To Fleur De Sac
this is what i learned
from that struggle
i won because i fought
i did not beg
the old masters taught us well
no one gives you things inside
a silver platter
there are no clean hands anymore
neither is there a need to shed blood
you make me win because i deserve winning
you have been convinced
i know how it is not to bow
not to stoop
with dignity i demand what is due me
the years are on my side,
my solitude is my sole guide
into the place where i must wear my laurels.

As If It Was Theirs On Demand
There is one thing I've learned,
About the use of my time.
I've learned through the years,
Not to let anyone abuse it...
As if it was theirs on demand.
And common sense?
Well...
I have discovered,
That it is not so common.
In fact the absence of it,
Can be expected.
And rare it is...
If it appears at all.
And the doing of something for others?
One should stop and think about that quick.
Since many people don't appreciate,
What it is for them that is done to assist.
Many will complain as if the time taken,
By someone who has gone out of their way...
Is not what they prefer.
They will have the nerve to say,
Something else desired...
Is what they deserve.
There is one thing I've learned,
About the use of my time.
I've learned through the years,
Not to let anyone abuse it...
As if it was theirs on demand.
And what I have chosen to do today...
Is to satisified and please my own thirst first!

Wolf At The Door
Wake me, shake me from my sleepiness
Wide-eyed, every tale is taller than the one before
Inside out and upside down
Don't make a sound
The wolf's at the door
And all your streetfighting years
Won't help you anymore
Lead me, guide me home old scatterbrain
Blog it, every smile is wider than the one before
Inside out and upside down
Don't make a sound
The wolf's at the door
And all your streetfighting years
Won't help you anymore
Inside out and upside down
And don't make a sound
So I live and feel
Oh no, don't make a sound
The wolf's at the door
And all your streetfighting years
Won't help you anymore

Things Do Not Seem To Be Them After A Careful Seeing
a spoon
and a fork and they seem to appear
with food on a silver platter
when we talk we talk like poets now
after years
a spoon is no longer just a spoon
and neither is the fork
and neither is the food the food that we
eat on the table
and neither is the silver platter a mere
silver platter as it seems to be
for a spoon may be me and i may also be
a tongue and i could be a tongue to your
fork, a protrusion that stabs me like a knife
and the silver platter could be our mind
a garden where we put every seed
and the table and the cloth that covers it
with leaves and flowers
myabe our worlds, covered and uncovered
with some intricate designs
this could be our world now. a world of poems
where everything is a roll of sensitive skin
a mind so fertile with its array of metaphors
and similes and
exaggerations, and these make us so happy
we tiptoe, we choose the word, we equate
every object to a meaning, we dance to a lot
of its nuances, and then we touch and then
we are so silent. we choose not to hurt.

Isle Of Man
Nice place
Clean water
Fresh air
Blue skies
Like pirates
We tried it
We took what we deserved
Half million
Years later
Wed used up
Our reserves
Were crying
what happened?
We get what we deserve
We get what we deserve
We get instead the isle of man
The isle of man
Ive wandered
Through forests
With our garbage
Waist-high
Cant clean it
I mean it
We get what we deserve
Rainy mornings
Dry evenings
Its growing
On my nerves
Just gases
You fascists
You get what you deserve
You get what you deserve
You get instead the isle of man
The isle of man
Im writing
This letter
So no one
Will forget
Some future
Cave dweller
Will find these notes an isle of man

I Live Here Now
Verse i
She couldnt take it anymore
So she got to steppin out the door
So many years you beat her down
Now youve got another one
Better straighten up
Theres a new girl in town
Hook
I live here now
The other woman had to leave
Cuz she was trippin
Now the right one has your keys
I live here now
And Ill never take from you the things she took
That just wont do
Verse ii
So many years she lived for you
So many tears she cried them too (she wet the pillow)
So many memories that wont erase yes
But shes never comin back
Dont you look for her
Cuz Ive taken her place
Bridge
I cant be that woman who let you break her down
I cant be that woman who let you make her frown
Cuz now I see that I deserve better than youve given me
And more I deserve more, I deserve more!

In my other life ~ ~ ~ Song Lyric's
In my other life, I marched troops in formations
I manned the gun and turned them into men
In my other life, I had so many wayward women
They broke me down and made me, what I am
They showed me roads that men seldom travel
They taught me things can work only if, you try
That losing could mean your really winning
They showed me sorrow, and taught me, how to cry
In my other life, I consumed minds recreations
I made peace with myself, these insecurities, could not stand
In my other life, I lived with incarcerations
They broke me down and made me, what I am
They showed me roads that men seldom travel
They taught me things can work only if, you try
That losing could mean your really winning
They showed me sorrow, and taught me, how to cry
In my other life, I worked hard to make a living
I gave up my recklessness, and vowed never, to give in
In my other life, I was married and had children
There broke me down and made me, what I am
They showed me roads that men seldom travel
They taught me things can work only if, you try
That losing could mean your really winning
They showed me sorrow, and taught me, how to cry
In my other life, I was drawn to the Truth and His resurrection
I confessed my sins, by faith believed and made Him, my Lord
In my other life, I learned to die to self and surrender
Conviction broke me down; the Blood made me, what I am
He showed me a narrow road men seldom travel
He gave me grace to change, in the Sweet, by and by
That losing could mean your really winning
He showed me His love, the price He paid, the reason why
He showed me His love, the price He paid, the reason why

A Silver Platter
the silver platter is what your family gives you
your father makes it and you mother polishes it
and you are given what you need
in your life
some fruits and bread and meat and water
that you need in your journey when they start sending you away and
when they finally leave you
as what this world demands, the usual flow of life and the fading
death, and you find yourself still
thinking and coping and running and stopping and resting and running and walking and curling and stretching what
is all there,
then everything is consumed, the silver platter has nothing, tarnished
and you begin to worry
what used to be is not anymore,
you think life ends just like that,
no
reality bites now, like a snake, or a rabid dog, and you despise the
silver platter
its lasting effect on you, how it made you weak and unthinking,
complacent
and unable to grow your trees and eat the fruits
to raise your goats and eat their meat
to live your own life
and be strong yourself in the darkness that comes
when you still want to play
it is not too late, take the silver platter and throw it away
or bury it
lest another one comes and takes it and be another victim
of its temporary glow that almost killed you

Mr. Native, Now You Must Go...
mr. native
now that you have grown into a man
and learned
everything that we have taught you
now, you must leave
for you no longer accept any rules from us
you are big
your hands no longer fetch water for us
your mind no longer obey orders
you are free to go
and be on your own now
take nothing
for we have nothing to give to you anymore
with your freedom
now you must have burdens
with your liberty
now we have nothing to watch
we are even now
as you must with speed dispatch
what you want to become
we are not your masters anymore
as you are no longer a slave
go fly away, strong bird
find your worms
and monkeys
find your nest
and fly the seas!

Solitude (Naani Poem)
Whenever time permits
gather your thoughts
into dreams
let solitude be your guide.
All you need
are quiet moments
to release your dreams
let solitude be your guide.
Let your dreams
take flight
show what is deep inside your mind
let solitude be your guide.

Clean Up The World
Clean Up The World
Where have we gone?
We’ve drifted away
Too many years
Nothin’ to say
Too many years
Intentional lies
Too many years
Collegiate-laundered hipplets
Drivin’ us to demise
Got to clean up the world, clean up the world
Clean up the world, clean up the world
We’ve got to put that yuppie back in its cage
Along came McRonald
We got in its way
Too many years
Puppeteers played
Too many years
Stealing us blind
Too many years
Of totalitarians smothering us from the right
Got to clean up the world, clean up the world
Clean up the world, clean up the world
We’ve got to put that yuppie back in its cage
Their Wall Street money’s been holdin’ us fast
Ideals shallow and vain
They sell us all just to make it last
Revolution of ‘89 today
We got to clean up the world, clean up the world
Clean up the world, clean up the world
We’ve got to put that yuppie back in its cage
Self-centered cosmos
Material gain
Too many years
Deflecting their blame
Too many years
Stuffin’ their cart
Too many years
Deceit inside the head
Instead of love in their heart
Got to clean up the world, clean up the world
Clean up the world, clean up the world
We’ve got to put that yuppie back in its grave

Our Stubborn Definitions Kept
Most of us were taught to keep sustained,
Only one interest.
And that would be kept in ourselves.
We were taught to look at others,
As charity cases, subservient and weak.
And delighted to defeat them as seen on TV.
Or with games to highlight our 'worldly' aggressions.
With obsessions to dominate.
We were taught to believe,
We were entitled to take anything we touched.
With a declaring of it ours immediately.
No matter whose hands grasped it first.
Or feet stood upon it since time began.
No matter what 'it' was we wanted...
It was ours with a declaring of a victory.
We were taught to perceive ourselves,
As the greatest things on Earth...
God has ever made from birth.
With a feeding on images to thirst this.
We isolated ourselves from those,
Who did not accept our ways!
And today we can not accept 'ourselves'...
Being without.
And we demand that others pay...
For the greeding of our selfishness,
To maintain our perceptions,
Within us nurtured to stay.
And those who have known us to be,
Highly motivated by our creative thoughts...
Are wishing us the best,
With a battle with truth now on our doorsteps.
And in a foolishness keeps us in this struggle fought.
And most of us protest this 'invader'...
That has come to test,
Our stubborn definitions kept with such conviction.
No matter what it takes...
We honor those who give away their lives,
In a public display to say they are out heroes.
But those in the know pray for their souls.

Winning Side
It's the winning side
And everybody's cheering for the winning side
And the children leave their homes to join the winning side
And when Jesus comes He'll march on with the winning side
And we've got all the right answers on the winning side
And the guiding light
Whether wrong or right
And we have no fear
No we have no fear
Waiting for the sign
We will give our lives
We will give our lives
And I feel so isolated
It's so lonely here at night
I could almost feel you near me
I imagine that you're with me
On the winning side
We don't ask too many questions on the winning side
And I've got this strange sensation on the winning side
I don't recognize the faces of the winning side
And we all live here in cages . . .
Someone cried last night
And it made a sound
With my eyes closed tight
I hear everything
I can hear your voice
When I kiss the ground
When I kiss the ground
And I'd like to know you better
And I'd like to know your name
I could really show you something
If you give me half a chance
'Cuz I'm on the winning side
(Winning side)
In the sleepless night
When the blindness comes
Washing over me
Like a giant wave
On a sandless beach
Washing over me
I am proud to be . . .
And I'd like to take you somewhere
That you've never been before
And I feel so isolated
And I feel so all alone
Here on the winning side
(And I feel so all alone

Its Time You Learned About Goodbye
(alan jackson)
Well Ive been on the wrong side
Of the front door too often
Watched you slam it in my face
Well I may have learned the hard way
Im not a soft one
Tonight Im standin in your place
Cause you taught me a lot about leavin
Wont even have to try
So heres your lesson in heartache and grievin
And a chance for you to cry
Cause its time you learned about goodbye
Ive stood behind you
And Ive laid beside you
But I wont do that anymore
Cause Im tired of bein
Just here when you want me
Tonight Im walkin out that door
Cause you taught me a lot about leavin
Wont even have to try
So heres your lesson in heartache and grievin
And a chance for you to cry
Cause its time you learned about goodbye
Its time you learned about goodbye

Character Zero
I was taught a month ago
To bide my time and take it slow
But then I learned just yesterday
To rush and never waste the day
Well Im convinced the whole day long
That all I learn is always wrong
And things are true that I forget
But no one taught that to me yet
I ought to see the man mulcahey
I was taught a month ago
To bide my time and take it slow
But then I learned just yesterday
To rush and never waste the day
Now Im convinced the whole day long
That all I learn is always wrong
And things are true that I forget
But no one taught that to me yet
I ought to see the man mulcahey (8x)

An Appreciation For The Highs And Lows
I did not invent motivation.
Nor was initiative,
Sitting in a variety store...
Wishing that it,
I would come along to pick.
And dedication with devotion,
Was not served to me on a silver platter.
No matter how long I sat wishing for dreams to exist.
Something inside of me arrived long ago.
A comprehension to understand...
Yearning without earning,
What I wanted was not going to be...
In stars that glowed.
And the wearing of fine clothes,
Was not prioritized as my objective.
With lessons taught and disappointments bestowed,
I learned that patience wasn't everything I need to know.
I needed to know the connection between hard work, sacrifice...
And arguments I've settled with discipline in stubborn fights,
Helped me open my eyes...
To the kind of world this is I am blessed to live in.
BLESSED.
Without those selfish expectations.
I did not invent motivation.
Nor was initiative,
Sitting in a variety store...
Wishing that it,
I would come along to pick.
No!
I learned to tie my own shoes,
Before I was able to walk.
And dedication with devotion,
Was not served to me on a silver platter.
No matter how long I sat wishing for dreams to exist.
And...
The clearing of weeds off my own path,
Began a process of adventure through hills and valleys...
With an appreciation for the highs and lows,
That never seem to end.
And 'if' that is my task to last...
Who's journey is this I've been given to enjoy?
And FREE.
At no charge to me.
But to live it as it is with a gratitude expressed.

In Demand
When we were together I was blown away
Just like paper from a fan
But you would act like I was just a kid
Like we were never gonna last
Now Ive got someone who cares for me
He wrote my name in silver sands
I think you know youve lost the love of your life
(and you said) I was the best youve ever had
Because Im in demand
Youre thinking of the way you shoulda held my hand
And all the times you said you didnt understand
You never had our love written in your plans
But now Im in demand
Dont ever think you saw the best in me
Theres a side youll never know
Cos love and loving are too different things
Set your sites far too low
Now Ive got someone who cares for me
He wrote my name in silver sands
I think you know youve lost the love of your life
(and you said) I was the best youve ever had
Because Im in demand
Youre thinking of the way you shoulda held my hand
And all the times you said you didnt understand
You never had our love written in your plans
But now Im in demand
Youre thinking of the way you shoulda held my hand
And all the times you said you didnt understand
You never had our love written in your plans
But now Im in demand
Its only when I fall asleep
I see that winning smile
When my dreams just move along
Youve lost the race by miles
Yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah
Yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah
Yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah
(never had our love written in your plans)
Yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah
Because Im in demand
Youre thinking of the way you shoulda held my hand
And all the times you said you didnt understand
You never had our love written in your plans
But now Im in demand
You know Im in demand
You see Im in demand
You know Im in demand
You know Im in demand
You never had our love written in your plans
You know Im in demand
You see Im in demand
You need me in demand
You want me in demand

Never Said It
Wish I would never have said it
But if only admit it
And I will tell you the truth cause that's all I know
So pathetic, you can't ignore how he bought you
He sat you down and he taught you
And you'll obey every rule that he made
Cause he bought you, now he owns you
So don't go away, don't go away
I got something to say about the dark side of me
Dead side of me, light side of me
Dark side of me, dead side of me
I lied to you and you caught me
I shoulda learned what you taught me
And the truth cuts just like a knife,
When you cut me
And I'll do all that I told you
I loved you and I would hold you
But those are just things that I said in my head
But she told you, shoulda told you
I said don't go away, don't go away
Got something to say about the dark side of me
Dead side of me, light side of me
Dark side of me, dead side of me
Just let me be, what I want to be
I said I haven't told you anything
I hold it all inside in vain
I think of you and I think of pain
Now I've told you everything
I said don't go away, don't go away
I got something to say about the dark side of me
(I said I haven't told you anything)
Dead side of me
(I hold it all inside in vain)
Light side of me
(I think of you and I think of pain)
Dark side of me
(Now I've told you everything)
Dead side of me
I said I haven't told you anything
I hold it all inside in vain
I think of you and I think of pain
I never tell you anything
I said I haven't told you anything
I hold it all inside in vain
I think of you and I think of pain
Never said it, so forget it-

Another Hit For That Fix
When did the living of life,
Become the sole purpose...
To acquire things?
With a desiring that hypnotizes.
When was it that a stress accepted,
To impress others...
Leave such a disappointing affect,
That left our attachments addressed...
More valued than human beings neglected?
And who was it that decided what we possessed,
Would be taxed to never own?
To deluded ourselves and others shown.
As we condone those brave who fought our wars,
On foreign shores...
To needlessly sit hungry and homeless,
Upon city streets and curbs.
As if deserving of it to ease our nerves.
What ignorance qualified itself like this?
To become for us prioritized and not resist.
And to demand with expectations,
A picking of our own choice of entitlements.
With a decision to place insanity,
At the top of our wish list to ensure its existence.
When did the living of life,
Become the sole purpose...
To acquire things?
With a desiring.
That leaves us hypocrites hypnotized.
To feel we have rights to judge and criticize.
And today with a worship of it we can not rid.
Like addicts we pray to get another 'hit' for that 'fix'...
To satisfy that high we get.
With a numbness prescribed and legally authorized,
As we are fed our dysfunctional way of life is envied...
By those we are taught seek to take away our greatness.
And that's why they do their best to fight against us,
As we select which ones are our enemies living on their land.

What I Learned Today
What I learned today is that there will be a tomorrow,
what I learned today is the truth is full of pain and sorrow.
What I learned yesterday is people make mistakes,
what I learned yesterday is I will do whatever it takes.
What I learned Saturday when i watched you leave I take back
what I said, what I learned Saturday is when we fought i dread.
What I learned now is that part of my heart is gone,
what I learned now is you will no longer wake me up at dawn.
It is quiet with out you,
I feel I have many things to do.
