For B...

so you have felt finally
that you are alone: your brother after he married
built a wall around his wife and
daughter

you can hear their exclusive laughter in the other room
and when the light there is finally turned-off
you can hear even the whispers of love
that you have not met
before

the hands of love
drive you away

you turn off too
the only light in your room
and the war within you begins

there is that regret that mocks you
there is the passing time that appears like those leaves
blown away by the last month's typhoon

you feel like a tree robbed of all those leaves
with some twigs bent
to the utmost you feel that pain
of being
uprooted

moments reversing themselves
like the back pages of the
book
with a vast topics
arranged alphabetically
which of course
you have no desire to
carefully read

you feel this horror of all horrors
loved ones
abandoning you
with their bags full of
clothes

those thicker walls that suck their conversations
like water siphoned by
a thick cloth
oh, how you detest each layer
of indifference

the whole night you never sleep
but for now
you are a little bit triumphant in this exhaustion
these eye bags
must posses a noble purpose
perhaps to educate you more
for the coming days
of more empty rooms
of chairs that accumulate dust
of carpets that accommodate more ticks
of those breakfasts
left untouched
on the table with unchanged covers

no more tears in this war
between you and your hidden self
as you wait
for the promise that soon
there will be a harmony
between loneliness and
survival
between the fingers of time
and the slippage
that you do not care to account
anymore

well, you assure yourself
'outside i still have my own secret garden
it is mine and mine alone
my brother's children cannot enter
now, his wife in truth
is not my sister
and what i must remember
truly
must only be my name
yes, i am',

you write it.

Fall Out

Fall out.
Fall in.
Fall out.
Fall in.
Fall out.
Fall in.
Goodnight, my love.
Goodbye, the feeling of leading you into my life.
I ran with the wind in my face, I was proud.
I flew with my father when I was allowed.
I felt like a hero when I was with you.
Those days I felt God,
They were far, they were few,
They were mine.
Goodnight, my babies.
Goodbye the memories of showing you, my pride and my joy.
You are the angels
a world spinning, full.
You are the reason I'll never need more.
I felt like a great man when I was with you.
Those days I felt, daughter,
They were far, they were few,
They were mine.
Fall out.
Fall in.
Fall out.
Fall in.
Goodnight, my friends.
Goodbye, the dreams that all danced their way into my life.
The horse of forever
We rode in our youth
We walked into heaven through hell in these boots
I feel a great love while I'm here in your arms.
You were all brothers
And fathers and sons,
You were mine.
Now I can finally see the light.
I can finally see you in the night.
Fall in.
Fall out.
Fall in.
Fall in.
I can finally see the light.
I can finally see you in the night.
I can finally see.
And I can finally see the light.
I can finally see you in this night.
Fall out.

I Ain't Got Time Anymore

Got no time to stop to speak to friends passing by
Got no strength to wipe away the tears from my eyes
I don't care what's going on
Only know she's gone
The sun don't shine anymore
And I don't feel fine anymore
She ain't mine anymore
No, I don't feel fine anymore
I Ain't got time anymore
Seems to be such sadness in each place I go
The people laugh and still I just wouldn't know
Never stop to see who's there
Once I used to care
But the sun don't shine anymore
I don't feel fine anymore
She ain't mine anymore
No, I don't feel fine anymore
I Ain't got time anymore
I can't get use to being left on my own
It takes up all the time just trying to be alone
Used to take an interest in the state of affairs
Now I only know how much I'm missing that girl
Hope the world will understand
I can't lend a hand
Cause she ain't mine anymore
I don't feel fine anymore
She ain't mine anymore
No, I don't feel fine anymore
Ain't got time anymore
She ain't mine anymore
I don't feel fine anymore
Ain't got time anymore
She ain't mine anymore
No, I don't feel fine anymore

You And I Both

Was it you who spoke the words that things would happen but not to me
Oh things are gonna happen naturally
And taking your advice I'm looking on the bright side
And balancing the whole thing
But often times those words get tangled up in lines
And the bright lights turn to night
Until the dawn it brings
Another day to sing about the magic that was you and me
Cause you and I both loved
What you and I spoke of
And others just read of
Others only read of the love that I love
See I'm all about them words
Over numbers, unencumbered numbered words
Hundreds of pages, pages, pages forwards
More words then I had ever heard and I feel so alive
Cause you and I both loved
What you and I spoke of
And others just read of
And if you could see me now oh love love
Now you and I, you and I
Not so little you and I anymore
And with this silence brings a moral story
more importantly evolving is the glory of a boy
Cause you and I both loved what you and I spoke of
and others just read of and if you could see me now
well I'm almost finally out of
and it's okay if you have to go away
just remember the telephones are working on both ways
but if I never never hear them ring
if nothing else I'll think the bells inside
have finally found you someone else and that's okay
cause I'll remember everything you sang
Cause you and I both loved what you and I spoke of
and others just read of and if you could see me now
well I'm almost finally out of words.

In His Hands

Driven conversations, even I can read
Wouldn't want to fake it, and I'm tired of this dream
Taking medications, in the back of the room
Driven conversations, he died in June.
See the stab wounds in his hands
See him dying in his room
He's dying in his room
He's dying in his room
Heading for me, heading this way
He is coming, I don't care
Wouldn't want to fake it, well I don't mind
Giving conversations to a friend of mine
Giving medications, in a lighted room
Wouldn't want to fake it, I know I should
See the stab wounds in his hands
You killed him, I don't care
Keep a promise, you would too
Keep a promise, even you
See the silence in his head
He is coming, I don't care
We're not gonna make it, well I don't mind
Wouldn't want to fake it, but I have this time
Giving conversations, to whom they don't know
Taking medications till my stomach's full.
See a famine in his head
See him coming at their heels
He loves you, give him a chance
I don't love him, I don't care
See him starving, give her hell
It is over, we don't care In His Room

How I Feel About You Brother

I may not often talk to you,
I may behav like I dont bother,
But do you really know how I feel,
How I feel about you brother?

I may ignore you sometimes,
And fight when we are together,
But have you given a thought to,
How I feel about you brother?

I now long to hear your voice,
And that monstrous laughter,
Do you know how I feel,
How I feel about you brother?

I suddenly wana hold you in my arms,
The way I am held by mother,
Have you ever realised how i feel,
How i feel about you brother?

I don't know if the extent of my love,
Will ever be known to you brother,
But I'l still feel the same way for you,
And love you forever, brother..

This Morning

Nothing left to feel
Nothing more to do
Nothing left to give
Nothing more in you
Nothing else to have or hold
Nothing left, but time to go
Time to go
Years go by
Didn't really say that much at all
And moments just fly
Didn't ever really touch at all
Weeks always run down
Didn't really get that close at all
And days, days fall out
Didn't ever really know at all
And then we're here in a room too clean and too bright
She stares at you for an hour
You stare into the light
For one last hour in the room
So mean and so white
I stare at her in this room as she stares into the night
Nothing left to feel
Nothing more to do
Nothing left to ask
Nothing more of you
Nothing else to share or show
Nothing left but time to go
In his eyes as we turn no eternity of life
In his eyes as we turn no infinity of why
In his eyes as we turn no beautiful goodbye
In his eyes as we turn...nothing but tears
In his eyes as we turn...nothing but tears
(spoken:) I couldn't understand too much of what was being said
In a matter of minutes
Peacefully so slow
I had to think to breathe
My heart burst
We moved in silence really slowly away from the world
As we drove a strange silence
That moment
Nothing will ever be the same
Nothing will ever be the same
Nothing will ever be the same
Days fall out
Weeks always run down
Moments just fly
Weeks go by
And then we're here
And then we're here in a room too clean and too bright
I stare at you for an hour
You stare into the light
For one last hour in the room so mean and so white
You stare at me in this room as I stare into the night
Nothing left to feel
Nothing more to do
Nothing more to take
Nothing more from you
Nothing else to need or know
There's nothing left at all...but time to go

The Book

Standing at the door, to your room, I lean against the frame,
I am frozen, I whisper your name.
The chair at the desk, where you always sat, to work
is in place, unmoved, in the dark.
I sigh, holding my breathe, I switch on the light
I say your name, adjust my eyes to the sight.
Everything is in its place, unmoved, just waiting
on your return, digital clock on desk blinking
in even rhythm, as time moves on,
unaware, uncaring that you are gone.
on the wall, family pictures of the past
moments in time, captured, held fast.
Afraid to break the silence, to enter the room, I wait
and for a moment I pretend you are just late,
that I will turn as I hear your footsteps on the stair
and see you standing, smiling, blue eyes full of care.
and then, that moment, that hope, has past
one heavy foot forward, I enter the room at last.
An inspiration, to me, to all of us, friends and family
you dealt with your illness, with strength and dignity,
I can still hear your laughter, your silly jokes,
remembering your love for books and gadgets.
reminiscing, I notice on your desk, a book
lying open, page marked, I move to have a look
As I read I start to smile, your last message,
the lyrics from Life of Brian, a circled passage
'Always look on the Bright side of Life'
for my children and my wife.

No Holding Back

(r. stewart, j. creagan, k. savigar)
A friend of mine called up said i finally had some luck
Could I have a minute of your time
I met a girl last night and try as I might
I cant get her off of my mind
She walked through the room and right then I knew
I finally found somebody for me
But to tell you the truth I dont know what to do
Should I go ahead or wait and see
I said give it all you got no holding back
Let a light in your soul
Aint it better to lose in love than to never love at all
Than to never love at all
Now Im the kind of guy whos normally quite shy
On romance I dont know a thing
But when she led me to the floor Id never danced before
Suddenly my feet had wings
I know that she wants me I want her too
But Im so confused I cant think straight
I feel so alive but on the other side
Should I go ahead or should I wait
I said give it all you got no holding back
Let a light in your soul
Aint it better to lose in love than to never love at all
Aint it better to lose in love than to never love at all
Than to never love at all
So when the music starts to flow from your hearts
Like the coming of an early spring
When the river starts to flow between you soul to soul
May no man ever come between
Die in her arms if she wants you to
Be thankful for each passing day
When your eyes collide let your spirits fly
And pray to God its here to stay
And I said give it all you got no holding back
Let a light in your soul
Aint it better to lose in love than to never love at all
Give it all you got no holding back
Let a light in your soul
Aint it better to lose in love than to never love at all
Than to never love at all
Than to never, never love at all
Aint it better to lose in love than never love at all

Crossing Boundaries

in fear and
suspicion i ask you to hold my hands
to slide your fingers unto
mine,

what do i feel? i feel nothing
if i scream
i hear nothing and you hear nothing

with all sadness
i have changed i have crossed boundaries

i have wings
and i flap and i toss myself like a stone to the sky
light as a thought
blithe as
a memory of my childhood

i am not myself
anymore
and you shall not know
me

a thin slice of time
a sharp cut of the moment
separates us

i shall not remember you
for i have changed

and you shall not have any figment of my
feel
for you have changed

two worlds apart
beyond sadness crossing the boundary
of remembering

i have no hands, my fingers
are empty rivers
there are no stones no banks.

A Little Note Of Her Life

she is my wife
she is not a little note of my life
she is occupying the full page
of my ads

for one thing
she keeps cutting all the leaves of the palms in my garden
and it is getting hot in here

when some of the bushes begins to flower
she cuts them all again
leaving my garden empty
except for the bleeding twigs of the tree
leaving the little life of others in misery

she is my wife
when she dies she will still be my wife
that little note of my life
my garden shall be full of flowers
my bushes shall bear more
and all the leaves of the palms in my garden
shall be green till the end of their
spans

opps don't take this against me
she is my wife
and she will always be my wife
a little note of my life

Actually, There Is Still No One There....

it is when all of you
had left
this room when i am finally alone
that i
feel what departure must be

departure is synonymous with
loneliness

when it begins stabbing your peace
distance is prolonged

it is light embracing finally
the tunnel of darkness

you hear a tinkering bell
from a saffron monk

you peep from a leak of this
structure

still, there is no one there.

Oh, Brother Of Mine IN LOVING MEMORY OF MILFORD BLACKWELL FEB. 18,1932- AUG. 23, 1995

What was his life but a vapor
A grain in the sands of time
A drop of dew in the morning
And a ray of lost sunshine
His love was deep as the ocean
It reached from the earth to the sky
He looked for the wings of an angel
And the land of "Sweet Bye and Bye"
Sometimes his pain was a puzzle
Sometimes his joy a rhyme
But his heart reached out and touched me
That wonderful brother of mine
I know that the cross was heavy
And the pain was hard to bear
But I always watched from the shadows
And you knew that I was there
Life is never a highway
But a mountainous road to climb
I'm glad I had you beside me
Oh. wonderful brother of mine
You were here for only a moment
Now you have slipped away
The stage of life's been traded
For one of earth and clay
I think of the days of childhood
When we played on meadow and Lea
All that is left is an echo
Your voice is calling to me
How many drops of water
Has gone down the river of time
But none will be more precious
Than ours- Oh, brother of mine
The twilight of life came creeping
Across the portals of time
And when the veil was lifted
Gone--that brother of mine
Gone like the mist of the morning
Or flowers at ending of day
The song of the bird has ended
And the music has faded away
If God would grant me the power
To turn back the pages of time
I'd turn them back one by one
"Til I found that brother of mine
Life's little day has ended
Your race on earth is run
So fold your hands my brother
And wait for the morning sun
Farewell, oh wonderful brother of mine
And may these words be read
By those who see the Epitaph
In stone above thy head
Epitaph transition
When life and death at twilight meet
All my days and years are spent
I shall pause beneath the sod
To resurrect -- And ornament

Rocking the Baby

I hear her rocking the baby--
Her room is next to mine--
And I fancy I feel the dimpled arms
That round her neck entwine,
As she rocks and rocks the baby,
In the room just next to mine.

I hear her rocking the baby
Each day when the twilight comes,
And I know there's a world of blessing and love
In the 'baby by' she hums.

I can see the restless fingers
Playing with 'mamma's rings,'
The sweet little smiling, pouting mouth
That to hers in kissing clings,
As she rocks and sings to the baby,
And dreams as she rocks and sings.

I hear her rocking the baby,
Slower and slower now,
And I hear she is leaving her good-night kiss
On its eyes, and cheek and brow.

From her rocking, rocking, rocking,
I wonder would she start
Could she know, through the wall between us,
She is rocking on a heart?
While my empty arms are aching
For a form they may not press,--
And my empty heart is breaking
In its desolate loneliness.

I list to the rocking, rocking,
In the room just next to mine,
And breathe a prayer in silence,
At a mother's broken shrine,
For the woman who rocks the baby
In the room just next to mine.

I Hear The Laughter

Writers: leo sayer & johnny vastano
Listning to the falling rain
Always seems to bring her back again
I can remember like it was yesterday
Sound of her voice, her look upon her face
Like children playing childrens games
We joked and laughed at evry passing day
Im so much older, things have changed
Ive realized that now its just too late
I hear the laughter echoin through my brain
I hear the laughter then Im alone again
I tried to forget her heaven knows
Seems theres no direction left to go
I can remember like it was yesterday
I hear the laughter then Im alone again
Im alone again, alone again
I wish that I could hold you now
I wish that I could turn this all around
Its just my foolish fantasy
But that wont bring your sweet love back to me
I hear the laughter, somebody called my name
I hear the laughter and I can feel the pain
I hear the laughter echoing through my brain
I hear the laughter then Im alone again
I hear the laughter, I hear the laughter

Summer Nights

Oh, how I hate these hot summer nights,
When a good night's sleep is far from sight.
Lying on my bed, I constantly toss and turn,
While the air around me continuously burns.

My window is slightly ajar to let in some air;
I wonder if I'd be slightly cooler downstairs.
I have rolled down my blanket and my sheet,
But despite doing all this, I still feel the heat.

I watch the clock and the time ticks on by,
But, I just can't sleep, however hard I try.
Feeling restless in the middle of the night,
I climb out of bed and switch on the light.

Feeling so far away from the Land Of Nod,
I sit reading a book and then I play my iPod.
I'm having a bad night, and am not impressed:
I didn't sleep much last night, and need my rest.

As the night draws on, slightly cooler air arrives,
But, by this time, the clock has just struck five.
I hear the little birds singing out at dawn,
And it is only then that I give a big yawn.

My eyelids feel heavy and begin to close,
And, after sleepless hours, I begin to doze.
Finally, I fall asleep: inside my soul feels calm,
But a short time later, I'm woken by the alarm.

By now, my room is flooded by brilliant sunlight;
But I want to stay in bed, with my eyes shut tight.
I feel like I'm almost dead, rather than refreshed;
I certainly don't feel anywhere near my very best.

I don't have much energy: I've no get up and go,
And when I do get up, my movements are slow.
I wish that the temperature at night would dip,
Then I could finally get some much needed kip.

They're Not Here, They're Not Coming

(don henley/stan lynch)
From the arizona desert
To the salisbury plain
Lights on the horizon
Patterns on the grain
Anxious eyes turned upward
Clutching souvenirs
Carrying our highest hopes and our darkest fears
They swear there was an accident back in '47
Little man with a great big head
Splattered down from heaven
Government conspiracy; cover-ups and lies
Hidden in the desert under endless skies
Well, it's a cold, cold, cold, cold, cold, cold, cold, cold
Post, postmodern world
No time for heroes, no place for good guys
No room for rocky the flying squirrel
They're not here, they're not coming
Not in a million years
Turn your weary eyes back homeward
Stop your trembling, dry your tears
You may see the heavens flashing
You may hear the cosmos humming
But i promise you, my brother
They're not here, they're not coming
Would they pile into the saucer
Find orlando's rat and hug it?
Go screaming through the universe
Just to get mcnuggets?
Well, i don't think so, i don't think so
It's much too dangerous, it's much too strange
Here in a world that won't give oprah no home on the range
Well, it's a cold, cold, cold, cold, cold, cold, cold, cold
Post, postmodern world
No authenticity, no sign of soul
The radio won't play george and merle
They're not here, they're not coming
Not in a million years
'til we put away our hatred
'til we lay aside our fears
You may see the heavens flashing
You may hear the cosmos humming
But i promise you, my sister
They're not here, they're not coming
To this garden we were given
And always took for granted
It's like my daddy told me, you just bloom where you're planted.
Now you long to be delivered
From this world of pain and strife
That's a sorry substitution for a spiritual life
(solo)
Well, it's a cold, cold, cold, cold, cold, cold, cold, cold
Post, postmodern world
No place for sentiment, no room for romance
Bring back the duke of earl
They're not here, they're not coming
Not in a million years
Turn your hopes back homeward
Hold your children, dry their tears
You may see the heavens flashing
You may hear the cosmos humming
But i promise you, my brother
They're not here, they're not coming
They're not here, they're not coming
Not in a million years
'til we put away our hatred
And lay aside our fears
You may see the heavens flashing

All You Want

I'd like to watch you sleep at night
to hear you breathe by my side
And though sleep leaves me behind
there's nowhere I'd rather be
And now our bed is oh so cold
my hands feel empty
no one to hold
I can sleep what side I want
It's not the same with you gone
Oh if you'd come home
I'll let you know that
All you want
Is right here in this room
All you need
Is sitting here with you
All you want

It's been three years
One night apart
but in that night you tore my heart
If only you had slept alone
If those seeds had not been sown

Oh you could come home and you would know that
All you want
Is right here in this room
All you need
Is sitting here with you
All you want

I hear your key turning in the door
I won't be hearing that sound anymore
And you and your sin
can leave the way you just came in
send my regards to her

I hope you've found that
All you want
Is right there in that room
All you need
Is sitting there with you
All you want

I'd like to watch you sleep at night
to hear you breathe by my side
