Birthday Presents

Mine Beloved's birthday
shrinking feeling tad bit guilty

ours a tentative pencil arrangement
circumstantial conditions affording

and you radiant as ever
sun dress gleam-beam brilliant beauty

clearest light flood Julian day
sublimest nightshade
draw blind sway way

double-wrapped present presents
privy dreamy dusk musky perfume play

and how you never cease
confound astound me

beauteous beneficent baffling being
every woman and then some

we the wise of tact and discretion
convention's demand so laden

contain conduct ourselves accordingly
upon such journey's returning

the young couple
beside us on the shuttle

stupid cupid coddle cuddle
shameless belligerent ebullience bursting

parting snicker I crack upon leaving
brittle mask dam-burst thirst envy

all the while privately knowing
harbour savouring

your scent stamp floral trail intoxicant
incense rapture retrieving
vaulted treasure marking me

i will wait another day
perhaps two
before showering

Rose For A Rose

A rose for a rose
That is all that I can say,
As I present, the flower to you.
You can look upon its beauty
As I have looked upon yours,
Now you know the turmoil I go through.
As the beauty of the rose,
I thought it second to none,
Until that day that we met.
Now to me the rose is just a flower,
And its aroma is but a scent,
And raindrops, are tears I have wept.

A rose for a rose,
A masterpiece for the painter,
That is what, I am giving you.
You may gaze upon this flower
You can close your eyes and wish
And now the rose is wishing upon you.
Your skin is that of silk
Your beauty is that of mine eyes,
And your soul is that of the free wind.
So now I present you the rose,
As a man presents GOD his soul,
And know you’ll know where I have been.

Immortalize

So how shall we immortalize?
I ask her with this face
School-boy gleam giddy

Talent, potential
augmented with
her very own, “perhaps”
dangles for follow

Text
draw or paint for sculpting?
intimate as evasive I
literate searching

tug tension tearing
tension indecisive
lends word for earing:
She the Master ever in training

(dare I steal her word for ask?)

“Let us keep this moment for last,
suspending perhaps... “

Fruit Of The Tree

And there is this moment
of thousand petaled moments
brilliantly veiled obsidian sights

ageless of ether
impermeable aethers
breaching space splayed
petals' rude sand grain swayed

let us bite the pomegranate's pollinate
savour lush fruit blushing ripe pregnant night

let it lend us to stealing
gleefully squealing
lavishly laughing
ultraviolet's limelight

let us bite the pomegranate's pollinate
savour lush fruit blushing ripe pregnant night

let us sift unforgiving
bending the barring
sow resplendence
breathe musk sweet dusk bright

But there is this moment
of precious petaled moments
delicious viscous
audacious auspicious

so let us bathe in abandon
sublimest defiance
and fashion our fortunes
with dawning delights

Menno Krant's Cuttings

I have witnessed a host of emulators
Sycophantic emphatic fanatics
Invariably they'd arrive ever so early
For your show openings at the Pteros Gallery

Trench coat incognito discreto
Dark sunglasses eye-stalk hungry

Those with the courage to stray
(could see them coming from miles anyway; -)

Stragglers from some secretive entourage
Occulted thirst envy junkies

I would leave them to their own very
Respective poaching privy in the gallery

Studiously drooling duly noting
Deconstructing your diamond cuttings

Swiftness sweeping stealthily
Windswept cloaken arrival leavings

Can't say that I blame them
Refusing the registry
For they were not buying
Nor culture hopping

Your impossible pace they were only
Simply keeping vying

Stealing the shavings
crystalline savings

Your gem stellar sacred
Incomparable imitable shining jewellry

Bulletproof Cupid

Everything's forgotten
Everything's so rotten
Why don't you release me?
Why don't you just tease me?
I don't think I need you anymore
I don't think I need another whore
I just feel like you should wait
Time will tell before it's too late
When all is said and done you
Just ain't no fun to be with
You're my bulletproof cupid
You're my little stupid
You're my fluctuated
You're my inspector gadget
You're my new toy to play with
You're my toy boy to be with
You're my bulletproof cupid
Just a little too stupid
Everything is taken
Everything's awakened
Why don't you reject me?
Why don't you just infect me?
I don't think I want this anymore
I don't think I want another whore
I just feel like we should wait
Time unfolds then it's too late
When all is said and done you
Can't be the one to run with
You're my bulletproof cupid
You're my little stupid
You're my incarcerated
You're my fortune faded
You're my new tool to play with
You're my new fool to be with
You're my bulletproof cupid
Still that little bit stupid

Low tide at st. andrews

(NEW BRUNSWICK)

The long red flats stretch open to the sky,
Breathing their moisture on the August air.
The seaweeds cling with flesh-like fingers where
The rocks give shelter that the sands deny;
And wrapped in all her summer harmonies
St. Andrews sleeps beside her sleeping seas.

The far-off shores swim blue and indistinct,
Like half-lost memories of some old dream.
The listless waves that catch each sunny gleam
Are idling up the waterways land-linked,
And, yellowing along the harbour's breast,
The light is leaping shoreward from the west.

And naked-footed children, tripping down,
Light with young laughter, daily come at eve
To gather dulse and sea clams and then heave
Their loads, returning laden to the town,
Leaving a strange grey silence when they go,--
The silence of the sands when tides are low.

Perfect Gentleman

my finest coat flung over puddles
innate instinctual offerings

all without blinking
slightest of thinking

to spare you such unseemlies

guarding your delicate
diamonds of dignity

valiant umbrella valet ballet
escorted doors opening
with careful chair pulled seating
attentive tailored table dining

considerate discretion
not to mention
timeless chivalrous courtesies

rarest of women you so worthy
arm-candy haute coture carry

I pamper accordingly so befitting
do so relish as be willing

escalator etiquette two steps
above
as well
directly ahead of me

ravishing regal leading lady
elevation rising
temperature climbing

how I steal your
rarefied view

Hmmhhh...
simply breathtaking
you...

between muffled gasps
refined affections discerning

time once more to reward myself
social graces affording

Little Bit Stupid

You stole a wig from your sister
And a gun from your dad
I geuss i knew when i kissed ya
You're a little bit mad
You don't care if you get sick
Living on bubble gum
Maybe too much lipstick
Made your mouth go dumb
I have to say that we were suited
But you know what they say about Cupid:
Little bit stupid
Little bit stupid
So we got ourselves messed up
And we did it with style
And the way we were dressed up
Was a little bit wild
Stack heels and tiaras
We were oh so refined
Or maybe too much mascara
Made my eyes go blind
I don't know if we were deluded
But i know what they say about Cupid:
Little bit stupid
Little bit stupid
I guess to do what me and you did
You have to be just a bit like Cupid:
Little bit stupid
Little bit stupid

Airports

You can always tell the staff from travelers
by pace demeanor and dressing
those leaving
bright bouncy beaming
effervescent 'thusiasm bubbly

arriving disheveled disoriented
discombobulate relieving

Stranger still are sorted strangers
best chum company coordinating
mindless conversation even sounds interesting

...anything for entertaining

But I like the bar
with it's wide window view
runway traffic take-off terrific

And my by far fantastic favourite
what surely sends me airborne claps

...are the skycaps:

smart slinky uniform stewardess

those to whom I ever tip my hat
bearing 12 o'clock mile high blasting-off
belligerent boisterous beaming smirking brat

Air France has me arriving

Garden

We planted a gemmed garden
without regard for season
opiate orchid perfume lace
marble pomegranate peacock grace

and there was halogen hemlock
amaranth ambrosia lotus therein
with arsenic sprinkling ripe Rose of Sharon

we tended
fashioning opulent garlands
daisy chained
gracious luscious lavalieres
with such we so oblivious
as all-too the cavalier

but winds do sway
as flourish fades way

tension's tender tendrils
twist mist turning photosynthesis

but the bees butterfly romantic
sublimest gratuitous serpents
serendipitous

strange stewardship ours exquisite
such so immaculate symbiotic

and so I yearn burn
still beg of you
exhaust me such and so utterly
letting...

superficial as sublimely supernal
loose leaf letters
let loose eternal

we knew how it would end
and this must play itself out
organically

with modest plots afforded
it should be no surprise

a bounty of very own making
needed such sparsest of tending

as weathered hearts
betray threat of withering
our spacious gracious garden
now outgrown any seeding

the dandelions reach climbing

kiss me on the forehead
throat and heart

I vomit voluptuous fertilizer
as you leave blossom
fullest blooming

I wait for the night

I wait for the night
To see the dark sky
Embedded
With twinkling stars
The cool moon
Showering soothing light
I wait for the night
To cuddle in the bed
Under a soft blanket
Close my eyes
Forget the tiredness
Restore my energy
I wait for the night
To have a sound sleep
See sweet dreams
Spent the night
In the land of fairies
I wait for the night
To ask myself
What wrong
I did in the day
To promise myself
Not to repeat it
The next day

A Poet Should Be

A poet should be romantic as spring
chocolate and cherry
mellifluous honey
drinking day-lit blossoming

Yet a poet should be
suspicious jaded wary
deepest indigo sour wine poison
ice blister winter night scathing

A poet should be loving
beyond bewildering
passionate so jealously

A poet should be spiteful
boisterous unbecoming
belligerent as unseemly

A poet should ever enjoin
engage the reader
emphatic empathic
paving pathos
ever so eternal
most intimate
enduringly
