Joseph knew the power of myth
This champion of archaic allegory
Storyteller, Master Wordsmith
Of magical, mythological stories

I wanted to hold onto and exploit the power of narrative. This is not only a book about a great storyteller, but there have to be stories about the storyteller.

Unicorns and Myth

Many moons ago, England had its myths,
Stories of fairies, leprechauns and unicorns,
Who lived in a mythological land,
Where mystery and magic still stand,
For the forest were dark and dangerous places,
The unsuspecting walking through their depths,
Knowing the magical creatures watching over their steps,
Protecting them from the devil that hides in the dark,
Shadows waiting in the tall trees,
But nature has always had its power in magic,
White witches harnessing nature's secret power,
The plants and trees that surround and fill the forest,
Magic and myth to be found in the dark green leaves,
For the forest contains many secrets,
Many secrets where unicorns run at the witching hour,
Or the moon sharing her secret power,
And there are many beautiful flowers,
Blooming, even in the dark,
The fairies sprinkling their magic dust,
To make mushrooms and petals grow,
The forest rich with its vast, magical beauty,
That has captured the imagination of all who see.

The Bee (Chapter 16, Verses 75-76, Holy Koran)

I ask for refuge to Allah from Satan the exiled evildoer.
In the name of Allah the Kind and the Merciful Giver.

Allah has here set forth an allegory, just consider
A slave the property of another
Therefore he has no power
On the contrary
One who is granted a handsome sustenance so he
Spends from it secretly and openly -
Are the two similar?
Praise is due to Allah
But most of the people are not aware.

And Allah has set forth anther allegory, now consider
Two persons, one of them is dumb
Unable to do anything on his own
Thus he is a burden to his master
Wherever he is sent he brings no good outcome
Can he be held equal with him, who
Has enjoined what is just
And is also on the straight avenue.

To share our stories is not only a worthwhile endeavor for the storyteller, but for those who hear our stories and feel less alone because of it.

A Requiem is Sewn

Of foam born offerings a requiem is sewn,
As the pillars of society slay our un-known champion
In what they claim as an honour of sacrificial circumstance.
Blown out of proportion, who knew? Who could have known?
That laid upon the alter stone they would find archaic angels bound.

Sometimes Poetry's More Similar to Politics Than I'd Care to Think About

O, metaphor!
O, simile!
O, allegory!
Jelly beans!
O, fable, myth!
Oh, silly me -
Disguising what
I really mean.

Women & Multi-tasking

“Women are great at multi-tasking” is just a myth!
To say they are would be the perfect crime!
“If women are so bloody perfect at multi-tasking,
Why can’t they have a headache n’ sex at the same time? ”

Science/technology surge ahead
As mind and spirit gather speed
Archaic systems left for dead
Then Will of God doth intercede

Each word breathes the breath of every soul

each word breathes
the breath of every human soul
takes the shades of every thought
for the meticulous wordsmith to sow

a clever wordsmith catches and weighs
each for propriety like a chef that examines
every ingredient to draw out the best of his trout
to apply those pigments of feelings and emotions
onto his theme that would sweep through the sea of thoughts

his canvas shows how each word has come in their best
to give credence and shine to his party for the evolution of thoughts
each word leaves with full vigour knowing that each
has done his best and learnt something about each other
and the knowledge that soon they will be having another rendevouz
in another sea where another wordsmith would try matchmaking them into another of his illuminated breath, and where they will again
take up another shade of their original personality

libido Dominandi

A Latin term known as 'Libido Dominandi'
Refers to corrupt politicians' 'Lust for power'
Who care not for the people, who elect them,
As promises from lying mouths, all too often sour
They cannot be counted on to do wats expected
Their only focus to do/say things to get elected

Shiva 2-Jothilingam-Thiruvannamalai

The holy fire vast is aghast cool
Poleless source of a soul to rule
Matted flames of a roll whole
Mounded mien dominant silence sole

Myth of mysteries truth of an allegory
Fiery defeat of Brahma, Vishnu a divine arbitrary
He is the force of macrocosmic theory
Power of allpowers a surpassing glory

Do not doubt the ism of nature
Omnipresent the Lord to venture
Fiery His blessings to nurture
At Thiruvannamalai esteemed His stature
Consorted with Unnamulai, elated our rapture

Epics Are The History

Ancient stories are held as histories;
Recent histories are built as stories.
We are misled by both about the past
And what is perceived from it is a myth.

To showcase power o'er lower castes
With lights, smoke n' cannon blasts
Whilst self-aggrandizing hegemony
"New World Order" you'd imbue
Oh, Danny Boyle...Shame on you!

MY KNOWING SOUL (Prayer)

My knowing soul;
You are a Master
A Buddha, a Jesus…

Why do I remain blind in your presence?

You are Joseph at the bottom of his well
Constantly working, but you don’t get paid
Because what you do seems trivial, like play

My knowing soul;
Crush my ego
Demolish my pride
Drown my selfishness

Help me;
Understand your value
Accept your wisdom
Be at peace
Feel compassion
Know love

(Dedicated to the brilliance of Rumi)

It's A Drug

It's a drug
My goodness, is it really?
Yes, it is.
Wow, I'm impressed.
It's got magical powers
Has it really?
What can it do?
It can turn you into a complete slave.
Really, how does it do that?
Well it's a drug.
Really, it's a drug.
Yes it is.
And it's got magical powers
It's very, very powerful
It's incredibly powerful
It has so much power
You wouldn't even believe all the power that it has
Try to imagine how much power this drug has
Can you imagine it?
I'm trying to.
It has turned people into absolute slaves
How does it do that?
Because it's a drug.
Oh I see, it's a drug
Wow, that's impressive. It's a drug
Yes, and drugs have lots of power
Once you start taking a drug you have to keep taking it
For how long?
Forever
Why?
Because it's a drug.
Drugs have lots of power
Wow do they?
Yes, lots and lots of power and once you start taking a drug you must continue
Why is that again?
Because it's a drug. It's very, very powerful
What if you don't believe in the power of the drug?
Then it has no power.
