The Sea As It Reaches The Shore
it is the art of the waves
that fold and unfold
unnecessarily by its nature
joyous about its arrival
from the depths to the
shallowness of the water
to the silence of the sands.

On Calais Sands
ON Calais Sands the gray began,
Then rosy red above they gray;
The morn with many a scarlet van
Leaped, and the world was glad with May!
The little waves along the bay
Broke white upon the shelving strands;
The sea-mews flitted white as they
On Calais Sands!
On Calais Sands must man with man
Wash honor clean in blood to-day;
On spaces wet from waters wan
How white the flashing rapiers play,—
Parry, riposte! and lunge! The fray
Shifts for a while, then mournful stands
The Victor: life ebbs fast away
On Calais Sands!
On Calais Sands a little space
Of silence, then the plash and spray,
The sound of eager waves that ran
To kiss the perfumed locks astray,
To touch these lips that ne’er said “Nay,”
To dally with the helpless hands,
Till the deep sea in silence lay
On Calais Sands!
Between the lilac and the may
She waits her love from alien lands;
Her love is colder than the clay
On Calais Sands!

Memories in Water
Water ripples across a clear fountain blue,
Pennies the wishes of a new yesteryear,
The waves of the ocean washes its tide,
Taking with it the sands of oysters still,
The ocean deep, the blue as dark yet,
Getting darker, the ships of yesteryear living with regret,
The water only remembering the cutting of the ships,
As they cast over their nets.
Water falls from a sodden sky,
The shape of the tears to gather with the tide,
The deep of the water: silk to the skin,
Shall bury itself deep into the sands of time.
The tides of the ocean with its bare seas cries,
The forgotten memories of another time,
Telling its tale of each fisherman it brought with its tide.
Each teardropp of rain the clouds bring with grey skies,
Shall dampen each sunshine ray,
And with joy bring a rainbow to shine,
The rainbow in joyous colour opening up the sky,
The clouds forgetting each tear it had fallen from the sky,
Opens up its gaps, the sun's rays spreading wide,
The stillness of the water once again reflecting the light.

Depths Of Night
In dazzling depths of night,
I live with light and darkness
As the lamp is fixed in the air.
A perched jewel supposes its worth
With echoes of beautiful waves.
They carry on into the depths,
I hear cascades of sound and water,
The whole canyon is smiling towards me.
What excellent sight is this!
How fruits like water have an abode!
This mountaintop is at a distant scene,
Inner work has been beyond this realm.

‘You Rise the Water Unfolds’
You rise the water unfolds
You sleep the water flowers
You are water ploughed from its depths
You are earth that takes root
And in which all is grounded
You make bubbles of silence in the desert of sound
You sing nocturnal hymns on the arcs of the rainbow
You are everywhere you abolish the roads
You sacrifice time
To the eternal youth of an exact flame
That veils Nature to reproduce her
Woman you show the world a body forever the same
Yours
You are its likeness.

Silent Song
there is a silence in my heart
as I stand by the water
watching the waves at play
there is a silence in my heart
as I listen to the wind
whipping round my feet of clay
there is a silence in my heart
as I think of how once I loved -
and lost you yesterday
can those waves turn back the time
when I was yours and you were mine?
yes - there is a silence in my heart
as I leave this breathless day
to think of you
to think of you
to think of you this way

Arrival of a child
Arrival of a child marks the
Arrival of a new pleasant path
Arrival of a most colourful horizon
Arrival of a new set of dreams
Arrival of a new ray of hope
Arrival of a new melody in musical notes
Arrival of a refreshing new fragrance
Arrival of a new butterfly in our garden
Arrival of a child marks the
Assertion of nature’s supremacy
Assertion of God’s faith in men
Assertion of sustenance of existence
Assertion of human love
Assertion of a new strengthened bond
Arrival of a child marks the
Beginning of a new philosophy
Beginning of a new set of experiences
Beginning of a renewed valour
Beginning of new ways of learning
Beginning of refined perception
Beginning of the glow of innocence
Beginning of a new set of celebrations
Arrival of child marks the
Formation of new cloud of prosperity
Formation of shower of fresh nutrients
Formation of a lake of vibrant future
Formation of a new pool of gainful talents
Let us welcome the child,
The spark of continuation of human race and
Let the human race celebrate the
Arrival of each child just born

Our Arrival
our arrival is greeted by the wagging of a tail
and the jumping of a dog long denied
of company.
our arrival is the opening of the windows
the winds come
and once again kiss the furniture
and the room shows once more
the luster of an almost forgotten
fullness
our arrival shall keep the blankets
warm again
it shall unlock the bolts and shall
once more open a closed door
our arrival shall give us the sounds
of faucets
the flushing of an old water
inside the bowl long silenced by the
kind of absence that
sometimes want a revival of newer
perspectives
our arrival is a reconstruction of ourselves
for once again
we shall make the questions open
and then, if you only know, the meaning of things
that grow again, like seeds, these, all of these
shall make an arrival interesting....

i Worship
Everything is transient like waves
Robert Herrick and the daffodils
did vanish like bubbles in the water
Waves pop up and then die
The water remains
The water alone is
The water is vast
The water has no other
So the water also is not there
What is there?
i worship that unknown and unknowable

The Children Bathing On The Beach One Summer
look at them as they wade in the water
listen to their smiles
and follow the steps of their chase
from the sand to the water
to the depths
our worries are always endless
what they will become
how we did not.we make so much noise
on the silence of what did not happen.

At the fountain in the ranges
Something stirred below the water
of a pool,
where a fountain splashes in.
There was no wind
and the long grass was motionless
and the branches of a sugar bush,
hanged somewhat protecting
over the pool
It was early morning
and the pool was still dark
and in its depths,
there were black spots
that stirred ominously.
When the day got brighter
a sunbird came to drink water
and looked time after time,
at its image on the water.
.
There were water beetles
that played in circles
and tadpoles, .
swimming up and down
and a dragonfly hanged suspended
above the water
Life was trapped for a moment
and out of the depths
a predatory fish appeared
and when the dragonfly touched the water,
it disappeared into the bill of the fish
and into the depths.

Zen
i take to call him zen
i talk talk to zen like
to all the nature around me
zen can you talk back to me
there is a pause and i say
zen can you talk back to me
silence like the silence of nature
are you dead or alive?
i am such a bewildered dweller
i talk to zen like i do to
all the nature around me
nature do you have a mouth
talk back to me
silence
then this tranquil feel
this feel of zen reacting to all nature, to me
but no talk, just silence
then i say zen
well if you let me do all the talking?
zen zen zen i know you will one day
be more cruel, do the leaving,
not a sigh, not a word
so why dont you talk to me now?
i talk to nature hoping it will talk back to me
but like zen, it is all quiet, silence
i even pull his leg, i say zen you have
sprouted a mole, a wrinkle, a line here and there
and i say you are smart and i suddenly
feel a contentment manoevres him a little
but then i ask again, and again
zen is it my own ego boiling over?
zen, zen please tell me
till then you may stay the way you are

My Friend You Must....
we always want to spend
Christmas on the beach
what is it that we want to be reminded of?
the sands?
yes what about the sand?
when we arrive there
the kids run to meet the sea with laughter
the sea breeze is salty yet cool
the trees are tall and big and shady
the silent sands are peopled now
we will be too busy with fun
feeling saved and going public with
all that happiness gives us
the silent sands look at us with a gaze
it has a record of the past
it has absorbed the memories of the sea
it looks at us with pity
what is it about the sands?
and their silence?
i think i know it
but my friend you must find it yourself.

Pre-Existence
I laid me down upon the shore
And dreamed a little space;
I heard the great waves break and roar;
The sun was on my face.
My idle hands and fingers brown
Played with the pebbles grey;
The waves came up, the waves went down,
Most thundering and gay.
The pebbles, they were smooth and round
And warm upon my hands,
Like little people I had found
Sitting among the sands.
The grains of sands so shining-small
Soft through my fingers ran;
The sun shone down upon it all,
And so my dream began:
How all of this had been before;
How ages far away
I lay on some forgotten shore
As here I lie to-day.
The waves came shining up the sands,
As here to-day they shine;
And in my pre-pelasgian hands
The sand was warm and fine.
I have forgotten whence I came,
Or what my home might be,
Or by what strange and savage name
I called that thundering sea.
I only know the sun shone down
As still it shines to-day,
And in my fingers long and brown
The little pebbles lay.

At The Beach One Early Morning
i see indifferent soft sands
i feel the fineness of their being in my palm
i bury my thoughts there
my hands holding on
to what is falling out of my grasp
the waves murmur
so envious about my silence.

The Drowning Silence
i am into this
drowning silence
and i am this
driver of the pearl
of solitude
that even in the
depths of
sadness gleams
even without the
help of light
this drowning silence
makes me
admire the need for
breathing
a streak of light
is all i need in the darkness
of these depths

With New Shot
Sea waves rushed to me
As if to greet and make to feel free
I felt in it sudden current
With full of energy and nothing absent
I had stood aimlessly on shore
With no hope to survive and dare
It was split second thought
Battled enough in mind and fought
I am never man of unstable mind
Love to dream and of nature very kind
I get enough of energy and boost from nature
Where I go and stand alone to secure
Waves again rushed and took away some sand
Each wave looked friendly at the end
Sea roared again from distance and sent fear signal
'Don't be afraid or feel panicky with wave's arrival'
What has happened to me today?
Why is it so that I want to give away?
Whole of my life for stupid way of thinking
When ships over water can swim and I think of sinking?
Oh no, I gathered strength from waves going up and down
What was the reason behind to press for an urge to drown?
I felt shy over the silly idea of not to stay
Almighty had given it to preserve and serve in good way
Oh it is continuous journey with little hint
Each time they rush to the shore to wipe out the prints
What points have we to decide decisively?
Is it life to be led successively?
I brush off the rotten idea and return to hut
All ideas still remain with lots of 'ifs and buts'
I need them to be off with door completely shut
I find the mind ready to fly with new shot

Listen
Listen
to the grasses breathing in the breeze
to the sky unfurling without cease
to the sea waves caressing the shore
to the tree leaves rustling even more
to the raindrops tapping on the roofs
to the rivers rushing through the grooves
to the icetops breaking in the creeks
to the rocks unsettling, rattling peaks
to the thunder trashing into sound
to the rhythm of nature, shifty lands
to the wind in deserts' moving sands
to the voice of silence, moonlight dance
to the ocean humming a lullaby
to the hills asleep under the stars

Wave
Right out to the lighthouse and further
Fields of sheaves meshing and swashing.
All along the floorboards of fathoms
Sound ceaselessly threshes silence.
Water rising, floundering, water dancing,
Water flailed to water clinging
Between waves to a breezebeat pirouetting.
Crest and trough to the shore bringing
Alated landscape from a butterflied hill
Inside unmoving salient slopes
Aboard their observer's surrendered will
