Caring Less For The Loquacious
seated, formal, behaved,
and stopping to read the
morning paper,
the tv is on for the
usual morning news,
the cup of coffee is on
the breakfast table,
the usual rice and sunny
side up fried egg
and dried fish to
with your wish for
the wholesome thing,
salt and sugar and
something sour
like a piece of
lemon to accentuate
your need for a variety,
in front is a woman with
curly hair, big earrings like
a mystic,
she speaks in crystal ball
reminding you
of your inevitable
pain in the future,
you are her slave and
you listen,
though you are not
interested,
(shit, shit, you have these
words hammering in
your mind)
finally, you take a glimpse
of her mouth,
they look like scissors,
her nose looks like
a wrench,
she looks older
than you think,
cranky like an old
rice mill,
you like to get rid
of her,
you know this woman,
her name,
and her being a
part of you
even for life,
you create a certain distance
like Mars and Pluto,
farther away, you settle on
the orbit of earth,
this marble planet, known
for its coolness
and tolerance for
evil.
you're not quitting,
you love that dragon inside
your hot, creamy coffee,
and then you smile, and tell yourself,
after she had spoken
her piece,
it is a beautiful day
it is a real beautiful life out there.
you step inside your car, drive for work,
and let life manage your life somehow.

A Breakfast That We Cannot Eat Together
this is the breakfast that we cannot eat together a fish fried in an oil
with so much heat, like ' who cares? ' a rice not well cooked which says ' it is the maid again! ' a coffee which has gone cold which says ' you come late again! ' a egg which is not sunny side up a ham that does not roll a dirty table with an unwashed table cloth which says 'change it yourself! '
how can i eat all these?
i am late for the office and i have to go.

Happiness...
To know DESPAIR
and not to dislike it somehow
because it visits us once in a while
uninvited
We cannot just drive it
because it is related to
Joy and we must all welcome
a friend of our friends
a relative of our relatives
Take Despair as is
Feed it and Give it some drinks
AT night listen to its
Hang-ups and always
make it feel
that you too studied well
your psychology
and understood
what life (and death)
is all about
It will stay for days and nights
Be flattered
Perhaps it likes the way you
deal with it
It tempts you somehow
about the beauty of Suicide
Just refuse
Say your black and white NO
Do not betray
Bliss, and Beauty and Truth
and Goodness
that you still have
inside your hands
and heart
Despair like any Creature
also Experiences boredom
and then it decides to leave you
and because you have been patient
tender
and gentle
all along
You must have noticed
that you have changed a bit
Now getting bolder
and Stronger and
Wiser
and very patient
sensitive to the
needs of others
and also listening to
the inner voice
of YOURSELF
When it leaves you
Send her some of your gifts
Tell what you feel
How it had always behaved
In your house
and how others too have behaved
The way life should be
Send her your smile
and your hugs
And make a promise that
when it comes back
You will always give it a nice
bed and board
That usual breakfast of
sunny side up fried egg
and Thai rice
and brewed coffee
the homemade ham
and baked potatoes
Now you are at home with
Yourself
Now you know how to handle
all guests
invited or uninvited
Now you know what universal
welcome is all about
Wait for your next guest
Welcome Joy.
For life is just like
a House
With guests from time to time
Be an amiable Hostess
Take pride
In your little hospitality
and Household Diplomacy
and
with your learned
Social Expertise
Where can happiness
be?
ah, it is there
in Every Nook of the House
In every line of your palm
In every lock of your hair
In every pore of
your skin.

Breakfast Is Ready
(7: 45 in the morning)
to choose between a
hot breakfast ready on the table
and finishing another poem
i choose the breakfast
together with my wife
this poem can be suspended
in time
and become another unfinished
act of creation
by a man wanting to fill this
world with poems
after a while
when i have my fill and when
i make some nice conversations with my wife
and my dog beside the table
looking at me
for a piece of fried pork
when the sipping of coffee is over
when i finally wipe my
chin with the sky blue napkin
when i consider
eating as finally over
as promised
i will come back again
and finish this poem
and there is something
nice in this
act of creation
you feel it
it is warm like the hand of
a beautiful woman
it is as hot as ever
like this wanton desire
lovely,
as lovely as you love each letter
of the word
of your poetry
i am feeling it in the bone
of my soul

The Daily Poems
these may just be words
letters that one need not read carefully
as they are not instructions
or manuals for daily living
not something edible to eat
not a ball to play with on late afternoons
when you have nothing to do
not a bar of beauty soap for your face
not a lotion for your skin
not a piece of cake or a fried potato
for your breakfast table
neither is it a cup of hot coffee
they are not necessities of life
yet somehow
the daily poems of our lives
make us live
a day more,
an hour more of promise
a moment of more tolerance
another year of patience with ourselves
a night of nice sleep
under the stars.

Untitled 23
i stab
the fried banana
with a fork
pieces eaten
with joy in my heart
i stir coffee with cream
hot water inside the cup of white porcelain
i hear the ringing
of the door bell
and i do not mind
who is it what is it
i expect no one
this early morning
as i begin to piece together
broken glasses of memories
i dare love no one
and i dare no one to love me
there is an island of coffee with creams
inside the cup of porcelain
no one stirs it
except myself
i feed myself piece by piece with
a fried banana stiffened with bread crumbs
deep fried and well cooked
self, selfish upon itself
on a Maunday Thursday
the silence creeps like soft feet of a white butterfly on my arms
the windows are open
the air is free to go inside and play and be wary about its own molecules
the door is closed
no one is allowed to get in at this hour of my reflection
a day as mirror
a self as shadow cast upon a self upon a self
there is no language from the body
this time
only fools, only fools,
rising above themselves
saving life on some memoirs
a biography of another bigot begotten by this ghoul.

Such A Beautiful Woman
Such a beautiful woman with so much pain in her eyes,
such a beautiful woman that doesn't deserve this life she has been given, too many lies that has been endured both from herself and the awful man she calls her love. Beautiful woman you deserve so much more than this, she secretly dreams of a life free from every sadness and heartache she's ever known, but this beautiful woman will never let that stubbornness aside to have that life for her own
Beautiful woman you were born and raised not knowing the true potential hidden away, drowned out by all the negative, beautiful woman you deserve so much more than this. I wish I could take all the pain away, I wish I could make you see all the beauty, courage, strength that I know is there, hidden deep inside a mind and heart that has been abused, wronged and badly bruised for all her life, beautiful woman why can't you see? That you deserve so much more than this wretched life has given you, just look past all the hurt to find the strength I know you have. Such a beautiful woman...be set free.

The Man with Three Wives...
you ask,
how can did he manage to
have three wives?
well, he always buys things
in three sets:
three kilos of sugar
three bags of rice
three pieces of fish
three pinches of salt
three sachets of native coffee
three coffee mugs
three dresses with same design
and so everyone is happy
ever after.

Hang-over
between us is
a fence
a set of painted
iron grills
we greet each other
today
a formal good morning
i sit on a garden
chair
sipping coffee
and you on the other
side is
having a booze
of your life
a mixed concoction
of gin, lemon,
rum, (i do not mind
what you are
saying)
again i am engrossed
inside an
idea
which is a little bit
vague
last night.

Beautiful Morning
What a beautiful morning
The best in life is free
What a beautiful morning
Believe me
What a mystery
Though the world's on fire
Yesterday's hard words is still in my head
I feel no despair
No regrets or sorrows
Cause this new day
Makes me dance on air
What a golden day
What a beautiful morning in my life
The best in life is free
I give it all away
And I wonder what more is to come
And this beautiful morning changed my mind
Believe me when I say
The shadows fading out
As the day grows bright
We are turning pages
And we write new chapters of our life
Some are strong and long
Others weak with sorrows
Keep the focus on the rising sun
What a golden day
What a beautiful morning in my life
The best in life is free
I give it all away
And I wonder what more is to come
And this beautiful morning changed my mind
Believe me when I say
Shadows fading out
Believe me - crows will always fly
Believe me - they are only birds
You have to
You have to let go and you will see things in a different light
What a beautiful morning
What a beautiful morning
Believe me
What a beautiful
What a beautiful morning...
Believe me

Perfect Coffee
she dance in front of me, in early morning suite,
before the Rooster crock in early shout of morning,
brows and feel then the coffee lies in the table with
a happy roost
comfort the night with that dancing lady, where
every inch of her hair, languish her leg just off the
bed to play, come admirable ecstasy wake me up,
full and squeeze the earth, grip my trembling heart
as you quizzed my neck into the earth seeking night
with nothing but gone of myself
I almost drawn, of the mixed emotion of sugar drops
in the coffee, wanted a perfect blends of boil water as
it fades away, oh! yes thanks to the table that hold
every cup, the party has to go like a merry go around
the table of free
now the sweet aroma of coffee brings a good
morning mist, with sugar dare coffee taste as old, the
same thirst the tongue requests; drink the leverage of
mate that holds, for each breath of lips that savour
the spell, lives the saving faith
a hot coffee for free, take it out or dine with thee ….

Room For The Life
Hey there, you lady in tears,
Do you think that they care if theyre real, woman?
They just take it as part of the deal.
Lost in your men and the games you play.
Trying to prove that youre better, woman.
But you neednt get heavy with them.
Like it or not, we were built tough,
Because were woman.
No, we never die for long,
While weve got that little life
To live for, where its hid inside.
No, we never die for long,
Oh! woman, two in one,
Theres room for a life in your womb, woman,
Inside of you can be two, woman,
Theres room for a life in your womb, woman,
Mama woman, aha!
Night after night in the quiet house,
Plaiting her hair by the fire, woman,
With no lover to free her desire,
How long do you think she can stick it out?
How long do you think before shell go out, woman?
Hey! get up on your feet and go get it, now.
Like it or not, we keep bouncing back,
Because were woman.
No, we never die for long,
While weve got that little life
To live for, where its hid inside.
Oh! woman, two in one,
Theres room for a life in your womb, woman,
Inside of you can be two, woman,
Theres room for a life in your womb, woman,
Mama woman, aha!
A-mama-woma-mama-woman-aha!
A-mama-woma-mama-woman-aha!
Oh, mama-woman, two-in-a-one, aha!
Oh, two in one, aha!
Oh, woman! woman! woman! woman!
Theres room for a life in your womb!
Theres room for a life in your womb!
Two in one, aha!
Two in one! two in one! two in one!
Room for a life in your womb.

Pretty or Beautiful?
As I step onto the scale I wait for it to read my weight.115.
'What am I going to do I am still fat.
My family says that I am pretty but my boyfriend says that I am beautiful.
Which one am me? Pretty or beautiful?
I hear my mother saying 'come down for breakfast.'
I call to my mother 'one minute.'
I stare into the mirror and I don't see what my family sees.
I see my boyfriends point of view; beautiful.
The prettiest long brown hair and dark, hazel - green eyes
and perfect white teeth.
I see a young woman who’s ready to live her life to the fullest.
I see a woman who loves to help children in their day - to - day lives.
I see a woman who’s going to succeed in whatever she believes
it is right or wrong.
I see a woman who will help adoption agencies, shelters
and the homeless.
I see a woman who will believe in everyone around her and who
will motivate those who need motivating and help them succeed.
I see a woman who can do anything that is put in her way and who
will get it done right the first time.
I am that woman, of success.
I am that woman of motivating people and challenging them to
do the right thing.
I am a woman of faith of love and of beauty.
I am a woman who is ready to live her life to the fullest.
I am me!

Beautiful Mess
Going out of my nind these days,
Like Im walkin round in a haze,
I cant think straight, I cant concentrate,
And I need to shave.
I go to work and I look tired,
The boss man said son you gona get fired,
This aint your style, and behind my coffee cup,
I just smile.
Chorus
What a beautiful mess, what a beautiful mess Im in spending all my time with you
Theres nothing else Id rather do.
What a sweet addiction that Im caught up in, cause I cant get enough
Cant stop the hunger for your love.
What a beautiful mess, what a beautiful mess Im in. (ah ah)
This morning put salt in my coffee
I put my shoes on the wrong feet
Im loosen my mind I swear, it might be the death of me, but I dont care.
Chorus
Bridge
Is it your eyes,
Is it your smile.
All I know is that
Your driven me wild.

Fish And Rice
Daniel phoned me today
with his usual two year old exuberance
which comes naturally when you are two
and comes naturally when you're fifty two
until you extinguish it with old damp habits,
and he said
'Fish! Fish! I like fish very much!
Daddy, fan fan, fan fan', (Chinese for rice)
and yes Daniel has already mastered
three languages, English, Mandarin and enthusiasm
the last of which he is most adept at.
Well I thought he was enjoying his fish supper
but not so, and I should have known,
this exuberance could not be the result of food
unless perhaps a rare taste
of smooth creamy chocolate.
No he was feeding fish,
fish with an appetite for rice?
No, but no one had told him the ingredients of fish food
or me for that matter
and of course he was right,
as far as the fish are concerned
this was indeed the rice of life.
And he was now suddenly very upset
standing in the corner, arms folded, despondent
what happened? I asked
I am told by my reporting wife
that there had been a message I had missed,
and should have known.
Feeding fish is more essential for happiness
than eating fish,
and on his return home, freely swimming happy fish
should be waiting for his love and bliss.

A Little Sunshine
a grain of rice
on a table cloth
beside
a cup of hot
coffee
imperceptible
but when a connection is found
soon
the spoon and fork
shall understand
some pieces
no matter what
do not fit
on a reasonable landscape
what is the grain of rice
doing on a breakfast table?
your mind is furious
i think it is cool

Devil Woman
Ive had nothing but bad luck
Since the day I saw the cat at my door
So I came into you sweet lady
Answering your mystical call
Crystal ball on the table
Showing the future,the past
Same cat with them evil eyes
And I knew itwas a spell she cast
Shes just a devil woman
With evil on her mind
Beware the devil woman
Shes gonna get you
Shes just a devil woman
With evil on her mind
Beware the devil woman
Shes gonna get you from behind
Give me the ring on your finger
Let me see the lines on your hand
I can see me a tall dark stranger
Giving you what you hadnt planned
I drank the potion she offered me
I found myself on the floor
Then I looked into those big green eyes
And I wondered what Id come there for
Shes just a devil woman
With evil on her mind
Beware the devil woman
Shes gonna get you
Shes just a devil woman
With evil on her mind
Beware the devil woman
Shes gonna get you from behind
If youre out on a moonlit night
Be careful of them neighbourhood strays
Of a lady with long black hair
Tryin to win you with her feminine ways
Crystal ball on the table
Showing the future,the past
Same cat with them evil eyes
Youd better get out of there fast
Shes just a devil woman
With evil on her mind
Beware the devil woman
Shes gonna get you
Shes just a devil woman
With evil on her mind
Beware the devil woman
Shes gonna get you...

Because Of You
I was so hypnotized
By the smile in your eyes today
Flying free as a bird
Caught inside every word you say
I want everyone to see...
This is big time
This is larger than life
See the sparks fly
When you're standing by my side
Every step, every move, everything I do
Life is beautiful because of you
Every breath that you give
You're my sweet oxygen my friend
You made me follow it fast
So my dreams could get past the end
I want everyone to feel...
This is big time
This is larger than life
See the sparks fly
When you're standing by my side
Every step, every move, everything I do
Life is beautiful because of you
How did I survive before you came into my life?
Now I'd do anything at all, anything at all
For you
This is big time
This is larger than life
See the sparks fly
When you're standing by my side
Every step, every move, everything I do
Life is beautiful because of you
Oh all because of you
Because of you
Bacause of you
Everything I do
Life is beautiful because of you
This is big time
This is larger than life
See the sparks fly
When you're standing by my side
Every step, every move, everything I do
Life is beautiful because of you
Because of you

Did You Read The Morning Paper
(Nickolas Ashford/Valerie Simpson/R. Monica)
Did you read the morning paper
Did you see the front headline
Did you read the morning paper
Baby let me lend you mine
There on the front page was a picture
Of a crowd as they watched a parade passing by
And through the haze of last nights sleep
Something familiar caught my eye
There was a couple looking so much in love, yes
They had a front line view
And as I pulled the paper closer
I realized standing next to her it was you
Did you read the morning paper
Did you see the front headline
Did you read the morning paper
Baby let me lend you mine
Now I know why you've been working late each night
And no longer have desire to ever hold me tight
And your busy, busy schedule was all a lie
Oh, even the dream with a bonus, oh just another alibi
Did you read the morning paper
Did you see the front headline
Did you read the morning paper
Baby let me lend you mine
Did you get the news today
Did you read the morning paper
Isn't the picture very clear
Where do we go from here
Did you read the morning paper
Did you see the front headlines
Did you read the morning paper
Baby let me lend you mine
Oh, what now
Did you read the morning paper
Did you get the news today
