Of Walls And Fences....

now marlon
you are a man and father
though the
child is not yours but as you take it
inside your arms
you finally have a world of your own
away from us
as you build now your walls
and fences
as you exclude those that
care for you
it is the distance that watches you
now
it is the fullness
that you take proud
the tower on top of the
cliff
leaning upon a
white cotton
cloud

what lovely fig tree are you
no one uproots you now
no one

javi cries
and you shut us away
at least
for the moment
and you call it
glorious, joyful
we wait.

Seeking Refuge

'And the end of all our exploring
Will be to arrive where we started
And know the place for the first time.'
- T.S. Eliot

you have gone that far to the edge of that cliff
where you now stand
to explore all the possibilities of touching a cloud
and now that you are touching
this cotton dream
you are feeling nothing at all
you look down
below your feet to that village near the equator
that you left years ago
and you think finally that everything amounts to nothing
except that pink cotton candy
that you once tasted
as the best metaphor
for your dream-cloud
your cotton dream
so sweet to your teeth

come to think of it
it is never too late to build this bridge
rather than jump
and die in that muddy river
just below the cliff
where you are now
still standing

A father, A child. The meaningful bond

A father, A child. The meaningful bond

A father whispers to the child
As the child continues to ignore his spoken words
As if his owner was almost invisible from the corner of his eye
The child shouts – silence” the father then trembles disfigured to heart
He stands crying tears of fury with the spark of love of his child’s naivety.
The child carries on his missions, his father watches him do his thing”
When finally one day the child realizes his insane character, the father then
Ignores his presence..

Appreciate what you have here, now, but not always.
because 'you never know'.

Have You Experienced Inside A Wall Within A Wall Within A Wall?

i laugh since i broke a wall and i smile because finally i am free
and yet when i try to smile anew i find myself inside another wall again.

i break another wall again and again and again
but the walls keep walling me like i am its lover.

and finally i give up, i feel the walls too loving and caring for me.
and then i care for the walls and learn to love each corner
its thickness its soundless world

and then i tell the house where the walls are growing healthy,
i am glad about walls. They keep me secure. And then finally i said it for once.

the walls love me. and i love the walls since then.

The Monotony Of A Vicious Circle

when you run in a circle
you arrive at nowhere
you pass by the same
lane over and over again

so to kill this monotony
you build your own set of
fences and walls with the
end that even if you pass
on the same lane over and
over again somehow the
walls may create the
illusion of a border the fence
an illusion of height so
that you may then claim
that you have hurdled an
obstruction passed a
hard test survived a
certain difficult trial
which you have
freely created yourself

you think you can
deceive the circle?
sorry but
this circle will always
remain as a circle even
if the walls reach the heavens
even if the fences shut you
away from the neighbors

who live on the same
lane with you.

Father Of Night

Father of night, father of day,
Father, who taketh the darkness away,
Father, who teacheth the bird to fly,
Builder of rainbows up in the sky,
Father of loneliness and pain,
Father of love and father of rain.
Father of day, father of night,
Father of black, father of white,
Father, who build the mountain so high,
Who shapeth the cloud up in the sky,
Father of time, father of dreams,
Father, who turneth the rivers and streams.
Father of grain, father of wheat,
Father of cold and father of heat,
Father of air and father of trees,
Who dwells in our hearts and our memories,
Father of minutes, father of days,
Father of whom we most solemnly praise.

If You Only Knew

Far from me and like the stars, the sea and all the trappings of poetic myth,
Far from me but here all the same without your knowing,
Far from me and even more silent because I imagine you endlessly.
Far from me, my lovely mirage and eternal dream, you cannot know.
If you only knew.
Far from me and even farther yet from being unaware of me and still unaware.
Far from me because you undoubtedly do not love me or, what amounts to the
same thing, that I doubt you do.
Far from me because you consciously ignore my passionate desires.
Far from me because you are cruel.
If you only knew.
Far from me, joyful as a flower dancing in the river at the tip of its aquatic stem,
sad as seven p.m. in a mushroom bed.
Far from me yet silent in my presence and still joyful like a stork-shaped hour
falling from on high.
Far from me at the moment when the stills are singing, at the moment when the
silent and loud sea curls up on its white pillows.
If you only knew.
Far from me, o my ever-present torment, far from me in the magnificent noise of
oyster shells crushed by a night owl passing a restaurant at first light.
If you only knew.
Far from me, willed, physical mirage.
Far from me there's an island that turns aside when ships pass.
Far from me a calm herd of cattle takes the wrong path, pulls up stubbornly at the
edge of a steep cliff, far from me, cruel woman.
Far from me, a shooting star falls into the poet's nightly bottle.
He corks it right away and from then on watches the star enclosed in the glass, the
constellations born on its walls, far from me, you are so far from me.
If you only knew.
Far from me a house has just been built.
A bricklayer in white coveralls at the top of the scaffolding sings a very sad little
song and, suddenly, in the tray full of mortar, the future of the house appears:
lovers' kisses and double suicides nakedness in the bedrooms strange beautiful
women
and their midnight dreams, voluptuous secrets caught in the act by the parquet
floors.
Far from me, If you only knew.
If you only knew how I love you and, though you do not love me, how happy I
am, how strong and proud I am, with your image in my mind,
to leave the universe.
How happy I am to die for it.
If you only knew how the world has yielded to me.
And you, beautiful unyielding woman, how you too are my prisoner.
O you, far-from-me, who I yield to.
If you only knew.

Where's Daddy?

A small child cries out in the night,
As she longs for a Father who can not be there;
If she wishes long and hard enough, he might
Just show up one day, so that they may share
In one another's lives once again-
Allowing time's healing to finally begin!

'Where's Daddy? ' she asks, seemingly out of nowhere;
Her Mother cannot provide a proper answer-
She pretends all the while that she really does care,
Yet, her self-contempt has already spread, like a cancer!

The child has finally started to realize
That 'Mommy' is precisely what she was taught to despise:
She wears a mask, hiding her vicious lies;
The child ios left heart-broken-in a world of 'whys? '!

There's a child inside
A man inside
A woman inside
A sage inside
A mother inside with breasts of love
A father inside with hands of care
A child inside beautifully caressed
A mother inside with the wing of dove
A father inside the flight to share
A child inside with parents blessed
A sage inside with a peaceful face
The peace to bestow in all its grace

What's Your Name?

while walking...
i stopped beneath a tree,
and spoke to a leaf:
'what's your name? '

the leaf paused for a moment,
and spoke,
'you can call me child of the limb,
or child of the tree,
or child of the earth,
or child of the sun and rain...

or you can just call me, Bob!
what's your name? '

i thought for a moment,
and smiled:
'you can just call me...

Leaning On The Wall

you see me leaning
on the wall
you think that i am
about to faint
and you signal
if you can help
but i am quick
with my hand
waiving

no i am alright
i am feeling the wall
i am listening
to its ears

there is this
hardness on walls
that i like to know
there is this
silence of the walls
that i like to hear
from its very ears

you think i am
weak and sick
you think i am
the one that
darwin says
may be
exterminated

come to think of it
these walls
are the walls
built by my father
and his father's father

they feel my body
and they say
i am doing well

Cotton Jenny

Theres a house on a hill
By a worn down weathered old mill
In the valley below where the river winds
Theres no such thing as bad times
And a soft southern flame
Oh cotton jennys her name
She wakes me up when the sun goes down
And the wheels of love go round
Wheels of love go round
Love go round, love go round
A joyful sound
I aint got a penny for cotton jenny to spend
But then the wheels go round
When the new day begins
I go down to the cotton gin
And I make my time worth while to them
Then I climb back up again
And she waits by the door
Oh cotton jenny Im sore
And she rubs my feet while the sun goes down
And the wheels of love go round
Wheels of love go round
Love go round, love go round
A joyful sound
I aint got a penny for cotton jenny to spend
But then the wheels go round
In the hot, sickly south
When they say well shut my mouth
I can never be free from the cotton grind
But I know I got whats mine
Shes a soft southern flame
Oh cotton jennys her name
She wakes me up when the sun goes down
And the wheels of love go round
Wheels of love go round
Love go round, love go round
A joyful sound
I aint got a penny for cotton jenny to spend
But then the wheels go round

Keeping My Distance

(jimmy davis/tommy burroughs/don smith)
Im keeping my calandar open
Even if it takes me years
til you figure out what your plan is
You figure out all of your fears
I dont wanna know anything about her
Or what you feel like you have to defend
But Ive seen your situation
And the world she keeps you in
Im keeping my distance
Im keeping my distance
And Ill wait until my time is here
Im keeping my distance
Im keeping my distance
And Ill wait until you make it clear
If you dont want to rush it baby
Well then by all means dont
But Im gonna wait for the day when
When you see that its me you want
I can see, I can tell that you need me
You know that I need you too
So why on earth cant you ever let her go
Will you ever try anything new
Im keeping my distance
Im keeping my distance
And Ill wait until my time is here
Im keeping my distance
Im keeping my distance
And Ill wait until you make it clear
Where will you find the strength
I cant hold you against your will
You keep me at arms length
Im reaching out to hold you still, yeah, yeah, yeah
I can see that you need me
You know that I need you too
So why on earth cant you ever let her go
Will you ever try anything new
Im keeping my distance
Im keeping my distance
And Ill wait until my time is here
Im keeping my distance
Im keeping my distance

God the Father

God the Father
By: Adam M. Snow

To be at the sight of all beauty and grace,
and seek guidance in your glorious place.
To be still and in awe of you,
and to know you made me new.
To be welcome in your open arms,
and see all around the Heavenly charms.

To you God the Father, who art in Heaven,
let your will be done, let this place be haven.
To you my Father, the one who's beguiled,
who wants me to run to him, your once lost child.
To you my Redeemer and Strong Tower,
whose with me each beloved hour.

May I say unto you,
for I know it's true,
for all the love you've poured,
thank you O Lord.
You forgave my each and every sin,
and I end this prayer O Lord Amen.

A Child In God's Grace

Have you ever
Had a moment
Were you are
Lying in a field

The sun shines
Upon your face
As you bury
Yourself in a sea
Of tall green grass

Then as you gaze
Up into the sky
At the white fluffy clouds
That passes on by
Your imagination flares
In a creative style

Fairytale Characters
Magical beings
Cloud your imagination
In a child's world of dreams

Then stretching
Out your arms
To pillow your
Sleepy head
You gaze up in wonder
In a child like bliss

The laughter of friends
Playing in the sun
Make you smile
In a dream like state

And in that
One singular moment
That one blissful state
You are who you are
A child in God's grace

Birds Of St. Marks

(from the jackson browne: going home video)
Oh how sadly sound the songs the queen must sing of dying
A prisoner upon her throne of melancholy sighing
If she could see her mirror now
She would be free of those who bow and
Scrape the ground before her feet
Silently she walks among her dying midnight roses
Watches as each moment goes that never really know us
And so it seems she doesn't care
If she has dreams of no one there
Within the shadows of her room
But all my frozen words agree, and say it's time to
Call back, all the birds i sent to
Fly behind her castle walls, and i'm
Weary of the nights i've seen
Inside these empty halls
Wooden lady turn and turn among my weary secrets
And wave within the hours past and other empty pockets
Maybe we've found what we have lost
When we've unwound so many crossed entangling
Misunderstandings; but
All my frozen words agree and say it's time to
Call back all the birds i sent to
Fly behind her castle walls, and i'm
Weary of the nights i've seen
Inside these empty walls

An Old Tree

An old tree stands by the edge of a cliff,
awaiting, awaiting the waters to lift.
The waves he cherishes like God's gift,
but through weeds and mountains he must first sift.

Lonely, pleading like a beggar,
he looks to the sea and wishes to tell her
to raise her waters with a good will,
so he could stand alone in the Home of Thrill.

An old tree stands alone on a hill,
forsaken and abandoned, he slowly dies,
as he watches the world's ages fall into a ghyll,
he sets his heart to where the sea-nymph cries.

In mimicry of the sea-nymph's tears,
he sends his roots cascading down the hills
like a waterfall of knowledge collected through the years.
What a sight to see! The spirit with sadness it fills.

An old tree once stood by the edge of a cliff,
waiting for some water to rise.
Now he's fallen, eaten by flies,
as he lays on the rocks, yet nobody cries.

What a life to have lived,
sad and alone.
As he dies, he knows he won't be missed.
No one grieves him but them he'll forgive,
even if they throw him like broken bones.
Yet even at death's gate his wish is dismissed.

His grave stands above the sea,
ever close to the waters free.
Death is cruel and ignores the plea,
And so water never reached by old friend the tree.

Outside

Outside the worlds a mindless child
Outside
Outside reflects the worst of styles
Outside
Inside when youre in my arms
A mindless child is still to be borne
Inside, baby, when we come inside
Outside the politics of greed
Outside
Outside misbehavior seethes
Outside
Mindless repression dominates the street
While I kneel down and kiss your feet
Inside, baby, when we come inside
Outside
Outside they dont think they breed
Outside
Outside emotion determines need
Outside
Outside the worlds a mindless child
That we could bring to life in your arms
Inside, baby, when we come inside
Outside the politics of hate an greed
Outside
Outside the worlds a mindless child
Outside
But when I hold you in my arms
Its a mindless child that you want
Inside, no matter bout the world outside
Inside, a babys what you want inside

The Heart, The Child, The World

Out in the world, the child
cries for the mother
as the wound cries for salt
as the lover cries
for her unrequited lover
as the ice cries out
for melting in the spring.

My heart is a spring
that pumps red blood.
I would give my child,
my girl child, my daughter
the vision of a mother
who does not flinch
when the heavy heel of man
comes down,
who loves the penis
when it pumps rich red blood
but values the wholeness
of her heart
above that battering organ,
that dumb implement,
which can so easily turn
from kind to cruel.

My heart is out in the world
like an orphan howling
on a street corner.
I want a warm, safe place
to hide my books, my child,
my heart
that is scarred,
seamed like a belly
which has given birth
to an imperious baby Caesar

but still,
despite its bursting fullness,

Life Of A Salesman

What's a dad for dad?
Tell me why I'm here dad
Whisper in my ear that I'm growing up to be a better man, dad
Everything is fine dad
Proud that you are mine dad
Cause I know I'm growing up to be a better man
Father I will always be
That same boy that stood by the sea
And watched you tower over me
Now I'm older I wanna be the same as you
What's a dad for dad?
Taught me how to stand, dad
Took me by the hand and you showed me how to be a bigger man, dad
Listen when you talk, dad
Follow where you walk, dad
And you know that I will always do the best I can
I can
Father I will always be (always be)
That same boy that stood by the sea
And watched you tower over me (over me)
Now I'm older I wanna be the same as you
The same as you
Father I will always be
That same boy that stood by the sea
And watched you tower over me
Now I'm older I wanna be the same as you
When I am a dad, dad x2
I'm gonna be a good dad x2
Do the best you could, dad x2
Always understood, dad x2
Tell me I was right, dad x2
Opened up my eyes, dad x2
Glad to call you my, dad x2
Thank you for my dad x2
