My Creator
to places that i have not been to
someone was already there for me
for those that i have not yet seen
he simply describes it for me
for those that my skin has never felt
he already sent the feelers for me
for those that may have killed me
he had already taken death for me
for those who say that they never miss me
someone says he wants to see me and hug me
for those that i have not known and worried about
someone knows the answers someone takes the clout

It Takes A Worried Man
Oh it takes a worried man, sing a worried song
Takes a worried man, come sing a little worried song
Well it takes a worried man to sing a worried song
Im worried now, wont be worried long
I went down to the riverside and I laid me down to sleep
Went down to the riverside, laid me down to sleep, lord
A-well I went down to the riverside, laid me down to sleep
When I woke up there were shackles on both-a my feet
Hit it!
(chorus)
It takes a worried man, to sing a worried song
It takes a worried man (come) to sing a worried song
Yeah, it takes a worried man, yeah, to sing a worried song
Im worried now but I wont be worried long
Worry for me!
(instrumental)
I said, judge (judge) judge, whats a-gonna be my fine?
I said, judge (judge) judge (judge) tell me whats gonna be my fine?
I said, judge (judge) judge (judge) tell me whats gonna be my fine?
He said, twenty-one years (oh) on that old rock island line
Oh well it takes a worried man, to sing a worried song
Takes a worried man, to sing a worried song
Yeah, it takes a worried man, to sing a worried song
Im worried now, but I wont be worried long
Sing it one more time!
It takes a worried man, to sing a worried song
It takes a worried man, to sing a worried song, my lord
It takes a worried man, to sing a worried song
Im worried now, but I wont be worried long

Would You Care If I Was Dead?
You say you care and your here to help
But are those just words knowing you can say i love you and nothing is felt
Are you really there? if i killed my self would you be scared?
Would you cry and scream? Would you even care?
Would you notice and take your life in return?
Or would you laugh and curse my soul to burn?
would you admit your love even though its too late?
Would my death put you in a blackwhole kind of state?
Would you love no one because i am gone?
Or would you say whatever and simply move on?
I go through these questions in my head over and over agin.
Wondering what your answers would be if i was dead.
Well nows the time to answer because i'm afraid todays the day i shall take my life away.

We Are Worried
We are worried
Our once prosperous land
Is now a beggar
We are worried
Our incandescent light
Is now blurred
We are worried
Love no longer co-habits
On our wide streets
We are worried
That brothers slaughter brothers
All in the name of God
We are worried
How vultures prey
On our commonwealth
We are worried
The gap gets wider
Between the rich and the poor
We are worried
About our youths
Whose destinies are bleak.
We are worried
That the ship may sink
Like the titanic.
We are worried
We do not know who to trust
We are worried of many things

A new idea is delicate. It can be killed by a sneer or a yawn; it can be stabbed to death by a quip and worried to death by a frown on the right man's brow.
Which Describes How Youre Feeling
Which describes how youre feeling all the time
Which describes how youre feeling all the
Feeling all the time
Theres this guy in the sky and he makes you want to
Want to make you sigh, like the time
When you felt like youre feeling all the time
And you sighed at the cracks in the ceiling all the time
You said Im feeling fine but it didnt really rhyme
It didnt rhyme, overseas
Which describes how youre feeling all the time
It describes how youre feeling
Which describes how youre feeling all the time
When you lie that your lifes unappealing all the time
But your lie doesnt rhyme with the word overseas
Overseas theres this guy
Who describes how youre feeling all the time
In his mind he can find how youre feeling all the time
From behind distant lines
Even straighter than his spine
Which is fine
Which is fine
And describes how youre feeling all the time

Have You Met Miss Jones?
It happened
I felt it happened
I was awake
I wasnt blind
I didnt think
I felt it happened
Now I belive in matter over mind.
And now you see we mustnt wait
The nearest moment that we marry is too late!
Have you met miss jones
Someone said as we shook hands
She was just miss jones to me
Then I said miss jones
Youre a girl who understand
Im a boy who must be free.
And all at once I lost my breath
And all at once was scared to death
And all at once I hold the eatrh and sky!
Now I met miss jones
And well keep on meeting till we die
Miss jones and i

Collide
I felt my heart collapse
On the day that I met him
I felt my heart collapse
It filled up to the rim
I felt my heart collapse
When my eyes traveled 'round
I felt my heart collapse
The one I had found
I felt my heart collapse
When he first touched my skin
I felt my heart collapse
Oh it seemed a lovely sin
I felt my heart collapse
It fell without a sound
I felt my heart collapse
Oh I knew I had found
I felt my heart collapse
When we shared that first kiss
I felt my heart collapse
I thought that I would almost miss
I felt my heart collapse
I was lost in his embrace
I felt my heart collapse
I kept staring at his face
Oh my heart collapsed on that day
Ever since it's been that same way
My love for you has not faded
Ever since the day it escaped

The Death Of Mr Healy
a man i never met
met his death
fishing in a storm
on a lake near
where i grew up
at the age of ten
i saw us drown
our trashing panic
killed a part of me
i felt our fear
our lungs loaded
struggling fright
our ears exploding
the lake was sixty
something deep
’high as our church
i saw us drown
past the windows
sinking down
Christ in Heaven
to the ground
sixty something i still mourn
the death of Mr Healy.
His death made death be.
The death of Mr Healy
killed a part of me.

Can we Heal?
I looked in the eyes of
Death and felt remorse.
I looked in the eyes of
Death and saw peace
I felt the hand of death
And hated
I held the body of death
And redeemed myself naked
Oh death, the unanswered
Question.
The fear of many, the
Fear of none.
Why do we live?
Why do we live? If
Not for death.

I Miss My Innocence
I miss my swing, I miss my whip,
I miss my mother's grip,
my dirty hands and my soiled feet
my filthy face, my innocence.
I miss the way i used my slipper,
the incorrect way of wearing my t-shirt
I miss my friends and their sweet grins,
the way we talk and brag,
I miss the places where we used to play-
I miss my childish years yeah!
i miss my innocence.
Learning to Die
Death is not sudden, death does not grieve,
Death takes a while to achieve.
Death comes in layers;
Death is the mouse
From under the couch
At three am, and from under the stairs.
Death is the tumour on my mother’s skin,
Death is a jackhammer pounding in.
Death is a scrabbling crab on all fours,
Death is a jaguar on rough padded paws,
Lurking in the oven doors,
And hiding in the bureau drawers.
Death is the lump within my breast,
Death is the invited dinner guest.
Death is the cadaver,
A slab of cold meat
That lies on a plate.
Death is the wall of frozen sleet.
Death to me comes much too late.

One Second Behind(for Junie)
Memory takes
the chair
places it perfectly
in mid-air
yet erases the stair
that brings me there
forgets to sketch in
the rest of the house
the storm is placed
just outside the window
(just as it was)
livid with lightning
the voice of the thunder
the window appearing
out of nowhere
a wall a little
unsure of itself
appears & disappears.
Memory still holds us
curled up together
the chair's pattern
imprinted on your skin
each one not knowing
where one ends or begins
your voice
creates the story
& I
intently listen
unwilling to miss
a single syllable
the poem written
upon your breath
memory as if obcessed
attempts to recover
what is...lost
puts it back
bit by bit
until it almost
achieves a perfect
fit
but
not
...quite
Death erasing
every scene
as it is
written
memory desperate
to attain a perfection
arrange and re-arrange
it again.
Death always
one second ahead
memory always
one second behind.

How Different Feelers Are!
A difficult catch was floored,
In which the batsman felt relieved,
The fielder felt having done his best
And the bowler felt disappointed.
An easy catch was slipped,
In which the batsman felt happy,
The fielder felt ashamed
And the bowler became annoyed.
A difficult catch was taken,
In which the batsman felt crestfallen,
The fielder became proud
And the bowler grew joyous.
An easy catch was taken,
In which the batsman felt guilty,
The fielder felt fortunate
And the bowler got his pride.
How different the feelers are
In a given situation!

Since I Have Felt The Sense Of Death
Since I have felt the sense of death,
Since I have borne its dread, its fear—
Oh, how my life has grown more dear
Since I have felt the sense of death!
Sorrows are good, and cares are small,
Since I have known the loss of all.
Since I have felt the sense of death,
And death forever at my side—
Oh, how the world has opened wide
Since I have felt the sense of death!
My hours are jewels that I spend,
For I have seen the hours end.
Since I have felt the sense of death,
Since I have looked on that black night—
My inmost brain is fierce with light
Since I have felt the sense of death.
O dark, that made my eyes to see!
O death, that gave my life to me!

The Supply Teacher
Here's the rule for what to do
If ever your teacher has the flu
Or for some other reason takes to her bed
And a different teacher comes instead
When the visiting teacher hangs up her hat
Writes the date on the board, does this or that
Always remember, you have to say this,
OUR teacher never does that, Miss!
When you want to change places or wander about
Or feel like getting the guinea pig out
Never forget, the message is this,
OUR teacher always lets us, Miss!
Then, when your teacher returns next day
And complains about the paint or clay
Remember these words, you just say this:
That OTHER teacher told us to, Miss!

The Skin Game
Oh
See you, you in there dancin,
And Im in here needing questions and answers
(ha!, ha!), hey!, (ha!, ha!)
Ha!, hoo!, ha!, hoo!, ha!, hoo!, ha!
The dance is in
When theyre mine
Try to learn the rules
Dont mind showin
Equal chances (taught)
For our amuses
Not much can beat the odds
No excuses, lets play the skin game
(ha!, ha!, ha!), hoo!, (ha!, ha!, ha!), ooh!,(ha!, ha!)
Sing it!, ha!, hoo!, ha!, (sing it!), sing it!, ha!, hoo!, (your choice), ha!
You say your set
So lets get started
Try to be the best
But dont be that smart
You know what your brother gets
No need to complain
Just figure out, that theres a way to play,
To play the skin game
Chorus:
The skin game is still around, sing it!,
But you cant keep a good man down
(play the skin game)
(ha!, ha!, ha!), hoo!, ha!, (ha!, ha!), hoo!, (ha!, ha!) ha!, ( ha!), hoo!
Repeat chorus
Cant, cant, cant, cant, cant, cant, cant, cant
Keep a good man down
And Im in here needing questions and answers
(ha!)
Hoo!
Repeat chorus
(and Im in here needing questions and answers)
Outside lookin in, in, in
The door is open, but you cant get in
Somethings in the way
Its a skin game (oh, just a skin game)
Just a skin game
Lets play the skin game (game)
Hoo!, hoo!
(sing it for the people yall)
Repeat chorus
The skin game is still around, sing it!,
But you cant, cant, cant, cant, cant, cant, cant, cant, cant
Keep a good man down,
Cant, cant, cant, cant, sing it!, cant, cant, cant, cant, sing it!
Repeat chorus
Hoo!
Break it down, sing it!
Hoo!
Sing it!
(sing it for the people yall)
Sing it!
(sing it!, sing it!, sing it, sing it again!)
(sing it again, sing it again, and again, and again, and again, and again)
Repeat chorus
The skin game is still around
See you in there dancin,
And Im in here needing questions and answers

Afternoon Musings 7
sometimes i miss a friend
who talks to me without knowing
what time is
one who is carefree and freewilling
like the way we blow the bubbles
of soap and water in the air
when we laughed so loud
when we were those naughty children
sometimes i miss the times
when we bathe in the river
naked with our innocence
plunging in the noise and the rage
of the rippling waters
and not thinking about
what we are or who we are
or what do we become of ourselves
i miss the times when we simply bask
under the sun to dry our wet tight bodies
when we close our eyes under such a strong light
and see the comfort of orangeness inside us
i miss the times when we simply sit on the grass
on early afternoons watching the sun setting on the sea
waiting till it becomes dark when the stars come
like an array of friends to the full moon slowly
ascending, and how all of them shine and though
so distant from us, they all appear to be happy
in that glimmer and glitter, on that summer
many years ago before the coming of death & despair

The Pain of Loss
i loved you
i cared for you
but all i got back was pain
pain of loss
pain of death
it felt as if you drove a selfish dagger into my chest
but now
now i see that the kindness in me
has been forgotten
forgotten and never to be found
because you cause it
all the flowers droop
all the trees moan
moan from the pain they know i burdened
but you wrought this pain
i will never forget what you did
i will never let go of this grudge i bare
i hate you
you killed me
you killed the love i could have brought
you killed what was left of me
