The Neighborhood
in this affluent neighborhood
noise is a stranger
it is kept away by the fences
that keep taller
every year
by the bushes that are trimmed
like pillars
by the vines that stick like
epoxy on
the walls of their houses
by the turrets that look to the road
always with suspicion
there is always the feeling of
fear and loneliness
on every gates
which by the way are mostly
painted blue.

The Grand Houses at Lo-yang
By woods and water, whose houses are these
With high gates and wide-stretching lands?
From their blue gables gilded fishes hang;
By their red pillars carven coursers run.
Fear
I smell it here, I smell it near
In our hearts, body and soul we wear
Fear! Year in and year out in full gear
Fear of death
Fear of rejection
Fear of loneliness
Fear of poverty
I hear it near, it stinks of hell my dear
In our hearts, body and soul we wear
Fear! Year in and year out in full gear
At times overwhelming and impossible to bear
Fear of being ridiculed
Fear of being single
Fear of being truthful
Fear of life always holding on to survive
Fear of change and what surprises it sprinkles
Fear of old age painted with priceless wrinkles
Let me tell it like Shakespeare
And make it plain and clear
Listen why be afraid of fear?
When fear itself can’t talk, walk, see nor hear!

At The End Of The Road/There Is Deeper Loneliness
AT THE END OF THE ROAD/ THERE IS DEEPER LONELINESS
At the end of the road
There is deeper Loneliness
More terrible Pain
Humiliation
Failure Again.
At the end of the road
There is the disappointing
Of those one loves
And the frantic struggle
To survive and remain sane.
At the end of the road
It will be a long time, if ever
If there is ever to be
New hope again.
At the end of the road
There is deeper loneliness
And unending darkness
And fear and sorrow and self- hate
At the end of the road
Again.

The Adventure Of A Timid Man
The Adventure of a Timid Man.
The narrow dirt road I followed today was nothing more than a bumpy track,
on both sides ugly trees and thorny, evergreen bushes I was trapped in
the wilderness of enraged nature. Sun and deep shadows, god knows what
lurked in them. Prickly silence, the noise of the scooter unnerved me,
switched off the clamour; opaque calm. As a child when we played cowboys
and Indians I was forever the redskin; trust me to side with losers.
Tractor tracks which meant the road was leading somewhere. I heard grunts
in the bushes maybe it was a boar and if it charged I had no defense, not even
a folding knife. Whistled a Dixie tune, spoke loudly, the echo of my fear ran
up and down the road. I drove on ignoring the imps that grabbed at my shirt
trying to hold me back. And there I saw it the asphalted main road, now I had
nothing to fear but cars and crazy drivers.

Sea and Shore
‘Why do you tear at
My towers and my turrets,
My walls and my pillars
My barrs and my beach;
And mutter like musings
Of untoward poets,
And scatter your silences
Out of my reach? ’
‘Why do you surge and
Assault in your anger
The fortress I built for
My lady asleep,
And slowly dismiss each
Dispute you remember
By wearing each stone
From the base of the Keep? ’
‘What is the torment that
Claws at the crofters,
The meadows, the rookeries
Close to your door,
And where is the mistress
As sweet and as soft as
The ripples you listlessly
Waste by the shore? ’
II
‘I’ll balk and I’ll beat
At your very foundations,
I'll tear down your turrets
And pillars of stone,
The lady that sleeps at
The edge of my oceans
Was mine when your acres
Were torn from my throne.’
‘But time has not told
All the tales of my fathoms
And constant I am
To the love that I keep,
Each year I assault and
Encroach your dominions,
Your towers and your turrets,
Your castle and keep.’
III
‘Long may you surge and
Assault my defences,
Beat in your anger
At granite and slate,
The lady that sleeps has
No further pretences,
Your labour of love
A millennium late.’
IV
‘Now shall I fume at
My lady’s defection and
All her deceptions
From headland and Tor,
Love is as false as
Your petty foundations
When love may be left
Beating up on the shore.’

Suspicion
Where were you yesterday?
I called you up
No one answered
The phone rings now
All the time
I pick it up
No one answers
I know it seems like I just cant go ahead
Sometimes its like holding a gun to my head
I get the green light but Im still seeing red
Something I cant stand
Suspicion
Suspicion
In the park, yesterday
I saw a face that spelled danger
A friendly smile, a worried look
I mistook for a stranger
I keep on fighting and I know I cant win
Somethings biting me Ill never give in
Coming back to me again and again
The message in my hand
Suspicion
Suspicion
Eating away at me, it wont let go
Suspicion is following, everywhere I go
He walks before me, hes someone that I dont know
Suspicion
Suspicion
Where were you yesterday?
Where will you be tomorrow?

Exile House
EXILE HOUSE
Our tiled roof dripped
and the four walls threatened to fall apart
but we were to go home soon,
We grew papayas
in front of our house
chillies in our garden
and changmas for our fences,
then pumpkins rolled down the cowshed thatch
calves trotted out of the manger,
grass on the roof,
beans sprouted and
climbed the vines,
money plants crept in through the window,
our house seems to have grown roots.
The fences have grown into a jungle,
now how can I tell my children
where we came from?
Changmas – a tree usually planted for fences; flexible and flourishing

Blue Stranger
Hello blue stranger sittin' there all alone
With your glass of sorrow you seem so far from home
Maybe you will let me buy a round or two
I'm a blue stranger too
Hello blue stranger I haven't seen your around
But I know every reason for leavin' town
We might know each other before the night is through
I'm a blue stranger too
And strangers fall in love everyday
All lovers were strangers once
Just like us a little unsure of their ways
Well hello blue stranger will you take a chance
I might be mistaken but I see meaning in your glance
Maybe this could be the start of something new
I'm a blue stranger too
And strangers fall in love all the time
All lovers were strangers once
Just like us a little unsure of sharin' eyes
Hello blue stranger sittin' there all alone
With you glass of sorrow you seem so far away from home
Maybe you will let me buy you a round or two
I'm a blue stranger too
Hello blue stranger, Hello blue stranger
Hello blue stranger

Lies About Tall Guys
Just seems like it’s that way to me
Taller guys seem to get executive jobs
Shorter guys work mostly as clerks
Taller guys never seem to be slobs
Shorter guys always seem to be jerks
Taller guys seem to get all of the action
Shorter guys seem to be quite invisible
Taller guys always seem to deserve satisfaction
Shorter guys are lonely and miserable
Just seems like it’s that way to me
Taller guys just seem born to play sports
Shorter guys kinda seem to like tennis
Taller guys certainly look better in shorts
Shorter guys look like Dennis the Menace
Taller guys are usually at the top of their class
Shorter guys seem to fail quite a lot
Taller guys always seem to kick ass
Shorter guys want to, but simply cannot
sure seems like it’s that way to me
Taller guys get better grades and such
Shorter guys seem to barely scrape by
Taller guys seem to do better, pretty much
Shorter guys always wonder why
Taller guys seem to have eyes like a hawk
Shorter guys seem to wear glasses a lot
Taller guys cover more ground when they walk
Shorter guys, to keep up, have to trot
Sure seems like it’s that way to me
Taller guys and their friends look like N.B.A players
Shorter guys look more like cheerleaders
Taller guys seem to look like dragon slayers
Shorter guys look a lot more like bleeders
Taller guys seem to have more gear to protect
Shorter guys wear more protective gear
Taller guys, more confidence seem to project
Shorter guys have less confidence, more fear
Really seems like it’s that way to me
Taller guys appeal to the female gender
Shorter guys always seem to choke
Taller guys carry a lot more legal tender
Shorter guys always seem to be broke
Taller guys seem to drive high dollar cars
Shorter guys drive toyotas
Taller guys seem to reach for the stars
Shorter guys reach for diet sodas
Taller guys are obnoxious, let’s neuter them all
Shorter guys are great people, always a delight
Taller guys are an abomination against mother nature’s law
If you think I’m a short guy….well, you’re right!
Really seems like the way it should be

Combing My Hair
Now people always come around
But they don't always stick around
I run a comb across my head
I wish my hair would settle down
The clock I see is running slow
The batteries are running low
I run a comb across my head
And it feels the same like it did before
You're just another first footer across my door
And little less care (hair?) than I had last year
But it doesn't worry me because I
I have no fear
Here
The car I see is painted black
I'm steering (staring) at the driver's back
He runs a comb across his head
And it feels the same like it did before
You're just another fresh fare across his door
And little less care than he had last year
But it doesn't worry him because he
He has no fear
Here, here
Now people always come around
But they don't always stick around
They run a comb across your head
I wish my hair would settle down
The clock I see is running slow
We've only got three years to go
We run our combs across our heads
And it feels the same like it did before
You're just another first footer across the door
And little less care than we took last year
But it doesn't worry us because we
We have no fear
Here
Have we
We have no fear
Have we
We have no fear

Poetics 9...
beyond this house
where we live
more or less
ten meters away
lies my neighbor's house
painted white
with a blue roof
and magenta windows
some walls are made
of glass
honesty there is peace
among us
who are still on unspeakable
terms
on good fences
higher than ever
we have become
perfect neighbors
there is independence
when fire breaks
we are ready with our own
pails already
filled with stinking water

The Real House Where We Ought To Live
the real house where we ought to live
have no pillars
and walls and fences
no kitchens and sinks
and toilets
do not grumble, that is the truth
no wind destroys it
no sun scorches it
no rain seeps
it is not the house of nothingness
discover it yourself

The Tree Out My Window
Taller taller
than last year
Greener greener
than last shower
there is a tree out my window
stouter stouter
than previous year
stronger stronger
no wind can steer
the tree is standing out my window
birds, crawlers
vines and creepers
children, farmers
artists and passers
sharing prosperity with this tree out my window
calm, silent
when spring is pleasant
violent, firm
when it's autumn
the tree out my window
varying moods and tone
with season
varying acts and chores
with changing sun
the tree shows out my window
true friend
true bond
mystic impression
full of motivation
the tree out my window
older older
still looking tender
timber timber
for good timber
they cut the tree out my window
vines, creepers
birds, crawlers
artists, passers
children, farmers
forgot the tree out my window

The Manse Gate
At a wave of his hand, with his eye on the traffic,
Underneath his yellow helmet head,
the bulldozer, lifting its beak
Came down upon the old Manse gate,
And in a second, with its pillars
And walls, were rubble for the road,
foundation.
Contributing to its raiso d'etre, passe.
you leave Marlay Park, on the Grange Road side,
the exit gate, facing what was a Manse,
you could have seen it,
a status of Gentry.
Those walls kept in an ethos,
those gate let in a class,
of carriages and conversation.
To a long, winding, Elms driveway,
the Manse well gone.
And now the gates too,
at the dropp of a hand, the wave,
of a young man, helmetted in yellow,
And a cigarette swinging in the spare hand,
as the clear road allows the beak of progress
move away a century of style.
Then he looks to wave me on,
And holding in his hand, pulling on the
smoke,
nods the beak towards the wall,
the highways now ready for foundation.
History is history at a glance.

He Knows The Cadena De Amor
i now know
that he loves
flowers
he likes
most the
cadena de
amor
climbing
from one
tree
to another
pink flowers
on fences
and pillars
and walls
and windows
and doors
creeping
living
to its name
the chain
of love
a life
full of creepy

Loneliness
Roy orbison/joe melson
Loneliness is the worst thing in the world
To be alone all the day long
No ring on the phone, yeah this is wrong
Low down loneliness
This loneliness, I must confess
Yes its a mess of this loneliness
Low down loneliness, loneliness all around
Loneliness, you have found me loneliness
Oh loneliness, all of the time
Such loneliness, youre so unkind
Low down loneliness
Loneliness everywhere
Loneliness, Ive got more that my share
Oh loneliness, my destiny
Yeah loneliness, was I born to be
In low down loneliness? loneliness

I like blue
I like blue
and my motorbike is that colour
and some of the clothes that I wear.
If I am happy,
my eyes changes colour from grey
to bright blue.
The lavender bushes in our garden,
are rather blue
than purple to me.
When the sun sets behind the hillock
there’s a wonderful scent in the early evening air,
that comes from the blue bushes.
a Blue sky with a hot sun
can do miracles to me
and I cannot get enough of summer,
but Monday or any other day
must please stay away
from that colour.

If I Was A Stranger
(wally rathie/tom rathie/ed stevens)
Published by beeg tunes/frankly blond music - bmi
If I was a stranger, lookin for love, standin in the rain
And if I needed some help from above
Would consolation be enough
Would you remember, could we forget
If I was a stranger, would you let me in
Find a place inside your heart, wash away my loneliness
If I was a stranger, would you let love begin
Right from the start, to the end
Ive been waiting all of my life, for love to arrive
Now that I found you, my soul is alive
This dedication will survive
I still remember, that night we met
If I was a stranger, would you let me in
Find a place inside your heart, wash away my loneliness
If I was a stranger, would you let love begin
Right from the start, till the end
Ive been waiting such a long time
For this love to come along
True devotion is so hard to find
Could you give your heart again
Wash away my loneliness
Would you remember, could we forget
If I was a stranger, would you let me in
Find a place inside your heart, wash away my loneliness
If I was a stranger, would you let love begin
Right from the start, to the end
If I was a stranger, would you let me in
Find a place inside your heart, wash away my loneliness
If I was a stranger, would you let love begin
Right from the start, to the end

Stranger On A Quiet Street
When all the thrills have been forgotten
The chill of night can call them home
And all the dreams that you left stranded
Will slowly start to come along
I felt it as she slipped away, slipped away
I didnt have the words to say
When I saw the stranger
A stranger on a quiet street
Stranger on a quiet street
You can go straight as an arrow
You can go straight as you dare
Walkin the old straight and narrow
Dont always get you there
The sun was shining when I saw it all
She was moving to a different beat
When I met a stranger
A stranger on a quiet street
Stranger on a quiet street
It came to me out of the blue, out of the blue
There came the moment that I really knew
When I met a stranger
A stranger on a quiet street
Stranger on a quiet street
Stranger on a quiet street
Stranger on a quiet street
Stranger on a quiet street
Stranger on a quiet street
Stranger on a quiet street, on a quiet street
Stranger on a quiet street
Stranger on a quiet street
Stranger on a quiet street

Weary Winter
The blinding sun of winter,
Beating on sad souls.
Where snow runs deep on the ground outside,
Compacting under our feet.
Beating on sad souls,
The hail of Christmas past,
Compacting under our feet
And endangering our path.
The hail of Christmas past
Falls heavy with the storms.
When endangering our pat,
The trees sway heavy with scorn.
Hail falls heavy with the storm
While people hide away.
The trees sway heavy with scorn
In the gusty winter breeze.
While people hide away
In the comfort of warm houses
In the gusty winter breeze
And the grey sky sheltering above it.
In the comfort of warm houses
Protected by their icy walls and gates.
The grey sky sheltering above it
Gives an eerie feeling of “Wait”.
Protected by their icy walls and gates
Where snow runs deep on the ground outside,
An eerie feeling of wait,
Contrasts the blinding sun of winter.
