Uncharted Terrain

When I was just a boy
My daddy sat me on his knee
He told me that he loved
Me and that we're a family
He spoke about the world
And all the possibilities
Then he held me in his arms
And said be what you want to be
He paved the way for me to follow
Uncharted terrain now had a name
It's how I got over
When I became a man
My daddy said come walk with me
He said beeing a man
Comes with responsibility
And all is keep your word
To the best of your ability
Then he looked me in my eyes
And said it's time to set you free
He paved the way for me to follow
Uncharted terrain now had a name
It's how I got over
He paved the way for me to follow
Uncharted terrain now had a name
It's how I got over
He paved the way for me to follow
Uncharted terrain now had a name
It's how I got over

Getting Past Face Values

Getting past face values.
Divulge your secrets stars.
We have collided with mars.
Just once more.
Let me open up from inside out.
The old photograph reappears.
Rehabilitation nears.
Can I do it?
Make it or break it.
The lake is filled full again.
So crystal blue.
If only I can fit into these shoes.
You have no clue what I'm going through.

Get past the face values.
Divulge your secrets stars.
We have collided with mars.
Do I measure up to par.
Wishing to angels in the dark.
Skeletons come upon me and
I say go away.
This time I finally fix my mistakes with a rake.
I'm dragging the pieces back in.
Its another puzzle.
Can I make them fit.
Pleasantries gone amiss.
They turn into a vipers kiss.
I just cant help it.
What good have I done to deserve this.

Getting past face values.
Divulge your secrets stars.
We have collided with mars.
I have opened a new door.
Where does it lead?
The beautiful let down.
Just lost waiting to be found.
Turn around. Here it comes.
You have been summoned for a higher cause.
Bow down and meditate.
Concentrate before its to late.
Planning it out as if you already know.
Adapt to the enviroment.
Some situations need such delicacy.
Dont step on to many toes.
The giants have fallen so its time to go.

Getting past face values.
Devulge your secrets stars.
We have collided with mars.
Now I shall disembark and leave an everlasting mark.

Disturb us O Lord

Disturb us O Lord.

Stir our spirit,
When we are too pleased with ourselves,
When our dreams have become true because
We dreamed too little.

When we have arrived in safety because
We sailed too close to the shore.

When because of the abundance of things we possess we have lost our thirst for the water of life.

When having fallen in love with time
We have ceased to dream of eternity.

Make us bold to venture out to the sea during a storm,
So that losing sight of land
We shall find the stars.

I don't consider myself a pessimist. I think of a pessimist as someone who is waiting for it to rain. And I feel soaked to the skin.

Art Is Spirit!

Art is spirit!
Art is creativity,
Art is love;
And like the muse of your care in the land of beauty,
But, my mind writes to teach many.

Land of peace and land of war!
Heart of love and heart of hatred;
Let the spirit of art control the human race with love,
For in unity, we can put this world into a better place always.

Asun of the Revolution

In memory of Sr. Asuncion C. Martinez, ICM,84
+ July 21,1994

Who/what shall separate her from the land
That birthed her and now receives her into its sanctum
The land she helped defend against its desecrators
The land she opened us to as womanness of our being
Redeemed and reappropriated she is volcanoes
Of prophetic anger and flowers of justing love

Who/what shall separate her from the sky
That assumed her dreams and prayers for justice and peace
Her sweet incense of sacrifice and celebration
The sky wide as her embrace of the poor in body and spirit
Remembers and releases her as care of light and shadow
As night shedding tears like shooting stars

Who/what shall separate her from the people she served
Of picket line and rally and violent confrontations
Who touched the hem of her wisdom and compassion
Of her golden years to heal broken spirit in a civil war
Sunbeam of mission and starlight of conscience is she
Of happy memory long into the bloodlines of future

Wooden Ships

Their sails fluttered in the prevailing winds
as the wooden ships sailed into the horizons
looking for new lands to conquer.
Across oceans with waters unknown
in days when some thought
the world was flat
and if you sailed so far out
you just simply fell off.
The sailors were superstitious
seeing monsters in most living things.
A giant squid became a Kraken
and a myth of ocean lore.
However, these sailors were brave men
and against dangers unknown sailed
to chart new lands
many thought did not exist.
Some went for riches;
others went on a voyage of discovery.
Some came back to tell tall tales.
While other went down in their wooden ships
as in perilous waters sailed,
and slowly the world was discovered
by these sailors in wooden ships.

Stick By You

There'll be no moon tonight
And the stars won't light the sky
There are women on the streets,
But there's no loving in their eyes
Feeling weary, tired and wishing
I was standing in your doorway now
There'll be dancing flames
Something special cooking slow
Perfume heavy and all the lanterns turned down low
Oh that lucky, oh that lucky man
Who is standing in your doorway now
I'm a wandering man
You'll never tie me down
Lifelong sailor, but how I wish I was homeward bound
At this moment tired and wishing
I was standing in your doorway now

Sonnet: What the Stars Foretell?

Look at the stars, a handiwork of God!
Who knows the mystery of their twinkling light?
Like eyes of God, they shimmer light so odd,
In countless numbers, studding sky of night.

What is their role in human destiny?
What is the need for stars at all, I ask?
They seem to depict faith and harmony,
Whose secrets to unravel- is man’ task.

What beauteous objects fixed light-years away!
Yet, God intended stars for some purpose;
But man can ne’er find it out any day;
God’s glory, perhaps they depict to us.

When stars can look mysterious to man’s eyes,
How much more God must be- who never dies!

Pharaoh

Hey....... Pharaoh!
So what is it you think you know?
As above so below?
You will never grow if you aim too low!

You remember the magic and the gods,
But you forgot where they came from,
You are still playing in the sand,
You should be flying amongst the stars,

While you stumble around,
Looking for fertile ground,
Our bodies fill the mound!
Hearts tightly wound,
Waiting for you to run aground,

You still trying to keep their secrets,
Secrets you don't understand,
Wish you could just be a man!
Oh lord deliver me from this land!

Hey....... Pharaoh!
So what is it you think you know?
As above so below?
You will never grow if you aim too low!

Look deep within your heart, find the truth,
Where do we come from, us on planet earth?
Who are we and where are we going to?
What is our true reality?
Time for you to fulfil your destiny,

Kings must lead and serve the many,
Before they can fly amongst the stars!

Hey....... Pharaoh!
So what is it you think you know?
As above so below?
You will never grow if you aim too low!
Hey......Pharaoh, who do you think you are?
Hey......Pharaoh, who do you think you are?

Whispering

Written by gerry beckley, 1998
Found on human nature.
I hear you in my sleep
Ive fallen in too deep
Sometimes its hard to keep
Secrets, secrets
Its like a breath of air
I feel it everywhere
And still I cant declare
Secrets, secrets
Gotta keep whispering on the phone at night
Gotta keep whispering, gotta get it right
Gotta keep whispering til the morning light
Secrets, secrets
I need you by my side
Cant say I havent tried
Sometimes its hard to hide
Secrets, secrets
Gotta keep whispering on the phone at night
Gotta keep whispering, gotta get it right
Gotta keep whispering til the morning light
Secrets, secrets
Gotta keep whispering on the phone at night
Gotta keep whispering, gotta get it right
Gotta keep whispering til the morning light
Secrets, secrets
Secrets, secrets
Gotta keep whispering on the phone at night
Gotta keep whispering, gotta get it right
Gotta keep whispering til the morning light
Secrets, secrets
Gotta keep whispering on the phone at night
Gotta keep whispering, gotta get it right
Gotta keep whispering til the morning light
Secrets, secrets
Gotta keep whispering on the phone at night
Gotta keep whispering, gotta get it right
Gotta keep whispering til the morning light

The Human Spirit

The human spirit never dies.
The human spirit always tries
to stay alive,
always thrive.
It's fierce.
It's bold
through darkl and cold.
Although it fears
it still adheres
to something larger
than itself.
It faces all adversities
that sometimes brings it
to its knees.
Still it rises through it all.
It stands again,
refuses to fall.
For the human spirit says it all
about
who we really are.

Sonnet: Undaunted is Man

By nature, man will tend to reach the stars!
He knows too well, he can’t grasp even one;
But that’s the way he will soon land in Mars;
All obstacles he’ll face another sun.

Most impossible things are always so;
The human spirit is adventurous,
Willing to hardships ever undergo;
The human heart is always courageous.

Nothing deters the determined person,
Ready to sacrifice his life of God;
His love for Nature is the main reason;
Despite all foibles, he will get reward.

The truth of life is there’s much Hope for Man,
The Hope that grew even when life began!

Listen To The Lion *

And all my love come down
All my love come tumblin' down
All my love come tumblin' down
All my love come tumblin' down
Oh, listen listen
To the lion
Oh, listen listen listen
To the lion...
Inside of me
Oh, oh, oh
And I shall search my soul
I shall search my very soul
And I shall search my very soul
I shall search my very so-o-oul
For the lion
For the lion
For the lion
For the lion...
Inside of me
Oh, oh, yeah
And all my tears have flown
All my tears like water flown
And all my tears like water flown
All my tears like-a water flown
For the lion
For the lion
For the lion
For the lion...
Inside of me
(growling, scatting, etc.)
Listen to the lion (repeated 14 times)
(more scatting)
And we sailed, and we sailed...
And we sailed, and we sailed...
And we sailed, and we sailed...
... sailed to Caledonia
And we sailed, and we sailed,
And we sailed, and we sailed, and we sailed...
Away from Denmark
Way up to Caledonia
Away from Denmark
Way up to Caledonia
And we sailed, and we sailed, and we sailed...
All around the World
And we sailed..., and we sailed..., and we sailed...
Looking for a brand new start
And we sailed...
And we sailed, and we sailed...
All around the World
... a brand new start
Looking for a brand new start
Looking for a brand new start
Looking for a brand new start
And we sailed, and we sailed, and we sailed...
And we sailed...
Away from the Golden Gate
Way up to the New York City

Look Through Any Doorway

Look through any doorway,
Each life will tell its story.
See the joy and heartbreak,
For all the world to see.
Shes on the city streets,
On her face is desolation.
Just a kid from out of town,
In the land of hope and glory.
Look through any doorway,
Each life will tell its story.
See the joy and heartbreak,
For all the world to see.
Open up your heart.
Open up the highway,
The road will stretch before you,
For there will be a new day,
Where love will show the way.
Only shadows of the world we left behind,
Open up your heart,
Many shadows of the past, so dont look back.
Look at the wars,
A part of greed affects us all
Theres a better way, despite what they do or say,
People of the world.
Look through any doorway,
Tell me what you see.
Open up your heartache,
And love will show the way.
Searching for the way,
Through all the doubt and sorrow.
Days turn into years,
But well build a new tomorrow.
Look through any doorway,
Each life will bear its treasure.
Open up your heartache,
And love will show the way.
All the shadows of the world we left behind,
Open up your heart.
Many shadows of the past, so dont look back,
Open up your heart.
Open up your heart.
Look through any doorway,
Tell me what you see.
Look through any doorway.
