Afternoon Flow Of Linking Thoughts

there you are
pain and its protrusions

creeks to rivers
and tributaries like

fingers of the hands
into thy chest to listen

to the whispers of the
heart the sea and the

ocean to become whole
again to be not noticed

as pain and its protrusions
but wagering waves friends

of the monsoon winds
slaves of the lights of the moon

sailing like ships losing
their shadows to a limitless

horizon into that darkness
sleepy until the next opening

day of the sun where light
in profusion blinds the eyes

the truths that scare us
we should have loved and

believed like gripping hands
of our very best friends.

The Analogous

everything has
an analogy

for instance these hands
with fingers

are they not rivers and creeks
a source and
tributaries?

for instance this body
this temple
where my soul rests

this eye
this window of the house

the sun
the eye of the earth

a friend of the stars
the wonders of our longings

for instance
the silence
a dash in our talk
a space of our doubts

many more
for instance you and me
two hands in prayer

To A False Friend

Our hands have met, but not our hearts;
Our hands will never meet again.
Friends, if we have ever been,
Friends we cannot now remain:
I only know I loved you once,
I only know I loved in vain;
Our hands have met, but not our hearts;
Our hands will never meet again!
Then farewell to heart and hand!
I would our hands had never met:
Even the outward form of love
Must be resign'd with some regret.
Friends, we still might seem to be,
If I my wrong could e'er forget;
Our hands have join'd but not our hearts:
I would our hands had never met!

My Hands

my hands have ten rivers
there are furrows of sorrows in the destiny of my palms
no mountain peaks to view the world
holistically,

my hands have ten crystal clear ponds
my hands mirror my face
my hands surrender
my hands open

they are all yours too and you are so cruel
you are telling me like you detest me in the residence of your full moon

you do not need rivers, you had enough of my surrender, you are ashamed
of open hands, you touch me and then you make a plea

'please close your hands and with your ten rivers, please sail away from me! '

i know what a full moon is. I too had enough of its light and silence.
i have the nerves of the stars, and i know what sailing away means.

let me thank you for your dark skies, your clouds are too heavy for me.
i am raining tears, too salty for my ten rivers.

Ever Shall It Be

Ever shall it be
When the sky cries rain
Friends come with gentleness
To wipe away the pain

Ever shall it be
The distressing wind sighs
Friends are laughing
To bring joy into your eyes

Ever shall it be
Lonely wolves howl to the moon
Friends gather ‘round you
To sing a merry tune

Ever shall it be
The frozen sit in cold
Friends dance with liveliness
And warm you in their hold

Ever shall it be
The pines moan in sorrow
Friends speak lightly
Of a bright tomorrow

Ever shall it be
Darkness closes in
Friends uncover lights
Shining from within

Ever shall it be
Friends are always there
Friends to lean on
In the depths of despair

I Dreamed.... (Hands)

i dreamed last night...
and all i could see were hands.
sometimes hard and calloused,
sometimes soft and feminine.
skilled hands, laborer's hands,
loving hands, nurturing hands....
fingers digging in the dirt,
fingers holding a pen.
fingers playing a piano,
fingers unbuttoning blouses.

hands extended, hands gripping the rope,
hands holding the shovel,
hands covered with resin.
hands folded in prayer,
hands balled into fists.
hands stuffed in empty pockets.
hands that define both history,
and destiny!

hands scarred and bruised,
hands covered with age spots.
hands that speak many languages.
hands that know mistakes, and failures.
hands that built fires,
hands that put fires out!
hands that wiped away tears,
that picked up trash,
and revealed souls....

whose hands?
my hands, your hands?
god's hands?
does it really matter?
hands engaged and involved,
in the very act of living!

You Do Not Notice The Genius Of Other People

in your vanity
in the tallness of your price
like the tower of babel
you stand disunited
and scattered soon
you shall be like leaves
blown by the winds
of change

you do not notice the genius
of other people
you have looked so profusely
inside yourself
and you have not only become
one meaningless tower
but a cave digging more
confusions towards
the darkness of your
feet

try opening the eyes between
your eyes
try using the ears embedded
in your ten fingers

hear those who have no spoken
listen
see those who are like shadows
living
in the twilight of your life

perhaps you can find yourself
the paradox keeps upon itself the truth

your heart thrives somewhere
your hands have not been holding

Friends Will Be Friends

Words and music by freddie mercury and john deacon
Another red letter day
So the pound has dropped and the children are creating
The other half ran away
Taking all the cash and leaving you with the lumber
Got a pain in the chest
Doctors on strike what you need is a rest
Its not easy love but youve got friends you can trust
Friends will be friends
When youre in need of love they give you care and attention
Friends will be friends
When youre through with life and all hope is lost
Hold out your hands cos friends will be friends right till the
End
Now its a beautiful day
The postman delivered a letter from your lover
Only a phone call away
You tried to track him down but somebody stole his number
As a matter of fact
Youre getting used to life without him in your way
Its so easy love cos you got friends you can trust
Friends will be friends
When youre in need of love they give you care and attention
Friends will be friends
When youre through with life and all hope is lost
Hold out your hands cos friends will be friends right till the
End
Its so easy love cos you got friends you can trust
Friends will be friends
When youre in need of love they give you care and attention
Friends will be friends
When youre through with life and all hope is lost
Hold out your hands cos friends will be friends right till the
End
Friends will be friends
When youre in need of love they give you care and attention
Friends will be friends
When youre through with life and all hope is lost
Hold out your hands cos right till the end-
Friends will be friends

Ships Passing In Night Born

ships are sailing upon turn tide flowing river waters
light is dance happy mellow yellows closing long day
soon sunset will add flame reds fingers yellow gold
sun sets sinks into still sea upon horizon home shores
dust light fades shadows creep in stealth murky images
suddenly black dawns night deep darkness speaks in glory

starlight sparkles upon enchanted waters river ebbs flows
passage across bar out into ocean waves rocks emotions
soon short journeys made upon ocean waters salts senses
watch shoreline beach grey sands invisible stretch wet away
waters dark painted ocean oil black sparkles in flow waves
beach sands perfume night with residue heat breeze vapours

Internal Reverie

In the darkness on a starlit night
I lay close to the shore of my memory and imagination-
Waves of anger and recollections of personal injury,
Mistrust and betrayal are flooding over me as
A tidal wave would, splashing tears of hurt and doubt
From my eyes as the moon laughs ridiculing
The fear that has me immobilized-
Starlight is dim as any hope left inside,
The light of the moon, figments of my imagination and
Feelings of rage are overwhelming me as
Rain begins to fall and as raindrops hit the ground I feel an upsurge of emotion-
I cannot control as the starlight becomes dimmer
- Inside my mind a clock is ticking rapidly-
Flight of time is terrifying as the waves of resentment
Splash upon the imaginary shore where I lie-
Lost hope and the pain of self harm induce once hidden fears to resurface-
Ships sailing in an ocean without direction, in the darkness of this starlit night
I would board a ship and search for another destination as
I ride the waves, no land in sight- Overcome by bleak darkness as the moon disappears
Behind the clouds and the rain pours down in torrents,
Blinding me- I never believed there was a god or a heaven,
I never believed in angels singing or
Patron saints that would bring me towards some sort of salvation-
Life has been a tragic musical of which I am the star-
Lost inside my own world from which I was snatched away-
I lived in a world where the sun rose in the very early morning and
People never deceived one another and starlight was bright in
The early evening, into the dawn of the next day-
Waves were gentle, washing over a shore of freedom and
Rain never fell, obliterating my horizon-
I ride my ship into the night as the stars and moon have disappeared-
Waves are closing in on me and I am searching for an island of serenity –
I hear for the first time angels singing their most heartrending melodies-
Perhaps it is only a dream- but in my mind dreams are my only reality as
I can see the stars appearing on the horizon as candles would brighten a
Home on a winter’s night, I keep on riding that ship still trying to find redemption-
Islands of expectation and trust that may appear in my wildest reverie-
In fate and luck I am a believer whether or not a God exists-therefore
Even though light may be dim, a gentle ocean breeze shall
Perhaps carry me towards that island in my fondest dream where
The sun shall appear from behind those clouds of misfortune, which shall
Become none but lost memories of the past, never to reemerge.

Zahir

he steps out the door of the house
it is late and he walks wherever his feet carry him
he wants to be irresponsible about what to do with himself

he bathes himself with the light of the moon
sits under the tree on the grass
it is always this way
solitude and loafing of thoughts

he looks at the moon and once again stares at its craters
its round smiling face glistening in the middle of this darkness
all veins of rivers and cliffs and creeks

he loses himself in these thoughts
so faraway as distant as the stars are tiny

these excruciating details of his pain
he goes wherever these pains take him
he does not mind anymore

but soon all these will be over
he will be oblivious about what happens for the moment
he takes his hands and open them before him under the light of the moon
he sees the lines of his palm
he wakes up from the moonlight stupor
he traces now
where
for God's sake, where is the trail that now must lead him to joy

Birth Energy

I am opening
I am opening up
Birth energy
Be my teacher
Birth energy
Heal my fears
Teach me trust
Teach me compassion
Walk me into the darkness
And into your light
Birth energy
You are woman
Birth energy
Within the man
Ever constant
Ever changing
Let your winds blow
Rock me in your storm
Let the bough break
Let me fall
Into your arms
It is you I trust
When I say
Im trusting love
Invocation:
I stand among the sisters of the moon
I am held by the creator of the world
I am opening
I am unbounded
I am luminous
I am powerful
I surrender to this power
Life and newness are continued and
Renewed through me
You are the ocean
I ride upon your waves
I am opening
I am blown apart by your caress
I surrender to you
I embrace you
I am ready now to sing the moon
To be her voice
I am the singer
And life is her song
I sing creation
I sing joy and pain
Beginning and ending
Giving and taking
Existence
Goddess
I embrace you
I am opening
I am opening up

Fog Holds Lights

FOG HOLDS LIGHTS

Fog holds lights in soft hands stroking
the bay, floating across waters alive
with flickering rays. The night air whispers

of ancient sand castles and the gleam
of small stars stirring the romance of darkness.
It clings faithfully to the rise and fall

of waves washing in, swinging to
the rhythm of a sea singing love songs.
Fog holds lights in soft hands, clasps love

in tender touches, grasps hope in strong
fingers as it rolls in. Reality
blurs, an impressionist painting

lying just under the murky paint of fog.
Fog holds light in soft hands, embraces
dreams carefully as they swoop

across our sleep like moonbeams prowling
the night sky. It smothers the future and remolds
the past, leaving us in a blurred limbo.

Fog holds light in soft hands wet with tears.
When it is time for it to be gone,
it lifts silently and disappears.

Haiti Survivor

The earth shook
And the buildings collapsed
She and her friends were trapped
Total eclipse.
Light left no trace
In darkness she heard
herself and her friends
crying, sobbing, moaning
in pain so unbearable to bear.

She could not move her legs
Only her hands could touch
a stone, wanting to embrace
her friends but she could not.
Dusts filled her lungs
She coughed, yes, they coughed.
They continued to sob and moan
She screamed calling for help
She yelled in all despair
but nobody heard her.

Those outside had to survive
They were running to find
shelter from the after shocks.
They were pulling bodies
of those whose legs and hands
they could see and touch
But she and her friends were trapped
Down deep in the ruins of dark dungeon.

One week passed
The voices of her friends
were heard no more
Two weeks and three days passed
And there was no voice for her to shout.
She prayed, she slept, she dreamed
She saw light, she saw herself
willing to start a new life
Then she woke up
to this new dream, to this last hope
and to this new lease of life.

With the last hope in her voice
She cried for help again
And her last voice echoed
to the ears of the French rescuers
Then slowly the light entered
Her will to live on won.
Out from the ruins and rubbles,
she was pulled out from total eclipse
to the full shining lights of sun and moon.

Sailing On The Tide

Here I am feeling confined
Neon lights are making me blind
I need time out in the sunshine
The city and me just dont agree
On who I should be
Maybe I should get away
Take myself a holiday
No more calls begging my time
No more walls for me to climb
I cant wait to feel the sunshine
Leaving at down
After Im gone life go on
Someones gonna take my place
Runninn in the human race
(*) sailing on the tide in the morning
Now I love that salty air
Sailing to the wide horizon
Let the fresh winds
Guide us there
Maybe if you feel like it, too
You might like to make the run
Sailing over the ocean
To my beautiful island in the sun
Over there people are slow
Low key life is all that they know
Lying around high on the sunshine
Lazy lagoons warm afternoons
Tropical moons
Sleepy beaches everywhere
Anyone is welcome there
Make no plans play it by ear
Could be days maybe a year
Im gonna be free in the sunshine
Takin my time tryin to find
Some peace of mind
Nothins gonna hurry me
Nothins gonna worry me
Repeat (*)
Sailing on the wide horizon
Let the fresh winds
Guide us there
Maybe if you feel like it, too
You might like to make the run
Sailing over the ocean
To my beatiful island in the sun

Too Late

Have you heard about the hollow man?
Too frightened so he turned and ran, from the vision that he cherished so.
Couldnt see it, so he let it go.
Everybody has a secret sin.
But everybody needs a chance to win.
Anyone could see Im a man thats sad and broken by the things Ive done.
But now Im sorry that I said goodbye.
And Im sorry cause its me thats crying.
I never finished what I started to, but Im just so sorry that Im hurting you.
But its too late for us to just be friends.
And too late for anything but the end.
And too many dreams fell through our hands.
And its just too late to understand.
Now Ill never make a new beginning,
And Ill never stop the pain from winning.
Nothing matters to me anymore now.
Ive lost the things I was fighting for.
And now Im sorry that the dreams are gone,
And Im sorry cause Im not the
One who comes running when you need me so,
Cause Im the fool thats let you go.
But its too late for us to just be friends.
And too late for anything but the end.
And too many dreams fell through our hands.
And its just too late to understand.
All the tears of pain are falling down, (oh, oh, oh, oh).
All the tears of pain are falling down, and you know...
But its too late for us to just be friends.
And too late for anything but the end.
And too many dreams fell through our hands.
And its just too late to understand.
But its too late for us to just be friends.
And too late for anything but the end.
And too many dreams fell through our hands.
And its just too late to understand.
But its too late...too late...its too late...

On Going To Mumbai

Parting is the destiny of every rose,
The garden is sad when it goes,
Both are helpless and pain grows,
But, fragrance yet it having pathos,
I'm here but my heart remains there,
And take me too lives my heart where.

I'm restless when remember the sight,
My mother departed me with wet eyes,
Placed her hands on my head hiding her eyes,
Containing herself she tried at full her might,
My sisters too put their hands on my head,
My heart weighty, I stumbled moving ahead.

My lovely friends who're dear to me,
Came and surrounded me with affection,
My heart restless like waves in the sea,
And eyes were wet like froth's collection,
They can't be parted like the sun from its beams,
I would often meet them in my dreams.

Condensing evolution

condensing evolution
to five thousand years
time flips over creation
like children enthuse over
the pages of a pictorial book

men run like swarms of ants
turning from monkeys to suave
dandies, the hair losing their grip
and skins changing ala cameleon
black to white, to brown to yellow

the sea unleashes peaks
to scale the heavens and also
levels them to take our feet to
show us nature's fairer hands

lands embrace each other
like a family to eventually float away
never to see each other again

trees rush to grow themselves
taking us into their frenzied trail
that soon sees them high and
dry skeletal postures raising
a thousand fingers to the heavens
for their fate and fire up figments
of our imagination as to the lesson
they are pointing out to us right below

and animals they sprout beaks
wings, legs, hands, fingers, horns,
scales, fur, feathers, gills, lungs and
mind tugging protrusions a painting
that spews spontaneously from the pencil
of an ingenious noosey three year old -
fishes swim in azure sky, dinosaurs trumpet
into scarlet sky, a tarzan rescues her frail princess
a snake devours a lion and a monkey puts on an
apron to cook lunch for her brood while the moon
smiles and waves all the way from her luminuous throne

No Words Can Explain

Love Unbearably
Have you ever loved someone so unbearably?
That your chest wants to burst
Have you ever longed to see someone so much?
That when you close your eyes,
You can feel he is near
Only to find upon opening your eyes
That he is not there
Have you ever loved someone so much?
That you just want to be by yourself
To daydream of the day
That he will appear
Have you ever
Felt the pain of loving someone
Have you ever loved someone?
You can feel his pain...
Have you ever loved someone?
And not have the words to explain
