Dear Diary

i am writing like i am talking to you dear diary
my true friend
mama and papa died a long time ago
and i am left with some wounds and scabs and
some injuries that refuse to hear about those
that must die and go away
today, i will tell you something but i will not write it
in your pages

i am happy because i do not think anymore
i am happier because i do not have to write anymore
i am happiest because now i live in my mind away from the

the cage of your pages, i have learned to live and fly away like a bird

His Call

That evening
I sat down to write
My very last mail
To him.

And while I was writing
I could feel
My aching heart
Throbbing so loud
I could hear
Every beat of it
Pulsating with pain.

And still I kept writing
My very last mail
To him.
Though my eyes
Felt blurred
With all the tears
That rushed asunder
Streaming through my cheeks
And yet I brushed them aside
And wrote
My very last mail to him.

And when I had done
All the writing
I took a long, last look
At that letter of mine
Re-reading every word of it
That I had written to him
With all my heart...

Those precious moments
Were so endearing to me
For I felt that
Once this mail goes
I won't be able to
Write to him anymore
No more of those
Diary mails of mine
I used to write to him
Everyday.

For I had made a Promise
Never to go back
To him.
And that promise I had made
To him and to myself
With all the pain
And the agony
That had shrouded me.

Yes - that promise has stayed Intact
And I would abide by it.
And I haven't faltered...
Though my tender heart feels
So very Bruised.

And even though
The other day
He called me up
And I heard
His broken voice
Over the phone
Saying that
He had read my mail
Explaining himself
How he was...
How very dear to him
I have been
How very close
To his heart.

I just listened
And yet his garble of words
Were beyond me now
And more than his voice
His words of care
I could hear -
The waves of silence
That had engulfed me.

He did all the talking
And I -
All the listening...
And yet,
Today - when I look back
I don't feel like going back
To him anymore.

And I know he might call again
Asking me if I am cross.
In life's such delicate
Situations -
Being angry doesn't help
So why should I be?

It is just that
I don't feel like
Writing to him anymore
The pain is just too much
And so are the scars of the past
Like scabs on the skin
Bleeding every now and then.

And so that was my last mail
My very last mail to him
And his call for a truce
I had to choose...
Truce with him
Or truce with my silence.

And I looked back
At all the hard times
He had given me -
All the pain of the past years
That kept reverberating inside
Like the Tinnitus of being Deaf.

And I thought
I would call it a truce
A truce of realisation
A truce of acceptance
No - not with him.
But - A Lifetime's Truce
With me and my Destiny.

Autumn creeps stealthily like a serpent

My yoke fellow who talks about Fall and yellowing of the foliage.
He always carries his untidy diary and there are few blank pages left behind.
He wants me to scribble something on those torn pages.
I write; Hey! Chum you may call it Fall but I pronounce as Autumn.
Anyway this is the season between Summer and Winter.
My dear yardmaster, your yardstick is not enough to measure this lengthy journey.
Only the invisible who knows about the Unit?

Dedication to my poetess friend Sandra.Fowler who paints 'Autumn' in her poems attractively without any brush marks.

[ This notion pushed me today while I was jogging along the Manhattan beach.]

About Mama and Papa on Those Crucial Times...

the last day was crucial
it was excruciating,
i saw papa kicked mama
and mama fell down the
path
she was moving out from home
she could not take him anymore
everything was over
practically, , ,

the dogs barked
hating papa
they perhaps thought
he was a total stranger in
his own house
and they do not recognize
him as their
master anymore...

i walked away from home
on that crucial day
i did not want to know
what happened after

i heard papa died in
all pain

you told me that there was
that inevitable conclusion
that papa never loved mama
despite their five children
and 50 years...

i never believed you
i decided never to believe you
i believed that face in the mirror
half is papa's
the other half is mama's

how can there be two of them in me
if they never really loved each other?

they were sick and tired
those were the reasons
they forgot
that was the cause...

Whatevah

write
till it does not hurt anymore

write
till all the happy moments are consumed.

write
till all the aches are justified

write
till all your revenge is dissipated

write
till all angles are examined

write and keep on writing
till all of you is hidden, till all of you is folded back

write and keep on writing still
because you are your writer and there is no one who knows you well

except yourself, and what they know shall only be
skin deep

because you want it so,
you are the king in the jungle of your uncertainties
the Tarzan hitting his chest before Jane came and ruined it.

She Doesnt Live Here Anymore

We grew up together, weve been here forever.
Barefoot in the summer, cold in stormy weather.
She taught me all there is, like magic and love,
Lots of forgotten words
But now, she doesnt live here anymore.
Shes off and shes gone, she doesnt live here anymore.
Im sorry thats all there is to it, Im sorry thats all
She dressed just like a painter, a female street picasso
And i, I will remember the heaven in her laughter.
And the scent of her sweet perfume when we made love
Under an august moon
But now, she doesnt live here anymore.
Shes off and shes gone, she doesnt live here anymore.
Shes gone since long, so long, she doesnt live here anymore.
She took off and left home, she doesnt live here anymore.
Im sorry thats all there is to it, Im sorry thats all. thats all.

And when I'm writing, I write a lot anyway. I might write pages and pages of conversation between characters that don't necessarily end up in the book, or in the story I'm working on, because they're simply my way of getting to know the characters.

To be a writer

They say, when you have nothing to say
Do not say anything
They say when you have nothing good to say
Do not say anything
He is not convinced
He wants to be a writer and to be one he must write
What is in his mind
To be a writer he must write and write and write
Even when there is nothing to write
Even when there is nothing to say even when nobody listens
Even when the word is dead even when there is no sense at all
Even when he gets blind and deaf and mute even when his fingers are cut even when his mind is blank even when his consciousness is lost
Even when you are angry even when you say what is written is nothing
But trash, dung, cadaver, corpse, poo, pee, even when there is nothing
Anymore,
He writes because he is a writer and no one can stop him now.
he is
he is writing
he is writing always
he is writing always whatever that needs to be written

and here you are foolishly reading. thanks to you, audience of one.

Killer/papa Was A Rollin Stone

So you want to be free
To live your life the way you wanna be
Will you give if we cry
Will we live or will we die
Tainted hearts heal with time
Shoot bad love so we can
Stop the bleeding
Solitary brother,
Is there still a part of you that wants to live?
Solitary sister,
Is there still a part of you that wants to give?
Solitary brother,
Is there still a part of you that wants to live?
Solitary sister,
Is there still a part of you that wants to give?
If we try to live our lives
The way we wanna be
Solitary brother,
Is there still a part of you that wants to live?
Solitary sister,
Is there still a part of you that wants to give?
Solitary brother,
Is there still a part of you that wants to live?
Solitary sister,
Is there still a part of you that wants to give?
Racism in future kins can only lead to no good
And besides, all our sons and daughters already
Know how that feels
(adam tinley/henry samuel)
Was the third of september
That day Ill always remember, yes I will
cause that was the day that my daddy died
Never had a chance to see him, no
Never heard nothing but bad things about him
Mama, Im depending on you to tell me the truth
Mama just hung her head and said
Chorus
Papa was a rollin stone
Wherever he laid his hat was his home
And when he died
All he left us was alone
(repeat)
Hey, mama, is it true what they say
That papa never worked aday in his life
Some bad talk going around sayin
Papa had three outside children
And another wife
That aint right
Heard some talk about papa and his storefront
Preachin
Talkin about saving souls and all the time
Leachin
And dealing in dirt
Stealin in the name of the lord
But mama she just said
Chorus
Say I heard my papa was a jack of all trades
Is that what papa sent to an early grave?
Folks say papa would beg, borrow or steal just
To pay his bills
Hey, mama, folks say papa was never much in thinkin
Spent most of his time chasin women and drinkin
But mother, Im depending on you
To tell me the truth
But my mama she just said

Families

(hows the family)
(hows the family)
Mama, you tell me hows the family
And papa, tell me how things going by you
And little baby sister, I heard that you got married
And I heard that you had yourself a little baby girl, too
And heres some uncles and some cousins I know vaguely
And would you believe my old dog chelseas here, too
And would you believe nobody in this family
Wanted to keep her
And now that dogs more of a part of this family
Then I am, too
I dont come home much anymore
No-no-no I dont come home much anymore
Mama
And mama, I know how disappointed you are
And papa, I know that you feel the same way, too
And no-no-no-no-no I still havent got married
And no-no-no theres no grandson planned here for you
And by the way, daddy tell me hows the business
I understand that your stock shes growing very high
No, daddy, youre not a poor man anymore
And I hope youll realize that before you die
Because I dont come home much anymore
No-no-no-no-no I dont come home much no more
But daddy
And please-please-please-please-please
Come on lets not start this business again
I know how much you resent the life that I have
But one more time, I dont want the family business
Dont want to inherit it upon the day that you die
Really, daddy should have given it to my sister
You know elisabeth, you know elisabeth
She has a better head for those things than i
She lives practically around the corner
Thats really the kind of child you could be proud of
But papa, I know that this visits a mistake
Theres nothing here we have in common, except our name
And families that live out in the suburbs
Often make each other cry
And I dont think that Ill come home much anymore
No-no, I dont think Ill come home much again
Mama
Papa
Families
Often make each other cry
No, I dont think that Ill come home much anymore

Dear Diary

Dear diary, what a day its been.
Dear diary, its been just like a dream.
Woke up late. wasnt where I should have been.
For goodness sake whats happening to me.
Write lightly, yours truly, dear diary.
It was cold outside my door.
So many people by the score.
Rushing around so senselessly.
They dont notice theres people like me.
Write lightly, yours truly, dear diary.
They dont know what theyre playing.
Theyve no way of knowing what the game is.
Still they carry on doing what they can.
Outside me, yours truly, dear diary.
Its over. will tomorrow be the same?
I know that theyre really not to blame.
If they wernt so blind then surely theyd see.
Theres a much better way for them to be.
Inside me, yours truly, dear diary.
.
.
.
Somebody exploded an h-bomb today.
But it wasnt anyone I knew.

Lost Her

I still have so much work to do as I have to write an assignment today. Have not started writing it as yet. Feel so confused in my thoughts as every day is so depressing. Honestly, it hurts being me as yesterday I thought I had found a friend whom I was searching since so long but it was not to be as she just is not talking to me anymore. She appears to be online but when I say 'Hi' to her, she has started ignoring me. It hurts so much since nobody loves me and no friend I have.

Do Or Die

Today I saw my hero fall apart,
the one who taught me to be strong,
on the outside I look fine,
but on the inside I am dying
my strength has overcome my pain
my love for you remains the same
the loneliness is setting in
I have no one to free my sins
It's never too late to live your life,
the time is now, it's do or die
it's never too late to live your life,
the time is now, it's your to mine
Now it's my time to help you out,
coz you were there when I was down,
it's hard for me to seal this way
losing all your sanity
you helped me, keep my dreams alive ,
without you how would I survive
it's time for me to be a man
now I finally understand
It's never too late to live your life,
the time is now, it's do or die
it's never too late to live your life,
the time is now, it's your to mine
It's never too late to live your life,
the time is now, it's do or die
it's never too late to live your life,
the time is now, it's your to mine
I cant run anymore
I cant hide anymore
I cant run anymore
I cant hide anymore
Today I saw my hero fall apart,
the one who taught me to be strong,
on the outside I look fine,
but on the inside I am dying
It's never too late to live your life,
the time is now, it's do or die
it's never too late to live your life,

It's never too late to live your life,

it's never too late to live your life,
the time is now, it's your to mine
It's never too late to live your life,
the time is now, it's do or die
it's never too late to live your life,

What my mama utters in her deathbed

She is dying of diabetes, all her organs
Malfunctioning
On sugared complications,
Except some portions of her brain
Still asking questions,

Where is Leonora?
She is in the office mama still working
And where is Betty?
She is on your bedside mama and she is crying
Why? Is she sad? Did she pay her debts to the china man?
And where is Marcelino? Mama he is in Nigeria working
On a foreign ship and he has no way of coming,
his company is
Not allowing him to take his leave,
But his wife is here.
I don’t want her here

Who are you? Mama, I am Ric your son,
I am your favorite, don’t you
Remember me anymore?
Hold my hand; I am seeing some ghosts of your grandpa and grandma
And they hated me, hold my hand and hug me, I am cold, get me a blanket
And where is your papa? Mama, papa will be coming in a minute, but he
Is still drunk, but he loves you mama,

Who are you?
I do not know you; I was never a part of your dreams,
Leave me.

Mama, I am holding you, you are not cold you are warm,
Mama, just sleep

And she goes away just like that, sleeping on a travel, just like that,
And Betty cries,

Did she love her? Did he also love her?

when she died, some of us were there,
but i know she would have been happier left alone
to figure out
death herself

I Don't Want To Hear It Anymore (mono)

(randy newman)
In my neighbourhood
We don't live so good
The rooms are small
And the buildings made of wood
I hear the neighbours talking 'bout you and me
I guess i heard it all
'cause the talk is loud
And the walls are much too thin
He don't really love her
That's what i heard them say
He sure wasn't thinking of her today, oh no
(he wasn't thinking of her today)
I saw them in the front yard
Said the boy in room 149
He was talking to a girl i've never seen before
And standing there together, oh they looked so good
I don't want to hear it anymore
(i don't want to hear it)
I don't want to hear it anymore
(anymore)
'cause the talk just never ends
And the heartache soon begins
The talk is so loud
And the walls are much too thin
Ain't it sad, said the woman down the hall
That when a nice girl falls in love
Ain't it just too bad that she had to fall
For a boy who doesn't care for her at all?
(it's so sad)
I don't want to hear it anymore
(i don't want to hear it)
I just can't stand to hear it anymore
(anymore)
'cause the talk just never ends
And the heartache soon begins
The talk is so loud
And the walls are much too thin
I don't want to hear it anymore
(can't stand to hear it)
(don't want to hear it)
I just can't stand to hear it anymore
(don't talk about it)
(can't stand to hear it)
Oh, baby, baby
I just can't stand

'Cos I remember all the times I tried so hard
And you laughed in my face 'cos ya held all the cards.

'Cos all I want of you is just a let me be.

We Live Poems We Cannot Write

WE LIVE POEMS WE CANNOT WRITE

We live poems we cannot write-
Words of beauty that sometimes come suddenly
And disappear before we think to transcribe them-
Indescribable perceptions that move rapidly within us
And are gone before we can even be fully conscious of them-

We live poems we cannot write
Worlds of feeling there are no words for-

Our lives are pervaded by unwritten poetry
And our strongest Will and most determined Memory
cannot make pages of it all.

The Diary

one day you shall write about a ship
in the middle of the sea
on a dark night

one day you shall write about the man
who was there without any hint
about where he is
and where he is going

you will finish writing about it
and let it stay there
until you close the pages
and declare that this is what life is all about

one day you shall open it again
and write about the man who plunged into
the middle of the sea
to find the message of its depths

whatever happens close your diary for a while
wait until you feel the switch
inside the dark room of your heart
find the sea and find the right hour to plunge just as it was written

A Reminder for Myself...

erasing the past
is like burning the pages of your diary
the smoke hurts a while
but
soon you begin to write your own future
another page
another stroke of the pen
that sometimes we admire because it is nicer now
there will always be a difference
until you tear the pages again
crumple them
and let them go

sometimes i think
i need to make paper planes
or perhaps kites

and so i need some strings
some bamboo sticks
for bones
