Talking Too Much
i have said so much
what follows next is regret
why i talk too much
the next thing is
reactionary silence
stubborn silence
chosen option
not to talk for a day
even if it is a case of
an emergency
there is fire in the house
and they're looking for the
fire extinguisher
and i know where i keep it
but i am not telling
because i have said so much
and i still have much regret

Zen
i take to call him zen
i talk talk to zen like
to all the nature around me
zen can you talk back to me
there is a pause and i say
zen can you talk back to me
silence like the silence of nature
are you dead or alive?
i am such a bewildered dweller
i talk to zen like i do to
all the nature around me
nature do you have a mouth
talk back to me
silence
then this tranquil feel
this feel of zen reacting to all nature, to me
but no talk, just silence
then i say zen
well if you let me do all the talking?
zen zen zen i know you will one day
be more cruel, do the leaving,
not a sigh, not a word
so why dont you talk to me now?
i talk to nature hoping it will talk back to me
but like zen, it is all quiet, silence
i even pull his leg, i say zen you have
sprouted a mole, a wrinkle, a line here and there
and i say you are smart and i suddenly
feel a contentment manoevres him a little
but then i ask again, and again
zen is it my own ego boiling over?
zen, zen please tell me
till then you may stay the way you are

Where Is My Fire Extinguisher?
My house is ablaze
Set on fire by my own kids
Who are fire playing with fire
But are arrogantly so
Burning their own mother inside
From corner to corner and rummage
Looking for my fire extinguisher
Under the bed; behind the charcoal
I search everywhere but find it not
And then I opened the flour drum
There lay mixed in the maize flour
The extinguisher while I
All the while, burning in the fire
Choke in the smoke.
Through the kitchen window I escape
Breaking my limbs after the great fall
Leaving in hell my other children
Roasting in the fire their siblings had lit
Crying out for help from their helpless mother
I in turn had to call for help
Neighbors from far and near headed
My good neighbor Koffi Annan came
Oh! The imported fire extinguisher!
Thank you sir for saving us
But now, let me bury some
Of my kids who burnt alive
As I remember that golden handshake!

This Early Morning With You Talking And Talking
regret, it is with deep regret that i tell you
that i regret sitting on this
computer chair
and facing the screen
and i am here writing for you
as you talk and talk
and talk and talk
like a quacking duck
oh Adam did not lay eggs,
or have the temerity to hatch them and so the chickens came first
how nice of you
regret that is all i feel now
i could have gone
out and take my walk
i could have read
the most wonderful poetry
of the trail
the line of green mahogany trees
blooming with their summer leaves
the sun finally coming out
with an array of clouds
and white herons
gliding and landing
on ricefields
and grasses creeping
and covering
the mud and the stones
indeed, it would have
been lovelier that way
and i should have
been happier
than simply sitting
and writing
and feeling
what poetry should
not be
this early morning
with you
what a hell!

Ignoring Silence
We all relish in silence
at sometimes in our lives
and there are many kinds of silence.
There is the tense silence on battlefields
heard just before an attack begins.
The relaxing silence at the end of the day
when the world seems a million miles away
and then there is the ignoring silence.
This comes when people you want to talk to
but whom turn away and talk to someone else
leaving you feeling isolated in silence
not knowing what you have done
and hurting because your words will never be heard.

Some things are better unspoken
I sit with my silence
Sit down for a talk
Silence dressed in Grey
Does not want to talk
I stare intently into
Her eyes, she looks down
She has something to hide
'Silence why don't you speak'
I persuade, she shakes her
Head from side to side
With tears in her eyes,
'Hush! don't cry my dear,
You will talk only
When you want to, till then
Silence, be as you are'.

In my mind I talk of love, but love does not talk of me
In silence we love, in silence we art free
When there is nothing going on around
That is when there is something sweet in our sound
Silence, silence, is our love
The silence of all secret love
Where charm insinuates
And our words dissipates
Into tender looks of affection
In silence are love is perfection
My love speak forever more
As I sit here and stare and silently adore!

Ironic Life
How Ironic life is...
I smile- but the madness of a dying soul was written on my face.
I laugh- but serene sadness was painted on my eyes.
I talk and talk but hide the secrets
till i found myself in my own silence.
Silence is pure, but silence poisons the soul.
See me now broken as you made me whole before.
How ironic love is...
I drank the cup of Love
though i know it is poisonous.
Now i lost the man i loved the most.
And our story is lost in silence,
lost with the wind.
I cant remember how happy i had been.
How ironic love is...
he who survives me, snared my soul;
with a snare which bled me to death.
There is something about death like love itself.
Now i see myself as a lifeless soul;
like a broken-winged eagle facing his fall.
How ironic life is...
it started as fire,
till the fire is nothing but a light.
It takes life to understand this ironic life!

Silence...
I wanted to talk,
but don't know what to say
Silence...
I got nervous,
and looked away.
Silence...
I read what you wrote,
but can't put my reaction into words
Silence...
My inability to speak,
sometimes it hurts
Silence...
I didn't want you
to misunderstand what I said
Silence...
So I kept quiet,
lest our faces turn red
Silence...

Silence
Death stroke of a moment
Or keeper of a memory
Mourner of a regret
Or peaceful contentment
Holding for an eternity
Passed within a single breath
Silence
For whatever its reason
Kept in precision
The imperfect honesty
Of what remains unsaid
That never heard
Silence
Meaning so much
Yet so little
Silence
Echoes endless

In Silence
We talk in silence
We speak in exchanging breath
We argue in silence
We battle with our stare
We think in silence
We travel in our mind
We promise in silence
We create the secret better
We sing in silence
We smile in radiant melody
We enjoy in silence
We move with our body
We share in silence
We stay in each other arms
We love in silence
We grow the hope of warmth
We hate in silence
We shake in every fiber being
We pray in silence
We enchant the words in heart
We long in silence
We drown in loneliness
We break in silence
We flow soundless tears
We walk in silence
We tell our story in footprint
We listen in silence
We could hear numerous voices

Rumi's silence
Rumi wrote much about silence.
Does that seem strange?
Poets live with silence:
the silence before the poem;
the silence whence the poem comes; .
the silence in between the words, as you
drink the words, watch them glide through your mind,
feel them slide down your throat
towards your heart;
the silence which you share with the poet
when the poem ends, sitting side by side,
feeling one another being one heart;
the silence after the poem,
when you are a different person
from the person who started reading the poem,
think differently, move differently,
act differently; know Rumi a little better
as a friend; know yourself a little more
as a friend.
Rumi was asked, why do you
talk, talk, talk, so much
about silence?
He said, the radiant one inside me
has said nothing.
And that’s the silence which we listen to
and hear in Rumi’s heart,
here, sitting in the cool shade
which the scent of roses seems to love,
while the fountain gently plays like a poet
with sound and silence.

Silence Must Be Heard
(m.cretu.)
.
Look into the others eyes, many frustrations
Read between the lines, no words just vibrations
Dont ignore hidden desires
Pay attention, youre playing with fire
Silence must be heard, noise should be observed
The time has come to learn, that silence ...
Silence must be heard
Or diamonds will burn, friendly cards will turn
Cause silence has the right to be heard
People talk too much for what they have to say
Words without a meaning, just fading away
Silence must be heard, noise should be observed
The time has come to learn, that silence ...
Silence must be heard
Or diamonds will burn, friendly cards will turn
Cause silence has the right to be heard

Silence And I
(lead vocal - eric woolfson)
If i cried out loud
Over sorrows i've known
And the secrets i've heard
It would ease my mind
Someone sharing the load
But i won't breathe a word
We're two of a kind
Silence and i
We need a chance to talk things over
Two of a kind
Silence and i
We'll find a way to work it out
While the children laughed
I was always afraid
Of the smile of the clown
So i close my eyes
Till i can't see the light
And i hide from the sound
We're two of a kind
Silence and i
We need a chance to talk things over
Two of a kind
Silence and i
We'll find a way to work it out
I can hear the cry
Of the leaf on a tree
As it falls to the ground
I can hear the call
Of an echoing voice
And there's no one around
We're two of a kind
Silence and i
We need a chance to talk things over
Two of a kind
Silence and i
We'll find a way to work it out

This House Is On Fire (live 1983)
(A. Young M. Young B. Johnson)
Yonder she walks
Yonder she walks
Hitting 103
A little tongue in cheek
Hot personality
She bring on the flames
And it's burning it's burning
My body's achin' tossin' and turnin'
This house is on fire
This house is on fire
This house is on fire
And the flame is gonna burn in
You
She got me runnin' for shelter
Needing quarantine
She got me red hot and wired
Call on emergency
She bring on the flames
And it's burning it's burning
My body's achin' tossin' and turnin'
This house is on fire
This house is on fire
This house is on fire
And the flame is gonna burn in
You
You got me burnin' and burnin'
You got me tossin' and turnin'
This house is on fire
House is on fire
This house is on fire
House is on fire
This house is on fire
This house is on fire
House is on fire
And the flame is gonna burn in
I'll bet it's gonna burn
I'm gonna burn
You

about you
what shall i say about you?
ah, i prefer my
silence
this is my cure about
you
yes, my silence
it shall speak about
you my silence
my very own silence
to speak about your
long silence
now we are at peace
in our silence
both shall speak about
us yes our silence
our marital silence in
the silence of our bed
the root of all our
troubles freud say is in
the silence of our beds
two beds now
four meters apart
speaking in silence
the silence of the house
and the chairs
and the staircases
and the carpets and
the ticks and the
empty glasses or those
cold coffee and
frozen butter.

I can hear in the silence
The silence of our conversation
Is worse than anything you can say
And that fact that there's but silence between us
Is well to my dismay
I love you so much
Yet silence is the only thing I let escape
...... ....... ...... ....... ........ .......
Silence draped over our conversations
Like a long, black cape
There's so much I want to tell you
But I know I wouldn't
And I want to scream at you
But I know I shouldn't
...... ....... ...... ....... ........ .......
I know you want to say something too
Of this I'm sure
But it is only so little
That you or I will endure
The few times we talk
I can hear it in you voice
I can her uncertainty
And the need to make a choice
...... ....... ...... ....... ........ .......
I wish silence would leave
Once and for all
Then maybe we could have better communication
Perhaps even outside a phone call
And I try so hard
Just like I try to make this poem rhyme
But it just takes too much effort
And way too much time
But you can't expect me to let silence take over
And if you do you are very wrong
And if we continue like this
We won't be together long
And I bet that's what you want
....
........
............
......... .......
The silence continues.....
And so does this game
What's worst is I know
That I'm the only one to blame
It's all my fault
It's because of what I did and didn't do
And it hurts so much
Because I'm so in love with you
...... ....... ...... ....... ........ .......
I can hear in the silence
What I've heard for some time
You don't say anything
But I know what's on your mind
You leave behind silence
In the dark abyss that is my heart
And what's worst is
I, myself, tore it apart
...... ....... ...... ....... ........ .......
When I realized what I was doing
It was already too late
Just another
Twist of my terrible fate
And silence took over
A silence caused by me
A silence that's eternal
A silence that won't leave
................
............
.... ....
....

I Have Always Liked Your Silence
as you sit beside me
i have always liked your silence
running deep inside
my veins
like good blood.
i hate the way i always talk
but i could not stop
lest we both be silent
and sounding nothing
but dead
i am coping up with
what lack you have
and i envy you
for that
you are determined
in this silence
i am hesitant and prefer
my persistent noise
at least for the meantime
that we are waiting
for nothing to come
i like your
silence but i guess
you have nothing to say
and too
prefer
my talk, my restlessness
my world
where you cling
in the middle of your
sorrow.
