The US military may be testing a controversial weapon that focuses microwave energy with a so-called “goodbye effect” on targets in Afghanistan, a report says.
The new system, called the “Active Denial System, ” is designed to shoot an invisible beam of high-energy waves at people, creating an intense burning sensation, AOL News initially reported on June 17.
According to some sources, the new system is still undergoing tests at military laboratories.
The focused waves quickly become intolerable and burn the skin layers, forcing the targets to disperse.

The new “nonlethal” weapon has been in Afghanistan for testing but has not been used in military operations, the report quoted an unnamed US Air Force officer as saying.
In 2008, the Pentagon considered deploying the Active Denial System in Iraq, but the effort was thwarted over policy concerns.
The US Department of Defense first admitted to the weapon’s existence in 2001 without disclosing further information about the device.

exact positions are obtained,
that we report
over a frequency hopping
two way radio system
Johnny the second in command
says that he will almost do anything
to be able to smoke a cigarette right now.
We are asked to confirm the target positions,
by another party
which is now connected to us
and we recheck and confirm
while the sound of the landing
private jet is almost deafening
and positions of other targets
and installations are asked for,
which we supply
including the control tower
and I see stars falling, falling at high speed
from the sky
making the night gleam
going off like lightning
in brilliant colors of flaming orange,
white and red
with ultra loud exploding sounds
and howitzer canon projectiles
from G5 and G6 guns are coming in,
destroying the Migs and a lucky shot
hits the commercial jet right on target
and craters are left
and the next volleys
set some of the buildings ablaze,
rips hangers open
and those deadly manmade stars keep falling,
while functioning like machines
we keep giving targeting directions.

I believe that detente was having almost the opposite effect of what was intended. What was intended was to sort of end the contest for power and to stop Soviet expansion, especially by military means and the military build-up, the military contest.
