On The Brink Of Something...

I've seen a glass
full of
water on an edge of
the table

on the brink of
falling,

i am watching it
and i very well know
how it feels

Falling Off The Edge Of The World

I think about closing the door
And lately I think of it more
Im living well out of my time
I feel like Im losing my mind
I should be at the table round
A servant of the crown
The keeper of the sign
To sparkle and to shine
Never, no never again!
Listen to me and believe what I say if you can
Never, this is the end
You know Ive seen the faces of doom and Im only a man
Help me, tell me Im sane
I feel a change in the earth, in the wind and the rain
Save me, take me away
You know Ive seen some creatures from hell and Ive heard what they say!
Ive got to be strong
Oh, Im falling off the edge of the world
Think youre safe, but youre wrong!
We are falling off the edge of the world!
Look out! theres danger! no where to run!
It seems like desperate measures but sometimes it has to be done
Over, its over at last
Theres a message inside as we build a new life from the past
Were falling off the edge of the world!
Yes, the edge of the world!
Its the end of the world!

On The Edge Of The Edge Of The Edge

ON THE EDGE OF THE EDGE OF THE EDGE

On the edge of the edge of the edge
There is nowhere to go-
Home is lost,
And all the distances have broken down-
One cannot move
One can only fear-

On the edge of the edge of the edge
Falling is fear-
And holding one’s ground
One step at a time
Is a small miracle
One is not sure
One can make alone.

On the edge of the edge of the edge-

A Glass Of Water Please

and so the story wants to end itself with a
glass of water.

those who cry after always need
a glass of water.

those whose hearts are broken
those who sob
those who close the window of the niche
those who have nightmares
those who wake up at 3 o'clock in the morning
those who sit on bed and cannot sleep back
always go to the kitchen
open the refrigerator
get a glass and splash
a cold glass of water

this time, i am asking for a glass of water
for i could be
all of the above or you could be one of those
i have described

but who knows we are not one of those
who knows
we are but just anyone who is normally thirsty
and with nothing to ask
simply ask
for a glass of cold water.

and cheerfully, we do not forget to say
please....

I Ask You

What scene would I want to be enveloped in
more than this one,
an ordinary night at the kitchen table,
floral wallpaper pressing in,
white cabinets full of glass,
the telephone silent,
a pen tilted back in my hand?

It gives me time to think
about all that is going on outside--
leaves gathering in corners,
lichen greening the high grey rocks,
while over the dunes the world sails on,
huge, ocean-going, history bubbling in its wake.

But beyond this table
there is nothing that I need,
not even a job that would allow me to row to work,
or a coffee-colored Aston Martin DB4
with cracked green leather seats.

No, it's all here,
the clear ovals of a glass of water,
a small crate of oranges, a book on Stalin,
not to mention the odd snarling fish
in a frame on the wall,
and the way these three candles--
each a different height--
are singing in perfect harmony.

So forgive me
if I lower my head now and listen
to the short bass candle as he takes a solo
while my heart
thrums under my shirt--
frog at the edge of a pond--
and my thoughts fly off to a province
made of one enormous sky
and about a million empty branches.

Busted glass or a never ending snow

Are love was like busted glass,
We never knew each other,
We never had the chance,
Almost like busted glass,
I dash through the falling snow,
Everytime the wind blows,
I shiver,
It feels like busted glass,
Then i know it was you,
Busted glass,
OR,
A never ending snow,
There is no you,
There is no me,
There is only an us,
An us that could have been,
An us that should have been
Your dead but yet you live,
You live in me,
My grandfather you are me,
You are my soul,
You are my yes and no,
We are more then busted glass,
We are the endless snow,

All About Us

a cup,
a shovel, a therapy,
a string
a lock of hair
air, packets of heaving sighs,
a dirty blanket
an open window,
the sea,
a scribble on yellow paper,
a brink,
of what? an edge of where?
pieces of junk
driftwood, an old river,
the usual fallen leaves,
some puzzles of you
not all of you
but parts, shattered glass,
catching you
holding your hand
and then
releasing your fingers
like drops of
water from my hands,
slipping sands
last breath
wordlessly

Over The Edge

She wants to know where I've been
She's got the gloves on again
She thinks she's smooth now I'm saying
I'm not going down (I'm not going down)
You say this ain't the end to me
Fall down, pull the rug under me
Feels like I'm falling but I tell you
I'm not going down
One day, you'll be the end of me
Go blind, pull the wool over me
Feels like I'm falling but I tell you
I'm not going down
Because you push me over the edge
Tired of wasting my time, tired of wasting my breath
Because you push me over the edge
Tired of wasting my time
And you're putting me through this again (through this again)
She wants to fight and I've been drinking
We put the walls up again
I know she's right that I'm tripping
But I'm not going down
Repeat Chorus
Because you
Never did try
Never did look to see that I'm alright (whoaaaaaa)
Because you're
Always right
Gotta fight
Always wanna know (whoaaaaaa)
Because you.....
(x2)
Repeat Chorus

Dance at the Water's Edge

Dance at the Water's edge,
Ev'ry day and ev'ry hour,
Even when the Sun is high
You bring an angry show'r.

Dance at the Water's edge,
While the Children laugh and play,
Laughing as their kites go high,
But nothing will You say.

Dance at the Water's edge
Now and evermore,
You are here and ev'rywhere,
Dancing at the Shore.

Dance at the Water's edge,
As happy as can be;
When I dance into Your arms,
Dear Wind, remember me.

Spinning His Wheels

(olivia newton-john /gary burr)
He didnt get home until ten
He was still hard at work even then
He didnt notice the change in her hair
Or the candles that burned everywhere
She went off to bed all alone
He didnt notice shed gone
And it takes all her strength to hang on
Shes on the edge of the circle watching him spin around
They cant reach each other until he slows down
They cant find the center, how lonely that feels
Shes stuck in a heartache, hes spinning his wheels
He crawls into bed after two
With a head full of things he should do
And he makes it quite clear with his kiss
Shes no longer on top of his list
There are times when she cant feel his love
So she remembers the way that it was
And shell hold on tight till he does
Shes on the edge of the circle watching him spin around
They cant reach each other until he slows down
They cant find the center, how lonely that feels
Shes stuck in a heartache, hes spinning his wheels
Oh, hes on the rise to the top
She wont ask him to stop
Just please dont forget her
Oh, hes so blinded by pride
Shed be right by his side
If he would just let her
They cant find the center, how lonely that feels
Shes stuck in a heartache, hes spinning his wheels
Shes stuck in a heartache, hes spinning his wheels

Sinking..

Down in the water
By the edge of the river
where I ponder my life
just how did I get to this

Down in the water
By the edge of the river
where the waterfall of dreams
sweeps away what’s left to the abyss

Down in the water
by the edge of the river
where time stands still
Just only forever.

Down in the water
by the edge of the river
where I buried all
that was ever childhood

Where I let it go,
where it bends and meanders,
twisting along as the years went past.
Seemingly calm, but screaming beneath the surface
were its hidden whirlpools, a sweeping current

Down in the water,
I left the edge of the river,
as I looked down
for my soul at the bottom.

Deep in the water
Swept away by the river

I drowned in life,

......sinking forever.

Kariba Lake

Really happy, at the brink
of the big Kariba lake
like the great Livingstone,
we were pioneers
viewing that stretch of water
swallowing the river.

Growing up on farmsteads
we hand never seen
fresh water meeting the horizon
and falling into depths
like at the edge of the houseboat.

Your blonde hair falling in waves
catching the sun in its sparkle,
blue eyes clearer that the deep blue sky,
face glowing with anticipation,
body tanned to mahogany brown,
firm breasts swelling
with every breath you took,
you looked like a goddess
at the face of creation.

Every pace measured to perfection
in movement still the gymnast
you danced on that deck
free in the fresh breeze
enjoying the sky,
the cool water
that made your nipples
hard and showing through
the white bikini top,
but on that deck
were only you and I
and we loved each other
as if there was going
to be no tomorrow.

Fishing rods with reels,
Hooks, lines and sinkers
found their way into the water
baited with earthworms, maize
and the cook’s secret dough
and we caught buckets full
of the biggest carp
that I have ever seen,
and you were in your element
and we were really alive
and that holiday
felt like being in paradise.

Maybe the gods
were not happy with our offers,
or those lazy days
that at the time
seemed almost endless,
was given as a last goodbye.

We were hardly back
still on a high
of being really happy,
when your life was taken
snapped out in a split second
and the reality
of being human
pierced me.

At The Edge Of The Edge Of The Edge

AT THE EDGE OF THE EDGE OF THE EDGE

At the edge of the edge of the edge
There is another invisible edge
And this too has an edge and another edge
Edges unending
Beyond our comprehension
Waiting for us to fall down and down-

On the edge of the edge of the edge
I write on
Has the great descent already begun
And am I in the midst of it
As I pretend to go on?

A Troubling Moment

It was all very troubling:
after seven years of marriage to her whiny husband
with whom he exchanged a functional loathing
when their virtual twin-ship must needs be admitted
in spite of biological differences, by all involved,
when Fortune seemed to shine again,
his sister began to show; smiled mysteriously
informing the table at dinner one night, 'Yes, it was true'
confirming her first pregnancy at thirty-three.

He contributed to the round of clapping
the oohs and ahs of genuine delight;
too, tinked his water glass with a nearby fork,
the tedious wedding enacted again
in a smaller, more intimate version,
but it made him uneasy.
It was the usual thing: love-neutralized venom-
he didn't like it-it gave him indigestion,
the now-endless prospect of blame.

And then she raised her glass
and took a sober little sip of water
having given up table wine a month before
and looking sideways at her father swallowed
her eyes full of love and shared, secret triumph
in acknowledgement of their unassailable,
their special bond. She had done what she could:
the future was up to itself.

Edge Of Reality

(words & music by giant - baum - kaye)
I walk along a thin line darling
Dark shadows follow me
Heres where lifes dream lies disillusioned
The edge of reality
Oh I can hear strange voices echo
Laughing with mockery
The border line of doom Im facing
The edge of reality
On the edge of reality she sits there tormenting me
The girl with the nameless face
On the edge of reality where she overpowers me
With fears that I cant explain
She drove me to the point of madness
The brink of misery
If shes not real then Im condemned to
The edge of reality
On the edge of reality she sits there tormenting me
The girl with the nameless face
On the edge of reality where she overpowers me
With fears that I cant explain
She drove me to the point of madness
The brink of misery
If shes not real then Im condemned to
The edge of reality

Reality, reality, reality, reality

The Decision To Be Happy

I am watching water
dripping from the gutter

the rain has just stopped
falling

the sun begins its part
spreading soft light on the window panes

my wife has finished taking her bath
and kisses me on my cheeks

breakfast is ready on the table
and the smell of rice and pork grill spreads in the house

the water that drips from the gutter
to the leaves of the fortune plant appears

like diamonds bringing all that gladness
to the younger hours of the day

well, ask me what is this all about
oh yeah, this is all about this decision to be just

simply happy.

Pushed It Over The End

Good lookin millys got a gun in her hand
But she dont know how to use it.
Sooner or later shell have to take a stand
And she aint about to lose it.
All the towns people gather around
Theyve come to see whats going down
Although no one hears a sound
Theres another poor man falling down.
Falling down, falling down.
Falling down, falling down.
On this lazy shore
Standing at the edge of you.
Could those dreams of yours be true
Or did you, did you, did you
Pushed it over the end?
How much time did you spend?
Pushed it over the end.
Good lookin millys into politics now
And things are looking much better
She keeps ten men in her garage
Knitting her fine sweaters.
At the end of a weary day
She feels hard and she looks hard.
Although no one hears a sound
Theres another poor man falling down.
Falling down, falling down.
Falling down, falling down.
I came back for more
And found you waiting at the door
And far inside your walls I called
Did you, did you, did you
Pushed it over the end?
How much time did you spend?
Pushed it over the end.
How much love did you spend?
Pushed it over the end.

Water On Glass

Written by ricky & marty wilde
Cascading down
Theres a sound vaporising into vision
Its a sound in my head
That I feel and it shuts me in a prison
Say it wont last
Say it will pass
Always the sound in my brain
Can you hear it
Water on glass running down again
Water on glass that sound
Water on glass running round again
Help me, the sound of running waters
Coming down
Dancing away
Like the lights on a moving coloured river
Sounds in my head seem to run
And again I feel a shiver
Say it wont last
Pray it will pass
Always that sound in my brain
Can you hear it (can you hear it)
Water on glass running down again
Water on glass that sound
Water on glass running round again
Help me, the sound of running waters
Coming down
Water on glass running down again
Water on glass that sound
Water on glass running round again
Help me, the sound of running waters
Coming down

Far Far Away

She only knows that she does not know.
Tears in her eyes blur the real and unreal.
Her world falling apart in the falling snow.

She can only feel that she can not feel
(The bitter cold invades her soul) .
She only knows that she does not know.

She feels so...stupid...she feels such...a fool.
Church bells shatter the silence peal after peal
her world falling apart in the falling snow.

Voices in her head she can’t control
memories that only pain can reveal
her world falling apart in the falling snow.

Ice steals across the pool.

Only the snow knows what it attempts to conceal.

She only knows that she does not know...

...her world falling apart in the falling snow.

Nothing Will Be As Wonderful

Nothing will be as wonderful, as that spring had been
the trees were full of flowers row upon row
the water in the channels reflected bright like glass

in the distance seagulls turned around a ship’s mast
flew away in lines above us.
Nothing will be as wonderful, as that spring had been

where your hand had fitted fine and precisely into mine
where I fell more intimately in love with you
the water in the channels reflected bright like glass

we had seen an otter splashing at rocks in the sea
while the boat floated recoiling over the sea.
Nothing will be as wonderful, as that spring had been

where now I reach in vain for you
and forever you are separated from me,
the water in the channels reflects bright like glass

while the hot spring rain, wash away my tears
with dire pain cutting through me;
nothing will be as wonderful, as that spring had been
the water in the channels reflects bright like glass.
