Self-denial....

when old age visits
actually you do not immediately detect its presence
somehow you love to deny
its inevitability
you keep yourself busy and
focus on the strengths
and flexibility of youth
until you finally find it
sitting beside you
and both of you are drunk
making merry
trying to forget the numbers
as the wrinkles
become visible
spreading all over your
body
your skin losing the luster
turning into
a waistline larger
than what you think
and you look at yourself in the mirror
oh God
what an oversized shirt
what a lousy pair of pants
you cannot even recognize
that the bald man
in front of you
is really you but thanks God
you were given
the bonus of
these unearned years

Reflection

Mirror, mirror on the wall,
Why do I look in you, at all,
For all I see is the same old me,
And not how I so want to be.

Mirror, mirror on the stairs,
Why do you show me many years,
A face with wrinkles everywhere,
Would anybody like my share.

Mirror, mirror near my bed,
In you I look with certain dread,
For creams and potions just don't work,
Behind them still the wrinkles lurk.

Mirror, mirror in the hall,
Seeing you makes me recall,
That I am now of senior age,
Well stuck into the wrinkles stage.

Mirror, mirror by the door,
How I hate you more and more,
I'm having to look the other way,
When my reflection's on display.

Body Of A Man

what i lost
was simply my body
the flat abdomen
gave in to negligent
fats
my strong muscled
arms
got the flab

i detest what my
mirror shows me

this is not me
i tell myself

this is me
the truth insists

too much sitting
too much poetry

the thinking finally
kills the body
the spirit soars

this is the real me
forget the body
i finally proclaim
myself before me
Creator

Its Okay

[female talking spanish]
I like that...
You tellin me you wanna come over
But girl Id told ya
I dont know if I could control myself
Id love to just kiss and hold ya
Movies, popcorn, and soda
But imagine us all by ourselves
Wed be kissin, skin to skin, wearin nothin (nothin)
Who knows where we end (help)
But you can stay
If you really want...
Its okay...
[chorus]
Its okay
Its alright
You can spend the night
If you promise that youll hold me
Tight
And I would like
For you to love me
Love me
Baby, its okay
Its alright
You can spend the night
If you promise that youll hold me
Tight
And I would like
For you to love me
Love me
(I) lately Ive been thinkin to myself
If I ever had you alone
What Id do to you
What youd do to me
Everything in between
But wait...
I dont wanna hurry you
Dont get it twisted though, babygirl
Cause I aint scared of you
Therell be kissin (kissin), skin to skin (skin to skin), wearin nothin (nothin)
Who knows where we end (help)
But you can stay
If you really want...
Its okay...
[chorus]
Cause...
Baby I wanna make love (make love)
But I dont wanna rush (rush you)
You mean everything to me though
To make you...happy...is what
What I want to do
I dreamed of this for so long
And if its what you want
Cmon now...
Kissin (kissin), skin to skin, well be wearin nothin
Who knows where we end
But you can stay
If you really want...
Its okay...
[chorus]
First comes off the shirt
Then
Then comes off that pants
Then
Then comes off the bra
Then
First comes off the shirt
Then
Then comes off that pants
Then
Then comes off the bra
Then
First comes off the shirt
Then
Then comes off that pants
Then
Then comes off the bra
Then
First comes off the shirt

My Love In A Mirror

She stood there
looking at herself...
at the beauty God bestowed on her
in front of this mirror

I stood behind her, wrapping my soul around her
my dark brown arms against her pale skin,
covering her nakedness
in front of this mirror

Our bodies stirred, feeling the fire
remembering our lovemaking earlier,
and previous times we have stood here
in front of this mirror

Like this very moment, her eyes
arresting me, her soul possessing me,
the warmth of my body against hers
in front of this mirror

My Mirror

The mirror and I have this relationship
complicated as can be;
sometimes my shadow it is
non-consequential.
But other times I gaze
for minutes on end
to see which me
lives there
gazing back at me.

Sometimes I wince
touching the tiny scratches
to see
if they are in the mirror
or in my skin.

I've looked naked into it
turning slowly
front back
and sideways
using my critical eye;
not so bad here
gravity winning there.

I have this relationship
with my mirror
complicated it seems.

But it lights up times
when I suddenly
feel your arm
at my shoulder's edge;

when your light
shines in my mirror's eye.

I want to keep you there
for this
and many years.

I have had this complicated relationship
with my mirror
uncomplicated
by you and all these
many years.

Pinch

i look at my face wrinkles are being drawn like a plow making furroughs
on the ricefield,

wrinkles, i am getting wrinkles,

i look at my arms and i touch it, they are loose now, like some clothes
hanging loosely in my body, emaciated by lack of nutrition,

i look at my hear, i open it like a pettry cash box, i see some scars
and some loose coins for change, i like to break it open and leave
it that way, i am saddened by this

emptiness, this pain,

i stand now in the mirror with a picture on hand of my youth

i look many times finding how
time drenched me with old age, my hands beginning to tremble my
mind forgetting more and more of those memories of my youth,

i refresh myself, i get this clip and pinch myself, i remember

i am still alive, and that is luck enough, a friend of mine just died today,
cardian arrest,
and i am trying to do some little thinking, what if i will be next?

i am finite, i pinch myself some more, some more, some more.....

till i turn blue, till i bleed, who cares?

Androgynoustic Visits

Unprepared and unsuspected changes
In evolution comes.
Mother Nature is providing a solution...
To bridge and together snap,
A sexual revolution gap for some.
Unrecognizable...
Are they who once suffered from attacks,
Of differences between men and women
When androgynoustic visits gets
To plant similar features both front and back!
And in future days
No one can detect or say...
Which are the lesbians,
And what straight man is actually gay!
These will be the times,
That will find many blind.
As restrictions of this kind finally fade away!

I'm As Young As I Was

I stand
In front of the mirror daily
I ask myself
What has changed in me?
Between yesterday and today
I do not get an answer
I feel I am as young as I was
This goes on for years
I see white hairs
Wrinkles on the face
One day
Have I become old?
I ask myself
I do not get an answer
I feel I am as young as I was
Life goes on and on
One day
I find it difficult to stand
My image in the mirror
Looks blurred
Hands tremble
When combing the hair
Have I become old?
I ask myself
I do not get an answer
I feel I am as young as I was
One day I am in bed
I am told,
I am sick and old
No, I say
I may be old in age
But not at heart
In the mind
I am as young as I was
I got well
I still stand
In front of the mirror daily

Losing You

(orbison-dees)
Teardrops tell me that Im losing you
Lost and lonely and Im losing you
Dreams remind me that Im losing you
Heartaches find me and Im losing you
If you could forget that love affair
I wonder
If you could how much would you still care
Its no use now for Im losing you
No excuse now yes Im losing you
I love you much more than yesterday
In sorrow
I love you less than tomorrow
I love you with all my love today
But I guess I threw your love away
Im losing you
What can I do?
I dont want to but Im losing you.

I Went To The Mirror

In a voice soaked with euphoria:
I went to the mirror this morning
I looked in the mirror instead
The first thing to come into focus
Was a face wrapped all around my head
Theres something sticking out of the middle
I guess its my nose (I suppose)
I just dont recognize those eyes
All these years Ive been watching from the other side
The voice is now one of brutal stupefication. the underlying question is - if
You went crazy, would you know it?
Uh oh, here I go thinking them crazy thoughts again.
Who is that there? you mean I been walking around
In that all these years? whats it all about?
Wheres it all at? I dont want to get heavy but
What am I doing here? uh
My lip has a dark spot upon it
(the voice of a mature adult whos comprehensive
Capacity has suddenly been reduced to that of a
Cherrystone clam)
My teeth look like plastic in chips
And there on my chin I discover
One lonely red and arrogant zit
I went about my business this morning
You got to get out of bed and make that bread
But try as I may to get away
I wont forget what I seen in the mirror today
Boogie on out to a brand new day.
Get off your back and dance!
I seen my eyes. I seen my nose. my lips. my teeth.
My, my gums. I seen my gums! I looked all the way
Down my throat! I looked at my ears. I looked real
Hard at my ears. I looked at my hair. I think Im going
Bald. I had hair all over the sink or something...

She Masters Now The Art Of Losing

at first she lost a coin
then her purse and then her bag and then her blouse
and then her skirt and pants and then it went back to losing her underwears

until she becomes naked

she gets used to losing and when she finally lost herself
she did not complain

she is used to losing she has mastered losing as a form of art itself
she has become an artist and losing has become her main business

now, i have loved her and i am having this problem
of finding her

i guess i must learn too, this art of losing

In the steps of Rumi 86: The Mirror

This mirror.
She has stood in front of it for many minutes;
this; that;
finally asked the mirror silently
its opinion.
The mirror agreed with the perfection
that she saw in herself now, in front of it..

Now she leaves the room.
The mirror has nothing to reflect.
While it’s reflecting nothing,
steal up to it from the side,
admire it. Maybe praise it
by polishing it. Wonder, how it is
that it has an in front of it,
yet no behind it.

Wonder how it is
that it never lies,
always tells the truth,
yet agrees with all we see in it..

Wonder too, how it brings
all who stand in front of it, to silence..
bestows this rare blessing upon all,
which is beyond the ability of men,
of books..

Somewhere where ideas emerge
from nowhere into somewhere,
then roam anywhere and everywhere,
mind and mirror were given a secret which they share.

Sonnet- The Aging World

Our earth is going bald, losing its trees!
The people turning greyer as years pass;
Tornadoes come often; there is no breeze!
The old citizens forming larger mass.

Just as in politics, older men thrive!
Despite brain-atrophy, they think a lot;
Eccentric demeanor keeps them alive;
As some have turned into a mere zealot.

The world employs old men, paying them less,
And tries to suppress younger men, women;
The aged look better off nevertheless!
I wonder if the same is in Heaven.

And Geriatrics is much sought a field;
The world is bothered not about to its yield.

Anything To Rhyme Is This Me Can Anyone See Can I?

can anyone understand can anyone see
can anyone know me
can i even take this task
if i ever find the answer i savor it yet i will still ask
is this really it... we always think we are more then we truly are so important...
are we not? to ourselves it seems we focus too much on 'me' such a portent
that foreshadows demise
pride before the fall eh cant you see it in my eyes?
but honestly i find myself just asking away
every single day
i cant escape the question looking at the mirror or simply staring down...
is this me is this the same me they really see? how can i truly be sure?
such things just make me frown
trying to understand just trying to figure something out.. is the truth pure
right there? in the mirror is it me can i look down deep into the very depths
dare i go so far with me or anyone else to what would i find sometimes
i wish not to know others i want nothing but to know, Like an addict with meths
meths are like alcohols that cannot be drunk, i describe in rhymes,
they cannot be drunk because of added ingredients and violet dye
i hope to answer this question i do not have to die....
maybe one day someone maybe even me can see truly who is here

Merry Merry Xmas

Peace to the world from the new kids on the block, we are here,
Were spreading all our joy, spreading all our love and our cheers.
Cheerful sleigh bells ring, choir children sing,
Its peace and love and harmony we bring.
Hail, merry christmas, merry, merry christmas
To all our sisters and brothers
Hail, merry christmas, merry, merry christmas
Let all of the world join our hands.
Theres a feeling in the air, its beginning to look like christmas everywhere.
Hear the gentle sounds of the snowflakes trickle down without a care.
People stop and stare, the christmas tree is there,
A star on top which nothing cant compare.
Hail, merry christmas, merry, merry christmas
Its all about peace and understanding
Hail, merry christmas, merry, merry christmas
Let all of the world lend a hand
A time for me, a time for you,
Theres enough of love to last our whole life through
Hail, merry...

Underneath

Waking up this morning thinking
Maybe this can't be real
And they say there is nothing love can't heal
Why don't you come on down
So you can feel what I feel
Sitting all alone in this place
Even though we're here face to face
There is nothing gone but there's something wrong
Can't you see that I'm stuck here underneath
And you're making it hard to breathe
Take a look around and tell me what you see
You'll find me
Underneath
Said Underneath
I know what to say but don't know where to begin
I fear I'm losing you beneath my skin
What is the resoloution for this pain that I'm in?
Sitting all alone in this place
Even though we're here face to face
There is nothing gone but there's something wrong
Can't you see that I'm stuck here underneath
And you're making it hard to breathe
Take a look around and tell me what you see
You'll find me
Underneath
Said Underneath
Oh whoa oh whoa oh
If only you could feel what I dream
Baby you could hear what I mean
There is nothing gone but there's something missing
Can't you see that I'm stuck here underneath
And you're making it hard to breathe
Take a look around and tell me what you see
You'll find me
Underneath
Said you'll find me
Underneath
Underneath
Said Underneath

Deny it with elegance, deny it with distraction
Deny it with anger, deny it with challenge
Deny it with promise, deny it with comfort
Deny it with tear, deny it with emotion
Deny it with effort, deny it with cruelty

About You

[verse 1]
I've been thinking lately about You
When it hit me from nowhere, out of the gray
Everything's been coming together
(pre-chorus)
Now that I've moved beyond myself
And wrapped my head around something else
[chorus]
It's not about me, it's gotta be about You
(everyday and...)
All I wanna see is who You're turning me into
(in every way and...)
I will not forget that You said You'd always lead me through
To who I wanna be, making every part of me about You
[verse 2]
I've been spending so much time disconnected
I was searching for perfection inside myself
But I finally turned away from my reflection
(pre-chorus)
I saw Your world outside my door
And everything that I've been looking for
[chorus]
It's not about me, it's gotta be about You
(everyday and...)
All I wanna see is who You're turning me into
(in every way and...)
I will not forget that You said You'd always lead me through
To who I wanna be, making every part of me about You
[bridge]
So I'll lay down my pride 'cause You laid down Your life
And I'm giving up all that's holding me back
And clinging to You
And you'll lead me through
'Cause You always do
I will not forget that You said You'd always lead me through
To who I wanna be, making every part of me about You
[chorus]
It's not about me, it's gotta be about You
(everyday and...)
All I wanna see is who You're turning me into
(in every way and...)
I will not forget that You said You'd always lead me through
To who I wanna be, making every part of me about You

The Story Of A Less Sexyful Politician (Or And All I Got Was This Lousy Shirt)

I took the raven out for a walk
I watched the mud turn to the stones
I taught each parrot nuances of talk
I brushed the uniforms of all the dead clones
I was strict and stern never meant to flirt
and all I got was this lousy shirt

I drove the sane to the insane
The peaceful to the rage of their bones
I served my best but it was all in vain
For neither the social nor the lones
Paid any tribute now I feel hurt
'cause all I got was this lousy shirt

Will someone try to figure out explain
The causes dragged to the edge of effects
Will someone say why memory selects
The most hideous of all the refrains
The least profitable of all the gains

Even the poorest boy's got his breeches
The most stupid dwells in world's riches
Even the ugliest girls got skirts
and all I got was this lousy shirt
