An Island Or A City
is he an island or a city
he wonders through his world
not knowing the words
if an island or a city
lost time
and
losing life
in search of a dream
that was never dreamt-
from happy to sad
but never being glad
changing like the days and dates
that will never come back.
nor an island or a city
is left
but the dust, in the wind
don’t go in search of a dream,
that was never dreamt!
Was it an island

Tale of Three Cities
New York blasted London blasted
Singapore -
Ripped off each other's metaphoric balls,
Crumbling walls.
Priapic city monoliths -
Blue-sky scraping bastards -
Shout about their height (but really length) .
V8 arseholes didn't care -
Pumping shit into the air,
So long as they were always there to
Fart aloud a smoggy cloud,
Laughing at the weak asthmatic,
Humoured that it seems traumatic.
Watch the greedy cities oozing
Chair-bound fat committees, though they
Look a bunch of titties as they
Waffle on about the pound.
Ever thought to look around and see
That they were dead?

At Hiroshima's rock
I had to do a project on Hiroshima for school and I came across a poem about helping the victims at Hiroshima. That one poem inspired me to go and write this about a victim of Hiroshima.
P.S. For those of you who don't know the Enola gay was the plane that bombed Hiroshima
In solitude I walk
Down at Hiroshima’s rock
With the wind at my back
The sky itself was jet black
As I walk
At Hiroshima’s rock
I, the white soldier
Down at Hiroshima’s rock I watch
Waiting on the world
Something will occur
For if nothing were to happen
The world would just arrest
As I walk
At Hiroshima’s rock
I, the white soldier
I hope for the best
But hoping has done nothing
It has killed my friends
It has destroyed my country
As I walk
At Hiroshima’s rock
I, the white soldier
I knew the war was on
All our support had been withdrawn
Peace was on the way
This could well be the last day
We all just want this to be over
As I walk
At Hiroshima’s rock
I, the white soldier
I saw in the distance
The gray Enola gay
I knew right then
The war wasn’t over
As I was running to the ground
I saw little boy fall from the sky
I saw a huge flash of light
Then, I saw no more
As I walked
At Hiroshima’s rock
I, the dead soldier

The Holocaust Song (August 6th, '45.)
8-15 Tuesday morning
a burning flash dissolved the skies,
death reigned without warning...
August 6th, '45.
In a lightning crash of frozen moment,
thousands were incinerated and scourged alive;
firewinds flayed through paper houses...
August 6th, '45.
People cauterized to the melting earth,
their scalding blood, their flesh that fried:
they were the lucky ones...
August 6th, '45.
Who put the horror in Hiroshima?
Who wrote shock on the human eye?
Who etched terror onto mankind's future
that August 6th, '45?
Across the warscape of that flattened city
women stumbled too numb to cry,
their skin pulped with boiling blisters...
August 6th, '45.
Lines of shuffling, staring figures
too stunned and sick to wonder why,
their faces shocked but past all panic...
August 6th, '45.
People peeled like red bananas,
those people lived but quickly died;
skin that hung like paper streamers...
August 6th, '45.
Who put the horror in Hiroshima?
Who permitted genocide?
Who sanctioned that mad disaster
on August 6th, '45.
Lurching beings like lifeless corpses
silhouette an ashen sky;
they wandered, abject, without purpose...
August 6th, '45.
Whose pride murdered Nagasaki?
Whose decision prepared the lies?
Were they doomed or just unlucky
that August day, '45?
Escape's denied to all survivors,
cancers haunt them till the day they die.
And their heirs will curse the craven authors
of August 6th, '45.

Honor and Betrayal (Jiangsu 1937-1945)
The bamboo leaves swished in the wind
As Lieutenant Ryouta Takahashi said goodbye
To his wife and son.
He made his way to the port
With measured steps,
His mind thick with heavy thoughts.
On route
To reinforce the Japanese garrison in Shanghai
The convoy set sail
From the Sasebo Naval Arsenal
In Nagasaki Prefecture.
It was part of the 3rd expeditionary fleet
Of the Imperial Japanese Navy
Consisting of a dozen cruisers and gunboats.
Their mission was to patrol the coasts
And river ways of China and to give support
to the landing operations of Japanese troops.
The boats ploughed through choppy waters
In the South China Sea for two days
And three nights.
Upon casting anchor in the Yangtze delta,
Lieutenant Ryouta Takahashi reported himself
To the staff of his commanding officer,
Major Daiki Chinen.
Judging by his name,
Takahashi-san told himself,
The major ought to be from Okinawa.
The lieutenant spent
A few relatively calm weeks
In Jiangsu Province.
But then, on August 13,1937,
The Battle of Shanghai began.
The exchange of fire
Escalated into a full-scale war
Between Japan and China.
Imperial Japanese Army units,
Supported by aircrafts and tanks,
Crossed over the Bazi Bridge in Shanghai.
Hirohito’s Third Fleet
Stationed in the Yangtze
And the Huangpu River joined the battle.
They bombarded the Chinese positions
In Shanghai.
It became one of the fiercest battles
Of the war. After three months of fighting,
In the end of October, the Chinese forces
Led by the Nationalist General Chiang Kai-shek
Started to retreat from Shanghai to Nanjing
Engaging the Japanese in combat
Along the road.
Advancing with his platoon,
Takahashi was shocked to see
Piles of corpses of Chinese men, women,
And children lying on the roadsides.
Once, in a stockade yard,
He saw Japanese soldiers
Dashing forward and shouting ‘charge’
In bayonet practice on Chinese civilians.
At another time he saw a sergeant
Amusing himself in tossing grenades
At captured prisoners.
Grinning widely, the sergeant removed
The safety pin of the hand grenade,
Holding in place the lever in a death grip
And then threw the bomb
At the frightened and helpless victims.
It took seven seconds for a grenade
To explode, leaving in its wake
Bleeding men with shredded bodies
And limbless torsos.
And Takahashi also witnessed
Other atrocities. He saw
Imperial Army soldiers
Raping and killing women,
Murdering men and children
And then looting their houses.
In the autumn of 1937,
In the days before Nanjing’s fall,
The invading Japanese troops massacred
About 150,000 Chinese prisoners
Along the Yangtze River.
The commanding officer of the region
Was initially General Iwane Matsui
But he became ill and
Prince Yasuhiko Asaka,
Uncle of Emperor Hirohito replaced him.
The Prince issued a secret order
To kill all captives.
Despite being surrounded
By the horrors of war,
On a rare occasion,
Takahashi-san managed to sit down
With Captain Naoki Hakudo for drinking
A few cups of saké.
They both liked it herb-flavored.
From small choko cups
They gulped with joy the aromatic rice brew
And their spirit rose fast to an elevated level.
And so, it did not take long
Before the beverage
Loosened their tongues.
“You know, Captain”, said Takahashi-san,
“The height of the sky rivals the depth
Of our everlasting shame.”
“And why is that? ” asked Hakudo-san.
“As you know our history and culture
Are rich, but we are indebted forever
To China for her gifts to us;
For her contributions to our identity,
For shaping our way of life,
Our customs and outlook on the world.
Mind you, culturally, Japan absorbed
The Confucian virtues of loyalty,
Trust, righteousness, politeness
And wisdom. And now look
What happens here.
How can we do this to China? ”
Hakudo-san gave an inquisitive look
To his comrade.
“Well, lieutenant”, he said,
“Remember that your duty is to be loyal
To your country. And never forget
That your honor is to die for the Emperor.
Nothing less and nothing more.”
The Sino-Japanese War went on
And expanded into World War II.
Eight years after the Battle of Shanghai,
On August 6,1945,
The American “Enola Gay” B-29 bomber
Dropped an uranium atomic bomb
On Hiroshima.
Three days later another B-29,
The “Bockscar”, raided Nagasaki
And destroyed it with a plutonium bomb.
Soon after the nuclear attacks
Emperor Hirohito
Reluctantly announced the capitulation
Of the Empire of the Rising Sun.
On September 2,1945,
A formal surrender ceremony
Was held in Tokyo Bay
Aboard the battleship USS Missouri.
The Second World War was over.
Takahashi-san survived the war.
However, it took many months
Until he was able to return
To his homeland and to reunite
With his family.
He could hardly recognize his son.
He also found that his wife
Was very different.
Takahashi-san settled down
To civilian life
As a mechanical engineer.
A few weeks after his return
He was sipping green tea
In the rock garden.
It was a peaceful morning
And a glorious sun was rising
Over the snow-capped summit
Of Mount Fiji.
For a while
He looked at the magnificent scene
And then turning to his wife, he said:
“You know, Shiori,
My comrades and I always believed
In the unimpeachable supremacy
Of the Emperor.
We served him with honor.
And we remained loyal
To our country till the bitter end.
Yet we betrayed humanity.”

City of Love
Come to this place,
And witness the sunrise,
Come to this city,
And witness its beauty.
To the north of the city,
Rice-fields you'll see,
To the south you can reach,
The city beach.
Come stop by the west,
Oh, one of the world's best!
You'll find nothing else,
But Mt. Mayon no less!
If you go to the east,
The International port can't be missed,
Or just go island hopping,
That should be exciting!
Or make your number one priority,
St. John The Baptist Church you should be,
From Mt. Mayon's rocks it was formed,
Rocks- by egg whites were joined!
Where is this city so pretty?
By its beauty you'll be in captivity,
Tabaco-City of Love no wonder,
Is a rightful name yours forever.

Honolulu City Lights
Lookin out upon the city lights
And the stars above the ocean
Got my ticket for the midnight plane
And its not easy to leave again
Took my clothes and put them in the bag
Try not to think just yet of leavin
Lookin out into the city night
And its not easy to leave again
(*) each time honolulu city lights
Stir up memories in me
Each night honolulu city lights
Bring me back again
You are my island sunset
You are my island dream
Put on my shoes and light a cigarette
Wonderin which of my friends will be here
Standin with their leis around my neck
Its not easy to leave again

Fallujah
The city seems a single color
Sandy tones, although heightened others
Shops of greens, blues and reds
Bullet holes in buildings, memories of soldiers dead.
The city is a wreck, mirrored on people's faces
Hatred staring at us, as our heart races
These people can't forgive and neither can we
Remembering the rounds of depleted uranium, shot on tv
As the conflict draws to an end
The Americans have left maimed
The city remains a keg of powder
And 'the base' they hold the flame.

Where The Mattagami Flows
This is the original:
It's the City of Timmins Where The Mattagami Flows
There's a place East of Sault St. Marie where I go
On hi-way eleven North of Toronto
Just past Texas Gulf's Kidd Creek Copper mine
It's the City of Timmins and South Porcupine
Go ski on the mountain the hills are just great
The ghost of Maggie will greet you at Kamiskotia Lake
The Shania Twain Center and their Gold Mine Tours
Sure proud of 'Whose Beds Have your Boots Been Under'
Chorus:
In summer the farmers rise early at dawn
Their hands tell a story of ancestors gone
They'll feed this great nation with tractors and hoes
At the the old Mountjoy Market their produce are sold
(It's the City of Timmins where the Mattagami flows)
Verse:
Now springtime is a beauty that all can behold
The leaves are a treasure of diamonds and gold
The blooming of tulips will remind us all
That the Pickerel will soon bite at old Sandy Falls
There's one forty four south to Sudbury
On the way there's Gogama Indian Territory
And the road to North Bay is a haven to me
Where grandpa came to settle in the North Country
(It's the city of Timmins where the Mattagami flows) (It's the City of Timmins the place I was born)

New York City
Standing on the corner
Just me and yoko ono
We was waiting for jerry to land
Up come a man with a guitar in his hand
Singing, have a marijuana if you can
His name was david peel
And we found that he was real
He sang, the pope smokes dope every day
Up come a policeman shoved us up the street
Singing, power to the people today!
New york city...new york city...new york city
Que pasa, new york?
Que pasa, new york?
Well down to maxs kansas city
Got down the nitty gritty
With the elephants memory band
Laid something down
As the news spread around
About the plastic ono elephants memory band!
And we played some funky boogie
And laid some tutti frutti
Singing, long tall sallys a man.
Up come a preacherman trying to be a teacher
Singing, gods a red herring in drag!
New york city...new york city...new york city
Que pasa, new york?
Que pasa, new york?
New york city...new york city...new york city
Que pasa, new york?
Que pasa, new york?
Well we did the staten island ferry
Making movies for the telly
Played the fillmore and apollo for freedom
Tried to shake our image
Just a cycling through the village
But found that we had left it back in london
Well nobody came to bug us
Hustle us or shove us
So we decided to make it our home
If the man wants to shove us out
We gonna jump and shout
The statue of liberty said, come!
New york city...new york city...new york city
Que pasa, new york?
Que pasa, new york?
New york city...back in new york city...new york city
Que pasa, new york?
Que pasa, new york?

Island Life
Come into this sacred and erotic dream
It's a world I know you wanna share
Baby, let's indulge in things that set our bodies free
Promise me that you will meet me there
Pre-Chorus
What better way then to wind down
On streets paved in harmony
I like the sexy sounds
From the DJ
Damn, I think he's spinning this one for me
Chorus:
Island in the sun
Just you and I will go
Ride into the wave like echo
When I hear that song
I wanna be with you
Headed for the nightlife echo
Verse 2:
Close my eyes and there you are in front of me
Takin' me to where I wanna go
Baby, from my little shop of curiosities
Boy I'll show you all you need to know
Come on baby
Pre-Chorus 2:
What a better way
Then to wind down
On the streets paved in harmony
I like the sexy sounds
From the DJ
Damn I think he's spinning this one for me
Chorus:
Island in the sun
Just you and I will go
Ride into the wave like echo
When I hear that song
I wanna be with you
Headed for the nightlife echo
Pre-Chorus 3:
What a better way
Then to wind down
On streets paved in harmony
I like the sexy sounds
From the DJ

Island in the sun
Just you and I will go
Ride into the wave like echo
When I hear that song I wanna be with you

I Got No Island Or A Car To Share With You
I got no island or a car to share with you
The reason is that I am a city person
And not an island person
But also I don't have a car because I don't know how to drive
So you can consider me a very boring person
And that might be true
Also you are not hurting my feelings when you tell me that

The Polulation Of Our City Is Growing
The population of our city
Is growing every year
That is because all the women in the city is giving
Birth to babies nons stop
Why don't they make it mandatory for the women
To take the birth control pill
In this city
Than the population of the city would not grow every year
And that would make sense
Because we wouldn't have to build new homes

Blue Island
Living in a world that dies within
You are they who try and touch the wind
You could be the blessed one that
Makes me love you
And doing what you've never done before
Taking every wave that hits the shore
You could be a silver star that shines
On my blue island
See you on a blue island
Take you to a blue island
You can see the rain
You can feel the pain
That no part of me is going through
Everybody say

The Big City Type
I woke up in a big city apartment
Rode to a big city job
On a big city subway
With hip, big city people
Worked at a big city job
In a big city skyscraper
Stood in a big city line
For lunch, heard big city jazz
On a big city radio station
It was like a big city scene
In a big budget movie
When I realized I had become
The big city type
I always wanted to be
Yet I was still me

Tailgunner
(harris/dickinson)
Trace your way back 50 years
To the glow of dresden - blood and tears
In the black above by the cruel searchlight
Men will die and men will fight - yeah|
Who shot who and who fired first?
Dripping death to whet the bloodthirst
No radar lock on - skin and bone
The bomber boys are going home
Chorus
Climb into the sky never wonder why - tailgunner
Youre a tailgunner
(repeat)
Nail that fokker kill that son.
Gonna blow your guts out with my gun
The weather forecasts good for war
Cologne and frankfurt? have some more|
Tail end charlie in the boiling sky
The enola gay was my last try
Now that this tailgunners gone
No more bombers (just one big bomb)
