Farther And Farther Away

i am lost.
please find me.

i am like the tennis ball that you throw away
from the comfort of your strong hands
into the darkness of the night

tomorrow morning
before the sun rises with a new promise
dusk shall find me

your hands shall turn to ash and i shall be the rain
to wash you away.

farther farther to the river and to the sea to the sunless horizon.
my heart is ready for this calamity of forgetting.
with air as balm, i shall be gone.

Feelin Down Farther

Tom johnston
Well, the sun is shinin
A new day is here
All the people smilin
And the sky is clear
Not an hour wasted will I share with you
Got to keep lovin, mama
No matter what I do
Ooh, ooh, ooh
I got to tell you
Feelin down farther
Feelin farther down
Feelin down farther, baby
Feelin farther down
Feelin down farther
Feelin farther down
Feelin down farther, baby
Feelin farther down
Jesus, hear me
When I sing out loud
The echoes of my gladness
Fall upon the crowd
I dont care for sadness
And I dont need fear
I hope they finally realize
That the feelin is near
Ooh, ooh, ooh
I got to tell you
Feelin down farther
Feelin farther down
Feelin down farther, baby
Feelin farther down
Feelin down farther
Feelin farther down
Feelin down farther, baby
Feelin farther down
Givin and receivin
Are all I know
Some of you will find it
And youll probbly let it show
Only one thing that I know to be true
Every day is different, mama
And so are you
Ooh, ooh, ooh
I got to tell you
Feelin down farther
Feelin farther down
Feelin down farther, baby
Feelin farther down
Feelin down farther
Feelin farther down
Feelin down farther, baby
Feelin farther down
Feelin down farther

This Is A Poem I Wrote At Night, Before The Dawn

This is a poem I wrote before I died and was reborn:
- After the years of the apples ripening and the eagles
soaring,
After the festival here the small flowers gleamed like the
first stars,
And the horses cantered and romped away like the
experience of skill; mastered and serene
Power, grasped and governed by reins, lightly held by
knowing hands.

The horses had cantered away, far enough away
So that I saw the horses' heads farther and farther away
And saw that they had reached the black horizon on the
dusk of day
And were or seemed black thunderheads, massy and
ominous waves in the doomed sky:
And it was then, for the first time, then that I said as I
must always say
All through living death of night:
It is always darkness before delight!
The long night is always the beginning of the vivid blossom of day.

Shipwrecked In The Eighties

Well you fight like the devil to just keep your head above water
Chained to whatever you got that you can't throw away
And you're shootin' through space on this river of life that you're ridin'
And it's whirling and sucking you deeper on down every day
So you turn to your trusty old partner to share some old feelings
And you find to your shock that your faithful companion is gone
And the truth slowly dawns that you're lost and alone in deep water
And you don't even know how much longer there is to go on
[ harmonica ]
Like an old Holy Bible you clung to through so many seasons
With the rules of survival in words you could still understand
When they prove something wrong you believed in so long you go crazy
And you're so close to folding the cards that you hold in your hand
Singing Holy Toledo I can't see the light anymore
All those horizon that I used to guide me are gone
And the darkness is driving me farther away from the shore
Throw me a rhyme or a reason to try to go on

Foreign Lands

Up into the cherry tree
Who should climb but little me?
I held the trunk with both my hands
And looked abroad in foreign lands.

I saw the next door garden lie,
Adorned with flowers, before my eye,
And many pleasant places more
That I had never seen before.

I saw the dimpling river pass
And be the sky's blue looking-glass;
The dusty roads go up and down
With people tramping in to town.

If I could find a higher tree
Farther and farther I should see,
To where the grown-up river slips
Into the sea among the ships,

To where the road on either hand
Lead onward into fairy land,
Where all the children dine at five,
And all the playthings come alive.

Father

Beat me down, one more time
Words of love, hard to find
Gotta find my mother, she wont lie
Where the hells my father
Farther, farther
You like to lie
Swimming in the water
One last time
Imagination cross my mind
I beat the bush, I beat the bush
Shove me down
Where the hells my father
Farther, farther
You like to lie
Father, old man, can you find me
Father, old man, do you care
Father, old man, can you find me
Do you care
Father
You like to lie

A Description Of Sunrise

the day is over
we clap our hands

in the dark we remember
those deeds of the night

dusk comes with a surprise
on to what is next

the sun rises again
we clap our hands again

hoping that this brand new day
shall give us progress and even eternity

oh, the cycle is here again
another man of the sun loses face to the moon

in the dark we seek shelter to the night
we sleep and dream

tomorrow as the sun rises
we shall have learned: this is nothing but a vicious cycle

we then go to our own affairs
not minding whether it is morning or evening

the faces of the days
do not matter anymore.

Love In The Right Hands

Released on cd single reason to believe, 1993
(s. climie, b. burnette, d. morgan)
Been hurt before, lost many wars
And you realize the danger youre in
You given your heart to make a new start
Youre taking a chance youll get hurt again
Dont be afraid, it dont have to be that way
Remember, that, love, love in the right hands
Is like sunlight burning through in the morning sky
I said, love, love in the right hands
Is such a powerful thing so put your hands in mine
Ill be there for you, Ill help you get through
When the pressures of this will surround you
You know it will rain but ( ) from the pain
Youll find shelter in my arms around you
But dont be afraid, you gotta have faith in me
Remember, I said, love, love in the right hands
Is like sunlight burning through in the morning sky
I said, love, love in the right hands
Is such a powerful thing so put your hands in mine
And I will always try
I promise you Ill never let you down
Will ever make you cry inside my heart
Well always be together, Ill be true to you forever
All of my live
And I will always try
I promise you Ill never let you down
Will ever make you cry inside my heart
Well always be together, Ill be true to you forever
All of my live
Love in the right hands
Like sunlight burning through in the morning sky
I said, love, love in the right hands
Such a powerful thing so put your hands in mine
Love, love in the right hands
Like sunlight burning through in the morning sky
I said, love, love in the right hands
Is such a powerful thing so put your hands in mine

Never is she shut #never is she shut

You are my Sun.
You are now set.
You brought me dawn
Everyday at ten.
You sent me dusk
Everyday at five.
Weekend two days,
You left me in dark.

You shone on me for brief,
But heavily, brightly
And deeply with warmth.
That referred warmth
Spread all the night.
I felt the shine of my Sun,
Off the dusk, at full night.
My night is brightly lit.

Now my sun is set.
Where is my dawn?
Where is my dusk?
Where is the sunny day?
Where is my beauty?
Who will there be to lit
My night-full day?
And dreaded night?

You be a Moon, now on.
Waxing and waning,
Be always on horizon
So that there comes
Once a while a full-moon,
To imbue me with life.
My day-less night
Is lit with Moonlight.

You be my stars, farther.
You twinkle and twinkle
At me high from horizon!
With your news, beckon!
With your heart, command!
I am in the bath of starlight.
My night-full day is lit.

My sun, though, is set,
No dark is there at night.
She is there as Moon.
She is there as Stars.
Though she is set as Sun.
I’m now a nocturnal.
She can never be set
Out of my heart and soul.

Angel By Your Side

I don't know how it got to this very point,
But i know i'll always be there to care.
I can't say that every thing is ok,
Because i can see the tears you're crying.
I can't promise to take the pain away,
But you'll know that i won't stop trying.
When the road may seem so long,
I'll always hold you in comfort.
When you're down and out,
I'll be the strength you can't provide on your own.
I know that it feels you're running out of faith,
Because it's so hard to keep believing.
When the storm of life breaks out,
I will always be there to look out.
In the mist of all your worries and tribulations,
You'll always find me by your side.
You can lay your head on my shoulders,
When your heart is deeply in sorrow.
My ears will always be ready to listen,
When you need someone to talk to.
When ever your heart gasp for happiness,
You'll always find me there to show you one.
Even when the mountains seem so impossible to climb,
There you will find my back to climb on.
You'll always find my hands to hold,
When every where seem so cold.
In the darkest of your hours,
I'll always be the light to guild you.
When ever you find yourself in the middle of the sea,
I'll sail the world to find you.
I'll make a heart that never break,
When ever your heart aches.
You can pour your heart to me,
When ever you are in agony.
No matter how difficult it may be,
I'll always brighten your face with an angelic smile.
I'll be your guardian angel,
That will see you through the night.
When ever you feel defeated,
And you think you've lost the fight,
Just let me be your angel,
The angel by your side.

Conversation

He comes for conversation
I comfort him sometimes
Comfort and consultation
He knows thats what hell find
I bring him grapes and cheeses
He brings me songs to play
He sees me when he pleases
I see him in cafes
And I only say, hello
And turn away before his lady knows
How much I want to see him
She removes him, like a ring
To wash her hands
She only brings him out to show her friends
I want to free him
Secrets and sharing soda
Thats how our time began
Love is a story told to a friend
Its second hand
But Ill listen to his questions
Ill give my answers when theyre found
He says she keeps him guessing
But I know she keeps him down
She speaks in sorry sentences
Miraculous repentances
I dont believe her
Tomorrow he will come to me
And hell speak his sorrow endlessly and hell ask me why
Why cant I leave her?
He comes for conversation
I comfort him sometimes
Comfort and consultation
He knows thats what hell find

Meeting My Destiny

My god it's another panic.
The heart is racing.
The eyes begin to twitch.
I can't breath.
I'm so scared of what will happen to me.
A coward when I see the fall.
Here it comes.
Time to brace myself.
This will hurt, hurt, hurt.
The wound carved so deep.
I'm am a son so lost.
With no father to teach.
No guidance at all.
In everything golden.
Why do I feel so lost.
Like fire I burn.
Urn for my something better.
Where ever the heart leads.
Digging a hole so deep.
Ready to lay down go to sleep.
In the forever kind of dream.
I can still see my demons.
But their getting farther and farther off.
I beat them to the top.
Now I'm ready to take the leap and fall.
Plunge.
And everything starts to zoom.
See you all later.
Back to the bottom for me.
I ready to meet that destiny.

Yours Forever

Here we are in the grays of winter,
Here we are just me and you,
Hold my hand,
Lets face tomorrow,
Tomorrow still holds out its hands to you
This precious time we've only borrowed,
The autumn winds have blown on through,
A quiet thought will tell our story,
Tomorrow still holds out its hands to you
Yes tomorrow still holds out its hands to you
Here some wings,
There yours forever,
And heres some dreams,
That will come true,
Take these tears, to wash away your sorrows,
Tomorrow still holds out its hands to you,
Yes tomorrow still holds out its to you,
Yes tomorrow still holds out its hands to you

Who Can I Turn To

(bricusse / newley)
Who can I turn to
When nobody needs me?
My heart wants to know
And so I must go
Where destiny leads me
With no star to guide me
And no-one beside me
Ill go on my way
And after the day
The darkness will hide me
And maybe tomorrow
Ill find what Im after
Ill throw off my sorrow
Beg, steal or borrow
My share of laughter
With you I could learn to
With you on a new day
But who can I turn to if you turn away?
Oh, oh, yeah
With no star to guide me
And nobody beside me
Ill go on my way and after the day
The darkness will hide me
And maybe tomorrow
Im gonna find what Im after
Ill throw off my sorrow
Beg, steal or borrow
My share of laughter
With you I could learn to

Papa And His Son

small son
like a toy soccer ball
yellow and black spots
in the warm hold of
Papa the giant
to his mind
his hands are powerful
against the walls
and tall buildings
against the hot horizon
he laughs
at son who raises his hands
in total surrender
not afraid anymore
if ever he falls
Papa is the giant
his words are true
like walls and tall buildings
like strong hands
like laughter
like white teeth
like words of comfort
of horizon's assurance.

Elusive Dreams

Each day I search
for that elusive dream,
the one that is just out of reach.
The closer I get to it,
the farther it seems away.
Always it seems farther
than my arms can reach.
One day I hope to catch it,
but I’ve been saying that for years.
I’ve watched other people reach out
and their dreams are there,
but mine just seem
to be moving farther
and farther away from me.

To Be A Poet And Live In The Dark

it is easy for me to understand
why you live in the darkness of your poetry

time does not live there. There is no morning light
to mark the day, and darkness thrives
like a tunnel, without any hint that at the end
there is light.

you live there. You live there for a long, long time
and you shed off your eyes, and hands,
and eventually you lose the sense of a face.

you like it there. It is all emotions. Strong
as a river inside the cave. You may have
lost your eyes, but you have seen more.
You may have lost your hands, but you
are feeling and touching more.

It is the darkness that has provided
you the sense of eternity. There is no
time here. It is dead. And There is no
sense of remembering what had been
there before.

You flow in this darkness like a river
inside a tunnel. The only sound you hear
is the going. The journey with you.

Last Night He Finally Did It

he dreams about it
and last night he did it
he wore his boots
slipped from his big house
went out and took himself for a walk
farther away into the woods
alone
unafraid
it was so dark as the moon did not come out that night
too the stars
and he went his way out farther without light
only his coat and bare hands
no knife
defenseless as he is
he proceeded deep into the woods
not thinking about any direction
all he wanted was to know
what courage is
how is it to be alone without walls to protect him
without fences and guns and bullets
he missed this point
just to be a man
sans everything.

Were Ready

Im ready for more
The feelin now that Im beside you
Well open the door
Do anything that we decide to
And I know that theres something thats just out of sight
And I feel like Im finally seeing the light
Holdin on girl I know its right
I know its right
Were ready!
You and i
Well find a reason
To simplify a change of season
And I feel like its time we were off on our way
We can go so much farther than weve come today
Holdin on girl and come what may
Come what may
Were ready! cmon
We can find a way
Were ready now
Catchin a wave to ride on
Steady now
Headin where we decide on
And I know that theres something thats just out of sight
And I feel like were trying to do something right
Come on make it if we hold on tight
Hold on tight
Were ready! cmon were ready
Were ready
Were ready, 1...2...3...4...
We can find a way. were ready now, oooh were ready now.
