Inshallah Alhamdulilah

Lina, what is the color of the light when
you first saw it in the border
between the north and the south?

was the crescent moon more beautiful
when it was full?

tell me, am i in darkness? am i both blind
and deaf? and those of the centuries, are they
muted by the layers of
stony truths?

what stone shall i kiss now? what sandy soil is left for me?
what sun shall i face?
what time shall i bow before the earth and tell it
that i am
another man?

did i ask the right question that Tony
answered before?
You have not met Tony
He has a square jaw
and he carries no puzzle of the jigsaw.

To all these things Lina
i will claim no knowledge
I will not doubt what to do with my long hair
I will not ask you to tell me where must i go.

I rely upon no other voice
But mine alone and no one hears it
The way i utter
my own words to the sea.

The world is noisy, It is not only that. It is too crowded.
I am part of it
in the crowd, but i am not listening anymore.

Back to the basics.
God made the trees.
The sea. The air has always been free.

Upon leaving arvisu house

the last message of Tony was this:
you have finally seen the light

we who remain here are still
groping in darkness

it is hard to understand what Tony
really meant by that

years passed,15 years more
Tony became a Jesuit Priest

then we met in Zamboanga and
we talked we avoided this thing

about light, we have nothing to
say about it, he said 'You are fat'

i have nothing to say much
i hid the light inside my fists

Tony is correct in this world where
we live, it is a big circle and he

hints about something, it is light
there is no visible end and there

is no visible beginning we only
inhabit we fail always to explain

From a confined perspective

I am eager to agree
with the great poet Lina Spies
that what we know, we comprehend and say about God
comes from a human perspective

of which the range is confined
and all things on this planet is God’s property
the sparrows, dogs, cats loved by me
also belongs to Him

and in His created paradise everything was perfect,
maybe on the new earth
things will also be like that
and let believe who wants to

that the heaven is only for people,
I choose to disagree.

Ps. I do not say this out of a dogmatic perspective
but God himself turns love into meaning.

No One To Run With

By betts and prestia
(c) 1994 sony music entertainment, inc.
Everybody wants to know where jimmy has gone
He left town, I doubt if hes coming back home
Well tony got a job, three kids and a lovely wife
Working at the commerce bank for the rest of his life
[chorus]
Nobody left to run with anymore
Nobody left to do the crazy things we used to do before
Nobody left to run with anymore
Im gonna hit the road, adios my friend
Go someplace and start all over again
Dont know where Im going, like a gypsy out on the road
Ill go someplace and join a traveling show
[chorus]
Nobody left to run with anymore
Nobody wants to do the crazy things we used to do before
Nobody left to run with anymore
Nobody left to run with anymore
Nobody left to run with anymore
I think jimmy must have had the right idea
Packed his stuff and he got right out of here
I dont know where hes at but Im sure that hes ok
Now I realize what jimmy was trying to say
[chorus]
Nobody left to run with anymore
Nobody wants to do the crazy things we used to do before
Nobody left to run with anymore
Nobody left to run with anymore
Nobody left to run with anymore

The Metaphor Of The Mirror And The Light

there is this face
in the mirror and it is talking to the body
to remind its skin
that it is real,

lights are turned off
and the face only hears a voice
from its mouth
it is assured still that it is a face
of someone it knew
so well
and will not deny it

the voice faded in darkness
and the face
hears nothing
and sees nothing about
its skin
and eyes

it is dark
and there is no voice anymore
except the
silence
and the loneliness that is about
to make a scream
to the mirror
that had long shut itself
because there is no light

the face demands a voice
the mirror begs for light
for the voice is a security
that life exists
and the light is the only
anchor of the mirror
when it becomes a boat
in the sea
of emptiness

but there is no light
and there is no voice
the mirror breaks the silence
the face becomes the wind
there is no boat
much less an anchor

there is only a word written
on paper
left on the floor
and it is spoken for no
one....

A Question About Religion....

to pass the time
we talk, i have nowhere to go
this self is not taking me
anywhere
i am not well dressed
i am a shadow of my mind
it is my mind that
is becoming my own body
my body is but
an afterthought
of a flash,
you do not talk much
you are surprised
you doubt about what is happening to me
i cannot explain
you do not want me to explain
it is obvious
each part of me is disappearing
my ears are dissolving in air
i have become smaller
when you stare at me
perhaps this is what happens
when shame
makes a decision
i do not feel any roundness of this earth
the space has become
another meaningless
edge of my
existence

i want to explain it now that
you start to speak
'what the hell is happening to you? '
you ask
feeling the roughness of my hair
'this cannot be true'

i nod my head and shrink
like some ice on the floor
and then
as you cannot see me anymore
you left
this refusal to believe
that things like these can happen to someone like me

i use to ask ' Was i God? '
it is this blasphemy that
meted the penalty

'Issa, Issa, are you preaching now
that it was not really what you intended? '

it is not too late yet,
it was the fake one
that spy that
was hanged
and died.

Lina, please leave the documents
on my table.
I cannot yet
find myself
just like the way you have not
forgiven yourself
once victim, now
the offender

This Friendly World

R.E.M., Andy, Tony---This Friendly World
ANDY: Hi, Michael.
MICHAEL: Hi, Andy. Thanks for joining us. Do you
wanna ... you wanna sing a song together?
ANDY: Sure! Is it a sweet song?
MICHAEL: Yeah, it's real sweet.
ANDY: O.K.!
[They laugh.]
MICHAEL:
In this friendly, friendly world
With each day so full of joy
Why should any heart be lonely?
ANDY: My turn!
In this friendly, friendly world
With each night so full of dreams
Why should any heart be afraid?
The world is ...
MICHAEL ANDY:
... such a wonderful place
To wander through
When you've got someone you love
MICHAEL:
To wander along with you
ANDY: O.K., now take every second word! With ...
MICHAEL: ... the ...
ANDY: ... sky ...
MICHAEL: ... so ...
ANDY: ... full ...
MICHAEL: ... of ...
ANDY: ... stars
MICHAEL: And ...
ANDY: ... the ...
MICHAEL: ... river ...
ANDY: ... so ...
MICHAEL: ... full ...
ANDY: ... of ...
MICHAEL: ... song, Every ...
ANDY: ... heart ...
MICHAEL: ... should ...
ANDY: ... be ...
MICHAEL: ... so ...
ANDY: ... thankful
It's a friendly world! Don't you think so, Michael?
MICHAEL: Yup!
TONY: Oh yeah?! What's so friendly about it?!!
This is Tony Clifton, and, and I demand a part in
this song! I'm just as big a part of the movie as
these guys are! And, and I will not sit back while
some sought-after Colonel Kurtz wanna-be, uh, uh
has his day in the sun! I think he's enough
boring! I think, um, uh-uh, Michael here should, uh
sit this one out! At least the next verse, or so!
ANDY: Is that O.K., Michael?
MICHAEL: O.K.
ANDY: I don't think you have a choice.
MICHAEL: (laughs) O.K.
TONY:
The world is such a wonderful place
Ha! to wander a-through!
Ah, when you've got someone you luh-huuuv
Ah, to wander along, ah, with yooo-hoooooo!
O.K., you go...
MICHAEL: With the sky so full of stars
ANDY: And the river so full of song
MICHAEL: Welcome back, Andy. Every heart should be ...
MICHAEL ANDY: ... so thankful
ANDY: Thankful for this friendly, friendly world
Thank you, Michael!
MICHAEL: Thanks, Andy!
ANDY: Thank you all for this friendly, friendly world!
TONY: Thanks for nothing! K, where's the girls?
They in a chopper? The guy's got a chopper, right?

Man - A Macrocosm Of Nature's Intelligence

this hair
on its own
is no life

this stone
solitary
on the floor
is no life

the air on
the wind
is no life

let it steal
into the man
and the plant

a whole world
starts to churn

and soil with
the stone too
start becoming life

into the plant
into the man

the sun on
its own is no life

take him out
everything
stops to glow

the tree, man and
sun, stone....

this hair
on its own
is dead

throw in the man
throw in the plant
and the air
and the sun
and the stone

everything
starts
to grow

nature seeps,
breathes
through each
and everything

jigsaw puzzle

the man himself
a macrocosm
of its intelligence

Keep Searching

In the lust for knowledge,
I have lost myself within.
I have forgotten who I was
and what a family was for.
I drifted into a world
not letting anyone else in.
Now I want to break free,
but I have forgotten whom I was
and the knowledge that I had gained
could not help me now.
As I ventured back to reality
where no one knows me anymore.
For years, I lived within
the world of my own choosing
and lost the essence of being me.
Now I search for things that I left behind,
things that are not there anymore.
They have disappeared
like the whispers in time.
I am left abandoned
and my knowledge cannot help me.
Everything I strived for
doesn’t mean much anymore.
I have lost the most important things
that makes a life survive.
Humbly I reach out,
but sadly, there is no one there.
I will keep searching for it
and see what tomorrow brings.

Blind Bartimeus

Blind Bartimeus at the gates
Of Jericho in darkness waits;
He hears the crowd;--he hears a breath
Say, "It is Christ of Nazareth!"
And calls, in tones of agony,

The thronging multitudes increase;
Blind Bartimeus, hold thy peace!
But still, above the noisy crowd,
The beggar's cry is shrill and loud;
Until they say, "He calleth thee!"

Then saith the Christ, as silent stands
The crowd, "What wilt thou at my hands?"
And he replies, "O give me light!
Rabbi, restore the blind man's sight.
And Jesus answers, '(GREEK)'
(GREEK)!

Ye that have eyes, yet cannot see,
In darkness and in misery,
Recall those mighty Voices Three,
(GREEK)!
(GREEK)!
(GREEK)!

Copacabana

Her name was Lola, she was a showgirl
with yellow feathers in her hair and a dress cut down to there
she would merengue and do the cha-cha
and while she tried to be a star
Tony always tended bar
across the crowded floor, they worked from 8 til 4
they were young and they had each other
who could ask for more?
CHORUS:
At the copa (CO!) Copacabana (Copacabana)
the hottest spot north of Havana (here)
at the copa (CO!) Copacabana
music and passion were always in fashion
At the copa.... they fell in love
His name was Rico
he wore a diamond
he was escorted to his chair, he saw Lola dancing there
and when she finished, he called her over
but Rico went a bit too far
Tony sailed across the bar
and then the punches flew and chairs were smashed in two
there was blood and a single gun shot
but just who shot who?
REPEAT CHORUS
At the copa... she lost her love
Her name is Lola, she was a showgirl,
but that was 30 years ago, when they used to have a show
now it's a disco, but not for Lola,
still in dress she used to wear,
faded feathers in her hair
she sits there so refined, and drinks herself half-blind
she lost her youth and she lost her Tony
now she's lost her mind
REPEAT CHORUS
At the copa... don't fall in love
don't fall in love

Not Like Any Other Color

This is no joke
This is no egg-yoke
Black is not like any other color
Black has its unique beauty
Its own charm and splendor
It is the color of the reality
It is the absence of the sun
It is the exile of the moon
Black is the last color
That we will see before crossing the border.

Black can be positive
Or negative
Depending on someone’s perception
Interest or observation
Because of ignorance
And lack of experience
Many neophytes unfortunately use that color
As a scapegoat, as a traitor
Who can stab in the groin or in the back
Charcoal is black, coffee is black.

At times, it may not be apparent
Black is beautiful and different
It is the color of the night
It is the absence of light
It is the last color
That we will see before crossing the border
Where no color exists afterwards
Where there are no sounds, no words
No opinions, no aroma and no prejudice
There live absolute serenity and peace.

Question

I don't have the answer

So why ask me, why?

Why do you ask me a question

When there is no reply?

As though the answer was this?

Did you know all along?

That so much space

Is weighed down in white silence

Who told you these things?

These imagined replies?

To the unanswered question

The question why?

There is no reply

But bad weather

Rough roads

There is no reply

Leave the rain alone

There is no reply

No reply

No answer to why

Leave the question alone

No face in the sky

No key to the door

No there is nothing, but nothing

So leave nothing alone

And turn round and go home

Watch the sea from your window

The waves rise and fall

Nothing but madness

And nothing at all! !

The moon's silver crescent

No time to recall

What is left

What is deaf

What is blind

To ritual?

To sign?

There's no pattern no season

No face in the wall

No reason too reasonable

To make no sense at all!

There is no reply

To pain

Love lost

To prayer

Why ask me these questions?

When there's no answer there?

Tony The Race Car Driver

His name is Tony, but I call him Tone,
he has a D.J. business to play your songs,
while you dance all night long.
Now I met him one night on New Year's Eve,
I was dancing on a table and did not see,
Tony sitting below me at the bar,
he smiled at me then gave me his business card.
Scorpio was the name of his D.J. business,
he also plays the drums, I do confess.
Now, he has one shy Persian cat,
she hides under the couch,
no one knows where's she's at.
Other than that, he watches football
Fan of the Pittsburg Stealers,
they lost over Wisc. last year, people where squealing.
Tony has a red corvette that I can't drive,
Tony goes real fast, thank God he's still alive.
Now Tony and his Uncle Lenny are really fun,
they always joking around with everyone.
Thanks Tone, I hope you get the girl,
and she colors your world.

Rely On Me

Writers: leo sayer & alan tarney
Rely on me
Devil take tomorrow
Take these blues away
Too much pain and sorrow
All our yesterdays
Theres a world a waiting
Where you reap just what you sow
No good contemplating
So come with me and watch it grow
Rely on me
Rely on me
Rely on me
I will set you free
Ill break down the walls and set you free
Moon is bright in my sky
Nightingale sings sweet sweet
Youre the song in my heart
Put your faith in me
Lets not cool the spirit
Waste each others time
Its my world I want you in it
Trust in me and what were sure to find
Rely on me
Rely on me
Rely on me
I will set you free
Ill break down the walls and set you free
Rely on me
Rely on me
Rely on me

Ask 16: Piece Back Together the Jigsaw of your Mind.

Piece back together the jigsaw of your mind.
You’ll be surprised at what’s left there to find.
Lost unfound, grounded in reality,
The truth wouldn’t mean so much to me.
As it does now since you set me free,
Free of my bondage to this realm

One last kiss before those lips i miss
An eternity and who knows more
What is it all for? What is it for?
Open up the doors and walk freely in this place.

Always looking back
Over your shoulder
Your only wasting time
Your asking me to kiss your skin,
Well baby, you kiss mine

May This

May this breathing part
stop working tonight,
when everyone will be
in their sleeping bed.
I'll leave in semi-darkness
this beautiful earth.
The moon in his vessel
will move gradually..
The stars with flickering
light won't notice from
very far, many light years away
a soul, has started its sojourn,
from that hateful, earthly
world, away far away...
Next morning will be
again full of golden
light, the trees will
dance with the air,
the rivers, streams
will be running towards
the seas and ocean...
Like them I may come
back with new robes,
new home but with
the same lot to sip
the drink of life,
until another journey comes!

Just A Question

how can the violence
of your kiss justify
the silence of the stone?

how can the stony silence
ever justify the
promise of a kiss?

how can a stone be a kiss?
and how can a kiss be another stone?

how can my silence be your stone?
and how can your kiss be so stony?

do we revolve in this pact we call love
only on the kiss and the stone?

no stone shall be left unturned
and no kiss shall deceive and kill

The Wizard of Clayton Close

He's steeped in the shadows of ivy and stone,
And time is the seed that the Wizard has sown,
Has sown for the magick of weaving the night
In a tapestry taken from burning delight.
Burning delight in the eyes of the mind he has
Stolen, to conjure insight for the blind, for the
Blind are the pebbles that litter his beach, while the
Tides of his mind set the blind out of reach.

The masonry wall is caught deep in the spell that he
Conjured forgotten, in some distant dell,
And if you should peer through the ivy and stone
There's a voice whispers... 'leave me, just leave me alone.
I've wandered with Ishtar, away from your eyes
From your spying and prying, away from your lies,
In the peril and terror that lonely men speak...
Seek not the undying, whatever you seek.'

But drawn to the shadows and drawn to the stone
I could leave him not ever, not leave him alone,
And turning one day to the light and the lace
He uncovered his forehead, uncovered his face.
I froze in the instant to question my mind for
The face spoke eternities, infinite time
And the stars held their place in the lips of the man
And the cheeks and the ears, and the eyes and the hand.

The wall crumbled inward as slowly I fell
Through his eyes to the stars, to the depths of his well,
And knowledge was mine as it never had been,
In my mind, misaligned, in the things that I'd seen.
But knowledge was danger, disaster and death
To the heart that would beat, to the mind, to the breath,
To the cheek of a girl or the smile of a man,
To the whisp' of the wind, to the shift of the sand.

And nothing exists in the nothing of me
But the stars and the sky, and the sand and the sea,
The light that was night and the dark of the day
As I drift in the tides of his vision away.
And look as I might for the eyes of his mind
I believe that the Wizard is totally blind,
That once in the depths of his well and his breath
We're imprisoned in freedom, the freedom from death.

If only the way was as clearly defined
In the world of the deaf and the dumb and the blind,
I'd crawl through the stars to the lids of his eyes
To the breadth of his world and the width of his lies.
For the comfort of woman and warmth of a man
I would give all the shift and the sift of the sand,
And not all the shadows of ivy and stone
Would lure me to walk in the winter alone.
