everything's changed.
the park is gone.
the tree is cut.
the creek dried.
a row of houses here.
the residents talk different languages.
i can't find the big stone anymore.
the walls have gone higher
and i can no longer see the bend
of the road. People move to places.
and we come back to reminisce.
some strings of light. some shapes of shadows.
we try to figure out.
what was there once.
i see you. you see me.
we know what to say.
we know what to do.
what we did once.
amidst all these changes.
we decided there will be no changes.

Ruins
Its so quiet in the ruins walking though the old town
Stones crumbling under my feet I see smoke for miles around
Oh its enough to make you weep, all that remains of the main street
Up in the park on sunday, dogs chasing and the children played
Old man with his head down, cant see nothing more around...no
But he remembers how it used to be, back in the old days,
So nice to see you coming back in this town again
Its nice to see a friendly face come peeping through having tea
In the afternoon, so nice to see you coming back in this town again...
Ah but its all changed winter turned on a man
Came down on day when no-one was looking and it
Stole away the land, people running scared, losing hands
Dodging shadows of falling sand, buildings standing like empty shells
And nobody...helping no-one else

Between The Cebu-Bacolod Skyways
i like the window
this is where i usually sit on my plane rides
upon the mountains below
the clouds are sleeping as they move
like fish
they say sleep
and yet flow with the movement of the waves
and then
discover
as one wakes up that this is no longer
the same place
but another set of mountains
fencing a new city
your destination
at night when you arrive there
as the plane makes its
touchdown
you want to find another feeling
like you are another driftwood
transported anew
to another bank of the river
the feeling is like an old ancestral house
you remember
the past like all those clouds that you pass
by in different shapes
back-grounded by a shift of orange
and yellow lights
until something clears them out
blinded
or you become a
blank piece of paper
searching for
new words, and yet, and this is sad,
it is the same
nothing's changed

Summer And A Dog
Summer and a Dog
Pure sunlight on a forever blue sky, wasn’t there s a song by
Cliff Richard about “Happy Summer Holiday? ” Beaches full of
laughing people. Yes, I remember it well. Out of the sun glare
came an emaciated dog, lost, it must have walked for weeks,
but in the summer light no one had seen it. Near the houses it
collapsed under a bush, I brought some water, left it alone.
When the shadows got longer I brought food for it too, but
it didn’t need food anymore. The villagers came, no, no one
had seen this dog; an untold suffering had come to an end.
Wrapped the dog in a plastic bag, put it in the bin by the road.
The sun was blood orange now and shadows so deep that we
could see again. Too much sunlight is blinding.

She was a friend to me when I needed one
Wasnt for her I dont know what Id done
She gave me back something that was missing in me
She could of turned out to be almost anyone
Almost anyone--

Of who I wanted her to be

What Life Is Like
Life is good to the nice in
every way but it is dark and gloomy
with thunder and lightning storms.
That's the way it goes for the bad people
but still the sad people read sad books,
read like sad people, walk like sad people,
look like sad people and talk like sad people
but beware don't talk to the mad people
because they will blame it on you.
leave them in the corner because they may get over it
