friendship
When you sail troubled waters
I’m your oaken ship
Where you stand
I’m firmness neath your feet
When you stroll a summer’s day
I’m your umbrella, rain or shine
When you’re unhappy
I’m your circus clown
When you’re afraid
I’m a warm embrace
When you’re joyous
I’m your playmate
When you take ill
I’m a soothing balm
When Heaven calls you home
I shall be a loving archive of your life

Umbrella Man
When the sun just refuses to shine on through
And its cats and doggies all over you
You need some protection so what do you do
See the umbrella man
Go and see the umbrella man
When its raining - umbrella man, umbrella man
You can see him when its sunny, when the rain comes down
You ought to find a corner where hes always found
A reflection in a puddle, just turn around
To see the umbrella man
Go and see the umbrella man
When its raining - umbrella man, umbrella man
There are some things in life on which you can depend
Dont try to guess when itll rain again
You dont have to worry cause youve got a friend
Come see the umbrella man
I will be your umbrella man
When its raining - umbrella man
Go and see the umbrella man
Dont forget the umbrella man
When its raining - umbrella man
I will be your umbrella man, umbrella man

If Life Was A Circus
If lide was a circus
I'd be your clown,
I'd get on your pony
ride your merry-go-
round.
if life was a circus
under your big tent,
make love with you
forever
we'd be heaven spent.
if life was a circus
in your arena we would
play,
with each other forever
forever, and a day.
but life is not a circus
I am not a clown,
all I can ever do
is watch your merry-go-
round.

My Baby and the Rose
A rose tree grew by the garden wall,
And its highest blossom was just as tall
As my baby's curly head;
A lovely, fragrant, perfect rose,-
But sweeter from head to dimpled toes,
Was the baby I fondly led.
Now summer is over and winter gone,
And the winds of March are whistling on
Where the rose its petals shed;
No trace of rose perfumed and rare,
No baby face as seraph fair,
My baby sweet is dead.
The summer sun will shine again,
And 'neath the pattering, warm June rain,
Again the rose will bloom,
And so beyond these lowering skies
My baby dear, with smiling eyes,
Shall peer through earthly gloom,
And guide me with her angel hand
Through Heaven's gates,-and with me stand
Away from worldly woes,-
Where Heaven's flowers, divinely sweet,
Soften the path for weary feet
With perfume of the rose.

Closeness
Beloved, our closeness is this;
Anywhere you place your foot,
Feel my firmness beneath you
I want to be where your bare feet walk
Perhaps before you step,
You will look at the ground
I want that blessing

Before The Rain
Why do we fight?
It should be our day
Why do we shout in anger and lies?
I just want to make you happy
But now you’re gone
Leave me alone
Why do we hurt?
It’s not what we mean
Why do we always stubborn?
I just need you to care
But now clear sky
Has turn to grey
Before the rain
I’ll catch your train
Before the night shows its face
We’ll meet again
Before the rain
I’ll bring you home
Before the dark starts to swallow
I’ll beg you stay
Why do we argue?
It just simple fair
Why do we break up without a thought?
Just to satisfy our pride
And now you find
We’re such fool clown
Why do we forget?
The promise we share
Why do we avoid each other?
Afraid to admit mistake
And now regret
Begins to ache
Before the rain
Don’t end this game
Before despair changes tomorrow
I know we can
Before the rain
Give me a chance
Before the flood sweep you away
I hold you tight
Why don’t we listen?
The one who crying there
Why we restraint this feeling inside?
Like waiting who first burst and fall
What we avenge
After the storm came
Why do we act?
Like there’s nothing wrong
Why do we keep the question?
We long to hear the answer
How could we stand
In separate way
Before the rain
Disguise the pain
Before the cold freeze our heart
I’ll warm you there
Before the rain
Never stop to land
Before the sun no more to shine
We’ll be together
And then we found
We’re such fool clown

The Ship That Never Returned
On a summer's day while the waves were rippling, with a quiet and a gentle breeze;
A ship set sail with a cargo laden for a port beyond the sea.
Did she ever return? No, she never returned, and her fate is still unlearned,
But a last poor man set sail commander, on a ship that never returned.
There were sad farewells, there were friends forsaken, and her fate is still unlearned,
But a last poor man set sail commander on a ship that never returned.
Did she ever return? No, she never returned, and her fate is still unlearned,
But a last poor man set sail commander, on a ship that never returned.
Said a feeble lad to his aged mother, I must cross that deep blue sea,
For I hear of a land in the far off country, where there's health and strength for me.
Did she ever return? No, she never returned, and her fate is still unlearned,
But a last poor man set sail commander, on a ship that never returned.
'Tis a gleam of hope and a maze of danger, and our fate is still to learn,
And a last poor man set sail commander, on a ship that never returned.
Did she ever return? No, she never returned, and her fate is still unlearned,
But a last poor man set sail commander, on a ship that never returned.
Said this feeble lad to his aged mother, as he kissed his weeping wife,
"Just one more purse of that golden treasure, it will last us all through life.
Did she ever return? No, she never returned, and her fate is still unlearned,
But a last poor man set sail commander, on a ship that never returned.
"Then we'll live in peace and joy together and enjoy all I have earned."
So they sent him forth with a smile and blessing on a ship that never returned.
Did she ever return? No, she never returned, and her fate is still unlearned,
But a last poor man set sail commander, on a ship that never returned.

Bus Stop
The Hollies
Bus Stop
(Written by Graham Gouldman of 10CC)
Single release 1966
Bus stop, wet day, she's there, I say
"please share my umbrella."
On bus stop, bus goes, she stays, love grows
under my umbrella.
All that summer we enjoyed it, wind and rain and shine.
That umbrella we employed it, by august she was mine.
Ev'ry mornin' I would see her waiting at the stop
sometimes she'd shop
and she would show me what she'd bought.
All the people stared as if we were both quite insane.
Some day my name and hers are going to be the same.
That's the way the whole thing started, silly, but it's true.
I'm thinking of a sweet romance beginning in a queue.
Came the sun, the ice was melting, no more sheltering now.
Nice to think that that umbrella led me to a vow.
{interlude}
Ev'ry mornin' I would see her waiting at the stop
sometimes she'd shop
and she would show me what she'd bought.
All the people stared as if we were both quite insane.
Some day my name and hers are going to be the same.
Bus stop, wet day, she's there, I say
"please share my umbrella."
Bus stop, bus goes, she stays, love grows
under my umbrella.
All that summer we enjoyed it, wind and rain and shine.
That umbrella we employed it, by august she was mine.

Ode to the Umbrella
what inspired this poem
is mary poppins, the caring
British governor who carries
under her little pink umbrella
her warmth and the creme
de la creme of life lessons
and flies children into
home sweet home
every umbrella it has
become a metaphor to
carry off that great task
to make children laugh
warm and hearty as the
summer sky
japanese and chinese
traditional lacquered umbrellas
do that job come rain or shine
they always carry the herons,
phoenix, a beauteous ancient fairy
in her flowing grace, or bamboos,
or the moon or any other folksy
auspicious drawings to drive
away tears or fears
even the emperor needs
umbrella for graces from the heavens
it was of first quality silk
yellow, and always with lithe
and steel scaled dragons
to shield him from misfortune
of any kind
the modern day umbrellas
they are collapsible, of plastic,
rayon, and usually plain
black, green, blue, purple
every colour given its
opportunity to shine
their job is carry away the sky
when it is not friendly, letting her
sun all out in the open
or giving her clouds so much
freedom they let out cats and dogs
leaping and gambolling into our gardens
the best umbrellas are
those large enough to
keep two star crossed lovers
away from the sights of gossipers
letting them kiss and only their
legs and clothes to keep us
guessing who they are
the umbrella too can be
that life saver, keeping away
the muggers, or that fierce dog
as old granny does her morning
round to tone up her days

Beneath The Face of A Clown
My mother’s uncle was a circus clown
forever tripping up and falling down.
A circus performer through and through
who would try anything they asked him to.
With a tiny umbrella attached to his hat
and a blonde haired wig under that.
A huge red nose that he honked so loud
always brought a smile from the crowd.
Apart from that he never made a sound,
but the humour button he always found.
He made the most timid of children smile
by sharing his talent for just a little while.
But beneath the face of this funny clown
was one of anguish, sadness, and frown.
A tragic event struck the funny man’s life
whilst performing with a throwing knife.
A hooded assistant attached to a turning wheel;
her shout of okay released the knife of steel.
A gasping audience watched it cut through the air…
yells and cries witnessed the death of her.
A lapse of concentration, a hesitant troubled mind,
an unfortunate twist of fate that was so unkind.
It was then he discovered that his throwing knife
had found the heart of his newly wed wife.

Come Rain Or Come Shine (feat. B.B. King)
I'm gonna love you
Like nobody's loved you
Come rain or come shine
High as a mountain and deep as a river
Come rain or come shine
Well I guess when you met me
That it were just one of those things
Don't you ever bet me
Cause I'm gonna be true if you let me
Oh you're gonna love me
Like nobody's loved me
Come rain or come shine
Happy together unhappy together
Won't that be fine
Day may be cloudy or sunny
We're either in or we're out of our money
I'm with you always
I'm with you rain or shine
You're gonna love me
Like nobody's loved me
Come rain or come shine
Happy together unhappy together
Won't that be fine
Day may be cloudy or sunny
We're in or we're out of our money
I'm with you always
I'm with you rain or shine
Rain or shine
I'm with you always
I'm with you rain or shine
