The Panther With Red Wings
from childhood
the mind
gives you a black panther
with red wings
piano music
flies like white doves in the air
alone in a faraway island
you stroll
no tree for a shade
the black panther with red wings
lands
on the spot of your solitude
staring at you

I played, like, a year of piano until I learned the Pink Panther theme. That was my goal. Once I was good enough, I quit. Now my music has to have some rock.

5. The Beast
I remember my dad’s big Black Panther
As he kicked it went off with a roar
I remember him saying it’s a strong un
It’s pulling hard asking for more
I remember the sound from a distance
You could tell he was there by the throb
I remember its speed in an instant
From a dot to a great big black blob
I remember him trying to tame it
And the first day he sat on its back
I remember mum looking uneasy
When he said he would just need the knack
I remember the beast being thirsty
Many gallons we all saw it drink
I remember the back of this monster
It gave off a gassy black stink
I remember the awesome black power
Put dad off the road in a dyke
I remember he smiled as he polished
Black Panther one hell of a bike

Cantus Planus
The black panther lies under his rose tree
And the fawns come to sniff at his sides:
Evoe, Evoe, Evoe Baccho, O
ZAGREUS, Zagreus, Zagreus,
The black panther lies under his rose tree.

Taking The Wings Of A Dragon
Here I am staring at the sun, wondering what I've become. Was I on the run? Well now its over. Im taking the wings of a dragon and getting ready to fly. I want to embrace the sky. I want to live my life before I die. I don't want to hide behind contradictions or lies. So here I am staring at the sun, wondering what I've become. Was I on the run? Well now its over. I'm taking the wings of a dragon and getting ready fly. Empty the mind, open the soul and let it all flow through. Broken hearts can be glued. I know that at one time it seemed as if I was screwed. But I have paid those dues. And now its time to move. So here I am staring at the sun, wondering what I've become. Was I on the run? Well now its over. I'm taking the wings of a dragon and getting ready to fly. The awe inspired. The truly desired. Stop to admire. What if that was yours? Oh so much do I adore. I must explore so much more. Never deny a chance to change the score. A riddle within is where I must begin. I must see this to the end. So here I am staring at the sun, wondering what I've become. Was I on the run? Was I on the run? . Well now its over. Im taking the wings of a dragon and getting ready to fly. I'm getting ready to fly.

Swallow
HE knows Queen Lab, her isle,
And black, enormous Kaf,
The Swallow, and 'Allah'
He cries
As into Giaour lands
With Dervish faith and rite,
Hueless, a Saracen,
He flies.
Like scimitars his wings,
And, all unluminous,
Black, like a genie's thought,
His eyes.

An Individuality
i am always a shade of something else
a background for instance
am i not a part of it? i am.
in the dark, i am black
so what do you see? just darkness
how can i be a ghost? a mist?
a white fog amidst the sea of darkness
a soul floating in cold air
you will be afraid for what you will see
so i am but a black shadow
blending with the night
you see nothing
but i shall speak in the comfort of your sleep
during the day
i assume the shape of a body
settle on the mind
live on the plain and the green grass
take the shade of the big tree
and wade myself on the shallow waters
we will be there
enjoying the conversation
sipping tea
and watching the seagulls
we shall take the beauty
in the most ordinary ways we can
spectators and distant from the touch
of pain and too careful about desire
you see? how can we be hurt
an island to an island
between us the ocean

Heather
The black panther treads at my side,
And above my fingers
There float the petal-like flames.
The milk-white girls
Unbend from the holly-trees,
And their snow-white leopard
Watches to follow our trace.

A Raven
Dark bird
Black raven with black wings,
Black eyes as dark as midnight,
Wind flutters his wings,
Shadows turn his head,
And movement catches his stare.
He looks down upon you and watches in dismay,
No black is with in you,
No night in your eyes,
No wings to up lift you,
No shadow to attract you,
And movements pass your gaze.
A raven, A raven, A moonlight silhouette.
White America-Me...
I often feel like a black spot on new white sheets.
This is white America-me.
They say my music is not music but more a call to violence.
White America-me.
They tell me my people are free if this true why do the prisons look like an old southern plantation. White America-me.
Most of the schools where my people go are shut down. They say it's because of low test scores. I believe it's because they really want to keep us dumb. White America-me.
I often feel like a black spot on new white sheets.
White America-me.
Negros debate their lives back
In the great forest of South Africa,
Moves a black shift
With bare feet on the imperata
Voices lay low with ancient tongues
But the strong limbs of precambian evolution is displayed
How long can any other survive?
Without the gene of the Rwanda river
Or the thorn foot of Damascus
Wonders of the world
Is not the pyramid of Egypt
But the rough skinned builders of the pyramid
Through proud and dedicated hands
Enduring through torments
They toil night and day to feed their maidens
Who call them slaves
But spit at their faces
The black panther
Of acute wisdom with undeniable knowledge
Inability to name but recognize
And beauty in their eyes
The black signifies the strength
Yellow, the power
With hind legs that can support two
The lion on the panther's back
Carried and rescued in danger
But the lion only cares to roar loudly
Just in an effort to cover that of the panther
What then can they do?
Without acute minds and powerful limbs
Without the hills and mountains of Tanzania
The fashion of Gambia
The Ghanian pasture
The made beds of the Nigerian Kainji
And the marathon of Kenya
When the king cobra lifts up it's head
It strikes immediately
But when the python lifts his
It surveys his enviroment
As though it's stupid

Suitcases Don't Have Wings
Small bags big bags
Black bags white bags
Suitcases hey hey hey
For work and for play
Crammed full of things
Suitcases dont have wings
White bags black bags
Complete with one-way tags
Dragging us down
Ever closer to the ground
All the time they sing
Suitcases dont have wings
Big bags small bags
That behind us we drag
Past present and future
We cram so much in n' gotcha
We've been forgetting
suitcases dont have wings
All bags every bag
That we painfully drag
Drop them at jesus feet
Cause all ur needs he'll meet
Suitcases hey hey hey
They get in the way
Drop them if you want in
Suitcases dont have wings

The Fate Of The Black Bird
the black bird flies alone against the blue sky
it is lonely and that is the truth that lies in every black feather of its strong wings
if only it can change its course
and find a place where there are other black birds like it
perhaps it will turn back and learn to sing the song of the black flock
it is not a way of life that its father had handed to it upon its beak and claws
it is not even a choice and never did it ever imagine that it shall be alone against the blue skies
against the black nights and against the towering peaks of mountains
there is no other way of rationalizing about it except fate,
it is the destiny that chose its path and it is simply following the dictates of the stars.

The Angel with the Broken Wings
Angel fallen from sky,
Watching as life passed her by,
Filled with the worlds horrid things,
The angel with broken wings.
No one helps, no one prays,
For the girl who shows the black and grays,
Why does all the bad cling?
To the angel with the broken wings.
Sometimes she flies in her dreams,
But that doesn’t stop her screams,
When will they stop the sting?
For the angel with the broken wings.
One day this angel will fly above,
And fill the world with lots of love,
One day she’ll help to heal the dings,
In another angel with the broken wings.

Felines
Look at the leopard. He is all peppered
with spots from his head to his toe.
His body is sleek and his eyes do shine
and he's ferocious when stalking his foe.
Look at the lion. He's no dandelion.
In the jungle he's King of the beasts.
He's courageous and strong and prowls like a cat
to find his food and then feasts.
Look at the tiger. He can spring higher
than most of the cats you'll see.
His coat is all tawny or sometimes stark white
with stripes that are black ebony.
Look at the cheetah. Be fast or he'll eat ya.
You won't have much time to escape.
He's faster than lightning with legs that are long.
It seems that he's always in shape.
Look at the panther. He's not any fancier
than the rest of the cats that there are.
But the coat that he wears is midnight black,
a black that's the color of tar.
Look at the cat that lives where you are,
the one that can purr and can mew.
They say he has nine lives and I doubt that he does.
But, the one that he lives is for you.

Can You See the Pride in the Panther
Can You See the Pride In the Panther
As he grows in splendor and grace
Topling obstacles placed in the way,
of the progression of his race.
Can You See the Pride In the Panther
as she nurtures her young all alone
The seed must grow regardless
of the fact that it is planted in stone.
Can You See the Pride In the Panthers
as they unify as one.
The flower blooms with brilliance,
and outshines the rays of the sun.

Dear In The Headlines
Still in moonlight the scarlet sings
silver and black like piano keys
somewhere an angel gets her wings
call her for supper
and other things
still the the moonlight the scarlet sings
candy wrappers voices
pinned to the screens
somewhere an angel gets her wings
caught in the arms of a speakeasy
still in the moonlight the scarlet sings
bathing in the flashbulbs
and the legalese
somewhere an angel gets her wings
breathless and smoking chambers sings
of pages of magazines
stillin moonlight the scarlet sings
somewhere an angel gets her wings

Archangel of Death
Over fields of War soars the Raven, on wings of Death he flies
He sees the clash of bone and sword, hears the dying cries
Flies above the bloodied earth, his wings black out the sun
Come to collect the honored dead, each and every one
Angel of Death, Azrael, the Bloody Reaper Grim
Raven of Death, Herder of Souls, the Black Winged Seraphim
His face shrouded in shadow, in his hands a blackened sword
The Angel in Black, Collector of Souls, darkest servant of the Lord
The Raven soars the skies of earth, to collect men's final breath
Azrael, the Reaper Grim, Archangel of Death.
