Constancy.....

no matter what
it remains standing there
when tired
it sits sometimes when we are not watching
it deceives
and lies and mocks us when we are not looking
but what we must admire
and give credit
to this kind of thing
is its constancy
so that
when it rains or shines
it is always there
nothing moves it
and nothing defeats it
it is always there
and we applaud it
we put the boundaries
and mark the monument
of this
constancy
a sculpture of a body
with a face
like ours.

In the Spirit of Rumi-16

I said to My Beloved

How, my dearest one,
do you know those who truly love You?

My Beloved said

Not by their smiling face,
nor by their eagerness;
nor by the quickness of their response,
nor by the force and wealth of their response
pleasing though these are –

but by their stillness: as
a rose is still; or as a fine-proportioned vase is still;
or as a sunlit golden dome is still;
or as the bluest vault of heaven is still;

they have a stillness all about them; for
their hearts are ever at rest; there is no need
for their still heart to move; they are
always the same; they rest in love;
they meet you with all love,
they greet you with all love;
you cannot add to their true love,
you cannot take away from their true love;

and if you wish to test their love,
the test is constancy; there is no change in them;
they speak, they feel, they act, from constancy;
what is their substance? It is constancy;
I stand with them in constancy,
they stand with Me in constancy..

if that is not what you would ask of them in love,
then they are not for you; but they,
they are My true lovers, lovers of the truth in Me

-said My Beloved.

0006 The Constant Heart

The test is constancy –
the proof, the constant heart.

See that pair who walk across the park -
from the back, it’s difficult to see their age –
they walk as if there’s nowhere now to go;
for they’re so still, inside themselves; they’re joined
by that shared stillness. Now and then they glance
deep into each other’s eyes – seeing there,
a constancy. Their hearts – you see it – are at rest.

They can remember with an inner smile
how when they met, they put on every charm
to seek to catch each other for themselves;
now they dive, swim, laugh, at rest
within each other's still, warm constancy.
See them walk and laugh their way
across the park; across their life.

* * *

See now over there, the man who stands,
talking quietly, with observant eye;
a group of boys around him who
can think of nothing else but listening:
he’s still, he’s standing sure within himself.
He’s just too far away for you to hear the words he says;
and yet you know – he’s constant in himself,
he’s constant in all that he gives to them.
They’ve found a wise man, and they’re listening.

* * *

The test is constancy –
The proof, the constant heart.

The Constancy Of A Noble Purpose

how must i tell you again
it is not the intelligence but the
constancy of purpose
at first and then
you either do not listen when you
heard me clear or
you simply cannot accept it and
change
you believe always on intelligence
and so i watch you risk everything upon it
trying to explain every grain of sand
and there too many of them
and they invade your intelligence and
they bury it
then
finally killing you
suffocating you because the sands in their
constancy of purpose
never believe what intelligence
preaches and
bragged.

On A Night Trip On The Last Trip Of The Bus Bound For Zamboanga

i do not look for any reason
why i choose the last trip bound for zamboanga

it is not important
i take the pleasure of seeing nothing along the road

but the darkness and some street lights
some houses keeping the porch flickering

on some constancy
of having light and caution

against evil.
the rest of the few of the passengers here

are all asleep
tired of the day's business

whatever
i could not sleep thinking about this journey

like a bullet looking for its subject
like a tennis ball dissolving into a dark space

soundlessly, everything moves
inside my mind.

Introduction To Solution

Sung by the tramp:
While the rich get their kicks with their affluent antics
Mr. black sits and ponders their fate.
He just sits in the gloom of his dimly-lit room
Waiting for them to swallow the bait.
While the rich run their rackets he sits in his attic
And casually clocks their defeat.
While the politicians cover up mistakes that theyve made
And all the promises, the lies and deceits.
A military coup has been long overdue.
Now theres fighting and panic in the streets.
Amid the mass disillusion, disorder and confusion,
He will rise now his plan is complete.
But me, Im only standing here
Watching it all go on and Im watching it all go wrong
And its painfully clear that the battle is near
And I wish I could just disappear.
While flash and his men drink champagne in their den
And debase life with crude ostentation,
The poor cry for more, but theyre reaching the point
Where the people cant stand any more.
But me, Im only standing here
Watching it all go on, and Im watching it all go wrong
And its painfully clear that the battle is near
And I wish I could just disappear.

William Shakespeare

Sonnet 105

Let not my love be called idolatry,
Nor my beloved as an idol show,
Since all alike my songs and praises be
To one, of one, still such, and ever so.
Kind is my love to-day, to-morrow kind,
Still constant in a wondrous excellence;
Therefore my verse to constancy confined,
One thing expressing, leaves out difference.
Fair, kind, and true, is all my argument,
Fair, kind, and true, varying to other words;
And in this change is my invention spent,
Three themes in one, which wondrous scope affords.
Fair, kind, and true, have often lived alone,
Which three till now, never kept seat in one.

The Fisherman

He sits by the shore
all day long casting his bait
line after line
into the lake fishing
hoping for that bite
the kind that makes his day
but nothing comes
he sits there alone
only thoughts for company
what goes through his head
while he sits there
watching cold eyed
the open lake before him
is he at peace
or making plans
who could say
he just sits there alone
watching

Remembering Carl Sandburg - The Fog

The fog descends
in the wee hours of dawn
like a sacred thing

moves slowly to the ground
the way mom would pour milk
from a half frozen can

in the newspaper plant
the reel has just started running

the words go so fast
they are the process of thought
reenacted on papers

millions and millions of information
precipitated to get to the right one

not all news are accurate as
we would love them to be

the fog plays with them before
the sun shines through it

what remains after are little
lovely jewels on leaves
and - our eye lashes
to help us weigh the day

Fog

The fog comes
on little cat feet.

It sits looking
over harbor and city
on silent haunches
and then moves on.

Style.

It is only the constancy of
Emotions. Highs and Downs, These things you must
accept with gladness
Like the birth of a Smile.
Hug a reality. Dance with an Illusion.
Settle on a Doubt.
Believe on the Impossible.
Have faith on Yourself and Always take
the Big Bite of the Dust.
Life Moves On. You dance as though it is your last.
You say I am Alone but I am Lovely.
Let the Spirit Soar. Let the color of the Day be Red.
Make Love Not War. Gosh. Gush. Hush. Slush
and Slash.
Give way to the River. Have vents. Bend
and Sway and Point your Feet
To Somewhere. Over there.
Love, Yes Love Above ALL.

Mark of Pain

Fading, what we feel about pain, eaten by the rolling times
Whether long or short time will it take to be faded away
One can say that pain never leave, one can say that pain is curable
But one thing surely happens is pain leaves its mark
even when the touch of its torchery has gone
Like hammering that wooden body of our feeling and flesh
that mean mark of the nail will never recover
Now life will easier to walk through if you see that sickening mark is left behind
but never dare to forget its warning, when you're about to face the same swinging hit again
Never again you feel your pain stay forever
'Cause only its mark remains silent, but not its real flames

Assume

assume that things always
wait for you with all stability
these inanimates
if you think clearly has
a lesson for us to tell:

the table no matter
how tired still stands
on its four legs

the chair no matter
how problematic
its life is
still manages to
hold your bottom

the bed no matter
what happens
even if it has some
problems taking
its much needed sleep
still accommodates
your tired body and
makes itself available
for you and your
little darlings

the windows no matter
what the weather is
still clings to the walls
it closes when it rains
and opens when it
gets too hot

the door opens and
closes when someone
from your family arrives
and departs to some
places

they do not ask questions
they perform their duties
and they never complain
until they are finally broken
and then you throw them
away or replace them

i suppose they are more
stable and uncomplaining.

why can't we be like them
less our capacity for feeling?

Someone's Watching Over Me

I found myself today
Oh I found myself and ran away
But something pulled me back
A voice of reason I forgot I had
All I know is you're not here to say
What you always used to say
But it's written in the sky tonight
[chorus]
So I won't give up
No I won't break down
Sooner than it seems life turns around
And I will be strong
Even if it all goes wrong
When I'm standin' in the dark I'll still believe
Someone's watching over me
I've seen that ray of light
And it's shining on my destiny
Shining all the time
And I won't be afraid
To follow everywhere it's taking me
All I know is yesterday is gone
And right now I belong
To this moment
To my dreams
[chorus]
So I won't give up
No I won't break down
Sooner than it seems life turns around
And I will be strong
Even if it all goes wrong
When I'm standin' in the dark I'll still believe
Someone's watching over me
It doesn't matter what people say
And it doesn't matter how long it takes
Believe in yourself and you'll find
It only matters how true you are
Be true to yourself and follow your heart
[chorus]
So I won't give up
No I won't break down
Sooner than it seems life turns around
And I will be strong
Even if it all goes wrong
When I'm standing in the dark I'll still believe
That I won't give up
No I won't break down
Sooner than it seems life turns around
And i will be strong
Even if it all goes wrong
When I'm standing in the dark I'll still believe
Someone's watching over

Someone's watching over me
Oh oh Someone's watching over me

Northern Muse

And she moves on the solid ground
And she shines light all around
And she moves on the solid ground
In the county down
And she moves on the solid earth
And she knows what her wisdom is worth
And she moves on the solid ground
In the county down
She lifts me up
Fill my cup
When i'm tired and weary, lord
And she keeps the flame
And she give me hope
[to] carry on
If you see her
Say, "hello"
Well she's someone that i surely know
When i was young she made me roam from my home
In the county down
She lifts me up
She fill my cup
When i'm tired and weary, lord
And she keeps the flame
And she give me hope
[to] carry on
If you see her
Say, "hello"
Well she's someone that i'd surely know
When i was young she made me run from my home
In the county down
And she moves on the solid ground
And she moves in the county down
In the county down
When she moves...

What Does It Matter

Baby, why do they say the things they say
Would it be easier to live the way they say we should
Maybe, cannot but wonder back this way
Yours are the only arms that make me feel like something can be good
I believe its just a fact of life
Unless they wear our shoes to them its black and white
Ooohhhh
Just what does it matter anyway
What side of the road were standing on
And just what does it matter anyway
If in the long run nothing changes after we are gone
If nothing changes after we are gone
Baby, dont let them rob you of your pride
Theres not a thing I wouldnt do to make this easier for you
Maybe, every now and then I laugh and cry
Its getting harder now for me to separate the two
Where does innocence turn in to make believe
Cause make believe theres no one here but me and you
Ohhh
Just what does it matter anyway
What side of the road were standing on
And just what does it matter anyway
If you throw my love away because the world dont think its right
And they may never understand
And you cant change the minds of those who are blind
Unless you give them sight
And the world lies in your hand
Tell me, and just what does it matter anyway
If in the long run nothing changes after we are gone
If nothing changes after we are gone

Watching Me Watching You

I sit by the cutting on the beaconsfield line.
Hes watching me watching the trains go by.
And they move so fast --- boy, they really fly.
Hes still watching me watching you watching the
Trains go by.
And the way he stares --- feel like locking my door
And pulling my phone from the wall.
His eyes, like lights from a laser, burn
Making my hair stand --- making the goose-bumps crawl.
Hes watching me watching you watching him
Watching me
Im watching you watching him watching me
Watching stares.
At the cocktail party with a bucks fizz in my hand
I feel him watching me watching the girls go by.
And they move so smooth without even trying.
Hes still watching me watching you watching the
Trains go by.
And the crowd thins and he moves up close but he doesnt speak.
I have to look the other way.
But curiosity gets the better part of me and I peek:
Got two drinks in his hand --- see his lips move ---
What the hells he trying to say.
Hes watching me watching you watching him
Watching me.
Im watching you watching him watching me
Watching stares.
Hes watching me watching you watching him
Watching me.
Hes watching me watching you watching
The trains go by.
Hes watching me watching you watching him
Watching me.
Hes watching me watching you watching him watching me.
Hes watching me watching you watching him watching me watching him watching.

Dance Like No One's Watching

Dance like no one's watching
Feel the rhythm, Match the pace
Let the air fan your face
Forget about your sorrow
As if there's no tomorrow....

Dance like no one's watching....

Bend your body, Tap your feet
Listen to your own heartbeat
Sense your mind's pleasure
Which you cannot measure

Dance like no one's watching....

Let your soul laugh and cry
Till your throat runs dry
Feel the tiny beads of sweat
No No! Do Not Rest!

Dance like no one's watching.....

Let the music lead you
Where ever it wants to
And very soon you will possess
Some kind of golden happiness

Dance like no one's watching.....

Feel the life of eternity
Before coming back to reality
See your body's inner peace
And then only you will finish

The Dance that no one was watching
