My Memory Of Elder Sister

On my 6th birthday my papa and mama split
my elder sister came with a gift
a bigger box wrapped in
red shining paper

I opened it
A brown sweater that fit me well
that cold night
i was feeling warm
and safe

still loved by someone else
but not the roots

One Of My Happiest Days

father and mother that time
split
like a bamboo unable to take
the sway anymore of the
wind's selfish dance

and you sister
remembered my birthday and
you gave me this gift:

a brown sweatshirt inside
a brown box
wrapped with brown manila paper

cool earth i touched, the place where all my roots are
and you are there as i poured it with tears

not the sad ones my dear sister
but tears of joy for your kind remembering

Kyrie, mass in c. k 427, Mozart

Papa is dead.
He is following mama.
His coffin is white
And shiny
Very much like
That of mama

In kyrie
The soprano
Sings for papa
In the church
For his last
Day today.

All seems to be white.
Pure, o they were
Purely in love

When they were
Alive, they always
Quarrel, papa kicks
Mama and mama
Bites him in return

They seem not to
Endure each other’s
Presence and each
Would want to
Kill each other.

Mama died first
And papa takes
Her picture and
Keeps it in his
Pocket and he
(mind you)
cries all night

papa loved mama
mama loved papa
after all.

Listen to the song
Of kyrie
Amadeus Mozart

A hymn for the
Dead who cannot endure
Each other when
They were once alive.

Until now, it is something
That I cannot understand.

I listen to kyrie
The soprano taking us to the tip of the mountain
Her human voice
Topping my puzzlement of it all

Why in death, why after death,
We realize the person that we miss

When he is gone, we say we love him most.

Papa loved mama after all
We loved papa after all.

Tell Me Again

Tell me again papa,
Of how my life was taken, .
Tell me again papa of how reality was shaken.

Tell me again mama,
Of how my life ended.
Tell me again mama,
Of how my human instincts faded.

Tell me again papa,
Of how I took my true form.
tell me again papa,
About the blackness of the storm.

Tell me again mama,
Of how you teet sunk into my skin.
tell me again mama,
Of how I came to win.

Tell me again papa,
About the pain that gave me forever.
Tell me again pap,
Of how you made me so clever.

Tell me again mama,
Of all the time we have to share in our own empire.
tell me again mama,
Oh how I became a vampire.

About Mama and Papa on Those Crucial Times...

the last day was crucial
it was excruciating,
i saw papa kicked mama
and mama fell down the
path
she was moving out from home
she could not take him anymore
everything was over
practically, , ,

the dogs barked
hating papa
they perhaps thought
he was a total stranger in
his own house
and they do not recognize
him as their
master anymore...

i walked away from home
on that crucial day
i did not want to know
what happened after

i heard papa died in
all pain

you told me that there was
that inevitable conclusion
that papa never loved mama
despite their five children
and 50 years...

i never believed you
i decided never to believe you
i believed that face in the mirror
half is papa's
the other half is mama's

how can there be two of them in me
if they never really loved each other?

they were sick and tired
those were the reasons
they forgot
that was the cause...

Me And My Elder Sister.

Me and my elder sister are twins,
We are one spirit in two bodies,
At d tym of birth she askd me to wait
So she can taste d world 2 see if its safe.
For three yrs I waited at d interphase
Til she was sure and guaranteed it safe.
All this she did for me
Ever sinc wen we were seeds

Me and my elder sister are twins,
She is taye and am kehinde you see,
She loves me so
She plays the role
Of the guinea pig
So I can live with ease.
To me she called
Its safe to come.

Me and my elder sister are twins,
We came early in spring
She is march 2nd and I am 3rd,
There is no coincidence in this course
She just loves me so
And I do love her so
Even now she still takes care of me
And I knw to her am stil her lil tender baby.

Me and my elder sister are twins
& dere aint no one dat wil take her place.
Cos it is fore're fixed in my heart lik d holy grail.

A big heart for your birthday

A big heart for your birthday

By having you
I feel like
I am falling in love again
With tears I deliver you
To see that this world is so beautiful
Life for us will be uneasy
But I never feel sorry
To bring you here
Because you are my little knight
Who will guide me and your papa
Do not cry …. Please smile always for me
You are my son
And my little sun shines
Mama can’t make you a big party
But mama has a big heart for loving you
Not only on your anniversary
But until mama and papa will leave you
And waiting for you in heaven
You will be a wonderful and cute little boy
In our new heart
Happy anniversary, my dear son ….

(For my son who will have his birthday on January)

What my mama utters in her deathbed

She is dying of diabetes, all her organs
Malfunctioning
On sugared complications,
Except some portions of her brain
Still asking questions,

Where is Leonora?
She is in the office mama still working
And where is Betty?
She is on your bedside mama and she is crying
Why? Is she sad? Did she pay her debts to the china man?
And where is Marcelino? Mama he is in Nigeria working
On a foreign ship and he has no way of coming,
his company is
Not allowing him to take his leave,
But his wife is here.
I don’t want her here

Who are you? Mama, I am Ric your son,
I am your favorite, don’t you
Remember me anymore?
Hold my hand; I am seeing some ghosts of your grandpa and grandma
And they hated me, hold my hand and hug me, I am cold, get me a blanket
And where is your papa? Mama, papa will be coming in a minute, but he
Is still drunk, but he loves you mama,

Who are you?
I do not know you; I was never a part of your dreams,
Leave me.

Mama, I am holding you, you are not cold you are warm,
Mama, just sleep

And she goes away just like that, sleeping on a travel, just like that,
And Betty cries,

Did she love her? Did he also love her?

when she died, some of us were there,
but i know she would have been happier left alone
to figure out
death herself

Killer/papa Was A Rollin Stone

So you want to be free
To live your life the way you wanna be
Will you give if we cry
Will we live or will we die
Tainted hearts heal with time
Shoot bad love so we can
Stop the bleeding
Solitary brother,
Is there still a part of you that wants to live?
Solitary sister,
Is there still a part of you that wants to give?
Solitary brother,
Is there still a part of you that wants to live?
Solitary sister,
Is there still a part of you that wants to give?
If we try to live our lives
The way we wanna be
Solitary brother,
Is there still a part of you that wants to live?
Solitary sister,
Is there still a part of you that wants to give?
Solitary brother,
Is there still a part of you that wants to live?
Solitary sister,
Is there still a part of you that wants to give?
Racism in future kins can only lead to no good
And besides, all our sons and daughters already
Know how that feels
(adam tinley/henry samuel)
Was the third of september
That day Ill always remember, yes I will
cause that was the day that my daddy died
Never had a chance to see him, no
Never heard nothing but bad things about him
Mama, Im depending on you to tell me the truth
Mama just hung her head and said
Chorus
Papa was a rollin stone
Wherever he laid his hat was his home
And when he died
All he left us was alone
(repeat)
Hey, mama, is it true what they say
That papa never worked aday in his life
Some bad talk going around sayin
Papa had three outside children
And another wife
That aint right
Heard some talk about papa and his storefront
Preachin
Talkin about saving souls and all the time
Leachin
And dealing in dirt
Stealin in the name of the lord
But mama she just said
Chorus
Say I heard my papa was a jack of all trades
Is that what papa sent to an early grave?
Folks say papa would beg, borrow or steal just
To pay his bills
Hey, mama, folks say papa was never much in thinkin
Spent most of his time chasin women and drinkin
But mother, Im depending on you
To tell me the truth
But my mama she just said
Chorus (2x)

Gift

And so it is
Gift wrapped
And awaiting
The impossible
The improbable
Over-night air
Flight of 'Hope'
So wanting
To be unwrapped
Gift paper
Still in tack
And the ribbon
Too
Saved and
Put away
'Til
That 'maybe'
Fateful day
When all that's
Been penned
Can be opened
And then
Surrendered
And left to grow
Weaving itself
Ever carefully
Into a lover's
Forever bow

Childhood....

that brown sweat shirt
from elder sister
during my 6th birthday,

i remember
the weather was too cold
and fogs hang on the
mountainside
like lots of doubts on my
forehead

i remember there was a heavy
rain and strong wind
and big waves from the sea

and there was no light
because
electricity was expensive
and father could not
afford it.

Its Your Life

They say that our love is all wrong
And that we should not carry on
But I say theyre wrong
I want you so bad
Oh weve been together for so long
How could they think we dont belong ?
But theyll never know what you and I have
Call your mama
Call your papa
Call the preacher
Hold on hold on
Call your mama
Call your papa
Go on and call the preacher
Hold on hold on
All I want to do is take it all the way with you
Its your life, its your life
All I want to do is take it all the way with you
Its your life, its your life, its your life
They say that we dont have a chance
Were victims of unjust romance
But they couldnt see the truth in their hands
We dont have to live like they do
Well run away if we have to
And well start a life thats shining and new
Thats shining and new
Call your mama
Call your papa
Go on and call the preacher
Hold on hold on
Call your mama
Call your papa
Call the preacher
Hold on hold on
All I want to do is take it all the way with you
Its your life, its your life, its your life

Papa, Can You Hear Me

papa, can you hear me?
papa, can you see me?
papa, can you find me in the night?
papa, are you near me?
papa, can you hear me?
papa, can you help me not be frightened?
looking at the skies i see a million eyes
which ones are yours?
where are you now
that yesterday has waved goodbye
and closed it's doors
the night is so much darker
the wind is so much colder
the world is so much bigger
now that i am alone
papa, please forgive me
i know you understand me
papa, don't you know i had no chose?
oh, can you hear me prayin'?
anything i'm sayin'?
even though the night is filled with voices
i remember everything you ever
taught me
evey book i've ever read
can all the words,
all the music help me face what's ahead?
the trees are so much taller
i feel so much smaller
the moon is twice as lonely
and the stars are half as bright
daddy, how i love you
daddy, how i need you
daddy, how i miss you
kissing me goodnight

God Bless This Child

Billie Holiday / Arthur Herzog Jr.
Them that's got shall get
Them that's not shall lose
So the Bible said and it still is news
Mama may have, Papa may have
But God bless the child that's got his own
That's got his own
Yes, the strong gets more
While the weak ones fade
Empty pockets don't ever make the grade
Mama may have, Papa may have
But God bless the child that's got his own
That's got his own
Money, you've got lots of friends
Crowding round the door
When you're gone, spending ends
They don't come no more
Rich relations give
Crust of bread and such
You can help yourself
But don't take too much
Mama may have, Papa may have
But God bless the child that's got his own
That's got his own
Mama may have, Papa may have
But God bless the child that's got his own
That's got his own
He just worry 'bout nothin'
Cause he's got his own

Papa-Omm-Mow-Mow

Papa-Oom-Mow-Mow
The Beach Boys
Frazier/White/Wilson, Jr./Harris
The last time we were up here
We did a song by another group of guys
We like very much
A real friendly group of guys
Called the Rivingtons
Their song is called "Papa-Oom-Mow-Mow"
A papa-oom-mow-mow
A papa-oom-mow-mow
A papa-oom-mow-mow
A papa-oom-mow-mow
Funniest sound I ever heard
(A papa-oom-mow-mow a papa-oom-mow-mow)
But I can't understand a single word
(A papa-oom-mow-mow a papa-oom-mow-mow)
Well if he's serious or if he's playin'
Woo my my it's all he's sayin
Papa-papa-hoooo
(A papa-oom-mow-mow a papa-oom-mow-mow)
Papa-papa-papa-hoooo
(A papa-oom-mow-mow a papa-oom-mow-mow)
Doot doot doot
(A papa-oom-mow-mow a papa-oom-mow-mow)
Doot doot doot
(A papa-oom-mow-mow a papa-oom-mow-mow)
Well say there pop, say what's your name?
(A papa-oom-mow-mow a papa-oom-mow-mow)
Well don't you come around and show your face
(A papa-oom-mow-mow a papa-oom-mow-mow)
But hearing the sound I can't figure it out
Oo-wee this sound makes me stop and shout
Papa-papa-hoooo
(A papa-oom-mow-mow a papa-oom-mow-mow)
Papa-papa-papa-hoooo
(A papa-oom-mow-mow a papa-oom-mow-mow)
Doot doot doot
(A papa-oom-mow-mow a papa-oom-mow-mow)
Doot doot doot
(A papa-oom-mow-mow a papa-oom-mow-mow)
Doot doot doot
Doot doot doot
Doot doot doot
A papa-papa-papa-papa-oom-mow-mow
(A papa-oom-mow-mow a papa-oom-mow-mow)
Doot doot doot
(A papa-oom-mow-mow a papa-oom-mow-mow)
Doot doot doot
(A papa-oom-mow-mow a papa-oom-mow-mow)
Doot doot doot
(A papa-oom-mow-mow a papa-oom-mow-mow)
Doot doot doot
Well I hear this sound everywhere I go
(A papa-oom-mow-mow a papa-oom-mow-mow)
From the record, TV, or the radio
(A papa-oom-mow-mow a papa-oom-mow-mow)
But now it's spreadin' all through the land
I still can't seem to understand
Papa-papa-hoooo
(A papa-oom-mow-mow a papa-oom-mow-mow)
Papa-papa-papa-hoooo
(A papa-oom-mow-mow a papa-oom-mow-mow)
Papa-papa-hoooo
Doot doot doot
(A papa-oom-mow-mow a papa-oom-mow-mow)
Papa-papa-papa-hoooo
Doot doot doot
(A papa-oom-mow-mow a papa-oom-mow-mow)
Papa-papa-hoooo

Mama said dont play with boys
Sister said stop all romancing
Brother said stop all your noise

Breakaway ha, ha breakaway
Papa said aint working harder
Better stay and work through the night
Come over here and sit in my lap now
You might get a rise if you do what is right
Breakaway ha, ha breakaway
Breakaway ha, ha breakaway
Got to tear off your chains
Pull up your roots
Pack up your money
And put on back your boots and breakaway
Breakaway ha, ha breakaway

Stand up boy, down at the disco
Say I like you, will you dance on with me
Say I love you, youre the girl Ive been wanting

Tell Your Mama Come

Everybody gather 'round, this is a test
Dancin', dancin', dancin', dancin'
Dancin', dancin', dancin', dancin'
Dancin', dancin', dancin', dancin'
Dancin', dancin', dancin', dancin'
(Will)
Yo, you and you, you and you and you
All of y'all invited to come kick it with my crew
I get you all excited if I tell you what we do
Just come along and tell everybody no matter who
Spread the word, by the chitter chat
And go like this, and kinda go like that
It's taking place inside and outside
In your house, in your ride
Gotta get it, get it right
And that's the way it went
It's only evident
And the music's been sent
To move your ligament
Show you down to us
C'mon baby shake that thang
We ain't tryin' to hold nobody back
Tell your mama come
Tell your papa come
Tell your brother come
Tell your sister come
Tell your cousin come
Tell your homie come
Cuz y'all can come along
Nigga come along
Tell your mama come
Tell your papa come
Tell your brother come
Tell your sister come
Tell your cousin come
Tell your homie come
Cuz they can come along
Really y'all can come along
(Apl De Ap)
This is an invitation
So gather up your crew
We goin' on a mission
Provided by the who (who)
The three amigos
Doin' our way like Carlitto's
I'm seein' Se?oritas
Send some me the Se?oritos
So grab her by the hand
And make her feel the jam
It's like a salsa dance
Hotter than some desert sands
So baby sway
Dilate me like my people
Come and unify
The reason this we are equal
And if you're feelin' down
We're here to pick you up
You can shake it off
Baby just tell me what's up
Let me help you out
Or you can turn your back
We don't wanna hold nobody back
Tell your mama come
Tell your papa come
Tell your brother come
Tell your sister come
Tell your cousin come
Tell your homie come
Cuz they can come along
Hey y'all can come along
Tell your mama come
Tell your papa come
Tell your brother come
Tell your sister come
Tell your cousin come
Tell your homie come
Cuz they can come along
All of y'all can come along
And join in the fun
Come along and join in the fun
Come along and join in the fun

Yo, my man Taboo
Look they don't understand
Why don't you flip it up

Let The Wind Carry Me

Papas faith is people
Mama she believes in cleaning
Papas faith is in people
Mama shes always cleaning
Papa brought home the sugar
Mama taught me the deeper meaning
She dont like my kick pleat skirt
She dont like my eyelids painted green
She dont like me staying up late
In my high-heeled shoes
Living for that rocknroll dancing scene
Papa says leave the girl alone, mother
Shes looking like a movie queen
Mama thinks she spoilt me
Papa knows somehow he set me free
Mama thinks she spoilt me rotten
She blames herself
But papa he blesses me
Its a rough road to travel
Mama let go now
Its always called for me
Sometimes I get that feeling
And I want to settle
And raise a child up with somebody
I get that strong longing
And I want to settle
And raise a child up with somebody
But it passes like the summer
Im a wild seed again
Let the wind carry me

one more day papa
for me to get to know you more
how the days and years have built a wall between us
how you kept on telling me that after mama died the years had become so
hollow and even so cruel
one day more papa
you have always repeated that we are destined to be split
like a bamboo
and that sharp bolo does it with nothing but seconds

i leave back to where i am
and you will be staying to where you are
you tell me your heart is broken
but i will not tell you that mine too is bleeding

one day more papa and there will be no other days
i have long been dead away from your hands
