In My Solitude
read my footsteps
as i leave them all
to you
on the sands of
my desert
try reading again
how i feel
if at all to you
i don't matter
let the sea
erase everything

Following In Your Footsteps
(ian hunter/mick ronson)
Some folk leave courage,
Some folk leave you hope
Why am I out here hangin
Like a fool at the end o my rope
Some folk leave you wisdom,
Some folk leave you signs
You can never be sure
What went on before
Life is just a matter of time
Picture of you,
Clouding my view
Im following in your footsteps,
Tryin to make some sense of it all
Maybe its a sign of weakness,
But thats where my footsteps fall
Im following in your footsteps,
Tryin to hang on to your dreams
You never got what you wanted
So I never got what I need
Im following in your footsteps,
cos thats where the footsteps lead
Someone must have given me anger,
Someone must have given me hate
Or why would I stand here shakin,
When theres so many chances to take
Pictures of you,
Climb into view
Im following in your footsteps,
Tryin to make some sense of it all
Maybe its a sign of weakness,
But thats where my footsteps fall
Im following in your footsteps,
Watchin my children grow
Theyre following in my footsteps
Takin it on the road
Were following in your footsteps
cos thats where the footsteps go
Were following in your footsteps, yeah
cos thats where your footsteps go

Stifle not the reader
Reading is an art,
reading is a tool.
Those who think it dumb,
must be such a fool.
Reading is enjoyment,
reading is a blast.
Reading is a separate entity
from the future and the past.
Reading is done in present,
though written in a tense.
Reading is about life,
in surprise or suspense.
Reading is a place of joy,
full of hope and song,
Reading is a place I feel
that I truly do belong.
A trapdoor to a fantasy,
A world thought lost to us,
Reading is a place of wonder,
a place that we can trust.
Why read about reality,
when I can delve into magic.
Why stifle my own happiness,
with scenarios so tragic.
Stifle not the reader,
for it is their choice alone.
Reading is an outlet,
for hearts that turned to stone.
For Wanting To Write....
perhaps, because of this
i may end up
with a head cut, or
a body shredded like
cheese,
tired limbs like
burnt toast,
perhaps because of that
i may not reach
what destination is reserved by
the lines of my palms,
perhaps i may not even end at
all,
because here you are
reading these lines
and you will like them
not because they are as palatable
as exotic friend frogs
but because you have felt sorrow
and have the smell of pain
the sound of acidic rain
over your hair
now melting and before you notice it
you too have become bald
because of having known much
than what is permitted by all these lines
it is about us,
it is about our being part of this vast
nothingness
sands of the desert
light of the moon spreading on sands of the desert nights
hushing wind
taking all the possible directions

A Poem
i like to read your poem
and i like to say it is a poem
there is a difference
of course
between the two statements
i like to read
it is your poem but i may
after reading
that
saying that i am honest though
and can distinguish a poem
from one that is not a poem
that your poem is one that i only
like to read
and may
say that it is not your poem
but it is yours you are sure of that
but what i am saying is that
i am reading your poem
but i feel that it is not
a poem after all
i can say one when i read one
so i just say i like reading your poem
which could not really be a poem
not even prose
i just like it
but it is not anything about what
i feel i like it to be
a poem or prose
i am reading it, it isn't
like this one for instance
you know that
now.

Where Do We Go From Here
Life can be strange, somethings we forget
Or rearrange in time, lose the past
Tell me the truth, tell me how can I know
That this new love of ours, that its gonna last
I need your strength and I feel your worth
With you I feel protected from all harm
Where do we go from here its clear
You erase the fear in me, that keeps me alone
Where do we go from here I know
No matter what the road, your love will lead me home
Whats in a name, his life just a game
We color then erase (weve been erased), when we lose face
How many lives, tell me how many tries
Before we get it right (before we get it right), the truth is inside
I need your strength and I feel your worth
With you I feel protected from all harm
Where do we go from here its clear
You erase the fear in me, that keeps me alone
Where do we go from here I know
No matter what the road, your love will lead me home
When I never weak, so weak
To scared to speak
When I never low, so low
To tell me, you will never need
Where do we go from here its clear
You erase the fear in me, that keeps me alone
Where do we go from here I know
No matter what the road, your love will lead me home
No matter what the road, your love will lead me home

Forgetting You.....
the heavy rain cannot erase
the footsteps in the mud
the seasons cannot erase
the fossilized steps
in the heart that is made
of stone
if only what we had
were only found in the sands
of the shore
i cold have easily forgotten
you.....

I'm Not Like You
I sit here now,
Writing this poem.
You read it now,
No matter what’s goin.
Sometimes it’s rainy,
Sometimes it’s not.
You read this poem now,
Go do you the homework you forgot.
Life can be simple,
It can also be complicated.
Be when read this now,
Please don’t get frustrated.
Thanks for reading this,
You’re a cool person that much is true.
But to spend the time and read,
I’m probably not much like you.
Between The Lines
Verse 1:
Ive been searching
Ive been thinking
Ive been searching so long
What I am looking for
Ive been hearing love will hit you
But everybodys wrong
Cause I just happen to notice
That certain look in your eye
Chorus:
Im reading between the lines
I didnt need no neon signs
To notice baby
I never before had you on my mind
But now I really do
Verse 2:
Nothing major ever happened
But its the greatest feeling Ive ever had
Strong emotions all have left me
Just a tenderness inside my heart
Just happened to notice a knowing smile
Chorus
(now I really do)
Just happened, I noticed
That certain look in your eyes
Im reading between the lines
I didnt need no neon signs
To notice baby
I never before had you on my mind
Im reading between the lines
I didnt need, didnt need no neon
To notice baby
I never before, never before
I knew it, I knew it
Bridge:
Started dreamin about you baby
Now I know just what Im feeling
Can it be you are my baby?
Never gonna let you go
Oh it took so long to feel it
(so very long to feel it)
But it was worth the waiting baby
Never gonna-never gonna let you go
(read between, read between the lines)
Didnt need no neon signs
Oh it took so long to feel it
(so very long to feel it)
But it was worth the waiting baby
(read between, read between the lines)
Didnt need, didnt need, didnt need no neon
(notice baby)
(read between, read between the lines)
I didnt need no neon signs
I knew it, I knew it
(read between, read between the lines)
Between the lines
(read between, read between the lines)
Im reading between the lines....

I'll Be There For You
ll be there for you
You don't have to feel alone
Like a shadow by your side
I'll be with you right or wrong
You stumble and you fall
But you can always lean on me
I'll be there to see you through
I'll be there for you
I'll be there for you
When your dreams seem far away
Even in the darkest night
You can face the world unafraid
And if you close your eyes
You will feel me next to you
No matter what you're going through
I'll be there for you
Here today, here tomorrow
Through the joy, laughter and sorrow
You're in my heart with candid souls
If you could read my mind
You'd know ...
I'll be there for you
The one who comes to your rescue
I'm the one you'll never leave
I'll be there for you
No matter what you going through
I'll be there for you

To Be With You
Make me feel again
Slide across my skin again
Let me uncover you to rediscover you
And I will open up
If you promise to give in
On this perfect night
Let the two of us be one
We will be again another time
No matter what all the others say
Cause I would leave it all so far behind
Just to be with you today
So make me feel again
Feel your every breath again
Nevermind everyone
There's only me and you
We will be again another time
No matter what all the others say
Cause I would leave it all so far behind
Just to be with you today
Just to be with you today
Just to be with you today
Just to be with you
We will be again another time
No matter what all the others say
Cause I would leave it all so far behind
Just to be with you today
So we will be again another time
And I will do all I need to do
To leave the others all so far behind
Just so I can be
Just so I can be....
....With you

The Minds eye for M lady Allie
The beauty of the desert lands
Lies in the multi coloured sands
which vary with the light of day.
Only the nomad understands.
By night the dunes look black and grey
but alter when the moonbeams play
across the valleys and the peak.
Creating pictures which cannot stay.
The beauty that the nomads seek
is to the desert lands unique.
Invisible to western eyes
which view the barren sands as bleak.
The beauty of desert lies
in what the viewers mind supplies.

I Saw God Today.... For My Pal Smoky
I saw God today, on a mountain high,
As the wind blew through my hair.
I saw God today in the clear blue sky,
I felt small and humble there.
I saw God today, in the desert sands,
As the Joshua Trees reached for the sky.
I saw God today in the arid sands,
And heard the coyotes mournful cries.
I saw God today in the desert sun,
And in the desert willow bells.
I saw God today, just one on one,
In beautiful stones and ancient sea shells.
I saw God today and he saw me,
I could reach out and touch his face.
I saw God in that vast dry sea,
And now my soul is full of grace.
I saw God today, in the great Southwest,
God saw my heart, and I saw his.
I can't still the thunder in my chest,
You see, that's where heaven is.

Footsteps Like Pain
Over one hundred footsteps,
Taking over like pain
when they leave many footsteps,
Behind you they'll fade,
ever so gently
so, so, slowly
Kind of like how, when somebodys in pain,
The approach,
feels overwelming
So overwelming that,
you take so much
pride in hurt,
that you dont even realize
To give a care,
about anybody but yourself
Just like the footprints
It slowly fades
while its passing by,
you die inside
Feels like a long time when you discover
it's only been a few hours
you start to surmise
this thinking inside,
causes emotional pain
When you look back
where your footprints,
It will seem like,
it just happened
yesterday
Pain disintegrates quickly
but,
that's the point of Fading!
Footsteps
leave all kinds of imprints
some are unaltered
most effect in such,
a peculiar way
When you feel pain,
others may see it
and affect them,
badly
Or if you feel pain,
nobody may notice it,
but that pain,
is the kind that creates
slow fades
you may feel it at it's worst peak
Footprints and Pain!

High Stakes for Friend Thad
The sun scorched desert lies in wait.
Implacable but patiently
Its moving contours undulate
moving swiftly but silently.
There are no landmarks men can see
to know exactly where they are
On every side hostility
the desert’s not particular.
They have no way to navigate
across the ever changing sea
of endless dusty real estate
which alters imperceptibly.
The sunlit slopes and shadows change
more quickly than men think they can
The desert’s free to rearrange
the landscape and so baffle man
.
That he despairs surrenders to
the tactics that he cannot fight.
Then as so many travellers do
is lost forever to men’s sight.
Implacable hostility
the desert show the human race
and also its ability.
To erase men and leave no trace.
Though sometimes sun bleached bones appear
by constant friction polished clean
Then just as quickly disappear
almost as if they’d never been.
The sun scorched desert lies in wait
today as it has always done
For foolish men to challenge fate.
Though very seldom men have won.

Erase 'em All
Building the walls around it
Created self with nothing much
Without a cost to find it
Feeling avoid and losing touch
The borrowed taste his novelty
Could be a product of another's humility
Don't worry your loss wil be his gain
He wouldn't hesitate to turn his back on you
And it might be true
Erase 'em all - Don't worry boy
You gotta rise to fall befoer you know the motto
Erase 'em All - Don't worry boy
You gotta rise to fall before you know you gotta
Erase 'em all
The warning's out it's gonna come to an end and I
Hate to see him label me as a friend tonight
Never question my intentions without the right
Showing me another way to turn his back on you
And it might be you
Erase 'em All - Don't worry boy
You gotta rise to fall before you know the motto
Erase 'em All - Don't worry boy
You gotta rise to fall before you know you gotta
Erase 'em all, Erase 'em all, Erase 'am all,
Erase 'em all
Erase 'em all, Erase 'em all, Erase 'am all,
Erase 'em all
You wanna stay you'd better run
When I catch up you better have a gun
I'm so wound up from playin' dumb
This time it's real and real isn't fun
You never saw this side before
Don't test the water for what's in store
I drew the line and I learned a rule
What's good for me isn't good for you
Erase 'em all
Erase 'em All - Don't worry boy
You gotta rise to fall before you know the motto
Erase 'em All - Don't worry boy
You gotta rise to fall before you know you gotta
Erase 'em All - Don't worry boy
You gotta rise to fall before you know the motto
Erase 'em All - Don't worry boy
You gotta rise to fall before you know you gotta
Erase 'em all

Write Erase Write Erase
this is what happens to this poem
when you have nothing to write
tonight....write, erase, write, erase
you are waiting
for an inspiration that does not come
you keep on waiting and then something comes
you write it, you think about it, you read it and you find nothing
worth the letter you assign to it
then you erase it and you are honest enough to admit that there is nothing
beautiful
not even a purpose, and then you write the word again, you ponder, there is
nothing worth its existence
there is nothing to grow in that word chosen
you erase it again, you write it and then there is this space of thinking,
what is it? you ask. what is it really?
it is this denial.
this negation of
what you are
that keeps you writing.
you stand by the window. Look out
the road. You see a dog, and it is howling again
to the moon
and to the wrong tree
it is barking.

Here With Me
Maybe its too late but this feelin is runnin through my soul
I think I learned what love is but Im afraid I let it go
Maybe its too late, maybe youve already changed your mind
Turned lovin into leavin and Im on the outside
You cant take these words to bed with you and hold onto them at night
They cant erase the emptiness and make everything alright
But your laughter and your tenderness will never disappear
No matter where you are tonight a part of you is here with me
Here with me, I dont know where you are, all I know is I need you to be
Here with me, I know its not to late, to turn around and get it straight
Its not fate to have you here with me
I can hear your voice promising your love will never die
I can feel your golden skin on mine beneath the desert sky
So how can it be true, how can you just turn and let me go
Let the story of your life with mine forever go untold
I cant take these words to bed with me and hold onto them at night
They cant erase the emptiness and make everything alright
Cause your laughter and your tenderness will never disappear
No matter where you are tonight a part of you is here with me
Here with me, I dont know where you are, all I know is I need you to be
Here with me, I know its not too late, to turn around and get it straight
Its not fate to have you here with me
(solo)
Here with me, I dont know where you are, all I know is I need you to be
Here with me, I know its not to late, to turn around and get it straight
Its not fate to have you here with me
