Art For Art's Sake

it is art for art's sake
nothing more nothing less
shy away from popularity
delve on the magnanimity of
your day to day task
this art for art's sake
like scribbling for nothing
just scribbling and scribbling
like hearing and then writing
brown leaves fall upon
brown leaves on the ground
over the roots of trees
decay comes like everything
destined to be rotten
and then you sleep on some
cool shade
smelling the flavor of your
silent labor

art for art's sake
who needs your rating?

art for art's sake is like breathing
getting in your lungs
what is invisible to the eye
and yet so essential
the inevitable and the inextricable
the ineluctable the inexorable

it is like taking all the entrances
and then accepting
that there are no exits

Ars Gratia Artis

i will say this
and i will say this
again to you

it is for art's sake
that i write
not for the rating
not for popularity

that is why i never
go on campaigning
that you read me

i do not advertise
no gimmicks
just plain writing
because i just feel
like doing it

words come and
i welcome them
they ask to be written
and so i have to
write them

art must be for art's sake
words are written
and poems are posted
because they are here.

Art For Arts Sake

Gimme your body
Gimme your mind
Open your heart
Pull down the blind
Gimme your love gimme it all
Gimme in the kitchen gimme in the hall
Art for arts sake
Money for gods sake
Art for arts sake
Money for gods sake
Gimme the readys
Gimme the cash
Gimme a bullet
Gimme a smash
Gimme a silver gimme a gold
Make it a million for when I get old
Art for arts sake
Money for gods sake
Art for arts sake
Money for gods sake
Money talks so listen to it
Money talks to me
Anyone can understand it
Money cant be beat oh no
When you get down, down to the root
Dont give a damn dont give a hoot
Still gotta keep makin the loot
Chauffeur driven
Gotta make her quick as you can
Give her lovin make you a man
Get her in the palm of your hand
Bread from heaven
Gimme a country
Where I can be free
Dont need the unions
Strangling me
Keep me in exile the rest of my days
Burn me in hell but as long as it pays
Art for arts sake
Money for gods sake
Art for arts sake
Money for gods sake
Art for arts sake
Money for gods sake

Gotnothintodo2day

got nothing to do 2day
just scribbling and chatting to a friend
who is also pretending to be someone else
feigning happiness and embracing all the sadness
like, well, i have to admit,
like us.

i don't even know if i have to stop scribbling
whatshamakalit, a poem? gee,
i don't know
i am simply unstoppable,
bad, and too
earthly.

For Love Alone

Occupy my whole life with the one thought and the one desire of love, that I may love not for the sake of merit, not for the sake of perfection, not for the sake of virtue, not for the sake of sanctity but for love alone. Thomas Merton, Seeds of Contemplation.

radiant vision
brilliant interlude
raging clouds sundered,
sun-split storm;

soft rain falls
through winter-bare trees,
through fields of
feral flowers,

God's world
set afire
for love alone

For Veronica's Sake

(Alice Cooper / Bernie Taupin / Dick Wagner)
I got my name and number
I got my bed assigned
I got a dog in the city pound
That I left behind
I'm strapped down and wild-eyed
She's locked up in a pen
She needs somebody to feed her
And I'm her only friend
So for Veronica's sake I gotta get out of here
Yeah for Veronica's sake, she can get pretty weird
Yeah for Veronica's sake I gotta get myself out of here
We both been put in cages
We got our shots and tags
I got my sweatin' fist to shake
She's got her tail to wag
She has to bark and whimper
While I could scream and shout
The clock above the psycho ward
Says time is running out
So for Veronica's sake I gotta get out of here
Yeah for Veronica's sake, she can get pretty weird
Yeah for Veronica's sake I gotta get myself out of here
And I can see her howling all night at the lonely moon
They're going to give her the gas if I don't get there soon
I gotta get there soon
For Veronica's sake I gotta get out of here
Yeah for Veronica's sake, she can get pretty weird

For The Sake Of The Love

Do not feel sad for the sake of the love

The love has gone like it always does

Only thing that it leaves behind

The painful memories

Do not cry for the sake of the love

The love is a game that alway ends

Only thing that you have the ashes of the memories

And they have nothing to do to return back your love

Just they make us die when we are still alive

Day by the day and who will cares?

So do not cry for the love

The love is already gone

To find a new game to satisfy his pride

Hold on to the memories unless you have them

No one can take them away

Agree that the love ends

You can not survive

living with all this pain

The time is running by

Nobody deserves to be a slave for his sake

You can not keep crying till the end of the life

So do not cry for the sake of the love

Because the love is a lie

Rudyard Kipling

A Ballad of Burial

If down here I chance to die,
Solemnly I beg you take
All that is left of "I"
To the Hills for old sake's sake,
Pack me very thoroughly
In the ice that used to slake
Pegs I drank when I was dry --
This observe for old sake's sake.

To the railway station hie,
There a single ticket take
For Umballa -- goods-train -- I
Shall not mind delay or shake.
I shall rest contentedly
Spite of clamor coolies make;
Thus in state and dignity
Send me up for old sake's sake.

Next the sleepy Babu wake,
Book a Kalka van "for four."
Few, I think, will care to make
Journeys with me any more
As they used to do of yore.
I shall need a "special" break --
Thing I never took before --
Get me one for old sake's sake.

After that -- arrangements make.
No hotel will take me in,
And a bullock's back would break
'Neath the teak and leaden skin
Tonga ropes are frail and thin,
Or, did I a back-seat take,
In a tonga I might spin, --
Do your best for old sake's sake.

After that -- your work is done.
Recollect a Padre must
Mourn the dear departed one --
Throw the ashes and the dust.
Don't go down at once. I trust
You will find excuse to "snake
Three days' casual on the bust."
Get your fun for old sake's sake.

I could never stand the Plains.
Think of blazing June and May
Think of those September rains
Yearly till the Judgment Day!
I should never rest in peace,
I should sweat and lie awake.
Rail me then, on my decease,
To the Hills for old sake's sake.

For Old Times Sake

Lets make love for old times sake.
Lets set right an old mistake.
Lets invite our hearts to break.
Its right tonight, but just for old times sake.
Remember you as mars, and me as venus.
Strange to see the grey in your hair.
And now to feel a peace so deep between us,
And to realize that we still care.
Lets make love for old times sake.
Lets set right an old mistake.
Lets invite our hearts to break.
Its right tonight, but just for old times sake.
I used to think we would wind up together,
Our destinies always entwined.
Oh, but your heart kept changing like the weather,
And you wound up leaving me behind.
Lets make love for old times sake.
Lets set right an old mistake.
Lets invite our hearts to break.
Its right tonight, but just for old times sake.
Lets make love for old times sake.
Lets set right an old mistake.
Lets invite our hearts to break.
Its right tonight, but just for old times sake.
Its right tonight, yeah,
But just for old times sake...
Its right tonight for old times sake.
For old times sake.
Old times sake...

A Hazy Shade Of Winter

Time, time, time
See what's become of me...
Time, time, time
See what's become of me
While I looked around
For my possibilities
I was so hard to please
Look around
Leaves are brown
And the sky
Is a Hazy Shade of Winter
Hear the Salvation Army Band
Down by the riverside
It's bound to be a better ride
Than what you've got planned
Carry a cup in your hand
Look around
Leaves are brown
And the sky
Is a Hazy Shade of Winter
Hang onto your hopes my friend
That's an easy thing to say
But if your hopes should pass away
Simply pretend
That you can build them again
Look around
Grass is high
Fields are ripe
It's the springtime of my life
Seasons change with their scenery
Weaving time in a tapestry
Won't you stop and remember me
Look around
Leaves are brown
And the sky
Is a Hazy Shade of Winter
Look around
Leaves are brown
There's a patch of snow on the ground
Look around
Leaves are brown
There's a patch of snow on the ground
Look around
Leaves are brown
There's a patch of snow on the ground

Sonnet: Keep The Sabbath-day Holy

'Remember Man, to keep Sabbath holy',
The Third commandment of God clearly says;
And if you can't, 'twill be your own folly;
Your life gets spent wholly in worldly ways.

Oh, what a pleasure hearing Sunday Mass,
And taking part in God's great sacrifice!
God made the six days, for man's sake; Alas!
The Sabbath day is God's just asking price!

What guilty feelings fill my heart when I,
Don't go for Sunday's Liturgical rites?
A good habit for soul's sake should not die;
God's candle in our heart, it serves to light.

Can I not spend just one day for God's sake?
'Tis worth the swim in Elysium- God's Lake!

One Kiss For Old Time Sake

One kiss for old time sake
before you go away.
One kiss for old time sake
before you leave today.
My heart is beating sadly
knowing our days are through.
Nothing that I say
will stop you going away.
So before you open the door
give me
one kiss for old time sake
before you walk away.
Just one kiss for old time sake
before you say goodbye and go.

For Christ's Sake, It's Christmas

Let there be not one stranger
To away in a manger
Let there be not one soul left untold
Let there be not one face unknown to the face of the one
Who will gather the fold
[chorus]
For Christ's sake, it's Christmas
So for Christ sake let everyone know
They all have the choice so lift up your voice
Make sure they know
By Christmas Eve
Pray that everyone sees that we've opened the eyes
That were closed
For Christ's sake it's Christmas
And for Christ's sake let everyone know

Addiction for M lady Kim

Addiction

I’ll exercise self discipline.
Today I will not write a word.
I have decided it’s no sin.
This constant scribbling’s absurd.
I choose a book and start to read
but then some phrase enraptures me.
Quite suddenly I feel the need
I have to write and urgently,
Before my train of thought is lost
I find my pad take up my pen
and writing in the style of Frost.
I find I’m scribbling again.
My muse cannot contain her glee.
She knows that she’s in charge not me.

For Heavens Sake

For heavens sake
D.meyer/bretton/s.edwards
For heavenssake lets fall in love
Its no mistake to call it love
An angels holding hands with me
How heavenly heaven can be
Here is romance for us to try
Here is a chance we cant deny
While heavens giving us a break
Lets fall in love for heavens sake
Dont say a word my darling
Dont break the spell like this
Just hold me tight; were alone in the night
And heaven is here with a kiss
This pair of eyes can see a star
So paradise cant be so far
Since heavens what were dreaming of
For heavens sake, lets fall in love

Mirage

The hope I dreamed of was a dream,
Was but a dream; and now I wake,
Exceeding comfortless, and worn, and old,
For a dream's sake.

I hang my harp upon a tree,
A weeping willow in a lake;
I hang my silent harp there, wrung and snapped
For a dream's sake.

Lie still, lie still, my breaking heart;
My silent heart, lie still and break:
Life, and the world, and mine own self, are changed
For a dream's sake.

The serious thing about poetry

The serious thing about poetry

Is the 'serious thing about poetry'

It is not in the writing but the reading

We define it!

We who did not write it

Or know the serious thing about poetry

Is in the 'business of writing'

In the silent inflections and reflections

In the silence

Just the silence

And the space

And the writer

Writing

First feeling

First breathing

First yet not first

Then recalling

In diary

On dictaphone

While alone

In a crowd

In a park

Round the back of the track of

The old garden, where you used to play

Taking your time

Walking the long way home

With your head full of books

Your book, full of thoughts

And the serious business

Yes the serious business of 'Art'

In the making...

Making or a name?

The serious thing remains

Afterward untouched

Always the same

After the awards

They all went home

And some hung their OSCARS in the loo

And some feeling foolish hung their heads in shame

For the sake of the art

For arts sake

Finding still trying to find whose to blame?

For Old Times Sake

One kiss for old time sake
before we part our separate ways
who knows where or when
our paths will cross again.
One kiss for old time sake
before we say goodbye
who knows what tomorrow will bring
or where our future lies.
One kiss for old time sake
to say we loved back then
just to keep as a memory
if we never meet again.

We Speak Of Liberation

we speak of liberation and shudder...
yet birds leave the nest for the last time
without so much as a tear.
trees shed their leaves
without falling to their knees.
rivers run for the sake of running.
the wind comes from nowhere,
bound for nowhere...
never murmurs or complains.
the snail crawls into infinity,
leaving only a trail for the sake of memory.
our grandparents long dead,
still speak to us in our dreams.
and the ocean that twas our mother,
is at peace that we have gone.
as god crawls out of the box,
that we put our name on...
much as clouds wink without a face.
what is there to be afraid of?
we are so much more than what we've lost!
