A Bunch Of Ripe Guavas

on a basket
is a bunch of
ripe guavas

the birds
early this morning
shall be
envious about us

every fruit
is love waiting
to be slowly chewed
savored and
swallowed

Scenes.....

the night is
a mannequin

and we are
the recent
harlequins
in the room

the night is
no longer a mystery
it is colder
and the lights are not
turned off
because of fear

dimmer
like promises

the floor is silent
like the carpets
the dusts invade
like a catacomb
ambient

the scenes outside
are horrible
dead birds hanging
themselves
on the twigs of
a fungal tree

nevertheless
a bunch of ripe guavas
wait still
to be picked by some
hands of the
boys.

Outside The August Wind is Playing

Outside the August wind is playing
swinging branches up and down,
grabbing on flowers that are still standing
with fingers which are desiring
and I wait upon birds to appear again
after their around-the-world journey
while knobs are on the branches of fruit trees,
ready to unfold in blossoms
in early spring
but the cold is making its presence known
with ripe lying spread out in the early morning
while the winter season
is still doing its icy thing.

Early In The Morning

Early in the morning and I cant get right
Had a little date with my baby last night
Now its early in the morning (early in the morning)
Well its early in the morning (early in the morning)
Now its early in the morning
And I aint got nothing but the blues
Went to all the places where we used to go
Went to your house but you dont live there no more
Now its early in the morning (early in the morning)
Well its early in the morning (early in the morning)
Early in the morning
And I aint got nothing but the blues
Went to your friends house but she was out
Knock on your fathers door and he began to shout get out there boy
Early in the morning (early in the morning)
Early in the morning (early in the morning)
Early in the morning
And I aint got nothing but the blues
Went to doogie chain to get something to eat
Waiter looked at me and said you sure look beat
Now its early in the morning (early in the morning)
Early in the morning (early in the morning)
Well its early in the morning
And I aint got nothing but the blues
Well its early in the morning
And I aint got nothing but the blues
Well its early in the morning
And I aint got nothing but the blues

Tweety Birds

Two tweety birds,
Hangout on a branch.
Two tweety birds,
Waiting for their lunch.

Their time is spent
Tweeting, preening in a bunch.
A ritual, a noise event.
Birds gather not in a 'bunch',

They stay together in a 'flock'.
I wrote 'bunch'
to rhyme with lunch.
So there, you have it in a block!

Birds of a feather flock together,
Sing melodious tunes
Birds of a feather in any weather,
Tweet in timely tunes.

Early Christmas Morning

Listen to the children sing
Watch them dancing all around the Christmas tree
Waiting for the opening
Early Christmas morning

All around the world is sleeping
Little children there's no peeping
Wait and see what Santa's bringing
Early Christmas morning
Early Christmas morning

Icicles and breakfast cakes
Friends and family we will celebrate
Sounds that joy and laughter make
Early Christmas morning

All around and far off places
Angels waken smiling faces
Wrapping us with love and graces
Early Christmas morning
Early Christmas morning

Early Morning

(pal waaktaar/ mags)
Early morning
Eight oclock precise
I see the lonely august sun arise
Say you know
You will
Move me like you do
Out on the fields...
Im waiting the whole night through
Early morning, early morning, yeah
Ran the whole way
Down to the tracks
Through the doorway, then a last look back
Say you know
You will
Save me like you do
Out on the fields...
Ive waited the whole night through
Early morning, early morning, yeah
I climbed all the stairways
To find the rooftop clear
Got the shotgun lying with me here
Say you know
You will
Move me like you do
Out on the fields...
You know how it feels, yeah
Early morning, early morning, yeah
Early morning
Eight oclock precise

It Should Be The Kindness That Counts

i like it here
where kindness is put like a basket
full of fruits
where you pick one and taste
one and say
this fruit is sweet, and juicy and luscious

and then not to be outdone
you put some red & white roses
beside a basket and some
daffodils and colored daisies
and i say
oh! how beautiful have the fruits
become
because of the flowers!

i like it here
on friendly air
and sunny skies and singing birds

it is here
where kindness begets kindness
where love begets love
where everyone braces for the race of happiness

and never
violence.

Happiness

So early it's still almost dark out.
I'm near the window with coffee,
and the usual early morning stuff
that passes for thought.

When I see the boy and his friend
walking up the road
to deliver the newspaper.

They wear caps and sweaters,
and one boy has a bag over his shoulder.
They are so happy
they aren't saying anything, these boys.

I think if they could, they would take
each other's arm.
It's early in the morning,
and they are doing this thing together.

They come on, slowly.
The sky is taking on light,
though the moon still hangs pale over the water.

Such beauty that for a minute
death and ambition, even love,
doesn't enter into this.

Happiness. It comes on
unexpectedly. And goes beyond, really,
any early morning talk about it.

How I Love The Quiet

How I love the quiet
The early morning streets
With few people and fewer cars
The sounds of the wind and the birds
Which do not need to be heard-
The sound of my own voice singing alone its morning song-

How I love the quiet
Of the early morning
And how in my old age
I just enjoy walking along
And singing a song to myself
Into the surrounding silence.

Misty River

This morning
Me in this Misty River
All the happiness
I am feeling inside myself
Misty River
The mist is coming
From this Misty River
There are clouds
In the sky
And the mist
Is caused by the condensation
Of the heat mixed in the cold water
Misty River
I am in a fishing boat
That boat is moving slowly in this
Misty river
It is early in the morning
I am eating my breakfast in the fishing boat in the middle of this
Misty River
I hear the birds singing early in the morning
In this Misty River
There must be trees because the sound of the birds is coming from the Branches
Misty River
So peaceful
It looks so different with the mist
No one is around but me
With my fishing boat
And the beautiful sound of the birds
It is so nice
To have a place to come to
Where I can
Hear the sound of the birds
And be left alone
With no one disturbing me
Misty River
This is my special place
And by afternoon
No clouds I will see
The birds are beautiful
Their song is just beautiful like mother nature intended it to be
If nobody else appreciates this Misty River
I do
Misty River
I will die for you
Misty River
I will shed my tears for you
I have been coming here for so long now
Misty River

Act Of Love

Neil Young - "Mirror Ball") (performed live on various dates)
The fruit of love was in the future
Around the corner and over the hill
The act of love was slowly pounding, slowly pounding, slowly pounding.
The Holy War was slowly building
Heroes leaving for the Great Crusade
Seek reward in the ever after, ever after, ever after.
Don't wanna have to lose you baby
Don't want to have to take you back
You know I'll never lose you baby, abuse you baby, use you baby.
You know I'll always help you baby, but you know I just can't do that.
I know I said I'd help you baby, here's ny wallet, call me sometime.

After The Bombing Incident

AFTER the bombing incident last night
at the church of San Pedro
tiny shreds of flesh hang on the walls
and ceiling of the confinement.

the cries are not prolonged except the
sounds of ambulance
and the military jeeps
to and fro the city gates

sleep was denied, and then that early morning
i opened the window
i saw this little blue bird perched on the guava tree
it was singing a very sad song beside a bunch
of ripe guava fruits.

I like fruit baskets because it gives you the ability to mail someone a piece of fruit without appearing insane. Like, if someone just mailed you an apple you'd be like, 'huh? What the hell is this?' But if it's in a fruit basket you're like, 'this is nice!'

Life Of Work

riding in the saddle
henchmen at your side
holy macaroni
hose you on your back
and the bystanders just stand there
like _____ on a shelf
in the world of work your rivals
that you have yet to meet
and quite a bunch they are
in the morning sun
with blinking eyes
the worthless stands
in readiness
for transport to
the battleground
there's dirty work
ahead of them
and quite a bunch they are
what do you do with a life of work?
what do you do with a life of work?
what do you do with a life of work?
face it in the morning
face it in the morning
and the parting of the ways
and the interrupted mirth
and the shock that has to come
because of what you want
compared to what you've got
meet it squarely
and it only hurts
when it hurts
life of work
early in the morning

The View At The Top

it is 3000 steps from the
ground. You begin climbing
on an early morning
when the grass are still
rich with dew
and then the sun
starts to shine and then
the birds start to gather
the sweet sap of the
fruit with their
tiny, and long, black beaks
along the way.

it is not strange to see
a variety of colored
butterflies hovering
from one flower to
another. They too
gather the nectar
from the wildflowers
along the way.

you climb slowly
each cemented stair
of this old shrine
you tackle each
station of the cross
of this catholic rite.

finally at noon you
reach the top and
see the whole of the
city below.

a river winds like a
snake.It is the same river
that you pass seven times
before reaching the
ground of this peak.

you see the sea beyond
like a basin with still water.
you see boats like
floating petals of a
white flower, and those
biggers ones appear
to you like leaves
that had fallen to the ground.

you see clouds and clear skies
and you feel that up here
you are both king and god.

do not look down on this cliff
the feeling that everyone pulls down
your feet is still there.
you have felt it before in the office
where you are working and you
want to quit.

just like the butterfly that gathers
the nectars or the birds that gather
the sap of the ripe fruits
you come here to gather
your spirit. You want to be strong.
You want to be whole again.
You like to move on.

There is so much silence at the top.
There is no noise except the comforting silence of the wind.
There is so much to gather here.
Memories. Thoughts. Solitude. Peace.
Harmony. The unity of the universe in the
palm of your hand.

Oily Water

LEAD IN ME AND ME IN WATER
DANGLING IN MY WORD
I SWALLOWED TO MUCH OILY WATER
IT KEEPS SLIPPING DOWN MY SPINE

IN A SENSE OF SELF DECLINE
GROWING FAT ON SOUND
IT'S ONLY AN EARLY MORNING DREAM
AND THE WHOLE WORLD WILL BE ALRIGHT

[CHORUS]

MY HEAD IS FULL OF SUSPICION
I'M COMING HOME SOMETIME
I'VE SWALLOWED TOO MUCH OILY WATER
IT KEEPS SLIPPING DOWN MY SPINE

IN A SENSE OF SELF IN DECLINE
LYING ON MY BACK
IT'S ONLY AN EARLY MORNING DREAM
AND SO THE WHOLE WORLD WILL BE ALRIGHT

[CHORUS]

Swallowed

Warm sun feed me up
i'm leery loaded up
loathing for a change
and i slip some
boil away
swallowed followed
heavy about everything
but my love
swallowed sorrowed
i'm with everyone and yet not
i'm with everyone and yet not
i'm with everyone and yet not
just wanna be myself
hey you said that you would love to try
some
hey you said that you would love to die
some
in the middle of a world on a fishhook
you're the wave
you're the wave
you're the wave
swallowed borrowed
heavy about everything
but my love
swallowed hollowed
sharp about everyone
but yourself
swallowed oh no
i'm with everyone and yet not
i'm with everyone and you're not
i'm with everyone and yet not
piss on self-esteem
forward busted knee
sick head
blackened lungs
and i'm a simple selfish son
swallowed followed
oh no i'm with everyone and yet not
got to get away from here
got to get away from here
i miss the one that i love a lot
i miss the one that i love a lot

Winter's Sun

Early morning's winter sun,
filters through the shades,
birds enjoying goodies,
as the frost of morning fades -
Moisture on the pavement,
makes patterns in the light,
and reminds us of the rain and snow,
we encountered in the night.
Darkened, silohuetted trees,
frame themselves, against the sky -
For the moment, for the season,
they have gladly died.
Still they stand, proud and tall,
leafless since the late, late fall,
taking each day as it is done,
waiting...watching...for the sun,
to bring them warmth as they stand mute,
in time to bud...in time, to fruit.
Winter comes and winter goes,
as fast as any clock can run,
the seasons come,
the seasons go,
and spring awaits old winter's sun.
