A New Type Of Family
Theres not much for me to say anymore
You closed off my words with that opened door
Left so much undone and a flame slowly burns
Hoping for closure now I know you wont return
There's a myth in the midst of an island long forgotten
A simple fountain that holds treasures long begotten
They told you where to go and they told you lies
They told you a mean to your own demise
Why do you listen to those with no fact or face?
Leaving with no goodbye just a tightly packed case
Like a child on their first trip to the sea-side, growing expectations
To find just a simple trip to the dentist, a demonic revelation
They told you of gold and silver and eternal life
Now they train you for the arena with sharpened knives
Their lies caged you in more than a metaphorical meaning
Blindly following them to a life filled with silent screaming
More sophisticated than the street fights you are associated with
You play with the big boys now, gotta fight just to live
You have a new family now, your precious little gang
Imprinted into your very skin, tattoos and songs the guns sang

Sorry
Into each life there comes a time
When you must pay your lovers dues
Breakin out in a cold sweat
Cause youve been rightfully accused
Im not such a strong man
That love cant make me weak
Youre walkin out the door
And its hurting me so deep, so deep
And Im sorry
Sorry that I made you cry
Sorry, sorry that I told you lies
Im sorry, sorry the way we fuss and fight
Im sorry, sorry cause now youre
Saying goodbye to me
Every young boy will grow up
To then become a man
Then the difference from wrong and right
He clearly understands
Im not such a big man
That I cant break down in tears
Cause my whole body went into shock
When you told me you were out of here! out of here!
And Im sorry
Sorry that I made you cry
Sorry, sorry that I told you lies
Im sorry, sorry the way we fuss and fight
Im sorry, sorry cause now youre saying
Goodbye to me, to me
Im sorry baby, that I ever did it to you
Im sorry baby, that I ever made you cry
Im sorry baby, that I ever did it to you
Im sorry baby, that I ever told you lies
Im sorry baby, that I ever did it to you
Im sorry baby, sorry the way we fuss and fight
Im sorry baby, that I ever did it to you
Im sorry baby, so sorry
If you added up all the good times
And compared them with the bad
Youd realize that our love
Was the best you ever had
Im not such a proud man
That I wont cop a plea
See me baby girl, Im on my knees
Beggin please, baby please, baby please, oh yeah
Im sorry, sorry that I made you cry
Sorry, sorry that I told you lies
Im sorry, Im sorry the way we fuss and fight
Im sorry, sorry cause now youre
Saying goodbye to me, me baby, me baby, me baby
Im sorry baby, that I ever did it to you
Im sorry baby, that I ever told you lies
Im sorry baby, that I ever did it to you
Im sorry baby, that I ever made you cry
Im sorry baby, that I ever did it to you
Im sorry baby, sorry the way we fuss and fight
Im sorry, Im sorry, Im sorry, sorry, sorry,
Sorry, sorry (repeat)

I Told You.
I told you I’m stepping up,
I told you I’m stepping up,
And you still scream ‘order, order’,
I told you I’m stepping up,
I told you I’ve had enough,
And you still scream.
In the recollection of,
What you told me, I told her,
I bandage the wounds,
Cause I still see you hold her,
And I cry in chocolate,
But it’s not nearly so bad,
Tasteful sympathy,
So sweet and yet so sad.
I told you I’ve had enough,
I told you I’ve had enough,
And you still scream ‘Murder, murder’,
I told you I’m stepping up,
I told you I’ve had enough,
And you still scream.
Pointing fingers in my face,
Desperate solution,
Be sure to make your case,
Even with no evidence,
But be prepared to fight,
Judges orders,
Kiss your kids goodnight,
Stain them with the same lies,
I told you I’ve given up,
I told you I’ve given up,
But you still seem beaten, beaten,
I told you I’m giving up,
But you’ve been called on you bluff,
Now you scream.
Keep On Growing
I was laughing, playing in the streets,
I was unknowing; I didnt know about things.
Then he came along, but never really showed me,
I thought that love could wait.
I was a young girl. I was sure to go astray.
You walked right into my life and told me
Love would find a way, find a way, yeah.
Gotta keep on growing,
Keep on growing, gotta keep on growing.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
I was standing, looking in the face
Of one who loved me, feeling so ashamed.
Hoping, I pray the lord, that he could understand me,
And I didnt know his name.
He took my hand in his and told me I was wrong.
He said, youre gonna be all right girl,
Oh just as long, just as long...
Gotta keep on growing,
Keep on growing, gotta keep on growing,
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Baby, someday maybe, who knows where or when, lord,
Just you wait and see. let me hold you,
Together hand in hand, alone forever;
cause I want just you and me.
This time is gonna change it all, I know its true;
Our love is gonna keep on growing
And growings all we gotta do, all we gotta do, yeah.
Oh, got to keep on growing,
Gotta keep on growing, gotta keep on growing.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Gotta keep on growing,
Keep on growing, gotta keep on growing.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Gotta keep on growing, gotta keep on growing,
Staring, looking in the face of the one that loved me.
Gotta keep on growing,
Gotta keep on growing, gotta keep on growing, oh yeah,
I was a young girl,
You said love will find a way,
Love will find a way.
Gotta keep on growing...

Songs About Me, Songs About You
Well youve been movin all down that highway
You can turn another page
And if you finally get to the old folks home
Then you can finally act your age
I can make a million dollars
And you can spend it as fast as it comes
And you can sit there and cry on a bed full of lies
And be thankin that you got you some
CHORUS
Theyll be songs about me
Theyll be songs about you
Theyll be songs about everything from money to booze
But there wont be no songs of regret
Cause I aint wrote no songs like that yet
No I aint wrote no songs like that yet
You can hear me on the radio
You can see me on TV
You can dig you a hole to find your soul
And it gets you away from me
You can run as fast as an hourglass
You can fly as high as the wind
See you can be strong for as long as you like
But youll end up right back where you can
REPEAT CHORUS
I got a song for every occasion
Ive been told I got away with words
Ive been told that Id be loved forever
But its been only lies that Ive heard
Ive been bold in my days
Ive been goin my ways
Ive been packed up and moaned and gone right away
I belong to a song for as long as I say
But Ill always have a song to play
REPEAT CHORUS (2x)
No I aint wrote no songs like that yet (8x)

Telling Lies
You tell your lies unto your daughters
You told those lies unto their fathers
You tell them lies, in such a disguise
So later in years them you could deny.
You tell your lies unto your friends
You told those lies to all your men
You make up an excuse, just to confuse
So no one knows what you put them through.
You tell your lies unto your teacher
You told your lies unto your preacher
You then shed a tear, so with pity they'd hear
And also when no one else is ever near.
You tell your lies to any caller
You told your lies unto your lawyer
You say any word, though may be absurd
Even though from someone else you heard.
You tell your lies in your prayer
You told those lies to the choir
But you still will be blamed, for all the pain
As sadly you and your lying will remain.
You will tell your lies each and everyday
You will tell those lies when you get old and gray
Sadly you will tell them till, your heart beats still
But then hearing those lies no one else ever will.
You will tell your lies when you meet GOD
You will tell those lies with a pitiful nod
You will beg him again, that you did no sin
But GOD will know where you have been.
You will tell your lies when you meet the Devil
You will tell those lies as as you are at the same level
But at you he will grin, as he knows all your sin
As with you all those times he too has been.
Your daughters will sin and tell their lies
As to anyone that will listen they will also cry
As you taught them not the truth, but only how to use
So also their destiny from lies they did choose.

No One Gets The Prize
(nickolas ashford/valerie simpson)
No one, no one gets the prize
No one, no one
No one gets the prize
We were best of friends
It all began
He came in to town and changed the plan
I knew she felt, the same as me
Which one of us would it be
Just in fun, fight begun
Before long a web of hate was spun
She pretended same as me
Oh, but friends again wed never be
No one, no one gets the prize
She told him lies, and I told him lies
No one, no one gets the prize
She schemed and dreamed and told him dirt
That I was wrong for him
I told him all the boys shed hurt and I would number them
He was the ray of light that made our hearts live
But either one of us knew really how to give
So we scandalized and criticized
And then we learned how to despise
No one, no one gets the prize
She told him lies and I lied, I lied yeah
No one, no one gets the prize
No, no, no
Yeah, yeah
Back off
Tried to steal him, tried to steal him
Tried to steal him
Runnin behind my back
Tried to steal him
Tried to show him where it was at
Watch it now
No, no I wont take second place
No, no tell him to his face
We were friends for so, so, so long
Messed around, now hes gone gone gone gone
No one, no one gets the prize
No, no
No one, no one gets the prize
I wasnt alive, a love thats satisfied
No one, no one gets the prize
It wasnt fair, the love I couldnt share
No one, no one gets the prize
No, no
No one, no one gets the prize
No one, no one gets the prize
She lied, I lied, we lied
No one, no one

Most Fables
fables told at the table,
or formed in a stable,
metaphorical stories
with a moral and point
that simile and simple are unable,
to tell or spin a spell
of narrative magic,
told straight and forward
full of animals and analogies
more falacious than true,
are told to construe that naive
and simple have another view

You Told Me
By michael nesmith
You told me youd always stay, you told me!
You told me youd never stray, you told me!
All these things you said you said sincerely.
Still I am leaving you in spite of what you told me.
Ive heard things that did not match what you told me.
And of your love that would not last as you told me.
Forwarned is forearmed, it hurts, Im leaving.
I may be wrong I cant love what Im just hearing.
Times have made me shy
Of all the things youre saying
Time have made me shy
Of girls and all the games they are playing.
Someday I may see the truth of what you told me.
I may find I left too soon and that you told me.
Only things that you were honestly feeling.
I must have more to love than what you told me.
Yes, I must have more to love than what you told me.
Yes, I must have more to love than what you told me.

Stranded
She once told me not to listen
Find the answers, intuition
Follow no-one, trust your instincts
Face the world, find out it stinks
Dont come crying, dont come crying
Dont come cry to me
Im not your friend, Im just your lover
Dont put your faith, dont put your faith in me
You cut me up and rob me blind
But now Im fine
She told me about the places I could never find
She told me how to walk while by her side
Dont be fooled by teardrops
Theyre worth a thousand lies
When I saw them running down her face
I believed in her
Stranded, ah ah
Stranded, ah ah
Hit me in the gut
Like a brick through a window
Left me in the gutter like a wet news rag
Sitting alone, thinking out the times we never had
Cause you were my life
She told me if and whether
Wed spend the night together
She made so many promises
I believed in her

Kick In The Face
Sometimes its not fair
Too many lies are told
Here we go- dont blame me
What are you lying for
Dont treat me like a toy
I have been through this pain
Long before- again and again
I believe that its much too much
I only listen to my heart
Its never telling me a lie
I only listen to my heart
Like a kick in the face- sentimental lies
Like a kick in the face- sentimental lies
Dont you dare to hurt me
Its my life- and its real
Im not your fool
I will fight for my right
I only listen to my heart
Its never telling me a lie
I only listen to my heart
Like a kick in the face- sentimental lies
Like a kick in the face- sentimental lies
Like a kick in the face
Lets get right down to it
I hate the way you talk
Im leaving all the bad times
I leave it all- all for you
I only listen to my heart
Its never telling me a lie
I only listen to my heart
Its like a kick in your face- sentimental lies
Like a kick in your face- sentimental lies
Its like a kick in your face- sentimental lies
Like a kick in your face- sentimental lies

When a Child Has Been Told
When a child has been told
Never shed a tear
The small child can only
Every bow their head in fear
And hope and pray they
Don't come back to silence them
They often live in fear
They learn not to cry
When a child has been told
Keep a secret
For if they do they will be punished
For telling lies
They bow their head in fear
Hoping they will not
Come back and take their life
They learn not to speak
When a child has been told
Close your eyes
All they can do is tremble
As the touch of evil hands
Slowly destroys their soul
Never to burn again
They learn not to care
When a child has been told
No one really care's
They sit alone and ponder
Will anyone believe?
If I just spoke
If I just shed a tear
Will anyone really care?
They learn not to feel
All I ask of you now
Is let them speak
Let them cry
Because it means they are alive

Should Have Never Told Me
You should have never told me
That you love me
You should have never told me, told me, told me
That you care
Ever since that day I saw your lovely face
You were on my mind
I knew that one day I would make you love me
It was just a matter of time
Every night and every day, girl
Im thinking of you
Girl, I cant believe youre mine
Way you kiss, youre right on time
Should have never told me
That you love me
You should have never told me, told me, told me
That you care
If by chance I owned the whole world
Id give it to you
All Im trying to say
Love you through and through
Girl, lets stay together for life
cause you are my sugar and spice
Should have never told me
That you love me
You should have never told me, told me, told me
That you care
Naw, baby
Oh, baby
Should have never told me
That you love me
Should have never told me, told me, told me
That you care
Should have never told me
That you love me
Should have never told me, told me, told me

I won't be told anymore
That I've been brought down in this storm
And left so far out from the shore
That I can't find my way back, my way anymore
No I won't be told anymore
That I've been brought back in this storm
And left so far out from the shore
That I can't find my way back, my way anymore
No, I..
No, I...
Forgive that they teared down my soul
Bless them that they might grow old
A dream that's forgotten may know
That it's never too late
So many times that I've seen life before me
I searched and found the way to choose to the end
I found a way, to know, why it had to be
Mired in denial and saw all the rain
If we ever find it true
Love will have its way to choose
Three more to tame
We can be ever
I won't be told anymore
That I've been brought down in this storm
And left so far out from the shore
And I can't find my way back, my way anymore
No I won't be told anymore
That I've been brought back in this storm
And left so far out from the shore
That I can't find my way back, my way anymore

Wedded Bliss
Your world will get far worse if you are going to use that knife,
have you seriously thought of what you are about to do?
I mean this is stupid, is it the best way to begin a new life?
Your so called friend has filled your head with poisonous lies,
and I've told you many times about their lethal tongue,
but you never listened to me no matter how hard I tried.
It makes no sense to do this just because of what someone says,
you should judge me as you find me,
not on some persons words on another of their fantasy days.
Please put down the knife, do you really want to kill me?
You're obviously upset by what you have been told,
and you've already made up your mind that I'm guilty.
If there is any doubt in your mind that you have been told a lie
put down the knife right now and walk out the door,
that would be the perfect new beginning and just say goodbye.
Well, if you are leaving you'd better take your bags and things,
and if like you say you're never coming back,
you may as well take with you my wedding ring.
At least the hot tempered insults that you have thrown in the past,
along with your countless jealous accusations of betrayal,
and the dodging of missiles will finally come to pass.
Before you go, would you really have used that carving knife,
or was it just a blind to hide your latest affair,
so you could move out again for yet another new life?

Thats What You Told Me
Thats what you told me baby
Thats what you told me baby
Thats what you told me baby
You drive me crazy
I thought I was the one
When we were together
You would take me to
Another place and time that I could feel free
You were all that I was searching for
Bridge:
Thats just when i
I thought I could lean on you for life
I thought that the sun would always shine
But you took my dreams away
I remember the lies that you told me baby
Chorus:
(one) you told me you love me you need me
(two) you told me you never deceive me
(three) you told me youd always be true
(four)you told me were through, thats what you told me
Thats what you told me baby
Thats what you told me
Tell me was it fun taking my love for granted
Now Im not the one
Everything we used to share has up and gone
I dont need to tell you, you were wrong
(bridge)
(chorus)
Thats what you told me baby
Thats what you told me baby
Thats what you told me baby
You drive me crazy (x2)
Thats what you told me, girl tell me no lie
Do you want to fly super high, super dooper high
No mistakes when Im with you
Know exactly what I wanna do
Lay you down and pursue me
Im super fly, cos Im super high
When Im by your side if you like girl, tell me if you like
One, if you wanna
Two, if youre gonna
Three, time to jive
Four, five bring it live
(chorus until fade)

Grandpa Told Me So
(mark alan springer/james dean hicks)
If you dont get in the water youre never gonna learn to swim
He said a snake is just as scared of you as you are of him
He could tell by the moon when the fish would bite
Seems there was nothing that he didnt know
And as a kid I believed cause grandpa told me so
He talked daddy into letting me have my first car
I thought I was really something til becky thompson broke my heart
That first taste of love really did me in
Getting over her slow
And I knew someday I would cause grandpa told me so
He said life is made for you to live
The best love is the love that you give
Therell be times when you wanna hold on but you gotta let go
And I live by those words cause grandpa told me so
I promised him I wouldnt cry when it was his time to leave
Thats the only promise I made him I couldnt keep
He smiled from his bed and said well meet again
Somewhere down the road
And I believe cause grandpa told me so
He said life is made for you to live
The best love is the love that you give
Therell be times when you wanna hold on but you gotta let go
And I live by those words cause grandpa told me so
He said life is made for you to live
The best love is the love that you give
Therell be times when you wanna hold on but you gotta let go
And I live by those words cause grandpa told me so
Yeah and I still believe
Grandpa told me so
Grandpa told me so
I still believe
Grandpa told me so
I still believe...

Four Words From A Heartbreak
I've said
I won't cry anymore
What's the use of crying for
It doesn't change
The fact that love's a fragile thing
Like...
Monday
I was your everything
But Tuesday you had news to bring
You have to go
It's just the way somebody told me...
Chorus:
Your four words from a heartbreak (just four)
Four words from a mistake (just four)
Your four words from a heartbreak
He's leaving
It's over
Hey sorry
And goodbye
Maybe
All we have is now
Promises fade somehow
Don't tell me please
About the love we'll share tomorrow
Do you
Remember the plans we made
They're lying in the shallow grave
Next to all
The shattered dreams
Like someone told me
(Chorus)
Goodbye
Sorry
It's over
It's over
Goodbye
He's leaving
But the pain isn't over
(Chorus)

If I Told You That
Now tell me how you feel if I told
You that I have feelings for you
Ansd would it be so wrong to say
Whats on my mind
Im sorry I have to
We were friends but with time
What I feel inside for you has changed
But Id give up on love, if I thought
That it was untrue for you
(if I told you that) I wanted to see you
(and if I told you that) I beg to please you
(if I told you that) Ill always keep you
What would you say (if I told you that)
I know that we were just friends
But what if I decide to bring somethings in
I hope it wont offend the trust
We have cause I dont want this to end
I you think that well lose what we have
Then Id just rather stay (rather stay) the same
(Id rather stay the same)
Cause I dont wanna choose
Between two of the most precious things to me
(tell me)
(if I told you that) I wanted to see you
(and if I told you that) I beg to please you
(if I told you that) Ill always keep you
What would you say (if I told you that)
If we take this chance and extend
To each other romance
I hope it would be
The right thing for you and me
(if I told you that) I wanted to see you
(and if I told you that) I beg to please you
(if I told you that) Ill always keep you
What would you say (if I told you that)
Would you be there for me
Could you dare to hold me
Will my feelings leave me
Lonely if I told you

All the Jokes
All the jokes have already been told
And so instead, we tell jokes about how
All the jokes have already been told
But these new jokes aren't very funny
In fact, they're actually kind of sad
So instead we tell jokes about how
All the new jokes aren't very funny
In fact, they're actually kind of sad
Because they remind us about how
All the jokes have already been told
But these jokes get old very quickly
So we make up new jokes about how
The jokes about the new jokes about how
All the jokes that have already been told
Are starting to get quite old
But after a while, once these jokes
Have gotten quite old themselves
We sit and listen to the silence
And wonder about the past, and how
All the jokes have already been told
Then suddenly, out of nowhere
Somebody comes up with a joke
That had been forgotten long ago
But is so funny we can't even breathe
So we roll on the floor, gasping for air
