Marking The Boundaries
this is yours and
this is mine
you do not step within
my own line
and circle
i exclude you and you
must exclude me
as we mark the boundaries
of our
lonely territories
what if we change
this law of exclusion into the
nicer code
of inclusions like
this is ours and we
are one
we are brothers and sisters
the earth as our mother
the sky as father
and the rest of the humanity
as stars
the heavens smile
the space bends into a vow
the journey though long
and there is no time
nor light years
to mark our differences
there are no more fragments
of this porcelain jar
there is only a spread of silk
in space
and we are the intricacies
of that beautiful design
embroideries of God
sequins and diamond glitters
of that whole dress
in that party of happiness

Love One Another
Everybody needs a little tenderness
Everybody needs a release
From the cell they lock themselves in
Loves the only peace
Everybody needs
Everybody Cries
Everybody Bleeds
Everybody Dies
Everybody Dreams
Everybody Wakes
Everybody makes mistakes
Love one another
Sisters and brothers
Love one another
Love one another
Father and mother
Love one another
Its easier to walk away when youve
Got a wounded pride
When two people stand together
Thats how they heal inside
Try to understand
Open up your heart
A fist is just a hand
It can come apart
Let go of the past, let go of the fight
Forgiving fills the world with light
Love one another
Sisters and brothers
Love one another
Love one another
Father and mother
Love one another
We were given a world so beautiful
A deep ocean, a blue-blue sky
I know we can make it a better place
If only you and I

The Idea of Ancestry
Taped to the wall of my cell are 47 pictures: 47 black
faces: my father, mother, grandmothers (1 dead), grand-
fathers (both dead), brothers, sisters, uncles, aunts,
cousins (1st and 2nd), nieces, and nephews. They stare
across the space at me sprawling on my bunk.I know
their dark eyes, they know mine.I know their style,
they know mine.I am all of them, they are all of me;
they are farmers, I am a thief, I am me, they are thee.
I have at one time or another been in love with my mother,
1 grandmother, 2 sisters, 2 aunts (1 went to the asylum),
and 5 cousins.I am now in love with a 7-yr-old niece
(she sends me letters in large block print, and
her picture is the only one that smiles at me).
I have the same name as 1 grandfather, 3 cousins, 3 nephews,
and 1 uncle. The uncle disappeared when he was 15, just took
off and caught a freight (they say). He's discussed each year
when the family has a reunion, he causes uneasiness in
the clan, he is an empty space. My father's mother, who is 93
and who keeps the Family Bible with everbody's birth dates
(and death dates) in it, always mentions him. There is no
place in her Bible for "whereabouts unknown."

For Things That We Cannot Change
the establishment
is at it again
deaf ears
strong hands
stiff minds
hard bodies
resisting change
of the clenched fists
there they are again
on barb-wired fences
defining boundaries
of thoughts
exclusiveness shutting out
variations of the race
this is the political science
of exclusion
of prisons and walls
here they are again
at the emphasis of penalties
and fines
setting aside the art
of compassion
the fusion
the inclusions
this art of loving
and giving meaning
and welcoming whatever
differences
in colors and creed
the magnanimous
art of toleration
here we are again
back to the beginning of time
the age of
renaissance
the flowering of hope
the blooms
of thoughts

Man’s Role
The elder son of each family
Jointly made a moral code
By which they must not eat
Each other and instead
They could live on their brothers and sisters,
Who are meant to serve them.
The elder sons of the family
Made it a law of their father
With no concern to their mother.
The mother was furious.
The time is not far to neglect
The elder son altogether.
[Father is the God, Mother is the Earth,
the elder brother is man, brother is animals and sister is vegetation]

The Party
Laughter filled the room;
Streamers decorated the ceiling-
My fourth birthday,
I knew I was beautiful in
My favorite party dress-
Lights dimmed as
I blew out the candles
On my cake-
Cherry frosting upon
Angel food,
My very favorite-
Inside I was
Echoing my mother’s smile-
I was a different star,
Though bright and
Beaming with happiness –
I loved myself-
A different star,
Though too young to fathom
Life’s meaning,
Too naïve to
Read the pain behind my mother’s smile-
Trees would shed illumination upon
My inner space,
Surrounding our New England mansion and
Their branches tossed about in the
Late January wind-
One day that star’s light would burn out,
That I could not then foresee-
Lying on a hard blue mattress in a seclusion room,
Only ten years later,
My life would transform to
The land of the dead-
Rain would inundate my inner space,
As my mother would lie motionless in her bed,
Covers rumpled and nobody cared-
Nobody cared that I was screaming inside, and
Cut off from reality-
Streamers adorned the ceiling in a different place-
My 15th birthday spent listening to records
On a scratched phonograph in a hospital solarium,
The foul stench of urine permeating the room as
I, lost in another time and space,
Blew out the candle on the stale Hostess cupcake as
Other patients sang “Happy birthday”
Each in their own key-
I hardly remembered
My favorite party dress, or the cherry frosting because
The anger and pain I felt
Were just to overpowering-
The late January wind
Rattled the cracked window in the seclusion room-
“Happy birthday” became the saddest song-
I was hardly beautiful in
That seersucker hospital gown,
The hatred I felt towards myself
Was becoming as overwhelming as
The rage I felt towards my mother-
For giving birth to me-
This institution was a far cry from
That New England mansion and
I was weeping inside bitter tears of despair-
The lights were dimming, and I didn’t care-
Because my world had become so dark already that
I could not distinguish reality from unreality, and
My mother’s smile was
None but a shadow, which has
Vanished in the cruel late January wind...

Race
Lie down, [fair 1//pheromone], and come away
Till the rain is over and gone
G-g-gimme the beat now (face the music)
Lead line (face the music)
If the air is a little thick in this room 2nite
I reckon its the result of an onslaught of separatist rookies
Overcome by this colorful sight
Talkin so fast that even they
Talkin so fast that even they
Dont know what they mean
Of all the things that base a rhyme
How is it that u everytime
Regurgitate the racist lines that keep us apart?
Thank God this aint monopoly
Ud make us all go back 2 start
Race
In the space I mark human (face the music)
Race
Face the music
We all bones when we dead
Race
In the space I mark human (face the music)
Cut me, cut u
Both the blood is red
I gotcha
Race
Race
Check it
Three seats over theres a lady black
Entrusted 2 her care is a little white girl
And the fact of the matter is
Before her momma or another kid at school
Tells her about the fallacy that 1 race rules over the other
Shed be a much-better-off-left fool (face the music)
If we never heard about the evils that those before us committed
Then how my dear, tell me now how my dear, tell me now how now would we know
And then the band say
Race
In the space I mark human (face the music)
Race
Face the music
We all bones when we dead
Race
In the space I mark human (face the music)
Cut me, cut u
Both the blood is red
I gotcha
Race
Race
(face the music)
D-d-down with h-i-s-t-o-r-y and all this bs propagandi
Keepin u from me and me from u as we grow
I dont wanna know (I dont wanna know)
Why those before us hated each other
Id rather believe they never did
Id rather believe (Id rather, Id rather believe)
That theres hope 4 a kid
And if he imitates the best
I guess thats what Ill try 2 be
And I will let the rest dissolve with my guitar underneath the sea
Race
(face face face face face)
Face the music (face the music)
Face the music
Race
In the space I mark human (face the music)
Race
Face the music
We all bones when we dead
Race
In the space I mark human (face the music)
Cut me, cut u
Both the blood is red
Get it?
Race
Got it
Race
Face the music
Race race
(face face face the music)
Race race

Race race
Race race

Words Of Wisdom
Mark: we ... we have a new album out, it was released the fifteenth. it's called closer to home. we'd like to do one ... we'd like to do one from the album. ah ..., but before we do, i feel that
.., i have to tell you something because i know that if you were in my place that you would do it for me.
Mark: ah ... brothers and sisters, there are people out there that look just like you or maybe ah ..., your brother ah ..., but they're not. and, when they hand you something, don't take it -- don't take it, okay?
Mark: this is mean mistreater ...

When My Time Comes
when my time comes
i welcome time
when i die
i welcome death
like a long lost friend
of mine
when i am born again
like what they always do
babies
we start our life with a
big cry again
don't you see these
occurences in your skin
birth rebirth
don't you see how
culture comes in all
things and lives in
cycles
from fly to
butterfly
from turtle
to myrtle
doves
from cell to
you
from a mere thought
to enlightenment
from a touch of my finger
to the fire of
your soul
from the atom
to the the big bang
of the universal explosion
choose belief
have faith in the undertakings
of the stars and planets
in the sparkles of your
mind
everything comes and goes
and entwines and
climbs
ladder to ladder
cloud to cloud
space to space
unknown to known to unknown
have
and not have
none and full
you do not understand them
now
until one night when you
gaze to the heavens
and see the distance
between you and them
and then you close your eyes
and all of them are
just right within you
brothers and sisters
and kin and parents and
ancestors
one big world
in the most intimate moment
of this and that
i, will, choose, rebirths
a thousand times
i, will, choose, pain.

For My Secret Love
i content myself with only
a glance of you per day
to exclude the touch
of your hand,
to exclude practically
everything
that may fulfill this longing
at one glance only
for only an hour of the year
i can say
my life is fulfilled in self-
restraint.

Luck In Space
It was pure luck of survival, before the event,
The whole journey was plenty of protein;
A few wanted a launch into space, an universe
Of authority that terribly spoke to the sun.
Stars followed and pattered due to light,
Smart accusations to aliens were made.
A deadly slow space-craft was the effect,
Helmets were worn to save a crew of special captains.
Then survival became essential, like the fog,
It crept and dismayed me as a work of craft;
The vessels of space supplied me with fortune,
My fuel for the fire became the sun and stars.
So much the better. The astronauts were readier,
Without their cricket and gold on Earth.
A few hours in space meant a century,
For time became slow for some reason.
The dead spacemen had to be found for they lived
Among the stars for all eternity.

I Hope For Improvement
I have a point to improve,
And to improve presence;
Releasing the mark is correct,
Played upon and imaginative.
My point is that I hope
To exclude the promises,
And so form the invitations
Of some preparations.
Introduce me sometimes,
And replace me with others.
To represent my party of people
Is using the points perfectly.
I follow and be followed
Like the jumping of athletes.
To save me seems to run
Into difficulties.

Utter Space
I come from outer space at least I think I do
I need a change of pace thats why I walk with you
Its a change up-left-one-two
In outer space
Ive had a change of heart Im tired of being the best
I need another part to make an educated guess
And help me pass the test
In outer space
In outer space
In outer space
I come from outer space at least I think I do
I need another face I need one just like you
Its a change up-left-one-two
In outer space
In outer space
In outer space
The space
Outer space
The space
In outer space

0032From Shankara on the Chandogya Upanishad 8.1.1
Inside the body
is a little place.
you could say that
this is like a lotus
for it floats on the surface of the waters of life
and opens its petals to the heavens,
rejoicing to be alive.
or you could say that
it is like a house
for it is where you return for rest and re-creation
within the love of family,
within the safety of its walls.
or you could say that
it is like a city
for it has a palace and a treasury, and many officers
such as mind and intellect
to fulfil its needs.
yet within that little place,
a space,
as large as the universe itself.
we should know about that space.
within it are comprehended
the heavens and the earth;
the elements, sound, air, fire, light, water, all that’s underfoot
that arises from the earth, returns to dust;
whatever is, and what is not;
all in that little space
which because it is space
is unbounded.
it does not age with age,
with wrinkles nor gray hair, nor
with forgetful mind;
beyond all sorrows, since sorrow comes
from separation;
free to have desires,
since it satisfies all desires
and lives in its own satisfaction;
that satisfaction, they call bliss – what else?
you need not seek outside for this;
all this is in your heart.

Vaster
The heavens of the heavens are vaster than space and time,
They unite the past with the present, and the future.
Our playing is in the middle, the opinion of mastership,
Which carried full life, living like lice, loving loathingly.
To live under the Sun, we master itself,
Then where is its rays? Where do we play under the Sun?
The rays connect us to the past, we believe in it
But do not worship it, clever danger.
Vaster than space and time,
Beautiful like Time,
Better than Space.

A Crack Where A Ray Of Light May Pass Through
a door long closed if you try opening it
rusty and worn makes the squeaking sound
of antiquity slipping through a crack of the
walls that fit too closely with time
its frames too tight for a breaking light
but we must open it this time of need
when words do not wish to be given birth
to a casual utterance in an intimate conversation
i push and you pull and we must move towards
a different direction at least only for a while
you see, some rays of light start to come inside
the boredom and the monotony of the sounds of our
lonely days touching the lines of our palms
this time there are changes on the way things
Aline themselves to a certain harmony
not alienating, some boundaries, a little distance
space, more space, you move and i do not get near you.

Where is God?
Where is God?
Show me where can I see him or her!
Ask the theist!
He will point his fingrer to the sky;
Or space above the sky,
No one can see him or her in the space / sky!
He will show the temple before you
You can see only statues in front of you!
While you can't see the God
in the land where you live
or in the human beings around you,
One can't see the God in the space or temple;
'Mother, Father and Teacher are the real Gods'
God is present in the people
who are good natured with humanity;
in the children who are innocent.

Poem of Child 1
Wondering at the world,
Feeling the soft touch of hands,
And warmth of her breast,
Smelling her fragrance,
Hearing beloved mother's voice
I opened my eyes!
Wonderful was that first sight,
Where then I found father, brothers and sisters,
Where I was before these people found me?
unknown I was, may be a traveller,
Or may be some charged cosmic ray,
May I am here million times,
Each time not lucky to know parents,
Sometimes came out egg breaking shells,
May Sometime breaking seedcoat,
Lifting my head above ground,
Germinating plant or may be as a magot in fruit,
However I am lucky this time,
Where I can know myself,
Seeing my face at least in mirror,
This time feeling more love,
More hopes,
Learning languages and knowledge of ages,
I grow with smile, smile on face of others
on my thoughts and deeds,
Words and thoughts,
Smile grew on Face of my parents with my growth!
Mastering senses one by one,
Mastering legs and hands,
Mastering own mind step by step,
I move here with time and space,
I had to adjust with this clock and distance,
Yes each evrytime I have to adjust to the clock,
My body clock to be synchronized everytime!

Let This Be Understood
We stand apart
We draw the lines
You are there
& I am here
We make an agreement
To maintain the differences
Between us
We understand to know nothing
About us
And there will no insistence
I draw a circle
When I get in you must be out
When I go out you must get in
We always exclude one another
That is the agreement
Or this house burns
On a short circuit
Or another one dies
shocked
on electric
execution
On parallel distances
All is safe, nothing burns.
