Dear Mama, A Poem From A Son In Chicago
dear mama,
today is your 78th birthday
i can't join you but i am sending a little money
for your party
do not forget to invite our tenants
feed them well
how can i ever forget your birthday?
i am very sorry
i may have quarelled with you
but deep in my heart
mama
i love you very much.
may all sons remember this
as i will always remember it
there is no mother who wishes harm to her children
like you mama
thank you for giving me life
thank you for all the good things
i love you mama
may you have more birthdays to come.
love,
dodong

I Remember

I remember I remember I remember mama and daddy most of all
I remember meadows and fields of golden wheat
I remember songbirds and sugar cane so sweet
I remember lots of things that often I recall
But I remember mama and daddy most of all
I remember gingerbread my mama used to bake
And I remember home made toys that daddy used to make
Yes I remember many things that often I recall
But I remember mama and daddy most of all
I remember mama and daddy most of all
And our little country home they filled with love
I remember mama and daddy most of all
And all the things they did to make life happier for us
Yes I remember lots of things that often I recall
But I remember mama and daddy most of all
I remember candy that daddy used to bring I remember songs my mama used to sing
Oh I remember many things that often I recall
But I remember mama and daddy most of all
I remember mama and daddy most of all
And how they taught us children right from wrong
I remember mama and daddy most of all
How they used to hope and pray they'd live to see us grown
Oh I remember many things that often I recall
But I remember mama and daddy most of all
I remember I remember I remember mama and daddy most of all most of all

A big heart for your birthday
A big heart for your birthday
By having you
I feel like
I am falling in love again
With tears I deliver you
To see that this world is so beautiful
Life for us will be uneasy
But I never feel sorry
To bring you here
Because you are my little knight
Who will guide me and your papa
Do not cry …. Please smile always for me
You are my son
And my little sun shines
Mama can’t make you a big party
But mama has a big heart for loving you
Not only on your anniversary
But until mama and papa will leave you
And waiting for you in heaven
You will be a wonderful and cute little boy
In our new heart
Happy anniversary, my dear son ….
(For my son who will have his birthday on January)
Mama Mama
I can feel the magic
Suddenly its all around
I can see it clearly
I can even hear the sound
Its all so new to me
Im not the same
If this is love
Then youre to blame
Mama mama when you look at me
I see love in your eyes
Mama mama softly sweet tender love in your eyes
You are all I live for
Maybe thats enough to say
And youre the one I wrote this song for
Everywhere and everyway
Its all so new to me
Im not the same
Its words I feel
But cant explain
Mama mama when you look at me
I see love in your eyes
Mama mama softly sweet tender love in your eyes
Mama mama, mama mama
I really love you
I really need you
Mama mama, mama mama
I really need you mama
I really love you mama

My Mama Didn't Raise No Punk
Let me say this...
My mama didn't raise no punk!
Not when she would slam dunk me,
Away from public view.
Or dared me not to do those things,
She told me to.
Or take my time!
Mama came from the old school.
And she didn't hesitate,
To strike fire to my behind.
Let me say this...
My mama didn't raise no punk!
She knew exactly what she was doing with me.
She raised me to become independent.
Not a chump.
I was raised to use my mind.
And defend my thoughts!
And any gift I got from mama,
Is was bought for me because it was earned!
Like those whippings for my backtalk.
My mama didn't have easy lessons taught.
None that I remember were for me quickly learned.
But over time I did.
Since I didn't like to sit...
On a burned butt after getting whipped!
Eventually they sunk in...
Those lessons.
Deep.
To stay.
If I was ever to become a punk...
It was going to be done mama's way.
With a tormenting whipping,
As she held me,
Screaming...
'I've got it, if you want it.
And you're going to get it good.
What's my name? '
Mama.
'What is it? '
Mama.
'And don't you forget it!
Who's your mama? '
You're my mama, mama!
'That's right!
And don't you forget it,
Not one bit.
Or I'll be back to give you more...
Of some of this.
Don't play with me, boy! '
Dedicated:
My Mother, Edna Pearl Roberts (Prudhomme) Pertillar
And my paternal Grandmother, Clara Louise Countryman Pertillar
'Thank you! '

Tell Mama
(carter/terrel/daniel)
You thought you had found a good girl
One to love you and give you the world
Now youve found that youve been misused
Talk to me Ill do what you choose
I want you to tell mama all about it
Tell mama what you need
Tell mama what you want
And Ill make everything all right
That girl you had didnt have much sense
She wasnt worth all the time that you spent
She had another man throw you out doors
Now the same man is wearing your clothes
I want you to tell mama all about it
Tell mama what you need
Tell mama what you want
And Ill make everything all right
She would embarass you anywhere
She let everybody know she didnt care
Give me a chance Im begging you
I just wanna take care of you
Come on and tell mama all about it
Tell mama what you need
Tell mama what you want
Tell mama just what you want right now
Come on and tell mama all about it
Tell mama what you need
Tell mama what you want
Tell mama just what you want right now

Look Mama
Honey, I think audreys a little mature for you
No I dont think shes mature I think shes nice
Hey mom when are we going
Look mama I love you
But you gotta let me live my life
Look mama I love you
But you gotta let me live my life
Dont wrap me up in cotton wool
You cant treat me like a fool
Anyway if I was, you gotta let me be one
Ok give me your advice
Its not my fault if I cant be wise
Show me a person who hasnt been done
Look mama I love you
But you gotta let me live my life
Look mama I love you
But you gotta let me live my life
Dont try to stick your rules on me
I wasnt born as a carbon copy
I came out of you
But dont think that you own me
I have my respect for you
I wont try to change the things you do
Give me a break
Let me learn it my way
You think you know more than me
Experience hasnt set you free
Look mama I love you
Look mama, look, look mama, look
Look mama I love you
Loom mama, look, look mama, look
I gotta make my own mistakes
Why cant you treat me like a friend
Look mama I love you
But you gotta let me live my life
Look mama I love you
But you gotta let me live my life
Look mama I love you
Look mama, look, look mama, look
Look mama, look

She Did It
(eric carmen)
I set to sea on a ship called emptiness
Cast away on the island of loneliness
Lookin for love
Ooh, and I was lookin for love
(you know)
I didnt think she could hear my s.o.s.
But she appeared like an angel of tenderness
Sent from above
Oh, she was bringing me love
Oh, mama, she did it
Woh mama, she did it, yeah
Ooh, she did it
Woh mama, she did it, yeah
Looking back, making love was meaningless
Till she touched me with her warmth
And a gentleness Id never known
Ooh, and she was guiding me home
(now I)
Now I see all the things in life I missed
Till she opened up my eyes to the limitless
Wonder of love
Oh, and now Im ready for love
Oh, mama, she did it
Woh mama, she did it, yeah
Ooh, she did it
Woh mama, she did it, yeah
I never knew what love was about
Till she came and stole away my heart
Now Im alive and I know it
And all I ever wanna do is show it
(oh yeah)
Oh, mama, she did it
Woh mama, she did it, yeah
Ooh, she did it
Woh mama, she did it, yeah

Mama
Orbison/melson/rush
Mama, just had to call, oh mama
Your baby boy just had his heart
Broken in two, she said were through
But to send her best to you.
Oh mama, Id like to run to you mama
Id come home today, leave right away
But things wont work that way
Gotta stay, and be a man
If I can, oh mama.
No mom, I dont know I called her tonight
No, not at home, yeah, youre probably right
Yes Ill take care of myself. no Ill be alright
Ill go to bed early tonight.
Oh mama, tell dad I think of him, mama
Hows uncle joe, my puppy go-go
Tell them hello, oh Id better go
But good gosh, I loved her so.
Oh mama, dont worry so much, darling mama
Now mama dont cry, just say goodbye
Cant have us both in tears well mom, you know me
Yes Ill always be your baby through all the years.

Always On The Run
My mama said
That your life is a gift
And my mama said
There's much weight you will lift
And my mama said
Leave those bad boys alone
And my mama said
Be home before the dawn
And my mama said
You can be rich or poor
But my mama said
You can be big or small
But I'm always on the run

Mama Laye
(myles goodwyn)
Published by slalom publishing co. - bmi
In a foreign land beneath a foreign sky
They speak of mama laye
They dont believe she died
The people raise their eyes
They said theyd sing a song
They ask the spirit world
Cause they know where shes gone
Shes never far away, mama laye, no
Shes never far away, mama laye, no, no no
They say she never sleeps
She never close her eyes
She speaks the magic tongue
Shes slowly hypnotized
Shes never far away, mama laye, no
Shes never far away, mama laye, no, no no
Shes never far away, mama laye, no
Shes never far away, mama laye, mama laye
They are as grains of sand
And then they are as one
They pray to mama laye
The father, mother, son
They say shes never far away, mama laye, no
Shes never far away, mama laye, no
Shes never far away, mama laye, no, no no
Shes never far away, mama laye, mama laye
Shes never far away, mama laye, no
Shes never far away, mama laye, no
Shes never far away, mama laye, no, no no

When You're Good To Mama
(Voiceover)
And now, Ladies and Gentlemen,
The keeper of the keys,
The countess of the clink
the mistress of murderers row,
Matron Mama Morton!
(Queen Latifah)
Ask any of the chickies in my pen
they'll tell you I'm the biggest mother hen.
I love them all and all of them love me
because the system works,
the system called reciprocity.
Got a little motto,
Always sees me through:
"When you're good to Mama, Mama's good to you."
Theres a lot of favours I'm prepared to do,
You do one for Mama, she'll do one for you.
They say that life is tit for tat,
and that's the way I live.
So I deserve a lot of tat
For what I've got to give.
Don't you know that this hand
washes that one too.
When you're good to Mama, Mama's good to you
If you want my gravy
Pepper my Ragu
Spice it up for mama
She'll get hot for you
When they pass that basket
Folks contribute too,
You put in for Mama,
She'll put out for you
The folks at top the ladder
are the ones the world adores
So boost me up my ladder, kid
and I'll boost you up yours
Lets all stroke together
Like the princeton crew
When your stroking Mama, Mama's stroking you
So whats the one conclusion
I could bring this number to -
When you're good to Mama, Mamas good to you

Mama Take
On the road
But I wont be gone too long
Babe, Im leavin you tomorrow
On my way
And you know you make me strong
Ill be thinking bout you
All night long
(chorus)
Mama take just a little bit
Mama take just a little bit
Mama take just a little bit from my heart
Mama shake just a little bit
Mama brake just a little bit
Mama take just a little bit from my heart
All alone
And, Im feelin down today
Wont let nothin come between us
Say the words
And the words are meant to say
Ill be thinkin about you everyday
Mama take just a little bit
Mama take just a little bit
Mama take just a little bit from my heart, oh, oh
Mama shake just a little bit
Mama brake just a little bit
Mama take just a little bit from my heart
From my heart
I believe that we belong beyond a doubt
If we have a change of heart
We can always change our mind
And I know well work it out
I can see that its the only way to go
Its the only chance I get
Its the only way youll know
That I love to love you
Mighty love
Gettin hard to find today
I believe in you forever
Say thhe words
And the words are meant to say
Ill be thinkin about you everyday

Happy Birthday Mama!
Sshhhh! Whisper your age mama!
Ooooh! Mom is aging.
The grey of your hair cant lie.
But your love's strong, mama
and still you smile!
Blow another candle mom
happy birthday mama.
Another year is here, mom
that you care for me as always.
Though am grown, you call me boy!
And soon you'll be a grandy.
Happy, Happy, Happy birthday
God favours me for your life,
and again you smile
ooooh! Happy birthday mom.

Almost In Love
Mama, I remember what you told me
You said you wait for love before you fall
But, mama, I am sorry, I guess its gonna be love after all
cause mama, when he holds me
The air is thick and sweet
He asked me if Id come tonight
And hold him in his sleep
Chorus:
And Im almost in love
I can feel myself fallin
Yes, Im almost in love
I can hear my heart fallin
cause Im almost in
Yes, Im almost in love
Mama, Ive grown into a woman
I been growing stronger and stronger day by day
Mama, you know about children
You raise them then theyll go away
Mama, when he holds me
He thrills me through and through
So dry your eyes and teach me how to say goodbye to you
Repeat chorus
Yes Im almost in love
I can feel myself fallin
Yes Im almost in love
I can hear my heart fallin
Yes Im almost in love
I can feel myself fallin
Yes Im almost in love
I can hear my heart fallin
cause Im almost
Yes, Im almost in love

Get On Mama's Wrong Side
Take opportunities to appreciate Mother Nature.
Hasn't 'she' encouraged your development?
And continues to nourish you throughout your life,
Wherever you went inspite of your questionable habits.
Like a doting mother would do,
No matter what it is you put her through.
She seems to be there.
Although sometimes changing,
Her caring mood.
Do 'mama' right.
And mama will always do right by you.
Get on mama's wrong side...
And mama will not soon let you forget it.
