sit here wasting time
I just want a place inside you mind
I wish that I could turn the clocks right back
It's easy to forget just what you've got

He'll Be Back

I know better than anybody how it feels to want somebody so bad after you break up
Still
(Looking for that phone call)
Still
(Even when they don't)
Still ain't ready to walk away and call it all over
Act like you wasn't listening when they told ya
They don't wanna be with you anymore
Stuck in your ways, you choose to ignore
'Cause in your mind, you're still together
Thought it would last but there's no forever
Walked out on you with no call, no letter
When he realize it don't get no better
Chorus:
He'll be back
To make up for the lonely days
He'll be back
When things ain't working out his way
He'll be back
When he sees that it's not the same
He'll be back (he'll be back)
He'll be back (he'll be back)
He'll be back
He knows he's gonna need his lady
He'll be back
When his boys say he must be crazy
He'll be back
He'll know he made a big mistake
He'll be back (he'll be back)
He'll be back (he'll be back)
He'll be back
You don't want to believe it but you see it happening
Wakes you up out of your sleep, out of the dreams you're having
Still
(Looking for his return)
Still
(Hoping that he's gonna learn)
Wake up and realize the truth, make some time for you
What's he trying to do to you
Miss him more as days go by
Try your hardest not to cry and keep hope alive
'Cause in your mind, you're still together
Thought it would last but there's no forever
Walked out on you with no call, no letter
When he realize it don't get no better
He'll be back
To make up for the lonely days
He'll be back

He'll be back
He'll know he made a big mistake
He'll be back (he'll be back)
He'll be back (he'll be back)
(He'll be back)
(Thinking)
(Every)
(Wanting)
(Haunting)
(Thinking)

Now And Then

I think this time you've said enough to make me want to leave this place
Still I keep coming back for more of the same to fan the dying flame
Here inside these walls that seem to move a little closer every day
There must be a way out of this crazy game we play out to the end
Let us just pretend a while
Think about the good things now and then
I think this time that was the best time that we two had ever known
We tried the handle of the house upon the shore and found the open door
Once inside we found a curious moonbeam doing dances on the floor
We were only playing like two children who had stayed away from school
Two of us could not be wrong
Heaven knows who keeps the golden rule
I think this time we've learned enough to know that nothing is the same
But still the pounding of my heart hasn't changed and leavin's so
strange
Here among my thoughts of you I find a gentle longing to be free
There must be a way out of this crazy game we play out to the end
Take away the in-between
Think about the good things now and then
We will see the day when you or I will stay or face up to the end
Let us just pretend a while
And think about the good things now and then

Learning To Love All The Mess

three plates remain unwashed
last night the cockroaches feast on the remains
of pork oil and morsels of rice
and bread
the dining chairs are not in place
looking like twigs in the park
after a storm

the table is littered with spilled sauce
the table cloth is stained
alcoholic
and the spoons and forks are still
having catchup on their tongues
and tails

the floor is foul with your dog's urine
and socks and shoes are roaming on the
living room

you guess it right
the universe is a big chaos

and so is this house
which is out of order
like a sink with leaking faucets

you want all your life to be in order
you wish a smooth and tidy place
vested with its own system

name-tagged and cabinetized
pieces

but it simply is not just
the way things work out

your dreams are silly

chaos and pandemonium are the orders of the
days of our lives
and so here i am with this firm resolve
to the flexibility of adaptability
for my survival

since disorder is the law
so must i obey it

to perfect my life and to put order
to my dreams and
properly accept this world's disposition
so must i
love chaos as well

go with the random flow of pandemonium
enjoy the errors
love the mistakes

and i swear to myself
beginning this ruinous day
that i,
wholeheartedly
must love all these mess

Things Are Getting Better

Well I worked for a week and I got no pay.
(things getting better.)
Well my babys coming back home to stay
(things getting better.)
Well shes coming back home, but I havent got a dime
(things getting better.)
But Ive got my love to keep me fine[? ].
(things getting better.)
Oh-oh
Things getting better.
Things getting better.
Well since my babys been away,
(things getting better.)
Well things got worse from day to day.
(things getting better.)
Well now my babys come back to me.
(things getting better.)
Yeah, itll get better, wait and see.
(things getting better.)
Oh-oh
Things getting better.
Things getting better.
Oh-oh
Things getting better.
Things getting better.
Well I pawned my watch and I sold my car.
(things getting better.)
The money Ive got wouldnt get me far.
(things getting better.)
But I dont mind now that youve packed.
(things getting better.)
Its a fact, that
Things getting better.
Things getting better.
Oh-oh
Things getting better.
Things getting better.

The unity of all things

The unity of all things
is a belief which some
would consider pointless;

others might regard,
as insidious; suspect a lurking
hidden agenda; some
might says it’s useless and unproveable,

declare pathetic fallacy, and hurry on
to life’s more pressing details and specifics;

I can only say that there are things
so useful to the mind, although
they cannot be proved;

I’ll say that holding this concept,
this glorious possibility, in the mind
makes one more inquisitive, be it
journalist or writer, or simply
human being: seeking always
the causes of all things beyond
what they profess to be;

so too for poets, swimming in a sea
of metaphor – of all things joined
in one more radiant meaning which lights up
the life of every thing; as when
a housewife dusts and polishes
a room into a home; bestows
her being on our space;

the unity of all things
makes space for all things;
Creation promises some order;
behind the smaller things, the greater;

a place for grace, for ordered life,
for hope, and charity, and love;

a boundless place; a grace;
a graceful space.

The Next Poem

this is the next poem that i am telling you about.
it wants to tell you something, but not in secret really,
i am open, and i like open fields, like open ideas
wanting to embrace and be embraced by the world.

absence too, is open. The open arms wait for the coming
of absence. Absence is a wide space wanting to be filled by
love, and love is elusive, and love is unresponding to the
emergencies we are in.

but let me not talk about it. Let me tell you and take you back
to what i have started. I like the mirror in the living room broken
into a hundred pieces, all in the name of love.

i like to have as many mirrors as i can have. Tiny broken pieces.
I will take one. And all i want in this short life that we have,
the life of a fruitfly inside that experimental cupboard,
or that transparent cellophane, let death come.

i have this piece of broken glass. I want to reflect my light.
Do you like it? I want to reflect the light of God, do you like it?

Take it for what it is. Each piece has a reflective index of its own.
The face value of things. Do you like it?

I Am Free, I Tell You So...

your hair is in disarray
nails are dirty
and just like your feelings
all those little things
that hang on your body
are in chaos,

i look at you and you stare at me
and i look back and you laugh

triumphant perhaps in what you are finally
from an ordered past to a
present pandemonium you come to me and

shout at me that you are free,

i wonder, is freedom actually chaos?

i am free too,
i have worked my freedom and earned it

i comb my hair
i trim my fingernails
i wash my body
i filter my thoughts
i put things in their
proper order
i exercise propriety

i choose my words,
i plan my day
i only buy what i need for the day
i write my diary

i decide what book to read
i weigh things
i throw away what destroys me
i don't put myself to danger
i protect myself
i defend what is right
i speak the truth

and i will tell you too,

' i am free! '

Achieve Goals of Dreams!

Innocent animal pleasure of child is harmless!
Playful quest urges him to do so to get satisfaction.
With a little knowledge he likes pictures, colours
and enjoys beautiful things in dress and all things!

Perfectionist loves to see beauty in all activities,
Loves beauty of Nature, beautiful things ever,
Loves to do in a beautiful way whatever he loves;
Aesthetic nature grows since childhood on sure!

Then thinking age begins him to feel about drawbacks;
Seeks loneliness in Peaceful places of Nature at first;
His taste of beauty diverts him towards Nature's beauty:
Sea, sky, misty hills, snow mountains, smooth rivers,
Green meadows, smiling flowers, moon and stars....!

He goes to such places often far from the madding lads;
Gets peace of mind and communes with Nature in toto;
Becomes also a mystic soon enjoying the bliss endless!
He regains new spirit full of enthusiasm and begins life
Again from the scratch to achieve goals of his dreams...!

Back To The Rocking Horse

Like this
All the kings horses
And all the kings men
Aint got a hope in hell
Of puttin my pieces back together again
Ive seen things in my life that should never be seen
Im talkin things thatd make your skin crawl
I wanna go back to a simpler time
Where nothin really mattered at all
You see, I cant sleep all night long
Tossin and a-turnin
Thoughts they keep a-churnin
I cant sleep all night long
As a matter of fact
I just wanna get back
Chorus:
Back to the rockin horse
Back to where it all began
Take me back-back to the rockin horse
And start all over again
My parents think Im crazy
And the doctor says I cracked
But they dont understand me
Cause I just wanna go back
You see I cant sleep all night long
Tossin and a-turnin
Thoughts they keep a-churnin
I cant sleep all night long
As a matter of fact
I just wanna get back

The Artists.....

the role of a true artist
is to put order to the messy state of things
chopped lines are interconnected again
colors are categorized to a harmonious blending
a room of scattered old and dirty clothes
bedsheets in disarray
pillows on the floor
paper scratches and pens and ink spilled
the artist picks them all up
and puts them properly back to the places
where they must be

for at the beginning there was an order of perfection
but then this universe bangs itself against a black space of a wall
and goes into an accelerated entropy
a scattering, a chaos pursuing upon another chaos
expanding litters of planets and stars

and God the Artist gathers them all into One
Harmony, the Silenced Storm, the Wellness and Wholeness
of These All

We are all these Artists, God's Children looking for Peace.

The Voice Says In My Heart

Dreaming of a life of peace,
Though I am shattered to pieces.
A damaged spirit, resulting from a defective mind.
Broken and irreparable, so I think.
But my thoughts got me here in the first place.
On my knees, looking up, I see the light.
Shining down on me from above.
It connects with the light inside.
The voices in my head silence.
My mind clears, true vision appears.
'Pick up the pieces.', the soft voice whispers from within.
'Many pieces, put together, makes a piece.'
'That is what you seek isn't it? '
'Give them to me, for the pieces are heavy'.
'What I have created, only I can fix.'
'It was broken by you in the first place.'
'Because I was not your first place.'
'I was your last. I was your end.'
'But now you have reached me, '
'Let me show you what I can do.'
'For I come with an eternal warranty and a misery back guarantee.'
Piece by piece, I was put back together.
Until I was one.
Not one with my thoughts, but one with my maker.
No longer listening to what the voices in my head say.
But to what the voice says in my heart.
As it whispers to me, I can feel it's voice.
'Peace.'

My Life

I would really like to know you better
But sometimes Im afraid that its not meant to be
I would like to believe in something higher
But I cant get a grip on all the little things
When the night comes I cannot sit still you see
And the years they have not been so kind to me
Got a gallery of figures standing all in a row
And every single figure has a soul of its own
But I never look back
Never look back
Dont turn your back on me
(chorus)
(hey yeah) my life has come unraveled again
Like so many threads
(hey yeah) my life has begun unfolding
In so many pieces
(hey yeah) my life has come unraveled again like
So many threads in the wind - drift away - drift away
Theres a time and a place
For understanding
And a time when action speaks louder than words
And I dont seem to get no indications
And I dont know how to get through to you
And when time like the pyramids
Has worn away
All the mountains and the valleys
Of the words that we say
We have got to make sure that something remains
If we lose each other weve got no one to blame
So never look back
Never look back
Dont turn your back on me
(chorus)

Only Lonely

Only lonely by hootie & the blowfish
Hello again
Your words they make me smile
As I drift away
In my little room upstairs
Oh I spend my nights
Imagining your face, your touch
Then I realize
How I dont even know your name
If we could share our time
Would I disappoint your fantasies?
But I believe that I could be the one youre needing
cause im
Only lonely on the inside
Didnt mean to take away your dreams
Im only lonely on the inside
When you close your eyes to your deepest thoughts
And I could start to give apologies
For all the stupid things that I will say and i
Will do
If we should ever cross the same place at the same
Time
Would your world skip a beat cause it was me?
If we could share our life
Would I disappoint your memories?
And I believe that you could be the one Im needing
And im
Only lonely on the inside
Didnt mean to take away your dreams
Im only lonely on the inside
When you close your eyes to your deepest thoughts
If I could give back your hopes, your joys, your
Treasures
Dont you think that I would change my world?
But theres so many things trying to pull us
Together
And even though were far apart I can still watch
You walk away
Only lonely on the inside
Only lonely on the inside
When you close your eyes, what do you see?
Only lonely on the inside
Didnt mean to take away your dreams
Im only lonely on the inside
In your deepest thoughts, what do you see?
Only lonely on the inside
I didnt mean, I didnt mean, to steal your dreams
Away
Im only lonely on the inside
When you close your eyes, in your deepest thoughts,
Do you see me?
Only lonely on the inside, Im only lonely when
Youre gone
Only lonely on the inside, I see you babe, I see you
Only lonely on the inside, only lonely, only lonely
On the inside
Im only lonely on the inside

Sonnet: To an Absconded Child

Come back, come back, come back my little child;
The love we bear for you is always to true;
The world is bad; Thou art a Lamb so mild;
Come back, come back and start your life anew!

In anger, people may do foolish things;
The home’s the best one place on earth, you know;
Don’t o’er-react to problems life just brings;
Don’t feel ashamed or guilty anyhow.

Not one of us bears hatred towards you;
We love you much and cannot miss you long;
How can we eat or sleep or our work do?
Come back, come back come back, let’s sing a song.

Oh, without you, gone is our life’s sunshine;
Come back; don’t hesitate; things will be fine.

Ask 9: Nostalgia sets the mood,

Take these etchings from my mind,

Stepping back to take in the view
Tell me something I never knew
Take me to the places you’ve been
Let me in to the things you’ve seen

A soul on ice
Behind the sun
Turn the page
The end begun

Why is it we can’t leave these ghosts
Behind us in our path?
Stop now babe, whilst your ahead.
If you don’t stop soon, you’ll soon be dead.

Playground antics, shattered illusions
It’s all getting to my head.
One more time to see it through,
Once more dance alone with you

Remember back to way back when
We would loose the game and then
Laughing when our time was done
Having all we needed, wanting for none.

All given to you in dreams,
Gifts from moon beam maidens.
Ripped up at the seams,
Going back, back

Nostalgia sets the mood,
Passing faces stare blankly,
We all know who to thank,
The passage of time dissolving
Slowly as queues in a bank.

Would u go back in time

Would you go back and relive painful times?
Would you go back when times weren't in line?
The hurt and pain of death?
The happy time when you first got your pet?
Would you go back when nothing went together,
Nothing rhymed, and nothing was forever?
Going back in time would unbury hurtful things.
Going back in time would show your success was once a dream.
Would you go back to say 'Good-bye'?
Would you go back to say 'Hi'?
Do you believe by going back things would be better?
Do you think you can go back and destroy hurtful letters?
The past should be left in the past and sometimes forgotten,
and the future may become even more shocking.

On Crumpled Things

the brittle piece of chalk
crumples on the floor from the
hands of an angry teacher
her feet stamping upon
us, fragile and no longer
eager to learn
our first view on the violent
nature of those
monsters behaving
like gods

on crumpled things turning
into powder
in the same manner that
bodies turn
to ash
to dust

but must these gods know
inside those crumpled things and bodies
is the air that they have
not seen
the faces of our souls
passing through the storms and rain
rising to find for once
their homes in the sky
