Cutting The Edges And Smoothing The Rough Points
in making the chair
we choose the strong wood
and cut them to desired shapes and sizes
we were thinking of you
how you sit, how big have you been
after 16 years of speaking English in America
and you are coming back
with some surprises
and sentiments and we here who know more
about the real story are ready with
our explanations
it is like the way how we cut the edges and
smooth the rough points
so you may find comfort
finally in your own
home
we want to be exact down to the last detail
only if you are willing to listen
sit properly and
be enlightened.
we would like everything to be simplified
if needs be.

Coming Home
Ive not been home
For so many years
And I did not regret being gone
Please tell me when did we talk
And when did we show
That we do care for something called love
Oh no, dont you despair now
Im as grown up as can be
Cant you forget everything
And this time listen to me
Im coming home - home
Im coming home - why dont you help me
Im coming home - home
Im coming home - why dont you love me
Its time to remember
What weve done together
I guess it is more than we know
And we should be open
And turn back the wheels
As far as we can go
I know I am your son
And everything else dont seem real
I want you back like never before
I cant take another goodbye
Im coming home - home
Im coming home - please, cant you be there
Im coming home - home
Im coming home - please, dont you leave me
Whats dones done - Im your son
Ive been hurt by your lies
I want peace after all
Thats why I want you to let me come home
Im coming home - home
Im coming home - lets fight together
Im coming home - home
Im coming home - Ive so much to tell you
Home - Im coming home
Im coming home - time heals the scars of the past
Im coming home
Im coming home - to be by your side
Im coming home - Im coming home
Im coming home - Ive so much to tell you
Im coming home - Im coming home,............

There Wont Be Many Coming Home
(orbison/ dees)
Listen all you people
Try and understand
You may be a soldier
Woman, child or man
But there wont be many coming home
No, there wont be many coming home
Oh, there wont be many
Maybe ten out of twenty
But there wont be many coming home
Now the old folks will remember
On that dark and dismal day
How their hearts were choked with pride
As their children marched away
Now the glory is all gone
They are left alone
And there wont be many coming home
No, there wont be many coming home
Oh, there wont be many
Maybe five out of twenty
But there wont be many coming home
Look real closely at the soldier
Coming at you through the haze
He may be the younger brother who ran away
And before you kill another
Listen to what I say
Oh, there wont be many coming home
Oh, there wont be many coming home
Oh, there wont be many
There may not be any
But there wont be many coming home
If they all came back but one
He was still some mothers son
And there wont be many coming home
Oh, there wont be many coming home
Oh, there wont be many coming home
Oh, there wont be many coming home.......

Cozy
Yo, whassup baby?
Its me, r.l. the real
Yeah, I know you all heard about me
It aint even like that, boo
I aint livin like that
And I know you think I just want you to come over
So I can hit the skins
Nah, I just want you to lay back with me
Get real comfortable
Get real cozy
And just chill, till youre ready
1 - ready, set for the moet
Put on some next
Cuz were about to get real comfy
And cozy
Yo, t-low, tell em what Im trying to say
So whats on your mind
Girl, I can see it in your eyes
Youre thinking I wanna come inside
But thats not why youre here tonight
Girl, we can get it on
But we dont have to take our clothes off
Im not all about that boom-boom that zoom-zoom
I just wanna chill and maybe settle down
Repeat 1
Dont cha know its on tonight
2 - lord have mercy
Pour the hennessey
Come chill with me
And we can both be
Real comfy and cozy
Girl, lets get a little closer
Some dull conversation helps to
Resist the temptation
We can break out the lubrication
Im gonna rub your back where its safe, yeah yeah
Girl, you know that I respect you, yeah
And I can wait for the skins, its cool
Im just gee
To finally be here alone with you, oh
Repeat 1
You can feel right at home with me
Repeat 2
On the next album, watch me now
Making much smooth sailin tonight
Oh, we can just chill tonight, yeah
Do the thing that I wanna do
Is puff a little light
And being real high, baby
Nothing but smooth sailin tonight
Only thing that I wanna do is sip a little wine
Repeat 1
Can ya sway with some alehze' baby
Repeat 2
Repeat 1
Repeat 2
Repaet 1

B Movie
I found america hiding in the corner of my wallet
Its a well kept secret, thought that I had better swallow it
Before they make me spit out the truth
Before they find youre lying about your youth
B movie, thats all you are to me
Just a soft soap story
Dont want the woman to adore me
You cant stand it when it goes from real to reel
Too real too real
You cant stand it when I throw punch lines you can feel
All the time, theres a rule book in brittania
That no one ever waives
And everybodys on the make
Its not your heart I want to break
Turn out the lights
Im thinking that I want to go to sleep now
Just give me a promise that Im supposed to keep now
I dont want some fool asking me why
When I find youre finally making me cry

Hero's
Hero’s come in all shapes and sizes
Some of them are big surprises
Matters not just who they are
They come from near and some so far
Making our world a better place
To live our life in this humane race
Some don’t know just what they have done
But that hero lives inside every one
Now sit and think deep down inside
What’s gone passed in your life
The littlest thing that’s helped someone
Your their hero and now you one
Remember all our hero’s now
When at home or in your car
You can be sure one won’t be far

The Free Restless Spirit
there are people ahead of us
and who enjoy their own fame who like to teach us
how to make frames
that there are desired shapes of words
with their own colors and tones
and like light we ought to mix them
to their own
precise delight
when i was new i had always been clumsy
because i always want to think like them
each hour i command my hands to take their
own shapes of fingers
there are always desired sizes and colors and tones
and for years
i have lived in so much restraint that i finally discern
that i am not free
because i must live the way i ought to be like by them
too suffocating
like i am covering my head with
a helmet
so as not to harm myself
from their preconceived accidents
my voice thinned out and my hands
became moles
then too tired to take their commands
i escaped
into the mountains
and i learned the language of the birds and the trees
the songs of the wind and wilderness
my arms become rivers and my feet mountains
my hair the forest and my eyes the sun and moon
my breath is the wind
this is what freedom does
this is the fruit restlessness
this is the poem that you are reading now.

Only Time Can Tell
Just when you think something
has nothing more to give
it surprises you with a little bit more.
Forty-five years ago,
I wrote something at a fun fare
and it keeps coming back
with something exciting and new.
First, it became my best-loved poem
with over fifty-five people
making it one of their favourites.
Next, it was used in an English class
in a London college,
then it had a video make of it
and then incorporated into a symphony,
it was read out at a memorial service
for an American serviceman in Afghanistan.
Another surprise came when
it was translated into Russian
for a University in the Ukraine
and then yesterday I found
it had been turned into a country song,
which really made my day,
something I had always imagined it to be,
and the tune they used was similar
to what I envisaged when I wrote it
all those years ago.
I cannot even guess what more surprises
this piece holds in store,
only time can tell.

My Rough And Ready Lady
Such a strong woman you are
You play rough and tough
How you are very different
Somehow I can't get enough
My Rough And Ready Lady
You are strong and full of life
How you show me so much
Oddly I never met your type
My Rough And Ready Lady
You speak with much wisdom
Yet you continue on and prove
I feel so happy when near you
I have all to win never to lose
My Rough And Ready Lady
Your strength is overwhelming
Those eyes of deep royal blue
A best friend you are to me
And how I love being with you
My Rough And Ready Lady

The balloon in the tree
There high up in the tree
was a bright Red balloon
how did it get there I mused?
Was it put there by a little boy
or did the wind pluck it from his hand?
it was stuck firm on a branch now.
When I came by the tree the next day
I looked up and it was still there
and it wasn't the only balloon
there was a blue one and a yellow one?
The following day the tree was covered in them
all different colours and sizes and shapes
the wind and rain couldn't pop them dead.
Every day more balloons were there in the tree
all different colours, shapes, and sizes,
the wind and rain wouldn't hit them at all.
I was the only person who knew of the tree
it became invisible to anybody else
the balloon tree was there just for me.
When a balloon died another took it's place
so the tree was always covered in balloons
throughout the years it stood proud and strong.
You may say I'm making this up or I'm mad
and there's no such thing as a balloon tree
but I know it's true so that's all that matters.
This is for Chloe, Holly, Katie, and Oliver.

Take A Good Look At Our Home Land
Oh people of America, people of America
Take a good look at our homeland
Do you really understand
Before you finish reading this poem
Do you have a daughter or son
Young people are leaving their home at an early age
Yet, there is a need for someone to be saved
Take a good look at our homeland
Many people are playing in the same band
Along the eastern coast of our nation
What do you see in the making?
Oh America, America, America
Why not be a complete free nation
Do you see this in the making?
For many years our country has been blessed
Now someone inside is making a big mess
Why pick up guns and fight against each other
Why not love as sisters and brothers
Oh something is going wrong today
People are looking the other way
Our POW'S have been freed
Is there another war in the making like most people believe
At Wounded Knee, S.D. our brothers and sisters
Want a little more freedom
Can you see this in the making?
America, America God shared his grace on thee
Yes he shared his grace for you and me
I want you, you and you
To take a good look at our homeland
When you get back will you take a stand?
Maybe you are thinking about playing in the same band
The only thing i ask you and you to do
Love your sisters and brothers
The way God loves me and you

Coming Home
It's a long and lonely highway.
When you're traveling all alone.
I was on my way to nowhere.
But now i'm coming home.
I'm coming home.
I've been running through the fire.
I've been running for so long.
If i took it any higher.
Baby i would be still be gone.
But now i'm coming home, coming home.i'm coming home.
Coming home, coming home, i'm coming home.
Well my home was really never.
On a far and distant shore.
If i stayed away forever.
I could never miss you more.
And so i'm coming home, coming home.i'm coming home.
Coming home,coming home,i'm coming home.
I think of all these years gone by.
Never even wondered why.
I never touched the ground.
All the time that's come and gone.
All the nights i've been alone.
And now i'm homeward bound.
I heard the thunder over canaan.
And i've heard the angels cry.
And their voices came revealing
"as you live,so will you die."
I'm coming home,coming home,i'm coming home.
I'm coming home,coming home,i'm coming home.
Coming home, coming home, i'm coming home
I'm coming home
I'm coming home, coming home, coming home...

Realizations
it was not that long
ago when i want to give you
something smooth
as silk
or soft as a morning
glory petal
those which are
understandable and
clear
and acceptable
it is like a sculpture of
a chair
edges smooth
well defined
ends
or a baby with a smile
as real as
bow and arrow
but time makes us
strange
and make us pretend that
we understand everything
everything
there is something
that justifies our age
and that is when
we begin to accept the unreal
and embrace
the absurd as though they are
our genitals
they are here
and we become a part of them
without any
questions asked
and then we become as happy
as the breeze of the sea
early one morning
the reasons become accessories
and then finally
they are nothing but left-overs
that we feed
to the dogs unfed for days

This Years Girl
See her picture in a thousand places
cause shes this years girl.
You think you all own little pieces
Of this years girl.
Forget your fancy manners,
Forget your english grammar,
cause you dont really give a damn
About this years girl.
Still youre hoping that shes well spoken
cause shes this years girl.
You want her broken with her mouth wide open
cause shes this years girl.
Never knowing its a real attraction,
All these promises of satisfaction,
While shes being bored to distraction
Being this years girl.
Times running out. shes not happy with the cost.
Thered be no doubt, only shes forgotten
Much more than shes lost.
A bright spark might corner the market
In this years girl.
You see yourself rolling on the carpet
With this years girl.
Those disco synthesizers,
Those daily tranquilizers,
Those body building prizes,
Those bedroom alibis,
All this, but no surprises for this years girl.
All this, but no surprises for this years girl.
All this, but no surprises for this years girl.

Far
Weve been travelling far
Without a home
But not without a star
Free
Only want to be free
We huddle close
Hang on to a dream
On the boats and on the planes
Theyre coming to america
Never looking back again
Theyre coming to america
Home, dont it seem so far away
Oh, were travelling light today
In the eye of the storm
In the eye of the storm
Home, to a new and a shiny place
Make our bed, and well say grace
Freedoms light burning warm
Freedoms light burning warm
Everywhere around the world
Theyre coming to america
Every time that flags unfurled
Theyre coming to america
Got a dream to take them there
Theyre coming to america
Got a dream theyve come to share
Theyre coming to america
Theyre coming to america
Theyre coming to america
Theyre coming to america
Theyre coming to america
Today, today, today, today, today
My country tis of thee
(today)
Sweet land of liberty
(today)
Of thee I sing
(today)
Of thee I sing
(today)

Cities
(david byrne)think of london - small city
Dark - dark in the daytime
People sleep - sleep in the daytime
If they want to - if they want to
Im checkin em out
Im checkin em out
Ive got it figured out
Ive got it figured out
Theres some good points - some bad points
But it all works out - Im just a little freaked out
Find your city -
Find yourself a city to live in
I will find a city -
Find yourself a city to live in
A lot of bridges in birmingham
A lot of ghosts - and a lot of houses
Look over there - dry ice factory
Good place to get some thinking done
Im checkin em out
Im checkin em out
Ive got it figured out
Im the one who got it figured out
Theres some good points - some bad points
Find your city -
Find yourself a city to live in
I will find a city -
Find yourself a city to live in
Did I forget to mention -
Forget to mention memphish
Home of elvis and the ancient greeks
Do I smell - I smell home cooking
Its only the river - its only the river
Im checkin em out
Im checkin em out
Ive got it figured out
Ive got it figured out
Theres some good points - some bad points
Are those things real? denied!
Find your city -
Find yourself a city to live in
I will find a city -
Find yourself a city to live in
I will find a city -
Find yourself a city to live in
I will find a city
Find yourself a city to live in

A Chair Is No Longer Just A Chair
it is your experience that
gives you more meaning to all those which
you think
have been too common and
insignificant,
perhaps
now you must have realized as you sit upon a chair
that someone used to sit there
and that someone waited for another to be with her
that on the same chair
there were some fears
and pains and even longings
and hopes
unrealized and by then
you see that chair not just a chair
you sit there
and you ask it
for this chair though muted by wood
will always have
a story to tell....

My Fathers Chair
My fathers chair still standing there
All alone since the long night
Now its three years on and I still feel
Hell come home, well be alright
So wheres this healing time brings
I was told the pain would ease
But it still hurts like the first night
That night my brother, my mother and i
Were looking up at a distant star
And wishing we could reach that far
And back in the house
And alone for the first time
We told each other we cared
We avoided my fathers chair
I watch my family, we hold on
We are strong and well be alright
The clock continues counting down, all the while
And every child will share the long night
But do the spirits meet again
Why am I still so filled with doubt
Is my soul everlasting
And the far distant future
When I knew youd be gone
Came too fast and stays too long
Why do they leave the weak of spirit
And take the strong
When the world turns sour
And I get sick from the smell
And I cant find no comfort there
I climb into my fathers chair

Hello! hooray! let the show begin
Ive been ready
Hello! hooray! let the lights grow dim
Ive been ready
Ready as theis audience thats coming here to dream
Loving every second, every moment, every scream
Ive been waiting so long for this thing to come

Roll out! roll out your american dream and its rescuit
Ive been ready
Roll out! roll out your circus freaks and hula hoops
Ive been ready
Ready as theis audience thats coming here to dream
Loving every second, every moment, every scream
Ive been waiting so long for this thing to come
Yeah - Ive been thinking so long I was the only one
I can stand here strong and thin
I can laugh when this thing begins

Coming Home
All those nights Ive spent alone,
Uninspired, so tired and wasted.
Theres lots of times Id have telephoned,
I couldnt find the words to say,
Im coming home,
Lord Im coming home
Ill make it short,
Ill make it sweet,
Make it up to you and me.
Im not the same guy I used to be,
What can I do to make you believe,
Im coming home,
Oh Im coming home.
Im coming home,
Yeah Im coming home.
Only seems like yesterday,
You and I were sayin goodbye,
Now Im just a few miles away
Gonna see you tonight.
Ive been alone and I live the pain,
Reach for you in desperation.
I was wrong, Ill take the blame,
I need you back now I just cant wait,
Im coming home
Yeah Im coming home.
Coming home,
Im just coming, coming,
Waiting it out.
Im just coming home.
