About Last Night.....
i finally went to bed at
1: 30 a.m. and when i undress myself
as i usually do,
when i turned off the light
you turned it on
in a little while you while naked
went up bed
and walked towards the door
opened it and then closed it again
as though darkness
when the lights were turned off again
was a big mouth
eating the whole of your naked body
and then
gone
i wished i were asleep.
but it wasn't
because the following morning
the whole room was as silent as
clothes on the floor
without a body.

The Party I Mentioned
I appeared at the dumpsters
taking my shoes off
as I turned
I walked through the
kitchen
and down the hall.
Heavy melodic
Turkish vibes resonated
throughout the wire thin
incense trails.
I lifted the blinds. White wall.
The lights were a faded green
and flickering.
Ince Ince Bir Kar Yagar-
it never ceased.
The door opened to broken
cities,
flames atop cars,
it was neither day nor night.
I turned back into the room,
Now an acre of grasslands,
people dancing,
same song.
Impulsively
my heart connected. My body
afterwards.
I closed my eyes,
but saw everything as clearly
as if they were open.
Patchouly scents
came in waves like
pain.
The field.
Gold, red, yellow beauty.
Buddha's hand was over the sun,
shunning in golden lust.

Alone On A Stormy Night
flashes of lightning
roaring thunder
heavy rains and
flooded highways
the street lights are off.
there is total darkness
the strong straight light of the car
guides me towards home.
i park the car beside the
the house. I get out and
open the front door.
winds blowing stronger
the veranda is drenched
the gutter with leaves
overflows with water.
i open the door of my room.
undress myself and wipe my body.
i am dry. Silent. Uncomplaining.
i am finally alone.
I decided not to argue. Not to think.
Relax. Sleep. Dream.
Too much reason, too many arguments
When what i need is only this pillow
This blanket,
A window closed. A safe house.
A glass of water perhaps. But later.

Bad Dreams (Children)
In my dream, I heard a tiger
so I hid behind a tree.
I was frightened he would eat me up
'cause he roared and roared at me.
I woke up scared and sweaty,
thought I'd sleep with Mom and Dad,
but when I went in their room,
Dad was snoring really bad.
I climbed between them anyway
with the blanket pulled up tight.
I closed my eyes and wished real hard.
No more tigers, not tonight!
I remembered what my daddy said,
that your bed is like a book.
If the page on the right is scary,
turn left and take a look.
I turned to my left and fell asleep.
The tiger wasn't there...
but in its place, and growling L O U D
was a big old grizzly bear!
This time, I woke up shaking!
That really scared me bad!
I had turned both left and right
and they were the only turns I had!
Daddy's snoring like a buzz saw.
How will I go to sleep?
I'm not too good at counting yet
or I'd count myself some sheep.
I thought about his snores some more...
hmmm, Daddy sounds just like a bear.
On second thought, a tiger, too,
so I got out of there.
I closed their door behind me,
then I tiptoed quietly,
and shut the door to MY room, too.
No more roaring snores for me!
In Dressing Room
In dressing room
Naked eventually to see the hands and feet
See the length of hands and feet
Like to see one’s length or shortness
Naked finally to see the body
See the body’s fat and lean
Such to see one’s tolerance and mean
In dressing room
Holding the picked and chosen clothes
Finally lone to face the mirror
Put on and take off, Take off and put on
Try on and change, change and try on
After all
How many times I should change to face a shameless I?
After all
How many time I should change to face the world

The Urn....
He finally pulled in the drive.
Another endless night at work.
Exhausted, he turned off the car,
and stumbled for the back door.
The neighborhood cat rubbed
against his legs as he fumbled
for the key.
As he opened the door, he noticed
that the light over the sink was on.
Shaking his head, he shrugged, and set
down his lunchbox.
He reached in the cupboard for the
bottle and a glass. He poured a small
shot, and hesitated for a moment.
He could hear the night just outside
the window. Something inside of
him let down. He kicked back the shot,
and headed for the bathroom.
A quick shower, and he found his way
to the bedroom. Lying naked on the
bed, he lit a smoke, trying not to think.
He could hear the ticking of the clock in
the hallway. He put out the cigarette, and
dozed.
He awakened to the scent of her perfume.
He heard her voice, whispering, 'be still'.
He felt the presence of her body in the bed.
Her long hair draped across his face. He
felt her on top of him, her heat and her desire.
He raised his face to kiss her....
And then she was gone! Startled, he groped
at the bed, clutching air. He sat up and flipped
on the lamp.
The room was empty. A few crumpled dirty
clothes in the floor. The book he'd been reading
on the nightstand. But no sign of her!
His hands shaking, he lit a smoke, and blinked.
He looked around the room again.
Every nook, every cranny, every crack in the paint.
Finally, his eyes fixed on her dresser.
A picture of her on their wedding day. A half empty
bottle of her favorite perfume. And the urn.... the
urn, with her wedding ring lying on the base.
He flipped off the lamp, and wept.

Me And The Sea
do not expect me to wear
a G-string when i decide to take my swim
i always go naked.
I like always to feel the sea
all over my body
i plunge myself
and feel the nakedness of the sea
too
it's water all over me
all around me
naked sea to my naked body
you know how it feels
it feels like the way we do it
you are the sea
and i am a body
you are a body
and i am the sea
so simple and yet
what a bliss
naked, deep, blue, watery
wet, slippery, salty,
sweat mixed with the salt of the sea
two naked bodies
feeling
salt, earth, sand, fire

Let Me Come Home
I left you there, strong and sturdy
Lights turned on and heat cranked up
Closed your door, to take a tour
With the girl I love so much
I traded my home for another that night
And although it was brief
Someone decided that for that night
I should feel grief
I took my leave from my girlfriend
(my home from home)
To travel back to where I left you
With lights turned on and heat cranked up
I desired your physical feeling and glow
And so I walked…
“A mile” I said “It will not be so bad”
But little did I know
Of what I did not have
“MY KEY” I gasped
I forgot it in your depths
While I walked towards you
I did not know if you’d let me rest
I tried to think of your unclosed door
Welcoming on in
And so I chanted in the late night din…
Please let me come home
I pray and ask and plead for home
I need, and desire, and glorify you home
I asked and was given a crack in the door
You let me come home.

Better Off On Her Own
My girl came home to me just the other day, acting ok.
I was reading alone in my favourite room, the tv was on.
May I be excused for not telling the truth
cos shes gone, she said shes better off on her own.
She turned her head much better off on her own.
My girl knocked on the door to the place I usually refer to as home.
I died, shoelace untied she looked in my eyes, small and surprised.
And God closed every gaze the moon fell into the lake.
Boy, shes gone, a drift shes better off on her own.
She closed, then she left much better off on her own.
Sitting naked by the windowsill watching cars upon the hill.
Am I sleeping?
I was dreaming for just a moment time stood still.
Better off on her own, better off on her own.
Now shes gone, she said shes better of on her own.
She turned her head much better off on her own.
Shes gone, she sighed shes better of on her own.
The tears I cried much better off on her own.
My girl came home to me just the other day.

Naked
'my family, my friends, my children, my wife...'
Have you ever tried to strip naked
i mean from body to soul
'my job, my country, my school...'
Have you ever tried to go naked
for the winds to blow and the sun to scotch
'my God, my religion, my pastor/preacher...'
you've got to try being naked
to lay out your thoughts and meet the truth
The world and all it's dwellings could belong
but try going naked for a day
and visit the realms of greatness
This is not madness but sadness
with which i beseech you to strip naked
and find the truth we've all missed
strip naked: put off the cloth of pretense
move out of the darkness of illusion
and come where naked, where the light shines.

And Will You Love Her Again?
yes
and why do you say yes? because my arms and hands are ready
ready for what? for my lips
what do you mean? i have prepared myself how to hug and touch and kiss her
again
a dark night, a room, a candle, a glass of wine,
a cell phone turned off, and silence
this is
it, yes, the two of you again meeting
and did you taste her again? oh yes, i tasted her again my tongue is hardheaded
and how did she taste like? still sweet, sweeter than before
was she beautiful? more beautiful than ever
how did you know? she was naked
is beauty being naked? yes, someone beautiful must be naked before me
and silent and quite and private
she is still my sorrow and i know what i have at the end are still tears

It Was Not The Beginning Of Pain
when i hear that music
which is played outside this enclosure
whose windows are like leaks
upon a container of water
i remember you
alone in the other side of the room
we were then in zamboanga
we were boarders and i was reading a book
behind the wall that divided us
i was pretending
not being concerned about your loneliness
which i inadvertently presumed
i allowed the silence to creep on the floor
rising to my hair
which could not in any sense understand at all
what was happening
within me, it was strange,
it was a nostalgia that i never figured out
till then
it was too painful for me imagining that you love me
and that soon
when i finally left for another destination
i put it upon myself that you should miss me somehow
it was a little bit awkward
but i wanted it to reign in my heart
like it was a precious gem
i wished i had knocked at the door of your room
but the lights were already turned off
and i was presuming that you too were listening to the
silence of the enclosure where i am
situated comfortably
in my pretensions
i could have loved you and told you about it
but i knew that with the prevailing
times, the chaos and the rules of the game of war
during that time
us loving each other would be as absurd
as lines traveling parallel to each other
and in opposite direction
should ever meet
i understood the situation so i also turned off the light of that room
when i left the following morning for a new assignment
the landlady told me that you already left much earlier
That was not actually, the beginning of my pain
it began when i first met myself and got introduced to it
with me not knowing myself exactly,
with such an accuracy denied to the level of my convenience
or comfort.

Catherine
on top of me is a woman's body
after
a moan is another woman's body
a door opens
for a woman's dressed body
a window closes
for a woman's naked body
Catherine
wolverine in a woman's body
pure cotton
dangling softness in a man's naked mind.

Maybe Maybe She Remembers Me Again
i imagined her again
that early evening when she over drank her wine
she was bent at nothing
but simply to relax herself a bit
from a broken heart
she was tipsy, she walked towards that room
dimly lighted, she did not close the door
she undressed herself
walked naked and laid herself
on the carpeted floor
which i could see from where i was seated
trying to compose myself
in my own way of recovering from an old wound
she stood again went back to the door to close it
as i did not follow her
she did not smile
neither did she speak a word
but i understood
the following morning she dressed herself
put on her shoes
whistling her way out of the door then closed it
i went back to the usual pretense
i slept
till ten.

When Your Lights Turned On
(hicks / clarke / nash)
If I see the lights on in your room
If I see the lights on I call on you
Its a signal that hes gone
So Ill call you when your lights turned on
And Ill be happy to wait up until he goes
And Ill be happy to wait up until I know
That the coasts clear its all right
So Ill call you when your lights turned on
Everything you say about me gets right home
Thats why I put up with you this way
Everything you say about me gets right home
I wish that he would go and I could stay
That the coasts clear its all right
So Ill call you when youre lights turned on
Verse 3
Just for how long can our love go on like this
If you thought more about me youd end all this
But when your lights on its all right
So Ill call you when youre lights turned on

The Elevator
I was on the ground floor
and I wanted level five.
I pressed the call button
and waited for it to arrive.
It arrived with no one in it,
so I entered and closed the door.
It took its time to get going,
then slowed for the next floor.
The doors hesitated then opened,
but no one was there,
but I definitely felt a presence
and a disturbance in the air.
I was standing still and anxious
when the lift shook from side to side.
The doors closed and up it went to three
where the doors opened wide.
Again no one was there waiting,
but I felt someone get in.
Movement in the air and floor
was most unsettling.
I was overwhelmed and nervous
as it approached level four.
It stopped, but no one was waiting,
just like the stops before.
The elevator paused for a second
and I swear someone got in.
I was certain that I heard whispering
as the elevator set off again.
The space felt uncomfortably eerie
cold, but very much alive.
The rotten egg smell made me sickly,
as we went passed level five.
The light suddenly turned to darkness,
and I could see forms and shapes.
They were pushing each other violently,
as we approached level eight.
I pressed the emergency button,
but we still passed eight, nine, and ten.
At level eleven the elevator stopped…
then began to go down again.
At eight the elevator came to a halt
and everyone but me got out.
The darkness became light again,
so relieved, I gave out a shout.
The elevator continued downwards
and stopped at the ground floor.
An old lady and her dog waiting to enter,
but I couldn’t exit the elevator door.

The day after the pillow write
I wrote you a poem
I knew one was owing
It had to ring true and spell out how you are
You don't have a poetic bone in your body
So demanding your interest
Was going too far
Few of my writes
Had you on the invite
As you'd said that the meaning goes over your head
A role of the eyes is your silent reply
So til now I've kept most of them from you instead.
But the morn before this
As you planted that kiss
A poem emerged I was sure
would transcend
The picture it painted was
just as occurs
And I knew it would reach you, so I pressed send.
I looked at the floor
As you walked through the door
And smiled coyly but didn't coax any praise
Those curls soon turned South
at the ends of my mouth
Cos the subject, I'm sad to report, was not raised: -(

I Like It This Time
when the world is so silent
because everyone is fast asleep.
when the night is dark
when all the lights on the street
are turned off
when no one walks his way
back home
because everyone is finally
at home
i like it this time when the wind
stops when the leaves find
no disturbance
when the paths and roads are
finally vacant from feet and cars
and buses
when every car is parked in the garage
when the child sleeps
in her mothers arms sucking her nipple
when the father is beside mother's
body
when sisters hug each other in bed
i like it this time
when the world finally is rested
for i am now awakened from
my sleep
i like it this time when i begin
to write
when what i hear is this
computer machine is buzzing
fanning (sighing)
like my long trip
in the plane.

The drug party
Four drugged kids were naked in the room
and had removed
every piece of clothing from their bodies.
Sweet sour with a smell
that is almost like khaki-weed,
their marijuana zol’s smell went right through the house.
When I stood at the front door
every thing in the house was ungodly and deadly silent,
as if I walked into a place were the spirit of man can die.
I opened the room door slowly
and there was no innocence to be seen
and only children that were naked on their knees
almost praying,
around that bottle point zol sitting staring
and the stench was more repulsive
than that of vomit or liquor.
Pain went right through my soul
to see children
throwing their lives away like this
and past all reason and other desires,
see them chase the drug god
and to see them lying there
somewhat dead to life.

As I Wait For For You
and then our minds met at a point
of convergence
i waited for you in a room without a number
a place without a name
a space where only us know what & how to fill
i am naked
you want the whole truth and so i am naked
in this room without a number, a place without a name
a space, where only our self-manifested emptiness know how & what to fill
when you arrive do not call my name
be so soft and gentle with your feet
do not even say your name as
i have also left my name somewhere else
and it is only i who knows it
i lose my identity
that is how i want to spend my short moment with you
i am naked
i only have my face, my skin and my flesh my bones my whole body
not my soul
do not knock
just push the door
it is left open throughout the nights of my waiting
i have intended it that way
so when you arrive and i am still asleep with my dreams and desires
of you
do not disturb the silence and sweetness of my sleep
just whisper your desire for love so sweet to my ears
touch the surfaces of my skin and caress with your soft fingers the smooth lines of my face
place your head just beside my tight chest
for there you shall hear the sounds of all my desires
and then my love we begin the sharing of our hidden truths
we shall dance in our nakedness
we shall make love real
we shall open the shutters of this closed window
we let the slits of light from outside the night get inside us and put some
warmth on the empty pores of our skins
we bring light to the darkness of our lives
we put fire to those eyes that refuse to close and die

Please Dont Turn Out The Lights
Evrytime I need reality, in jeopardy of losing all of me
I just am not stronger, life dont last so long , so baby,
If your turned out the light, if you turned out the light,
Please dont turn out the light, please dont turn out the light
Turn out the lights
Baby, I dont feel too reliable
I can only do what Im liable, but if you want to leave me
Love me and just leave me, baby;
If you turned out the light, if you turned out the light
Please dont turn out the light, please dont turn out the light
Turn out the lights
Turn out the lights
