Make Everything Brief And Concise

and so they tell you,
be brief and concise,
you try to follow
you flow on some
self-imposed restraints,
a brief river on a
concise ripple,

you opted instead
for silence and with
full respect for the
instructions of the law
even the fish there
tiptoed on a
tutu.

what a mockery!
the snakes hissed.

Sea of Immortality

The river flows through life as fish in the sea
The soul follows every twist every turn
Follow them and you will see
Follow life as it goes in time you will burn
Life flows as a river around turns and bends please follow me

Follow the river through its course
Through The pain and trials
Follow with truth if in vain the pain will worsen
Through The long hard miles
Follow the river through its course

Through the dams past the currents will flow
Through the trees and vines that you know
Some places flow high some flow low
Some filled with pleasure some with woe
Yet it shall not slow

The river of life it flows through the turns
Follow as the river moves on
To the ocean, to the sea
There your soul shall be lost
In the sea of immortality

It's nice to be concise

I think it’s nice
To be concise
In everything you write

To be slightly terse
With all your verse
Is usually to write right

One should take their time
When composing rhyme
And try to keep it light

Maintain their meter
Try to make it neater
And never ever lose sight

Try not to doze
Whilst deep in prose
don’t write too late at night

Try not to swell your sonnet
Nor Try to dwell upon it
Because it could end up quite a fright

You don’t want to try to
End up with a haiku
Lord knows that wouldn’t be right…but

I just think it’s nice
To be concise…
In everything you write

The Day We Met

the day we met
our eyes level

our hands entwine
both full grown
and mature

our heads
are different
mine is bigger
and yours so
hard and brittle

yet we agree
on something
and some feelings

we agree
we do not have to change
you or me
or both of us

we agree
on this love

we accept
everything
what i have you take
what you have i too, take

it is all yes
there is no no

but for our survival
we agree
that on some blanks
we may fill up
and make our own
answers

brief and concise
and no tearing
of pages

no return
no exchange

these are the rules
these are the instructions

now, we may proceed
let us turn to the next page, please...

I have a talent for silence and brevity. I can keep silent when it seems best to do so, and when I speak I can, and do usually, quit when I am done. This talent, or these two talents, I have cultivated. Silence and concise, brief speaking have got me some laurels, and, I suspect, lost me some. No odds. Do what is natural to you, and you are sure to get all the recognition you are entitled to.

My Innocence

To humans I boast my innocence,
They seem so innocent, so concise in speech;
My life resides in me, like a part of speech,
Just to be exultant, just to be heavenly.
May the red blood not contaminate me,
As humans wear some mockery.
The singing does soar with flames,
When boasting is about like the trumpet.
Tremors of rain brighten the day
With joy of triumph, the very strength of humanity.

At Night When The Air Comes

at night i hear the coming of the air
hushing,
i feel the touch of its fingers
that is why
i understand coldness
and patience
and ultimately the life of
silence
short and too concise
brief and frank
and candid and yes, sometimes
it can be so cruel.

Help...

He is walking by a river
Feeling worse and worse by the minute
One second he is looking at the river
The next he is in it
The icy cold water pulling him down
His screams starting to make no sound.
He keeps fighting, kicking, howling
It was no use
The river was going to send him down
It would laugh in his ear
Knowing his struggle was useless
Though the boy was clueless.
It was decided that
That was all he could take
Letting his mind go numb
For his nerovs's sake
He is submerged in the water
Hearing a final laugh of victory
Just a bunch of mockery
From the stuipd river
nothing could be less civil

Down underwater
he could see many fish
And they looked kind of bothered
'Do not let the river win! '
a fish cried to him
'But I cannot swim no more
and you are just one fish' he sighed
The fish smiled 'Yes, but help can grow'
All the fish gathered around
And now the river no longer pulling him down
He gasped for air
Now he could see
That the poeple who really care
are the ones who can really help me.

From the Banks of Ganga: IV

I sit by your banks
In awe of your flow
A parallel flow within
Watches every ripple:
Indefinable happiness
Peace is absence of
Even a ripple of thought
What follows peace is bliss
I suppose…

Loitering and searching
The best place to meet
The loved one is by
One's own banks of the heart
Where flows Gangs of love

The flow overwhelms me
Doesn't allow me stretch my hand
For the other…
I'm unto myself!

So you flow
So do I
Not against your tide
But with your flow

Flow Flow Flow!

Pisces Fish

Rowers gliding on the river
Canadian geese crap along the bank
Back wheel of my bike begins to quiver
The chain is wrapped around the crank
Old ladies, who must be doggie training
Walking, throwing balls, chasing all the sheep
While the farmer stands around, and hes complaining
His mad cows are being put to sleep
Im a Pisces fish and the river runs through my soul
Smoke signals from the brewery
Like someone in there found the latest Pope
In a vat of beer that keeps pumping out with fury
While the church bell ringers trangled in his rope
But theres a temple on an island
I think of all the Gods and what they feel
You can only find them in the deepest silence
Ive got to get off of this big wheel
Im a Pisces fish and the river runs through my soul
Im a Pisces fish and the river runs through my soul
And Ill be swimming until I can find those waters
Thats the one unbounded ocean of bliss
Thats flowing through your parents, sons and daughters
But still an easy thing for us to miss
Blades go skimming through the water
I hear the coxon shouting his instructions about
With this crew oh, it could be a tall order
Have we time to sort all these things out ?
Sometimes my life it feels like fiction
Some of the days its really quite serene
Im a living proof of all lifes contradictions
One halfs going where the other halfs just been
And Im a Pisces fish and the river runs through my soul
Im a Pisces fish and the river runs through my soul
Im a Pisces fish and the river runs through my soul

A River Flows

Where does the river flow
if not to you?

How deep its depths
if these
are not yours?

How broad is the river bank?

Broad enough
for the tug-boats
to push my heart along.

If there are fish in the river,
they sing your name
open-mouthed,
fish-style,
making tiny bubbles float
up, up to the river surface
where they pop
spread
announcing to the Firmament
that Love lives just below
the deep river flows.

Yes, you and I
are the river;
we flow,
run deep
down to that
ocean-mix
in which
our souls
swirl.

Mix me then
in depths deep.

Mix you then
amid this ocean sweep
and all else,
for me
becomes meaningless
so great
is our Soul Mixed
Ocean Bliss.

This Is What He Said...

here i am
stuck bathing on the same river
wading on the same
early morning water

thinking, thinking
exerting force without
moving

there is no distance
covered

on such a work that
is worthless

got the energy but there is
no place for me

here, here is an earth
without a tree

here, here is a river
without a ripple

there is a fish over there
the only fish i see

i see, i see, it is floating
it is bloating, it is dead.

The visit

Cousin Salud, this visit is brief
We would rather be concise about what we really want to say
But there is no way to be blunt
About our common miseries, your children not bearing any
Children while we too, have survived the years without
Knowing how a baby cries, how the diapers would have to be
Changed, how we blamed our past and forefathers about their mistakes their sins imputed to us
So we have our present state-of-affairs
Pasted on our skins and foreheads

I’ll take a bottle of beer in exchange for the joke
Of infertilities, how the egg and the sperm never meet
And how the uterus does not want any organism to sleep
On its bed, well we do not really mind
The misery that we think we have
It exists only in your mind
This visit will be brief and we would rather be concise
With what we really want to say
We are not miserable, we live the life of the sojourners
The palmers the pilgrims we travel a lot with nothing to carry
In our back, except this digital camera that clicks and clicks

You see, we always wear our smiling faces
Behind us are the shadows of green hills
On the side are the blue seas and coconut trees

If you can only see what is facing us
You will be glad
They are our friends cheering us telling us always
To smile and say Cheez!
