True

She said the most hurtful things
words painful piercing
torment torture ringing

And I wish I that were
obliviously unaware

Only because
I know such
in part for share
to be true

Sestina - Safe Hands

I enfold her as if I hold in my hands
A diaphanous shawl woven loosely
From silken skeins of hope and fear. I feel
Strongly, she’s so much part of me. Obliviously
She wriggles free. I glance at my daughter
Her mum, and marvel at inheritance.

I wrap all this stuff of inheritance
Into trust, quietly hoping the safe hands
Of my kindly, compassionate daughter
Will suffice. Experience tells me loosely
Held reigns are best. The child plays obliviously.
I watch. She echoes in me. Trembling I feel

The pain inevitably she will feel.
I fear quietly; knowing her inheritance;
The curse of memory. Now obliviously
She recalls careless conversation. Hands
On to me stray words, understood loosely
With looks I try to forewarn my daughter

But the treacherous trait has skipped. My daughter
Down to earth, sensible, is born not to feel
Hurts that haunt, doubts that linger loosely.
If only we could choose the inheritance
We bequeath. But it is out of our hands,
We make love, create life obliviously.

I say nothing, pretend obliviously
Disguise fears I dare not share. My daughter
Who loves her, is all she needs. Holding hands
We walk through bustling, crowded streets. I feel
Her tiny linked fingers. The inheritance
Of knowing held gently within mine, loosely.

The web of my life was woven loosely
I held fast to no-one. Obliviously
This child makes me unearth an inheritance
Painstakingly hid. Bonded by my daughter
To my granddaughter tenderly I feel
Burning passions branded into our hands.

Envoi

I held her loosely, I let my daughter
Feel, obliviously unaware of my
Inheritance, she unbinds my hands

Words Are As Deadly As A Gun

Words are the most painful thing known to man
sometimes not meaningful
but always hurtful
more deadly than a gun
and they sometimes only meant to be abit of fun
they begin with a disagreement
but they always lead to one persons torment
and for sure they always end with regret
thats when u should look to god and forgive and forget
life is hard without making it hard for eachother
soo love thy neighbour and treat them like a brother
causee mistakes are made
soo lessons can be learned
pleasee dun leave your broken heart burnt
i didnt mean wht i said it was just abit of fun
i really didnt want to end ur life witha a gun

Would u go back in time

Would you go back and relive painful times?
Would you go back when times weren't in line?
The hurt and pain of death?
The happy time when you first got your pet?
Would you go back when nothing went together,
Nothing rhymed, and nothing was forever?
Going back in time would unbury hurtful things.
Going back in time would show your success was once a dream.
Would you go back to say 'Good-bye'?
Would you go back to say 'Hi'?
Do you believe by going back things would be better?
Do you think you can go back and destroy hurtful letters?
The past should be left in the past and sometimes forgotten,
and the future may become even more shocking.

Seneca

What I advise you to do is, not to be unhappy before the crisis comes…some things torment us more than they ought; some torment us before they ought; and some torment us when they ought not to torment us at all. We are in the habit of exaggerating, or imagining, or anticipating, sorrow.

What To One Is Truth

The truth can be hurtful when spoken without ruth
But then suppose the truth it is the truth
And one lie leads to another it is said
And deceit can only live where truth is dead
But what to one is truth to another is not so
Why this should be you ask one who might know
You ask some how good is that and they say great
Whilst others answer only second rate
We all do look at life quite differently
And what's true to you may not be true to me
Though what's true to me may not be entirely so to you
To the higher self we should try to stay true
And though it's praises we may like to sing
The raw truth it can prove a hurtful thing.

Giving Up (The Last Script)

Long ago I wrote a script
About how I hate to write,
It is called A Cursed Gift
You will find it on this site.

About how I hate finding the words
That hurt me deep within my heart,
How I want this skill to end right now
Leave my hand, let us part.

How I hate to write about love
And how the pain follows near,
How I never want to find the words
The painful words I deathly fear.

I really don't want to love again
So I can avoid the following break,
I said I was tired of finding words
'In which I write as I shake.'

Love is cruel with hurtful pains
But writing it is the worst,
I'm giving up on all of it
Love, pain, and gift so cursed.

Happiness

Can you tell me what I like to hear
all the things that bring to my ear
joyous thoughts, pleasing words
that makes me feel like everything's right
within my world that I hold dear?

Can I close ny eyes and never see
all the things that bring to me
painful scenes, hurtful sights
that makes me feel like everything's wrong
within my world that's dimmed the lights?

Can I breathe in all the sweet aromas
of all the things to remind me where home is.
Pine and cedar, salty sea air
that makes me feel like there is nowhere
within my world that brings such bliss?

If I can hear the things I love
and I can always stay above
all the things that make me sad
and I can inhale the scents I've had
within my world to remind me of
my inner self?
Then happiness is mine.

Art of Share

Food of soul, wave of smile
Kiss of dream, fire of will
Cry of happiness, feather of hope
Share a part of your emotion

To family, to stranger
To lover, to flamer
To the superstar, to the poor
Share a part of your affection

Bedtime story, respect recipe
Hidden plea, open sea
Living fantasy, world sympathy
Share a part of your thought

With sincerity, with motivation
With sacrifice, with self proof
With energy, with goody
Share a part of your own

Long experience, piece of friendship
Faith support, courageous words
Inspiration window, freedom way
Share a part of your action

From similarity, from difference
From the joy, from the pain
From your favor, from your lack
Share a part of your strength

Because we need somebody else
Because we want to make them happy
Because we could learn to be better
O parent, teach kindness to the children well!

Share Your Love

Maurice white & garry glenn
Love is the light, gonna let it shine
Living each day, youre sure to find
Another heart thats warm and true
Shining the light in return to you
Share your love, dont try to restrain it
Love, dont need to be afraid to
Love, everybody get together
Let every heart, around the world
Do its part
The voice of love, ringing loud and clear
To every heart with a listening ear
Hostage of hate and these chain of fear
Send dr. love, they will disappear
Share your love, dont try to restrain it
Love, dont need to be afraid to
Love, everybody get together
Let every heart, around the world
Do its part
Youre number one, cause deep inside
Feelings still abide
Youre number one, you light the way
Night becomes the day
Youre number one, cause we feel its true
Yes, inside we do
Youre number one
Share your love, dont try to restrain it
Love, dont need to be afraid to
Love, everybody get together

Well, It Worked For Me

First thing I say each night
is
I am my own Lover;
my own best friend.

At first it was words
I did not mean
but over time
I could fill in detail
from little things
that happened each day.

Something positive to celebrate
no matter how small
a smile
a thing small but done
a sincere feeling
given and received.

Busy, I was
saying to my self
each night
building
the person
I want to become.

I added to this
just a small dream list
and acted as though
part of it was true
or coming true
and I found
done each night
my part wish
part recognition
of my small things day
could make part
of my small dreams
also come true.

So over time
I could become
not only Someone
but I could be
the kind of person
I was looking for.

Up To You

Downtown is where it all went down
Getting up with nothing to do
Don't know what street I lived on
And I'm not sure I ever knew
Well it goes on I've got more to tell
Can't promise you that it's all true
It's up to you to figure out
Which part is true
Now anxiety has arrested me
And it's hard to tell what gets me through
But I do recall many things I've seen
And worst of all I think it's true
It's up to you to figure out
Which part is true
Wish I would have stayed in bed that day
And this memory would be there to
Now I can't make it go away
And that's why it must be true
It's up to you to figure out
Which part is true

Departure

So long old friend,
It has been fun
But my work here is done.
To watch you grow
And get to know
The man you have become.

Wherever you walk
And whenever you talk
Part of me is there.
And wherever I go
You too should know
That a part of you I share.

The part of you that made me laugh
Through all the memories we have.
The things that made us mad
The pain that made us cry
Yet, alas, old friend
It is time for me to say goodbye.

Now, we part in separate ways
And with others spend our latter days.
Still in your wealthy memory
Let others see that part of me;
The part of me you'll always have,
The part of me that made you laugh.

Fate has made us one somehow,
It is she who separates us now.

In time you'll see, much of you is me
Our friendship thus was true
And before I go, the world will know
How much of me is you.

People who don't know me have opinions about me. That's the part that's very hurtful. Because how do you form an opinion about somebody if you've never met them or spent any time with them? So it's all based upon hearsay or things that they've read.

Angels Unaware

Words & music: michael w. smith & wayne kirkpatrick
Maybe there's a light in my soul
Maybe it flickers like a neon sign outside an abandoned hotel
Maybe there are things you just can't know
But can you say there are no mysteries in the house you choose to dwell
Maybe we are entertaining angels unaware
Maybe there's a place where we will fly
But some say god is dead like nietzsche said and faith has made me a fool
But maybe there is more than meets the eye
Who's that stranger there beside you? don't be smug and don't be cruel
Maybe we are entertaining angels unaware
Battles of the heart and of the mind
We stay caught in mental purgatory 'til our existence can be defined
Meanwhile on the shores of parallel
There may be a holy conference held somewhere discussing all mankind
Maybe we are entertaining angels unaware
I say maybe we are entertaining angels unaware
Angels unaware
Soaring, somewhere, longing, reaching
Searching, knowing, loving, caring
Let me take you by the hand
Lead you to the promised land
And trust him with your heart
He'll lead you home

The Truth It Can Be Hurtful

I may not like what you say of me but if of me you speak the truth
Though the truth it can be hurtful if it is not spoken without ruth
The truth cannot defame me if of me the truth you say
And if the truth taints my character well that too is okay.

But if you tell lies about someone and know them to be lies
Then the dislike I'd feel for one like you i barely could disguise
For lies can be defamatory when used in such a way
Any respect to a malicious liar i would find hard to pay.

The truth it can be hurtful as we all ought to know
But out of the truth it can be said respect for one does grow
And though you may not like what's said about you at least what's said is true
And to the one who speaks the truth credit is always due.

The truth it can be hurtful but the truth is never wrong
And those who cannot accept the truth mentally cannot grow strong
And though for some the truth is poison they'd rather live a lie
The truth lives on forever and the truth will never die.

My Last Word

My last word You will hear.
With this hope
I still exist on earth.
Let me dance in Your Heart always,
In the nights of sorrow and in the days of joy.
I feel that the torture of happiness is more painful
Than the torture of sorrow,
For when I am in joy I forget You;
I hurt your heart.

Hurtful Hours

So many hurtful hours
until I'll hear your voice.
Just seconds, just seconds
that would be my choice.

The wait is long. The wait is hard.
It's so very tough.
And when I finally hear from you
the minutes are not enough.

I sit on pins and needles
and let the time go by.
Sometimes I get weepy.
I try hard not to cry.

'Cause crying is a hurtful thing
and is no help to me.
So I dry my tears and wait for the phone
to bring sweet peace to me.

Speak to me. Speak to me.
Tell me what I want to hear,
that those hurtful, hurtful hours
are the same for you, my dear.

Words Sometimes Take On A Own Meaning

Words sometimes take on a own meaning
and sometimes they are sharp and painful
as if there is much more to words

as if a kind of secret knowledge hides in them
that are sometimes something moving.
Words sometimes take on a own meaning

but somehow words can at times miss things
and are sometimes dependent on feelings
as if there is much more to words

when through it all love brings a kind of bonding
and so you and I are attractive to each other.
Words sometimes take on a own meaning

and daily a bond develops between us,
while you become more considerable to me,
as if there is much more to words

you constantly live in my thoughts,
while love becomes real through words.
Words sometimes take on a own meaning
as if there is much more to words…

If There Was Forever

What would life be like
If the promises of forever
Like time or existence
Outlived our spoken words.

With the parrots we marry
We will live for eternity
The quarrels and arguments
Which are often silly
Will become part of us.

Those married to hyenas
Must get used to their appetites
Or take that to be the norm.
Food will always be ready
It’s good if she’s greedy!

Those tied to cats
Will have to pamper them
They’ll be shopping daily
And who can ask for more?
Men like shopping after all!

Its good there’s no forever
Because if there was
It will be torment after
Torment, fight after fight.
God is certainly a man!

Alimony Apart

Sometimes love dies.No one’s to blame
but it is painful just the same.
To lose the love that once you knew
but there is little you can do

When you mature at different rates.
One pressing on one hesitates,
the rift develops so slowly.
It takes a while before you see.

The love you shared has truly gone
and you are ready to move on.
The time has come for you to part
Which you accept with heavy heart.

Some couples find that when love ends
it’s possible to part as friends
but only if they both agree
to share their assets equally.

Most couples don’t they cannot see
there’s no need for acrimony.
They can’t regain what they have lost.
Its only fair they share the cost.
