University Woes Circa 80
of university schedules
subject loads, the rush to the room,
the rainy exits,
the crams for the finals,
horrors of the night recitations,
it was more of a nightmare
the professors only talk to themselves,
there was no eye contact possible
the people there are indifferent
the grouping rests only on their own class,
i was isolated
lonely and drunk
to my own poetry and the quest
for the best
literature
they keep rushing back at me
these university woes
perhaps i need another round of
lying down with freud and
jung.

That's what causing problems in our world
That's what causing problems in our world
people without the moral on the board
I wish there was a university with moral degree
everybody has to have it from the boss to employee
All they teach our children is profit and more profit
do it even you have to legally or ilegally cheat
Use your knowledge to make money
you deserve to be rich, hell with everybody
So what if we have so many professionals graduate from best university
If they are insensitive to the poverty and enviromental problems in our society
We human like to blame problems on everybody around us
Even though we are part of the problems, so stop making so much fuss
A university degree without moral back up graduates a monster
who goes to the society and rub the people like a gangster

He never saw thirty three
He never saw thirty-three
and although he aimed
to be a great teacher
and had a university degree,
was a good writer
and loved poetry
he was struck down
before his time
by a illness
diagnosed too late
by university doctors
that didn’t want
to believe that he was ill
until his life was taken by fate
and while his heart
burnt for his fellow men
he tried to reach
for something more
and his eyes was set
on another shore.

Violence or the threat of violence must never be permitted to influence the actions or judgments of the university community. Once it does, the community, almost by definition, ceases to be a university. It is for this reason that from time immemorial expulsion has been the primary instrument of university discipline.

Academics often discount the value of top-rated sports programs in helping to develop a campus life and in contributing to the overall success of a college or university. Like it or not, the sports programs a college or university has are the front page of that university.

I don't look to find an educated person in the ranks of university graduates, necessarily. Some of the most educated people I know have never been near a university.

What we become depends on what we read after all of the professors have finished with us. The greatest university of all is a collection of books.

You don't say to a university professor who is immersed in a particular subject that they should get a life. They are encouraged to enjoy their subject and to pass it on.

The Lesbian Philosophy Teacher
i guess it does not really matter
whether she is a lesbian or not
at the university she teaches
the philosophy of man and she
ticks, bites, slashes, and rubs
our minds with the sharp knife
of her understanding as to
who we are, what we are and
what we are apt to
this becoming of being crawls
from her very tongue
the one that she uses to make love
love, to make love work
in an age of hatred and war
her fingers are gentle and i know
how they are used to make
her lover feel the love that much
often real men deny her
outside the doors of the university
she lets out smoke
and somehow she exits regrets
that pleasure and its extremes
can be obtained not inside the book
at the libraries of this world
but in the intimacies inside her
locked room with someone
whose name she cannot even
reveal for fear of reprisals
she has to earn her bread to live
and at the same time
make her life a secret rose
a tight bud, a falling leaf
a twisted twig, a hidden island.

I think the University of Texas has the chance to become the finest public university in the country.
I just want to go to university and have fun - I want to be an ordinary student. I'm only going to university. It's not like I'm getting married - though that's what it feels like sometimes.

I now teach at American University and the University of Virginia.

The university's business is the conservation of useless knowledge; and what the university itself apparently fails to see is that this enterprise is not only noble but indispensable as well, that society can not exist unless it goes on.
