On A Storny Day While You Are Driving Alone

you drive towards home
alone
under a strong rain
and wind
the storm has come again
inside the car
you hear nothing
you only see
the mess outside
you

you do not turn on
the radio
there is nothing there
only the buzzing
the FM stations lost
in the midst of this
chaos
you hear the silence inside you
talking
it is tired of the day's
heavy workload

you hear the sound
of the windswiper
you see the water
ahead of you along the
way
as the car cleans itself
so you may see the road
ahead
meeting you
the white bridge,
the thick lines of rain
like walls

like some liquid ropes
bursting on the glass
there are no cars
meeting you
no lights
except the darkness
and
the leaves blown away
from you
you think and you know the
difference:
you are losing your sense
of home

the sense of direction
insists
still towards this road
you do not like it
anymore,
you still think in the middle
of this storn
you want to stop and
watch the river
overflow
you wish the bridge is broken
you want it taken away
dismantled
you imagine there is
no more connection
whatever

you see nothing at the end,
what you see is simply
the storm
you stop again on the side of the road
where the tree shall fall and
you are under it,
you do not think of the car,
or of yourself anymore
what is there anyway?
there is no one waiting,
there is nothing worth meeting
and surely
life is not worth living

Giving You The Scenario

i am the culprit who gives you the scenario of his
driving alone on one stormy night
the white bridge taken away by the strong river
where there is no more connection, and you write me hoping that this
cannot be true, because you always believe what i write and because i always
assure you that everything is true, oh my, oh my,

the storm is true, and the river and the bridge too, and its color and its rage
but oh my, oh my,
the one who is driving
the one who was lost and stopped by the side of the road and wished
that the tree above him may fall on his car and damage it and even
kill him inside the confines of his anxieties
need not be me,
he could be someone else, a neigbor, a friend, an acquaintance of the mind, a character of his short story,
or the mad man in his poem
or it could even be you
in some figures of speech
yes, everything are possibilities,
and oh my, oh my,
yes, i finally agree,
on that stormy night with all the details in tact
trees bending, leaves blown away, rain as thick as walls,
rivers raging like a revolution
darkness as black as ink
howling sounds like dogs seeing the bad spirits
oh my, oh my with all the stark detail they are so real
so real that i know how it feels like i am touching the flame itself
from the dirty kitchen,

well, you are right
he could be me, how can i now disown who i am and what i have seen?

You Sit On The Car And Call Yourself, Stupid

you sit inside the car
as i drive on this busy road
in the city, on some dangerous
intersections, and you hold your hair
with your left hand
leaning on the mirror
seeing the flow of people
on the pedestrian lane
and you quip,

why do you love a stupid
woman like me?

i focus myself on the road
and it begins to rain
and people are running
everywhere seeking
for shelter

you ask,
do you really love me?
i am sorry
putting you on this mess.
i am really sorry,

tears begin to roll
from your eyes

the rain goes heavily on
the glass and i cannot clearly
see the road

it is dark and i turn on the
front lights and drive
the car slowly on the side
of the road. I stop
for a while,

it is hazy, i said.

and i just love to kiss you.

There Are Walls Between Us

brother, there are walls between us
needles of rain between our faces
when i touch your hand
you seem so far away
like an island to another island
without a boat
just a telescope.

you expect too much, like the way you want me
to devote all the attention you need:
every need,
every discomfort,
every uneasiness,

every asking ungiven seems to be unforgiven
i resign.
i stop
from this unfair brotherhood
that you
impose upon me

there are walls and walls that you are building now
and i cannot see and hear you anymore
you built them
i won't destroy them and i will not ask the reasons why

we deserve a distance, a far away distance, perhaps
for us to rethink
what brotherhood is all about

it is not a one-way traffic i suppose so
you must understand it as i do

i am going inside this road with my own car
you take yours and we meet halfway

keep those walls, they are yours
i keep this road, this bridge, this open space

Everybody's Waiting

Through the wind and the rain
I hear my mother's cry
She says "i know my baby's out there"
Just couldn't bear to ask her why
From my womb into the world
Lord i wish the child would call
You know i'm needing some company
She makes my life so full"
Take my advice
Go ahead and live your own life
But everybody's waiting
For someone to come home
Like the fire waits for the sand
This world is burning
With the tension of human hands
Waiting to be cleansed
Waiting for their ace of spades
They say "i sure hope he's coming
'cause i feel like i've just been saved"
Take my advice
Go ahead and live while you're alive
Everybody's waiting
For someone to come home
"come to me and cleanse my soul"
I'm free, i'm free
"only with you am i whole"
Can't you see that i am me
"i'll be waiting by the window"
I'll be heading for the door
I was driving down highway 85 yeah
Had to pull off the road
Just to hear my radio coming in clearer
Lord this life's so full i said
Why do we ask for more
While we're waiting for the man to come
We forgot what he's coming for
Won't take my advice
Go ahead and live while you're alive
Everybody's waiting
For someone to come home
"i'll be waiting by the window"
Everybody's waiting
For someone to come home
"i'll be waiting by the window"
Everybody's waiting
For someone to come home
Come home

Bumpy Road

A bumpy road lies ahead,
Feeling cool, ever so cool ahead.
Let chilly times be gone,
A broken path is afoot.

For the vehicle shall be strong,
And the freezing is damaging,
In a dirty road or river,
In the prickly rain of nutrition.

I see this road as a fluffy bridge,
To find the damp undergrowth
Where I see a sweet little dirt,
Where I recline for all day to come.

The vacation is sticky weather,
Short but modern, in a rapid way;
Melted ice sees us trapped,
And we are slow on this bumpy road.

One Jump Ahead Of The Storm

Lightnings flashing all around me,
Thunders rolling up behind.
Big blue clouds are going to roll in
Full of tears and make me blind.
I cant let her man recatch me.
I cant stop to cry no more.
Im just running down the highway,
One jump ahead of the storm.
One jump ahead of her crying,
One jump ahead of her cold cheating arm.
One jump ahead of her lying,
One jump ahead of the storm.
One day I looked on the horizon,
Saw her love just couldnt last.
Oh, my mind was torn to pieces.
I had to leave and get out fast.
And so I slipped out of her power.
I saw my chance and I was gone
Before the rain could start to falling.
One jump ahead of the storm.
Chorus
I was one jump ahead of the storm.
Just one jump ahead of the storm.
I was one jump ahead of the storm.
Just one jump ahead of the storm.
I was one jump ahead of the storm.
Just one jump ahead of the storm.
I was one jump ahead of the storm.
Just one jump ahead of the storm.

The Radio

There's a long white line stretching out on the road ahead
And there ain't one magazine that I ain't read
I haven't seen you in weeks but I hear you on the radio
Singing soft and low
Chorus:
We're so far apart
This old highway ain't home
When the heartache starts
I just turn the radio on
There never seems to be time for me and you
That's a price you pay for the life you choose
Tonight's the loneliest night I've ever known
It just goes on and on
Repeat Chorus
It does my heart good to see you shine
So I'll just keep on counting these white lines
I haven't seen you in weeks but I hear you on the radio
Calling me back home
Repeat Chorus to Fade

Road to Damascus

You were once a meeting place
of human goodness -
of the Good Samaritan, saving
the fallen victim of the hiding thieves,
a road to friendship
against the bridge of enemies,
the road to humility
with the ability to forgive.

You were once a meeting point
of human newness -
of Saul, the intolerant,
persecutor of Christians,
blinded by light,
and yet rode back to this road
as Paul with renewed eyesight.

Damascus, a meeting road
of human goodness and newness
met by the Lord of Light,
and yet today has turned
to be an open graveyard
guarded by violence and blood.

When The Rain Stopped Falling

there is this heavy rain
falling on top of your roof and it is so disturbing
that you wake up
and lock your windows
to shut yourself away from the sounds
of falling

but you cannot help worrying even when you cannot
literally hear the sound of the falling rain

you still imagine how they fall inside your mind
as though you can hear every syllable that every neddle of rain
is pricking in your brain
your ears
and your eyes still have the image of these
series of fallings

that even if the rain finally stopped
and you open your window to check
in the middle of this time
when morning cracks fromt the shutters of your windows

you still think like crazy
you hear the sound of the wind and it is like the sound of the falling
rain
and even if the wind has left like a leaf flown to the eastern side
of your house
even if there is no shadow of the leaf anymore
you hear your heart falling from your chest

now you must accept
leaving.
now you must accept the pain.
do not deny it.

it is you that is falling out
from the grace of her love.
it is you.

cry it out!
shout it!
it is you.!
it is you!
it is not the rain, it is not the wind, it is not the leaf that was blown away
towards the eastern part of the house.it is not the design of the house.
it is not the purple curtains. it is not the lonely courtyard
it is not the red bowl. it is not the tower.
it is not the blank sheets of paper.
it is not the bell.
it is not the winding stairs.
it is not the dirty garage.
it is not the scaffold.
it is not the white paint.
it is not the doorbell.
it is not the turbulence of the plane.
it is not the slap of the hand.
it is not the blue fan.
it is not the cellophance floating in the air and whirling in that corner
a dead-end.

it is you! and that is the truth!
be calm now. wipe the tears.
try sleep and dream.

This Poem This Afternoon

this poem
has nothing much to give you

some words
discarded that i
keep again
on this monitor

perhaps garbage
or dust or pieces of
scratch papers,

but somehow
i go on writing,
without any purpose
at all

in mind, just
to let the hours pass
by
the minutes wasted
for having to wait
on something else,
the next scene
another event
of my life
a meeting in
another room
a riding of
a vehicle to the city
and then
wait again for the
students in the
university

i talk much
and write too
little

for hours and hours
until it gets so dark
at the late hour
of the night

and then i go home
drive my car
no talking now
just paying attention
to the road
meeting my face

and the faint sound
of the aircon
of the car until i
arrive on the side
of the house

the gate opens
i turn on the light
and go inside the room
to sleep
on this chilly evening.

The Road We're On

'It's all a road we build'
he said
'you lay down the concrete
or tar for the asphalt;

you heat it
and take it through all the stages
with yellow lines
white lines-
a road has to have
boundaries and destinations.

There are the road signs:
'caution'
'soft shoulder'
'curves ahead'
'pedestrians'
'stop ahead'
'divided highway.'
'no u-turns.'
'highway patrol station

The thought
is whether the road we build
is our own
and whether it leads where we
want to go
and who on the road
we're traveling with.

Just like life.
Up and down hills;
speed bumps
parking lots
long rides

The trick is not to be
a highway statistic
didn't see the stop sign
ran over too many pedestrians.
or a high speed causality
best to hope for soft shoulders
and broad lanes
and the laughter of friends
as the sun shines overhead
taking us
home.

Cartwheels

Oh mama wed sail away
Doing cartwheels on the front lawn everyday
And youd sing here comes the sun
Then wed dance together
I thought it would last forever
I see my life fly on by
Like a soldier in the rain
With a shining road ahead of me
For once in my life I wanna be happy
Stop running from my memories
Being on the road sets me free but sometimes
I want to come back home
I want to hear your voice say to me
Be yourself cause thats all that matters baby
Oh mama youd carry me away
On the rooftops and in the high trees
Thats where I used to dream
Id close my eyes and hear you sing
blackbird in the dead of night
I see your life fly on by
Mama dont you be afraid
Look at all the love that you have made
Oh mama you want us to forgive you
But you did nothing wrong
You followed your road for so long that sometimes
You want to come back home
You want it all to be the way it was
Shaynamaidala doing cartwheels on the lawn
All the planes are out tonight
I see them flying lighting up the sky

Deep Breaths

I can't see
Running through the trees
At night
Running so fast
Must run faster
Go to the left
Go to the right
Watch out for that tree ahead
Breathing so hard
Deep breaths
Must relax muscles
I stop to catch my breath
I dont know how far I got
Away from you
You yell my name
It sounds like a whisper
I know you must be getting closer
But Im so tired
I have to go on
I force myself to go on
Go now
I start to walk
I hear things around me
I start to jog
There are footsteps behind me
I start to run
Faster Faster Faster
Im going so fast
I dont know whats ahead
I jump off a cliff
And fall
I dont know how long
Ive been falling
But I hit water
I cant breathe
Im about to drown
I reach the surface
Deep breath
I swim
To the next shore
I get up
And start to run
I find the road
Waiting for a car
I see headlights up ahead
The car keeps coming
And doesnt slow down
I get out of the way
And look to where the car was heading
I notice that its stopped
I walk to the car
And look inside
Its you
And you have a gun
You raise it at me
Deep breath
Which will be my last
And then all I see
Is white gun blasts

Teething Thoughs....

the white pigeons
find their home inside

the ceiling of this
house

every night i hear their
moaning sounds

they're like the weeping willows
meeting the winds from the far away mountains

there is a packet of winds
trapped in this room

forming a whirl
soon the walls shall tremble

something must give way
to a storm

lest these windows break
frames dismantled

to give birth to a pair of eyes
that will not flicker when it starts

to stare to the sun
or waver to the salt of the earth

these tongues of the twines
these teething thoughts

The trip back

The sky is grey
with ominous clouds
that whirls and churns
and there’s thick fog
hanging like a cloak
low over the earth.

The visor of my helmet
is immediately covered
by the impact
of fine drops of rain
and I open it
to be able to see
where I am travelling.

At places I have to leave the road
to clean the lenses
of my glasses
and then the motorbike
again roars with power under me,

but I have only gone a small distance
when the cars come to a halt
and I have to twist through them.

Twenty kilometres further
I come upon the accident
that is blocking the freeway
just where I have to turn off
to Benoni
and blue and red lights
flash through
the fumes of mist.

I turn the throttle open
but at places
the fog banks still hangs low
and mini buss taxis, busses and cars
appear like ghosts in front of me.

At a place a stream flows
strong like a river over the road
and although I lift my feet
and open the throttle more
to give power to the motorbike

a four by four
passes over the middle line
and throws a wall of water
right over me
and if I can get hold of that lunatic
he will surely know it.

The helmet, black leather jacket
and backpack
stops the water,
but my jean
and shoes are soaking wet
and the motorbike eats the road
and somewhat frozen
I drive to get to home,
as if Springs
is just behind the next hillock

Drive A Crooked Road

Cruisin down the street
Got the glaze in my eyes
Lookin for a thousand reasons why
I dont want to be here
I dont want to die
What was I thinking we should have known
All the lights are one
But theres nobody home
Drive a crooked road
Stop inside a liquor store
Just to grab a taste
Man behind the counter
Dont recognize my face
Give me all your money
Got not time to waste
What was I thinking
We should have known
All the lights are one
But theres nobody home
Chorus:
Drive a crooked road
Drive a crooked road
Satisfy your soul
Drive a crooked road
I just ran out of time
I just ran out of luck
Ive never been busted
And this aint even my truck
Everybodys laughin
Nobody cares
It seems like theres red
Flashin lights everywhere
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Sittin in the darkness
Im staring at the bars
Couldnt drive too fast
I couldnt drive too far
I could have been somebody
I could have been a star
Should have stayed at home
Should have stayed in bed
Thought I heard this crazy
Screaming, screaming in my head, said
(chorus)
What was I thinking
We should have known
All the lights are one
But theres nobody home
(chorus)

At south india
On the road
Rain was on the way
Town buses
Go slow too slow

A road poblem
In side the bus
Rain rain drops rain
Come again
Travalling people...
Simply taken
The umberlaw
At inside the bus
With a rain!
How is the rain show?

Laugh song

(it's just a silly song, please sing with your own melody)

Drunken man: The bottle is empty
I’m still thirsty
What can we do right now?
Crowd: Let’s steal some wine!

Bar owner: It’s the time up now!
You must pay and go
Crowd: Why is she so cruel?
We’re just having fun

Bar owner: The wind goes strong
I’m afraid storm comes
What can I do old man
With drunken men and fool?

Crowd: Our friends with us
You are warm and nice
Bar owner: No more drink tonight
Go home, goodnight!

Servant boy: The rain goes heavy
The bridge is down!
Crowd: Lord has mercy
We can’t go right now!

Crowd: The road is dark
Hard storm around
What can we do right now?
Bar owner: Sit and wait sad clown!

Man: Thunder sparks wild
Do we have some bone?
The dog still barks
Crowd: Bark, bark, bark, bark, bark

Drunken man: The bone is gone
Tomorrow we’ll mourn
What can we do right now?
Crowd: What can we do right now?

Man: No feet dance here
No music I hear
Crowd: Let’s ask our dear!
She can cheer we here

Man: The fiddle’s asleep
Her cords are curling
Crowd: Let’s just sing a song!
La, la, la, la, la

Drunken man: Your song is bad
My ears are ache
Crowd: It’s the wine not song
Your sense goes wrong

Servant boy: The rain still falls
It’s not safe to home
Crowd: We own our fall
It’s not safe from fight

Drunken man: The bottles mad and fly
Too pity they’re empty
Bar owner: Play set in my rest
You’ll be kicked and wet!

Man: Let’s close to the fire
Till words are over
Crowd: Tell tales and stories
Till the world’s over

Crowd: Only wise can say
We crazy laugh and cry
In the middle of flood
The last laugh will shout!

The best laid plans.

No moon tonight that we can see.
The dark storm clouds are gathering
The thunder grumbles distantly.
Ominous and threatening.

I’m far from home no shelter near
When suddenly the sky turns bright
As blue white streaks of lightning sear
Across the darkness of the night.

The lightning tears the clouds apart.
Swiftly and efficiently
And this allows the rain to start.
Pouring down torrentially.

My windscreen wipers cannot cope.
I cannot see the road ahead.
my journeys end a forlorn hope.
Tonight I shall not see my bed.

The storm still rages to and fro.
I have no choice but wait it out.
When it blows over I shall go
As it must I do not doubt.

I watch and wait impatiently.
Just static on the radio.
Caused by the lightning probably.
I shall be glad when I can go.

At last the sky begins to clear.
It seems the storm has run its course
The clouds pass on and stars appear.
I bowed to its superior force.

I can continue on my way
But still I must drive carefully.
As others pass in clouds of spray
Too fast and driving thoughtlessly.

Quite soon I shall be home in bed
Catching up on beauty sleep.
Another journey lies ahead
I have appointments I must keep...

May be the weather will be kind.
Although the forecasts none too bright.
I can’t afford to fall behind.
My deadline will run out tonight.
