The Adventures Of Neferkitti

Tuxedo cat known to all as Neferkitti
Owns a house, we pay the mortgage
Eat, poop n’ nap her main activities
Knows many ways her pets’ enrage

~midnight Bandit~

Well it finally happened;
A raccoon sneaked in through the cat door and ate all of Neferkitti's food!
The late night bandit bolted through the cat door just as I switched on the light in the laundry room.
Now we'll need to keep the cat door closed at night and deal with Neferkitti's frustration of not being able to go out and come in as she pleases. Is this fair to the cat? Is it fair to us? Maybe the raccoon thinks it has as much right to live here as we do. Maybe it doesn't want to be a "Second class citizen" who envies the sweet deal that Neferkitti has; Free medical and dental, central air and heat, a seemingly inexhaustible supply of food, and two doting humans who apparently have nothing better to do than to cater to her every need! Talk about a welfare state! Maybe the raccoon wonders why there isn't a little more compassion for another intelligent, furry mammal whose brothers and sisters have lived in these Oregon woods a lot longer than some upstarts from Portland who moved here to be closer to nature.

Ramble Tamble

Chorus:
Move,
Down the road
I go.
Chorus
Theres mud in the water,
Roach in the cellar,
Bugs in the sugar,
Mortgage on the home,
Mortgage on the home.
Theres garbage on the sidewalk,
Highways in the back yard,
Police on the corner,
Mortgage on the car,
Mortgage on the car.
Chorus
Theyre selling independence,
Actors in the white house,
Acid in digestion,
Mortgage on my life,

Beauty Queens Don’t…

Beauty queens don’t burp, fart, poop or pee
To do so would destroy illusion of a goddess
Because Icons are not mortal like you n’ me
They’re meant to prance, preen n’ luminesce

When You See My Pup Do Poopie

Your dog bit my dachshund,
When my pup took a poop at Ben's.
I was looking into the backyard,
From a window in Ben's kitchen.

You have a rottweiler...
And my daschsund for him,
Is no competition.
That 'thing' needs to be leashed.
Muzzled and restrained!
It's obvious there's no training going on...
And I have refrained myself,
From inflicting it with my brand of pain.

Your dog bit my dachshund,
When my pup took a poop at Ben's.
If this should happen again to my pup,
I'll dropp kick that 'thing'...
And we will end as friends!
When you see my pup do poop again,
Don't smile as if you're proud
As if that is allowed...
Bring that damn thing in!

Fourth Of July Ruse

I'll be clear, and shall not linger;
Please refuse blow off your finger
With a firecracker, of shortened fuse
By knowing;
"Spreading democracy" is but a ruse,
To spread war, by White House ringer

Stewardship

you claim ownership
based on hardship, this land, this house
this car
you touch the skin of your forehead
reminding those who see you
emaciated
of the sweat and
the hairs lost

there is that time
when the car breaks down, the house
foreclosed (as it is on mortgage)
when the land does not bear
any fruit
someone takes it
you begin to read the trend
you ask how is this happening

you can't take this
you cannot breathe and sleep

someone tells you, this is life, welcome
stewards all are we, we pass, we were just visitors here
all these never for all the times
belong to us
we only discover and then
they find their own ways back
to the real owner.

Children Are Not Possessions

Your children are not your children;

They are the sons and daughters life
longing for itself

They come through you but not from you,
Though they are with you they're not possessions

You may give them your love but not your thoughts,
For they have their own thoughts

You may house their bodies but not their souls,
For their souls live in the house of tomorrow,
Which you cannot visit, even in your dreams

You may strive to to be like them,
But seek not to make them like you
For life goes backward and lingers not with yesterday

You are the bows from which your children,
As living arrows are cast forth

The archer sees the mark upon the path of the Infinite,
And God Himself fills you with His Might that His
Arrows may go swift and far

a letter from Patty and Ray

It is time for us to leave San Diego
and head back to Portland
starting on Valentines Day.

I hear it has been snowing in Portland,
I guess that rules out outdoor yoga classes.
That doesn’t sound good compared
to San Diego where it is usually sunny
and the activities included yoga,
aerobics, tennis, biking to shop,
kayaking, and fish tacos.

We have a great spot here
at Campland with a water view out front.
It is much nicer
than last year because
no one is occupying
the spots on either side of us.

We brought nicer bikes
with big baskets and racks for groceries.
The motor home only moved
once since we arrived
and all our activities
have been via bike or kayak.

When we first arrived
I hooked two ten foot sewage hoses
together and the connection failed.

We had sewage everywhere.
We called the hazmat team
but by the time
they got here the ducks had eaten
what Ray and I didn’t clean up
with newspapers.

The ducks are everywhere
and I find it annoying stepping
around duck poop.

Ray likes their personality
but I only see the poop..

Vancouver Bob came to visit us.
We had fun searching
Pacific Beach for a house
he lived in fifty years ago.

He brought the rain with him
and we realized the motor home
gets smaller in bad weather
and with each person.
Overall it has been
the best weather
I’ve ever seen in San Diego.

Ray enjoyed golfing with Bob Perry
two or three times each week.
His other golf buddy,
Malcolm died last year.

Foxy is quite the character on drugs.
She thinks she’s super dog jumping in
and out of the motor home.
Her legs fail
so we lift her now against her will.
She loves sunrise
and sunset walks on the beach
as well as begging for drugs.

Sorry this letter is so boring,
but such is life.

Hope you all have a great valentines day.

Tears Of Remembrence

After I give up this body and leave Earth,
Who’ll be standing by my cold grave?
As those left before cannot shed tears of grief
That is left to the living who long ago forgave,
The error of my ways, in this life so brief

When spirit lifts skyward, all troubles left behind
A few may shed tears of remembrance
For deeds of mine, good and kind
Unnoticed acts of little consequence

NEFERKITTI (For Cat Lovers)

Arrived rear door, sad yowling cat
Forlorn, hungry, on her we took pity
To Vet for spay ‘n buying this ‘n that
She settled in, named her “Neferkitti”

'Twas destined, she become temple cat
Our coal black friend with 4-socks of white
She brought temple offerings of mice ‘n rats
We protested, did scold, “That’s not polite”

She greets guests, sits upon their laps
Her soft purring offers gentle healing
She teaches the value of “Cat naps”
And expressing what you’re feeling

Someday stray kitten may find you
Accept the blessing, let love imbue

Jesus Is The Main Man

Jesus is the main man.
That's it.
No more comments!
Jesus is the main man.
You can zip your parted lips, now!
Jesus is the main man.
Forget those pity stops at pits.
Jesus is the main man.
This you 'must' admit, now!
Jesus is the main man.
That's it.
No more comments on it made...
To degrade or say what else may fit.
Jesus is the main man.
Know this,
And get lifted quick!
Jesus is the main man.
Understand this as best you can.
Jesus is the main man.
Commanded when you pray,
Now!
Jesus is the main man.
That's it...
No need for further comments on it!
Jesus is the main man.
He's like a gift one gets,
To share unlimited!
Jesus is the main man.
It's hard to sit still,
When something received
Is known
To be real!

In The Field Of Absence

in the field of absence
i may find you

as a flower
or a a worm

of someone else
as i stare

at the clouds
asking who owns you

and who owns me
finally i nod

at all the leaves
meeting me

someone owns
you
the western wind

no one owns me
as i decide
to fly east

where the wind
is as soft as silk

i have grown
a pair of wings

you ask
what for?

i am flying away.

you ask
why?

i have no answer
but it is this

why that moves
everything

inside me
i ask too: why?

it keeps on moving
it is silent

it is bitter
it is as deep as a

black river.

Two Houses

Yesterday's house,
where I used to live
was warm
with brick, and mellow wood.

Sounds bounced
softly
back and forth,
to blend with living words.

Yesterday's house
does not remember me.

Today's house
is cold and bleak
with steel,
and pitted stone.

Sounds clash,
as havoc reigns...
with reason
lost to madness.

Yesterday's house
is masked by time,
and clockwork hands
that can't turn back.

My body lives in today's house -
my eyes weep today's tears -
but my heart
is safe in yesterday's house
where the mortgage
is always paid.

Pop and Culture

Peeps peep on pop and culture.
People peep on pop and culture.
There's a peep on pop and culture,
With not a poop to stop.

They peep on pop and culture.
People peep on pop and culture.
There is a peep on pop and culture,
Without a poop to stop.

Lady Gaga got that pop.
People peep on pop and culture.
Taylor Swift's got Country Rock.
People peep on pop and culture.
And Kanye's a social poppa.
People peep on pop and culture.
With Beyonce and Jay-Z,
Seen on top in magazines.

Peeps peep on pop and culture.
People peep on pop and culture.
There's a peep on pop and culture,
With no poop to stop.

Peeps peep on pop and culture.
People peep on pop and culture.
There's a peep on pop and culture,
With no poop to stop.

We feed on Beatles.
Those songs of Beatles.
We feed on Beatles.
And...
Prince is there with beats.
And Michael Jackson's Pop is sweet.

We feed on Beatles.
Those songs of Beatles.
We feed on Beatles.
And Lady Gaga just rocks.

We feed on Beatles.
And they introduced this culture shock.

Peeps peep on pop and culture.
People peep on pop and culture.
There's a peep on pop and culture,
With not a poop to stop.
