rAT 1
IF you read any of my poems
do not think that i am in there.
if you think that i am in there
you will lose yourself
you will be like a stone dropped
in the middle of the ocean
thinking that i am part of the corals
or that i assume the shape of the
shark
or hitch upon a sperm whale
and then you expect that i can take
you to places
No. If you read any of my poems
think that it is not me in there
but someone else, like a rat
or a pig, or a dog
the one that looks for something else
you know what rats look for
cheese, you know what pigs look for,
left-overs, you know what dogs look for,
the bone
then if you have finally finished reading
the poem
try reflecting light from the mirror under
the bed
and see if there is a face inside it
try pondering
or try not even thinking about any of those
that drifting cloud resting upon the shoulder
of the hill
or the sun shining like a king
or the moon cool upon the marshes
savoring the peace of the night
upon the river's face
now, you are here
there is nothing in there except those
feelings.
and you know of course what feelings are.
because you are one of them.
cool air, silent sighs, heart beats,
rushes of red blood on your cheeks
the angry word, the proposition of solitude
the pat on the shoulder
and then the drying of tears
and too
the unstoppable laughter
the smile.

Do not read my poems…. [for YOU ]
Do not read my poems…
After I am dead
As a lament, a wail
An elegy, a requiem
Do not read my poems…
After I am gone
When no more I can
Hear your velvet voice.
Do not read my poems…
Alone without me
To comment along
And read with you
But, do read my poems
When I beside you lie
With my head resting
On your supporting arm
Listening to you read
In whisper, in kisses
In silence, in love
In sleep, in dream
Watching you feel
Every word I wrote
I’ll close my eyes - Love
Brush aside my hair
With your breathe
Which half veils my face
Sleepless fevered I wrote
Read me my poems
Now sing me a lullaby
Rock me to sleep
On your broad chest
Diving into your eyes
A thousand times
I am refreshed
By your smile
I’ll write on you a poem
Traced by my fingertips
To be etched in your heart
And burnt into your soul!
So, do not read my poems…

I Am Sorry....
so you really read my poems?
are you then
reading me?
are you going inside my
heart and mind?
are you a blood corpuscle now
traveling inside my veins?
are you another strange thought
on a journey to my
brain?
are there lapses or
synapses?
do you see my heart
beating inside
my body?
i guess i have to say
i am sorry
it is never me.
I am the other people.
I am the old man who
lost a house
I too am the old woman
who lost a son
in the war
I am too the child
abandoned in the street
Sometimes i am
the moon resting on the
bosom of a river
Last night i was the
sea breeze
refreshing drying the tears
of a woman
abused
Tonight i am someone else
that i met in the
street
soon i will choose
whether i should be a
carpet or
the tick
so will you still read me?
you want to enclose me
in my own work?
sorry, you called the
wrong number.

Why Should I Have A Poem?
WHY SHOULD I HAVE A POEM?
Why should I have a poem?
Who am I to have a poem?
Who is anyone to have a poem?
But then again
Aren’t we all poems?
Many poems
And each one of us many voices
And who knows how deep feelings
We ourselves cannot understand
And lingerings of beauty
We can ourselves barely decipher?
Who knows what a poem is
And what life means
And why we write and read
And what words move us
In the middle of the night
Or at the end of the day
When even our dreams are asleep?

when you read a poem do not expect too much
when you read a poem do not expect too much
from every word
my words too falter and fall short
of strength like the runner who always wins his sprint
and now in his worst state
mourns for his knee
which is broken
my images too wilt like some red roses that
a lover offered once to his true love
but now deserted
and looks at them in the state of dryness
when you read this poem do not therefore expect too much
this is just a sigh
looking for an opening in the crevices of an understanding heart
this poem is just a mirror and you will be the face who must
give your smile
the light from the window shall provide the glimmer

This Poem Has Feelings
This poem has feelings
This a poem of sorrow, hurt and pain
This is a poem of struggle, sufferation and poverty
This poem has feelings
Stabbing beats
kill my joy with a sad song
This poem will speak
This poem will fight
This poem is angry
This poem has feelings
Cruel thoughts run and rule my thinking
Uncognitive, unrational, jut cold and hardhearted
This poem has feelings

Are My Poems Finished/ And I Finished With Them?
ARE MY POEMS FINISHED/ AND I FINISHED WITH THEM?
Are my poems finished
And I finished with them?
Each day has a beauty of its own
Light, wind, trees, colors, flowers.
All I see
The cracks in the grey pavement before me.
The cool cool wind at my back
The prayer ahead.
Even this poem is not properly finished
And I a fool racing and rushing
Through another
Again and again and again.

Max Strong, Some Notes
maxie, the poems are there on a silver platter
you do not even have to read them
you are not called upon to understand each word
(thought each is carefully chosen
to suit a mood, a value, an image
to appear logical and relevant
reverent and working hard to appease
some emotions like a cool fan
to go with hot summer or a hot tea
for the rainy day under the thatched
roofing of the mountain hut)
there are no hours reserved in the making
of a poem, but i accept there is a broken dam
a leaking reservoir of feelings wanting to
be free and claim even a whole village,
bizarre thoughts of a catastrophe
but it need not be that, could simply be
a beehive where each day each worker
goes to the flowers and get the nectar
for their queenbee, for the colony
sweet labot sweet reservoir of words)
by then, on an impulse a poem is made
a quick flash of light, like thunder and lightning
i close some windows i open some
i slam the door i close gently some
it is simply unpredictable like some
(oh yes, they have said it before)
like a candle that melts itself and
then like tears they always take shape
on the side of the body-this poetry
always going for something unplanned
unscheming to the least, it just flows
like thoughts after a nap, like the imaginations
of a child dreaming his eyes anchoring on
that mountain with fog and mists.....
some clouds taking shape on the horizon
brooms, witches, princess, rabbits,
UFO'S or some flower-clouds
the face of God, the face of the one you love
don't sweat it out, they mean nothing
but by then, when you read them like
you are not thinking, the thoughts come
like angels like some prophets with
drops of fire landing on their foreheads
serendipity, aha! aha! there it is
your face in the mirror, like a ghost that you see
passing by and then suddenly gone
you cannot even believe that it is there
was it there? convince yourself, there was not any
except your mind, there was a lapse of memory somewhere
a leak of disbelief, but you swear there was really
someone, there was this white thing this face
a ghost, you swear there was something in that poem
and you read again, but you are tired, so much pressure
has been put to understand, sleep now, do not waste your time
it is precious, and this one does not deserve a minute
of your comprehension, a second of misappreciation...
what was there? nothing, i assure you, there is nothing
but just a ghost wanting to pretend that it is real

Poems About.
There are poems that you will never see
Marked in a folder titled 'privacy'
Poems of hate and anger and personal pain
Poems about greed and hunger and personal gain
Poems about people I would love to see dead
Poems about women I met
Poems about relationships that have gone bad
Poems about issues with mom and dad
Poems about me, the person no one knows
Poems about places where only my soul goes
Poems I wish I could place in the clouds for all to read
Poems about lust, selfishness and greed
Poems I know will hurt those I hate
Poems I write by complete mistake
Poems I have hidden in my heart and my head
Poems about things that are better left unsaid
Poems I want to share and poems I want to retract
Poems of shame and how others might act
They stay in my psyche, they are a part of me
These poems I write, but you will never see.

Going Fishing
Going fishing for some poems
I haven’t caught before
Sailing in the ocean
Far from the sandy shore
Going to take the works of Shakespeare
Use his words as living bait
Going to cast them far and wide
And in the moonlight wait
I may catch a slippery conger
I’ve heard they send out shocks
Best I wear some gloves
And a pair of rubber socks
It may be the whale who saved Jonah from the deep
I’ll thank him for his mercy and let his life him keep
I’ll tell him to read the Tempest where forgiveness rules the sea
Then I’ll row home in happiness and ever more shall be.
But what if I catch a shark who tears bodies limb from limb
I’ll say go seek the whale and find forgiveness there within
I’ll fish right through the darkness till the western skies are bright
I’ll throw back the empty poems and just keep the one’s with light
You may think I'm cuckoo crazy fishing for poems in the sea
But where on earth do they come from? it’s not inside of me
I’ve looked inside my ears and deep down inside my throat
They seem to come from somewhere, and it’s not inside my coat.

Like So Many Poems I Read
LIKE SO MANY POEMS I READ
Like so many poems I read
These poems I am reading now
Are not poems to me.
They are too detached
Too abstract
Too up in the air.
I want to hear the words
Make a music of feeling
In my soul.
A poem must move me
If it is to be real.
Why then do I write these words
as if a poem?

Sleep
After your laughter like thunder
After your skin like coffee and cream
After it takes our bodies into the night
After we've come to the extreme
I want to lay down on your shoulder
Just inside your arm
I want to listen to your heart beat
And your breathing on and on
I want to lay down on your shoulder
Surrender to your peace
And go to sleep
And when we've gone a million miles
Made true our dreams with sweat and bone
After we've built it up with our bare hands
Made strong a place we can call home
And when the light in my eye is fading
When running water becomes too deep
Finally angels turn my fire to dust
And when my soul's no longer mine to keep
I want to lay down on your shoulder
Just inside your arm
I want to listen to your heartbeat
And your breathing on and on
I want to lay down on your shoulder
Surrender to the peace
And just go to sleep

Mask of My Heart
As the cloud went to black
We lost our way back
As the sun set to night
No smiles of something bright
Lonely the moon bounced the starlight
When blood became cold as frostbite
Bleeding inside till black from red
Let the honesty fainted bed
They broke words of silent voices
Without harm with many chances
Never to see the truth
Nor then to face the truth
All remained invisible sight
Black blocked the white to face to light
Broken the heart of smiling face
When sense was gone no eyes to gaze
It turned into the silent noise
Black without smile and cheer but voice
Whispering tears dropped inside heart
It hurt it broke Mask of my heart

Mirror Mirror....!
Mirror Mirror on the wall
Why you show me the face of this girl
Mirror Mirror on the wall
Dont you know that she is no more...!
When I shave there she is
Peeking over my shoulder
Starry eyes open wide
Smiling smiling.... that cheeky smile
Washing my face I can see
Glancing through my fingers
There she is mocking at me
Laughing laughing.... her funny laugh
About to leave combing hair
She is there behind me
Little dainty head of hers
Resting resting.... on my shoulder
Teary eyes about to cry
Half closed into a line
Pleading pleading....pleading with me
Please please please do not go....!
Please please please do not go....!
Mirror Mirror on the wall
Why you show me the face of this girl
Mirror Mirror on the wall
Dont you know that she is no more...!

I Simply Like The Word Roost
and its variations,
refer to the latest poem i wrote on the word
ensconce, it is roost that you use, which signifies
about chickens
but honestly i prefer the pegions
which we had
once in my youth
the boy who chased and hit birds
feeding on our rice
drying under the sun
and i did not know what i did
stoning birds and killing them
not really thinking
that they would be happier
and nicer to see
when they are alive
and flying and feeding
on the pavements where
rice is abundant and
it woudl have been more
memorable if i feed
them myself
with rice on my palms
which i never really did
because in my place
a boy is a boy and he must
hit the birds with stones
from his slingshot
until i have seen real birds
and real people shot
and killed on the fields
like birds but
with real ammunitions
from government armalites
and brothers
killing brothers
which really bothers
me a lot
until now
when finally i get tired of thinking
when i simply write
poems and poems, not judgments
not commands, just feelings
like hot and cold, fever and the coldness
of death

The Dogs Of Drangonchester
The dogs of Dragonchester is a condo that sits by the Sea,
surounded by sand, tropical plants and palm trees.
Happy Dogs live at the Dragonchester for I have seen,
these dogs are special to their owners, they make them happy.
Inside this book is a collection of Dragonchester Dog poems,
you can read them at your leisure at night in your home.
Some poems might make you laugh, some poems might make you cry,
that is the observation of me the poet whose words I do scribe.
These poems you can pass along to your dear friends,
you can frame them if you like so you can read their words again.
Many wishes to the dog owners and a cheer to their pets,
many more stories to make into Dragonchester Dog poems still yet.

Soldier! !
Stand like a soldier
Buried in my shoulder
Lies retraced
Across your palm
Your tears are soft
Like the wind
My shoulder hard
From the strain
I can feel it inside you
As you silently cry
Washing away the pattern on my shirt
Allowing me to relive
Standing like a soldier
Shoulder to shoulder
Your face is clear
And you smile,
- and I thank you with my heart.

I was thinking about your smile(written on july 13 2008)
I was thinking about your smile
Just the other day
Thinking about the way you left
As the tears rolled down my face
I was thinking about your smile
When i was by myself
Just thinking about you
And the day tha you left
I was thinking about your smile b
Before i went to bed
All my memories of you and i
Were rushing through my head
Even when i grow older
Which is gonna take awhile
Ill remember how much i love you
And ill be thinking about your smile

I Wanted My Poem To Be A Real Poem
I WANTED MY POEM TO BE A REAL POEM
I wanted my poem to be a real poem-
I have read and studied and memorized
So many real poems-
I wanted my poem to be one of them
Which others would read and feel and memorize
And make their own –
We want and we want and we want
And who are we with all our wanting?
Who am I with all my wanting?
One more dreamer
One more ambitious person
One more lover of poems
One more writer of poems
One more wanter of real poems
Who writes this poem
For others
who dream like me
of writing real poems.
