The Black Bird
the black bird flies
and loses itself in the darkness of
the night
not stopping going beyond
fog
wanting to find the star
tired it stops for rest on top
of the highest cliff
looking the plains below
house like dots
alone
and lonely perhaps but strong and
determined
tonight it starts again
its journey
to nowhere

REST STOPS (In Life's Journey)
When our days are packed to the full
When our faith is clouded with doubts
When we feel our journey is nonsense
When we feel we work for nothing
When our life is killed with boredom
Or just let the time pass idly by,
We will walk through life aimlessly
Unless we take rest stops.
Rest stops
Instances when we ponder
We ponder on the journey of our lives
Our success, our failures
Before God, we will bring them all
And let it be lessons learned
Rising from our rest stops
With hearts renewed
With new confidence
We will continue our journey
With a new life, a new beginning.
When we are tired
Lets take our rest stops
And rise again, continue the journey
A life change for the better
A journey change forever.

Land Of Canaan
You can go to the east to find your
Your inner hemisphere
You say were under the same sky babe
Your bound to realize honey its not that clear
Im not your promised land oh no
Im not your promised one
Im not the land of canaan sweetheart
Waiting for you under the sun
Im lonely tonight
Im missing you now
Im wanting your love
And youre giving it out
Im lonely tonight
Im lonely tonight
Im lonely tonight
Well, the meanings changed
For what its worth
Its just a senseless game
Well I should think of love
But its fear every time I hear
Honey your heartbeat strain
Its not the fallen man
Its not the call of time
Its just the london skyline sweetheart
Telling me youre not mine
Im lonely tonight
Im missing you now
Im wanting your love
And youre giving it out
Im lonely tonight
Im lonely tonight
Im lonely tonight
My blood is running dry
My skin is, my skin is growing thin
For every time you find yourself
You loose a little bit of me honey from within
Its just a raging cycle
Why cant we bring it all to the end of the line
From inside this existence, sweetheart
Time is not on my side
Im lonely tonight
Im missing you now
Im wanting your love
And youre giving it out
Im lonely tonight
Im lonely tonight
Im lonely tonight
Im not your promised land
(Im lonely tonight)
Im not your promised one
(honey Im trying to tell you that Im lonely tonight)
Im not your promised land
Im not your promised one
Im not the land of canaan
(Im lonely tonight)
Im not your land of canaan
(Im lonely tonight)
Im not the land of canaan sweetheart
Waiting for you under the sun
Im lonely tonight

Angel Needs A Ride
Said, angel, do you want a ride?
Said, angel, Im tired and Im lonely
And I need somebody by my side
Its a long road that stretched from vegas to nowhere
But itd been an even longer time
Since he found some piece of mind
And he lived off of bubblegum and cigarettes
And got his nourishment from all-night stores
Thought hed just keep driving
Til he outdrove his sorrow
He said, angel, oh do you want a ride?
Said angel, Im tired and Im lonely
And I need somebody by my side
Her feet were warm and tired
But as determined as a soul
She left with no regrets
But also no posessions did she own
Her heart was as fragile as her thin, loving arms
Shes praying to God to take away her lonely
When he pulled on aside of the road
And he said, angel, oh do you want a ride?
Said, angel, Im tired and Im lonely
And I need somebody by my side
The highway goes on forever
Ive seen a thousand men like him before
And Ive seen a thousand angels that
Got into the car
Theyre just a couple of lost souls
Looking to rekindle some sort of forgotten dream
I hope they find what theyre looking for
In the solace of the road
They said, angel, do you want a ride?
Said, angel, Im tired and Im lonely
Im tired and Im lonely
Im tired and Im lonely
Im tired and Im lonely
And I need to have somebody
By my angel

Are You Lonely Tonight
Sometimes I can tell early in the day
Sometimes I can sense in an uncanny way
When things arent going right
It looks like just another lonely night
Wake me when its over shake me when its done
Maybe when the sun comes up Ill find a place to run
So dont lay there like a fool
cause all you have to do is call me
(chorus)
Well are you alone tonight
Or are you lonely tonight
Say youre lonely tonight
travel round the world seen a million girls
I know Ive been around nothin gets me down
cause theres someone out there just like you
Someones out there just like me too
Well are you alone tonight
Or are you lonely tonight
Say youre lonely tonight
Baby dont let it dont let it get ya
Just say the word and Ill be your cover
Im gonna try to get there today
Call me and tell me
You dont need another day
Lonely night (lonely tonight
Sometimes I can tell you dont have to say
Sometimes I can sense in an uncanny war
When things arent going right
It looks like just another lonely
Well are you alone tonight
Or are you lonely tonight
Say youre lonely tonight
Well are you alone tonight
Or are you lonely tonight
Say youre lonely tonight

Lonely Cities Of The Heart
As the midnight fades in boys town
And the hustle stops to glow
This urban landscape sprawls before me
And the hunger starts to grow
But something more than my daddy showed to me
How he wanted to make a man of me
Living in the lonely cities of the heart
Hiding in the shadows and searching in the dark
My mama reads me like an open book
She knows when Im up or down
But every night I stay longer
In the creole part of town
Something more than what the good lord gave to me
Something more, much more than this
Living in the lonely cities of the heart
Hiding in the shadows, searching in the dark
And it never stops, no it never stops, no one defends you now
Living in the lonely cities of the heart
(instrumental)
I can take a little pain, but not tonight again
Outside my hotel window I hear the mardi gras
Keep the candle burning bright babe, Ive come too far
As daylight creeps through the curtains I start to slip away,
And everything that seems so certain is just another day
Living in the lonely cities of the heart
Hiding in the shadows searching in the dark
And it never stops, no it never stops, no one defends you now
Living in the lonely cities of the heart
Hiding in the shadows searching in the dark
And it never stops, no it never stops, no one defends you now
Living in the lonely cities of the heart
Living in the lonely cities of the heart...

The Fate Of The Black Bird
the black bird flies alone against the blue sky
it is lonely and that is the truth that lies in every black feather of its strong wings
if only it can change its course
and find a place where there are other black birds like it
perhaps it will turn back and learn to sing the song of the black flock
it is not a way of life that its father had handed to it upon its beak and claws
it is not even a choice and never did it ever imagine that it shall be alone against the blue skies
against the black nights and against the towering peaks of mountains
there is no other way of rationalizing about it except fate,
it is the destiny that chose its path and it is simply following the dictates of the stars.

Are We Watching the Same Star?
I'm looking at this star tonight,
Wishing wishes would come true.
I wonder where I stand and look
If you see the same star too.
Does the darkness overwhelm you,
Where you stand and look tonight?
Do you see the star I’m watching?
Could we both stand in it's light?
Tonight although there's miles between us,
Perhaps our souls will somehow meet.
At the point this star begins,
Our hearts will find their beat.
Do you feel the need for someone,
To fulfill your empty life?
I'm wishing for the same thing,
As I watch this star tonight.
This gentle breeze I'm feeling,
Calms my heart of sorrow.
I'm wondering will it find you,
And soothe your heart tomorrow.
A hopeless born romantic,
Ever searching for true love.
Wishing wishes in the darkness
To this star that hangs above.

Sail Through Your Emotions, Don't Sink
Life, people say, a journey
Indeed, it is a journey through emotions
Life turns dry
If it is without that
Emotions steer the course of life
It drives you take directions
As in a journey there are stops or stages
We too come across in this
Inevitable life journey
A number of junctions
With an emotion stopping us
To take the appropriate direction
A journey could be smooth
And less cumbersome
With emotions not stopping us for long
And demanding tough decisions
Emotions are not absolute
Their nature and extent
Varying with previous journey experiences
As a kid the emotions go unregistered
And the stops do not long last
Journey goes on smoothly for most of us
As we advance in the journey
The emotions become strong
And they get registered
Making us spend long time
In identifying the so called right directions
Checking emotions and not yielding to them
Is indeed a wisdom
And not many are successful
In making this happen
It is well advised
Not to allow your emotions drown you
But to develop in you a float
So that you sail over them
Seeking divine guidance
Developing a taste for artful creations
Looking for opportunities in challenges
Schooling your mind against
Wild and negative thoughts
Heartfully laughing in testing circumstances
And out-of-the-box thinking
Are the prescriptions
For sailing over emotions
So that you will enjoy living
Save yourselves
Sail over emotions
Sink not into them

I sit here, sad and lonely,
speaking to the sea.
As it's kindly listening to me,
in this little house that's empty.
Am I lost to be here?
To be in a little house before the sea.
As quiet as it might be,
beautified by tranquility.
Swallow flies above me,
Sunset is in front of me,
But you're not here beside of me,
this little house remains still incomplete.
In this little house,
I wish you come home,
I've been tired and lonesome.
I've stared at the sea for so long and long.
I sit here again, quiet and lonely.
I've been thinking thoughtfully.
From this little house, I see and see,
far off the sea, there's you,
and me..

Stardom or Boredom! A LONELY RED BIRD Flies in My Natural Kingdom!
I am eight and twenty, a lonely rose – no one close to sit with;
Here are no companions nor kin and kith, I live in lonely myth!
Sitting in the empty hall by myself at the day dawn in the white;
I feel awful – awful beyond all – crying gently dusk in the night.
Stardom or boredom! A lonely red bird flies in my natural kingdom!
Harum-scarum! Humdrum! A solo bird beats the lonely drum!
Aloof I am, sitting in the dark; aloof I am, with my lonely bark;
Aloof I am, butterflies helter-skelter in me at lonely gaze!
Aloof I am, there is a void; there is a vacuum in my lonely daze;
Aloof I am sitting with empty ache; aloof I am – a lonely lark.
Stardom or boredom! A lonely red bird flies in my natural kingdom!
Harum-scarum! Humdrum! A solo bird beats the lonely drum!
Aloof I am, these many shocks, lonely talks only for me, tell me why?
Aloof I am, I beg thee – don’t enter my only soul everyday, I say....
Aloof I am, I don’t want to be aloof in anyway – even on holiday;
Aloof I am, I say thee – I don't want to live, I want to die for lonely sigh!
Stardom or boredom! A lonely red bird flies in my natural kingdom!
Harum-scarum! Humdrum! A solo bird beats the lonely drum!
Aloof I am – a sole flower in a field; a sole child does not shield;
Aloof I am – a moonless night, stormy weather sets the tone…….
Aloof I am in turbulent weather, me a solo feather in deserted scene;
Aloof I am, in lonely battle, with a fresh cut I gave up! I yield!
Stardom or boredom! A lonely red bird flies in my natural kingdom!
Harum-scarum! Humdrum! A solo bird beats the lonely drum!

Lonely day
A Lonely day
Its not mines
Its the grestest day of my life
But today it is not.
More lonely days
Much to come by
Days in the lonely time
Tonight is the lonely night
Tonight is the lonely day of my life
Where I lied in the lonely bed
The star I watch was lonely in the night skies
Some day the star won't be lonely
The morning breeze
The lonely morning breeze rises up
The day is the lonely day of my life
These days I can make it happen
Today is the lonely day
A lonely day
Its not mines
Its the greatest day of my life
But today it is not.

The Song of the Beasts
(Sung, on one night, in the cities, in the darkness.)
Come away! Come away!
Ye are sober and dull through the common day,
But now it is night!
It is shameful night, and God is asleep!
(Have you not felt the quick fires that creep
Through the hungry flesh, and the lust of delight,
And hot secrets of dreams that day cannot say?). . . .
. . .The house is dumb;
The night calls out to you. . . Come, ah, come!
Down the dim stairs, through the creaking door,
Naked, crawling on hands and feet
- It is meet! it is meet!
Ye are men no longer, but less and more,
Beast and God. . . . Down the lampless street,
By little black ways, and secret places,
In the darkness and mire,
Faint laughter around, and evil faces
By the star-glint seen - ah! follow with us!
For the darkness whispers a blind desire,
And the fingers of night are amorous.
Keep close as we speed,
Though mad whispers woo you, and hot hands cling,
And the touch and the smell of bare flesh sting,
Soft flank by your flank, and side brushing side -
Tonight never heed!
Unswerving and silent follow with me,
Till the city ends sheer,
And the crook'd lanes open wide,
Out of the voices of night,
Beyond lust and fear,
To the level waters of moonlight,
To the level waters, quiet and clear,
To the black unresting plains of the calling sea.

The House
there is no other place to go
after work
when the darkness of the night
starts to hover
on my roof
this house where i rest my feet
where i put my hands
where i shut my mouth
and you are there
moving from one corner to another
asking where i put some bones
of my body
you sing as you once knew the songs
the ones that i love
that which from where my heart rests
and lulled
this is the house, a mere house
where i put my body
safely
no longer a home
my soul like a little bird had flown somewhere
years ago
i know where it is sleeping
you ask me
but i will not tell you
how will you ever know?
the place
it is so quiet
you are restless and noisy and messy
so loveless
so sad and you keep on laughing taunting
about my loss
my death

Spontaneous Electricity (The Journey)
every time i reach what i think
is the end of my road... something
happens...
storms come, destroying everything
behind me. the moon comes out, and
i find another fork in the path.
voices whisper, and tell me it's
going to be all right... just keep
walking...
i find i own nothing, not even the
clothes on my back... my memories,
merely twigs for the fire.
and what i thought i knew, no more
than tiny sparks in the darkness...
so letting go, i move on...
tired, and weary, too often alone...
i want to pray, but keep looking inward.
i stop to rest, and look up... that same
star from long ago... my spirit humming,
i rise up and go...
tonite, tomorrow, perhaps the end is near,
perhaps far... and i've come to know...
that life is but the journey!

This Afternoon....
you see a black bird
moving opposite your direction
there is no identification for any intimacy
and tired perhaps of
means to get to know you
it flies away
northbound
perhaps someone with the
capacity for intimacy
waits there
who knows
what the language of the black bird is
its beak does not
woodpeck

Starbright
Starligt starbright O I've wished on you many nights
Starlight starbright you always make it right
I can't remember life before you, my star
Tomorrow I won't remember the desperation
I always lose the fight starlight
The first star I see tonight
I need you one more night
Starlight starlight starbright
I need that wish tonight
In the day I'm not so tempted, my star
I even think I'm strong, but darkness falls upon me
All resistance is gone
Starlight starbright O starlight
Can I just use you one more night
You make everything feel right starlight
I wish I may, I wish I might
I wish I didn't need you
Starlight my star.
My Red House
My Red House
Be quiet as a mouse
I once played in that red house
Shy was I, like a little mouse
Tippy toed I went looking around
Giggling, without making any sound
Happy was I to run around and play
My very own home to live and stay
My Red House
Be quiet as a mouse
Darkness came swiftly one night
A sense of something was not quite right
The shadows came across the wall
Covering my eyes, ready for my fall
The sounds of whips and chains dragged
against the floor
The sheer terror numbed me from looking
passed that door
My Red House
Be quiet as a mouse
The darkness slowly turned to grey
The black clouds lifting away
No longer trapped, I did not need to stay
Free was I to let go and make my own way
So ever slowly, opening that door
I could see the light and so much more
My Red House
Be quiet as a mouse
Changing and always moving
Never stopping and always wanting
Step by step, I shed all those tears
One at a time, I climbed up those stairs
Moving closer to where I want to be
No longer a child but an adult me
My Red House
Be quiet as a mouse
I came home today
The Red House, same as it was yesterday
Slowly, walking up that hill
Everything seems to be in a stand still
I could only stay for a while
Before the darkness comes within a mile
My Red House
Be quiet as a mouse
The breath of life you gave to me
But took away the child within me
No longer a pawn to your destruction
I have found my peace and resolution
Turning away towards the path of light
I see a very beautiful sight
My Red House
There is no longer a mouse

A Matter Of Decision
the black bird of loneliness
hovers over the window of the house
and stops to look at
our roof
we shoo it away
there is no place here
where it can build its own nest
we still wait for the bird of bounty
the one that brings us
the eggs of grace
the feathers of happiness
it is the only bird that we welcome here
as a matter of our own decision

A Question And An Answer
what is the meaning of the black bird?
it is the friend of the night
not darkness
neither evil nor curse for it is a singing blackbird
the jolly one that comes
in the month of June
when the rest of the place is preoccupied with
grief,
it is the self that has combined all the colors
red for madness, white for purity, green for envy,
yellow for ripeness, brushing and mixing all these
in unity
the black bird is what i am when you
sit by the window looking for answers to the sea
the moon at night silently
passing by

Lonely
I am lonely
very, very lonely
as I sit here every night.
My heart has passed
the impossible dream
and waits as the darkness calls.
I am lonely
very, very lonely
as I sit here every night.
No one to comfort me
in the wee small hours
before night turns into day.
I am lonely
very, very lonely
as I sit here every night.
Watching the lights go out
as every sleep head
against a pillow falls.
Leaving me lonely
very, very lonely
as my companion of darkness
every night comes to call.
