knowing myself again for the Nth time

i thought there will be
no more surprises again
living this life
for a long, long time
but there will always be
this

aha! aha!

serendipity acts like a
stranger
whom you meet in the
market
or was it in the church
after a prayer and you
keep on remembering
but you cannot remember
and then you finally ask

do i know you?

and then you go back to
yourself again
and say

i think i know you

and you continue walking
and working and praying

i still do not really know you

and you wonder and ask again

who are you?

the man in the mirror laughs at you
and declares

hey, i am you, don't you know me anymore?

and you nod.
now old, and weak,
it is you, after all these years
always inquisitive
and unsatisfied
and questioning

verily, it is you man,
man all the time
for all the seasons.

Takin Me Back

Youre takin me back
I remember it well
Youre takin me back
Its so easy to tell
Youre takin me back
I remember it well
Youre takin me back
A long, long, long time ago
A long, long, long, time ago
You, you let me down-you didnt think of me
I-i wont forget what you did to me-no
You were nice not to say it
Now my heart its breakin
Youre takin me back
I remember it well
Youre takin me back
A long, long, long time ago
A long, long, long, time ago
You, you thought that you- could make a fool of me
Dont dont be so sure that the fool was me- no
I held up I could take it
Now my heart its breakin
Youre takin me back
I remember it well
Youre takin me back
A long, long, long time ago
A long, long, long, time ago
A long time ago-a long time ago
A long time ago- you were breakin
My heart- I never found all the parts
A long time ago-a long time ago
A long time ago-oh-oh-oh
Youre takin me back
I remember it well
Youre takin me back
Its so easy to tell
Youre takin me back
Its written on my face
Youre takin me back
Its so easy to tell- cause youre

Takin me back
I remember it well
Youre takin me back

Stranger In Paradise

(john capek/amy sky)
The twilight falls on shadowed walls
The day dissolves into the point of no return
We cross the line with silent signs
The night seduces us of the possibilities
Can it be, that finally
Take me to the fantasies
Im a stranger in paradise
And its a long way to the ground
Im a stranger in paradise
Dont let, dont let me down
The moon escapes, and I awake
I lie and listen to the music of your breathing
I catch my breath, remembering
I have to touch you just to see if Im still dreaming
What remains when night has gone
Cover me in shades of dawn
Im a stranger in paradise
And its a long way to the ground
Im a stranger in paradise
Dont let, dont let me down
Can it be, finally
Take me to the fantasies
Im a stranger in paradise
And its a long way to the ground
Im a stranger in paradise
Dont let, dont let me down
Im a stranger in paradise
Dont let, dont let me down
Stranger, Im a stranger
Stranger, stranger, stranger

Maelstrom Of Memories

Walking down a street
where we lived many years ago,
the faces behind the doors
are not the same anymore.
As we walk, we look back
at a time that inherited our name.
Remembering the times there
in the maelstrom of memories
that come flooding back
to haunt us with faces
of that long ago.
Our head spins as we walk
stepping back into our yesterdays
with its happiness, sadness
and grief that came our way.
We stumble over things
we had forgotten long ago
as we are overtaken
in a maelstrom of memories.

I Can't Take This Anymore

I am numb
Why are you away?
I've got no one to turn to
How long am i to live like this?
I can't take this anymore.

Those words i said
Were just words
And yes they were meant to hurt you
But i'd take them all away now if i could.

Walking on this cobbled street
Alone.
Desperately crying.
Hoping that it's you i meet
I can't take this anymore.

Will you please come back to me
I'm screaming
Can you hear me?
I didn't mean those rotten words i said
I can't take this anymore.

Are you doing this to hurt me?
Cos babe it's working
I now know what you mean to me
It's love.
And i can't take this anymore.

A Worthless Life

Long gone the passing time,
Yesterday seemed so long.
Though in my pocket there is no dime,
My mouth would not wet without my tongue.

Indeed the brutality of my years,
Aiming aimlessly for what is my.
While my legs fickle with fears,
I would not run away in caves to hide.

Praying the same old prayer,
The lord is my shepherd.
Though in my mind I suffer,
And the countless God bless you I heared.

Lest in my life I shall never want,
Yet struggling hard as the elephant.
Whose strength is no match for the ant,
Though ends meet are naught but vainly hunt.

The cursed sun, hanging up like a blessing,
Scorching the very sweat out of my body.
And though the birds in the night they sing,
There feathers would never fall fast from there body.

Is this the principle of a worthless life?
Or just another day of many days.
Though the bees may hide in hives,
There aim is to continue there hay

Staring At My Face In The Mirror One Evening

for a long time that i stared
at my face in the mirror
one evening
when the church bell
went ringing

midnight, yes, that was
midnight

i saw my face as a skull
and i was not afraid anymore

i must have been dreaming
i am not sure anymore

was it my soul in the mirror?
i doubt it

it was so white.

Mirror (Depression)

I stare in to the miror.
A figure stares back at me.
The person I hardly regonise,
but I know that its me.

I think of how happy I once used to be.
It all seems so long ago now.
As if it were a life time ago.

Looking back I think why and how?
Where did it all go so wrong?
How the hell did it come to this?
To me wanting and attempting to die?

Staring at the mirror, starring into space.
I wonder what will become of me?
A corpse or a walking zombie?

Now I cant remember a time when I felt happy.
I never knew of a time when I felt so bright.

Forest of Wonders

In this forest of wonders
There is a girl walking alone
Walking straight with no direct destination
Questioning herself
Is there anyone out there
Is there anyone that would help her
She keeps on walking in this dark forest
There is no one
No one to call her back
No one want to remind her
No one would dare to speak with her
There, she keeps on walking
Wondering again
Is she alone
In this big forest
Is she alone
Finally she realize
There is no one
No one nearby to help her
No one dare to comfort her
To share her problems
She continue on walking until that FINAL DAY arrive.

Its Been A Long Long Time

Its been a long time...
Since I held you tight.
Its been a long time...
Everyday in this fight.
Its been a long...long...time.

Its been a long time...
Since I've had a kiss.
Its been a long time...
You're pretty blue eyes I miss.
Its been a long...long...time.

Its been a long time...
This Iraqi tour.
Its been a long time...
I miss you so and more.
Its been a long...long...time.

Its been a long time...
Hot days with freezing nights.
Its been a long time...
Sunburned face, mosquito bites.
Its been a long...long...time.

Its been a long time...
Had a real bad day.
Its been a long time...
Lost some soldiers today.
Its been a long...long...time.

Its been a long time...
I suffer everyday.
Its been a long time...
For me to be away.
Its been a long...long...time.

Its been a long time...
For me to be alone.
Its been a long time...
No talking on the telephone.
Its been a long...long...time.

Its been a long time...
Since you heard me say...
Baby, my sweet darling...
I'm leaving Iraq today!

Pictures Of You

I've been looking so long at these pictures of you that I almost believe that they are real
I have been living so long with my pictures of you that I almost believe that the pictures are all I can feel
Remembering you standing quiet in the rain as I ran to your heart to be near
And we kissed as the sky fell and holding you close
How I always held close in your fear
Remembering you were the song through the night
You were bigger and brighter and whiter than snow
Screaming at the make believe, screaming at the sky and you finally found all your courage to let it all go
Remembering you falling into my arms, crying for the death of your heart
It was stone white, so delicate, lost in the cold, you were always so lost in the dark
Remembering you, how you used to be, so proud you were angels, so much more than everything
Hope for the last time, it'd slip away quietly
open my eyes but I never see anything.
If I'd only I thought of the right words, I could have held on to your heart
If I'd only I thought of the right words, I wouldnt be breaking apart...
All my pictures of you
Looking so long at these pictures of you, I'd never hold onto your heart
Looking so long for the words to be true, but always just breaking apart.
My pictures of you
There is nothing in the world that I ever wanted more than to feel you deep in my heart
There was nothing in the world that I ever wanted more than to never feel breaking apart
All my pictures of you

I'll Remember You

It's funny how time slips away
On those long summer nights,
I had sat down at my balcony,
I had gazed at the stars,
I had cried all night,
I had cried tears` of 'Good -bye': But
I had to keep on going without your love
Living my life the way I choose to
Discovering the things that are left for me to do
Doing the things that I love
Let there be light
Don't give excuses
Don't wait for answers
Don't wait for tomorrow
Don't ask me why
No need to be angry anymore
No need to wait anymore
For this special day, special hour,
No need to fight, just follow him, because
The Lord has come to set you free
The Lord has come to take you home
A place with no more pain and sorrows
Where you will find comfort and peace
Maybe someday, you will meet me again
A time has come to say” Good-bye'
I'll remember you in my dreams
I'll remember you in my sleep
I'll remember you each day and every hour of the day
I'll remember you for all the good things you have done for me
I'll remember you for the special time we spent together.
I'll remember you in my prayers
I'll remember you for the kind of person you were
I'll remember you every night
I'll remember you for your special smiles and laughter
I'll remember you

Inday Badi

sometimes inday we meet
and we try to figure out what we really want to do with our lives
and we laugh
only to discover that we do not really know what to do
and so we keep on doing and doing anything
hoping to find something to do that may tell us

that this it.
but i must honestly tell you, i have never found it.

not with anybody. sometimes inday i just want to sleep
but i cannot
sometimes inday i just want to eat and eat but the food
does not taste anything anymore

i try praying, but i arrive at the meaningless mumble
and i am like a bumble bee just bumbling

i am trying poetry. and this is something that i always do now.
because it is like doing nothing at all.

it is just like playing mahjong. killing time because there is so much
time and at long last we have taken revenge

when time is not time anymore, but just a piece of a chunk
of the boredom that i eat everyday.

Walking On Air

(m gibb)
Ive been around the world
Youll never know just how long Ive been praying
To get you into my life
It wont be long before you understand
Even our love becomes a master plan, and so i
I think Im walking on air
So much in love I cant tell what Im saying
Therell be no running away
You and I wont be apart again
I know in my heart that we can start again
Wait for the summer
When loves in the air
You wont be sorry
You answered my prayer
I see the games that you play
And I dont care what the people are saying
No other love can compare
Just to hold you in my arms again
I feel like walking on air
And just to dream youll be there keeps me going
And all those days go by
We will never be apart again
Knowing our love will never die
Wait for the summer
When loves in the air
Well be together this time of the year
We will never be apart again
Knowing our love will never die
Here comes the summer
With love in the air
You wont be sorry
You answered my prayer
Here comes the summer
And everyones here
We will be sailin
Through year after year
You know Im walking on air
I know Im walking on air
You know Im walking on air

If Christ Came Questioning

If Christ came questioning His world to-day,
(If Christ came questioning,)
'What hast thou done to glorify thy God,
Since last My feet this lower earth plane trod?'
How could I answer Him; and in what way
One evidence of my allegiance bring;
If Christ came questioning.

If Christ came questioning, to me alone,
(If Christ came questioning,)
I could not point to any church or shrine
And say, 'I helped build up this house of Thine;
Behold the altar, and the corner stone';
I could not show one proof of such a thing;
If Christ came questioning.

If Christ came questioning, on His demand,
(If Christ came questioning,)
No pagan soul converted to His creed
Could I proclaim; or say, that word or deed
Of mine, had spread the faith in any land;
Or sent it forth, to fly on stronger wing;
If Christ came questioning.

If Christ came questioning the soul of me,
(If Christ came questioning,)
I could but answer, 'Lord, my little part
Has been to beat the metal of my heart,
Into the shape I thought most fit for Thee;
And at Thy feet, to cast the offering;
Shouldst Thou come questioning.

'From out the earth-fed furnaces of desire,
(Ere Thou cam'st questioning,)
This formless and unfinished gift I brought,
And on life's anvil flung it down, white hot:
A glowing thing, of selfishness and fire,
With blow on blow, I made the anvil ring;
(Ere Thou cam'st questioning).

'The hammer, Self-Control, beat hard on it;
(Ere Thou cam'st questioning,)
And with each blow, rose fiery sparks of pain;
I bear their scars, on body, soul, and brain.
Long, long I toiled; and yet, dear Lord, unfit,
And all unworthy, is the heart I bring,
To meet Thy questioning.'

Whats Done is Done

A while back
A traumatic event took place
A father went beyond his limits
And a little girls life was changed forever
He was taken away
Never allowed to return again
As seven years pass he sits alone
Far away from his children
He cries and cries
Praying to get them back
its been so long
Its time to move on
Its time to stop living in the past
What happened is done and over
And nothing can change that
Whats done is done

Live life to the fullest

Remember when you were little?
It seems so long ago.
There were a lot of big changes it seemed.
Like your first christmas, first birthday, first everything.
Then you learned to walk and talk
And finally went to school for the first time.
It seemed to take forever just to turn 13,
To finally become a teenager.
Just a few short years later,
Guess what, you turn 16.
Now you have more freedom,
and a brand new car.
A couple of years later,
You graduate high school and turn 18.
Finally it is time to say your goodbyes.
To leave your parents house and go to college.
Now you have graduated college,
And have a full time job.
Maybe you have even started a family.
So where did all those years go?
Just live your life and try not to grow up too fast.

Time Has Come

Long for the sailor, beneath the skies
Long for the white dove, no matter where she flies
Long for the stranger you know so well.
Pray for the soldier, whos wounded bad
Pray for the dreamer, hes still so sad
Pray for the stranger you know so well.
Cause Im coming home.
Now the time has come
For me to come back home.
Long for the eagle, on wings so strong
Long for the hunter, he wont be long
Long for the stranger you know so well.

On Accidentally Meeting A Lady Now No More

When last we parted, thou wert young and fair--
How beautiful let fond remembrance say!
Alas! since then old Time has stol'n away
Nigh forty years, leaving my temples bare:--
So hath it perished, like a thing of air,
That dream of love and youth:--we now are gray;
Yet still remembering youth's enchanted way,
Though time has changed my look, and blanched my hair,
Though I remember one sad hour with pain,
And never thought, long as I yet might live,
And parted long, to hear that voice again;--
I can a sad, but cordial greeting, give,
And for thy welfare breathe as warm a prayer,
Lady, as when I loved thee young and fair!

Too Old To Work And Too Young To Die

That time catches up on us all is surely not a lie
He is too old to work and he is too young to die
On retirement pension and quite bored with life
He spends much of his time arguing with his wife
On their fortieth year of marriage and love between them long dead
With a son and daughter and seven grandchildren and old age ahead
Since the warm feelings of love in their life has gone cold
They have nothing to look forward to but growing old
He and his wife in their mid to late sixties and their best years long gone
And only the will to live keeps them living on
Years ago they used to walk hand in hand to the park off of the street
But nowadays out walking them one never does meet
On his own in the pub he sits and drinks his beer
Looking rather unhappy and lacking in cheer.
