Racial Abuse

The Aussies might practise racial abuse
on those who in public places embrace and kiss.
To kick and punch the brown they seem resolute
from stopping them, the rhythm of life, they pollute.
It is not charming if the black show the bikini-lines.

At times, some vandals break in the zoos
slaughter the birds and animals,
shut in enclosures, curtailing the freedom
and walk to home carrying these eatables.
They are good foodies of hamburgers and wines.
How long they eat surfeiting fork in all the foods!

The Aussies amaze at the Chinese
working in lap-tops and doing electronic goods.
How swift-footed in markets and hotels!
The Aussies seek perfection of the Chinese
in looting the gold medals in the Olympics.
Could the secrets slip out of those hearts?

On The Retirement Of Ian Thorpe

I heard on the radio in the sports news today
That Ian Thorpe the great swimmer has give competitive swimming away
A winner of nine Olympic medals five of them gold
Of his greatness in story and song we've been told
Australia's greatest ever swimmer if not the World's best
He was never found to be wanting when put to the test
But at twenty four years he said enough for me
At the World Championships and the Olympics him we'll never more see
At the prime of his life one might say a young man
But at top competitive swimming top swimmers do not have a long span
In the World of swimming he is an all time great
And his world Championship and Olympic victories Aussies did celebrate
A world renowned swimmer since he was a boy
And life after competitive swimming may he now enjoy.

A Muse From The Forest

The white gold,
The black gold,
The red gold,
The yellow gold,
'Obroni-Nephew' is about to teach you all;
Like the very call of a muse from the forest.

The Chinese eat all animals, fish and insects;
The very call from the forest with a view but,
Do you like to be fed with crocodile meat?
The lizard meat,
The lion meat,
The tiger meat,
The snake meat,
The elephant meat,
Life is like that for many who eat everything;
The Chinese eat all animals, fish and insects.

Life is like a visit to the biggest cemetery on earth,
Do you like to be fed with cockroaches?
Whatever we eat today,
We will be burried one day.
Of the brown gold,
Of the orange gold,
Of the green gold,
Of the blue gold,
The Chinese eat all meat, fish and insects.

Lounge Bar

Lounge Bar
A rock group was beating the drums
and playing the guitars to a song of an Audio Player.
A dancing pair was raising the level of verve and
shaking the feet were the whites and blacks,
with a glass of wine or beer in one hand
and the other hand hugging the partner.
The young and the old relax and eat cakes and snacks.
They watch footies, horse-race and grandprix in a wide screen.
They take a sip and move with rhythm in close embrace.
The happy sellers of drinks and snacks too rock in glee.
Black and white but stout nude pictures come and go
and sounds of laughter have their echoes
And spill out through the small entrance.

See there in Madras, my country men,
emptying bottles of hot rums and brandhis,
and when the kick rises, break the glasses,
braying fierce cries, pull knives and stab
their fellow drunken men in brawls,
and stroll, stumble and lie on the murky road.
No music is in need to swirl their bodies
and throw away their dresses one by one.
They blare their own vulgar songs
and bask in dark or in moonlight.
That is my Chennai and this is Aussie Melbourne.
They pick pockets of others, waylay the unwary,
to snatch chains and be engaged in petty thefts,
and at times strangle the old for gold,
to fund their visits to bars. But the Aussies
take a peck and get into the library to browse.

Chinese Girls

(jack hues)
A star is shining
Into my eyes
It will not fall
A star is wise
Across the harbor
Perfumed hills
The silent waters
And all is still
Oh yeah
Chinese girls stand, see right through you
Chinese girls can sway
Chinese girls will melt your heart
And take your breath away
Chinese girls would dance with god
Chinese girls dont care
Put their hands around their heads
And through their chinese hair
She is not moving
She does not talk
Birds in her hair
Where she walks
And when she gazes
Theres a pearl
I will not forget
My chinese girl

Kick It In

Love gives me poetry
Stays up all night and puts a curse on me
Oh anything you want
Turn around and Ill take you there
I know its going to be
Take your shackles off o me
This citys gone, Im gone over there
Kick it in, kick it in
Build it up and burn it down again
Kick it in, kick it in
Burn down to the ground
Kick it in, kick it in
Tell me about this place youve been
I dont want it theres a fever going around
Take a walk down town
See whats going on
If you want to find a hidden key
Theres nothing here on me
Any city, anywhere
Any colour I dont care
You belong to me
And thats the way its gonna be
Kick it in, kick it in
Yeah kick it in, kick it in
Raise it up and let it live again
Feel your body shake and take off
You can lie but keep it in
Keep me down here wondering
So whats it going to be
Come on in
I like the shape youre in
You keep me wondering, wondering, wondering
Eyes upon you black and brown
Spread your love all over town
Give me fire, body heat
Say hello to me
I want to go anywhere
Any colour I dont care
Dont believe in all you see
And dont get caught
Kick it in, kick it in
Tell me about this love youve been
Kick it in, kick it in
Turn this life around
Kick it in, kick it in
Shake the ghosts from deep within
Close the door down
Dont let the demons in
Kick it in, kick it in
I only want to be your friend
Put your hands in my hand
And take off with me
Listen baby, Im going home
Im going home
Im going home
Come on walk with me
Cause I know what I see
Kick it in
Kick it in, kick it in
Tell me bout the place youre in
Ive got a new gold dream
Im moving on, Im moving on
Youre moving on, youre moving on
Youre moving on, yeah
Kick it in, kick it in
Im moving on

Chinese Rock

Somebody calls me on the phone
Say hey-hey-hey is Arty home
You wanna take a walk
You wanna go cop
You wanna go get some Chinese rock

I'm livin' on a Chinese rock
All my best things are in hock
I'm livin' on a Chinese rock
Everything is in the pawn shop

The plaster fallin' of the wall
My girlfriend cryin' in the shower stall
It's hot as a bitch
I should've been rich
But I'm just diggin' a Chinese ditch

Chinese woman

When your eyes,
Meet mine,
You smile,
So fine.

The thought
Of being with you,
Excites me,
It’s all I wanna do.

Chinese woman,
I love you,
Chinese woman,
Why don’t you love me too?

Chinese woman,
Don’t go far away,
Chinese woman,
Why don’t you stay?

Every time,
You see me,
I try
to be funny.

I don’t understand,
You laugh and smile,
Yet I don’t hear from
You in a while.

Chinese woman,
I love you,
Chinese woman,
Why don’t you love me too?

Chinese woman,
Don’t go far away,
Chinese woman,
Why don’t you stay?

Days come
In and out.
Still I have
To shout.

Just so you
Look at me.
Just so you
Can see…

Chinese woman,
I love you,
Why don’t you love me too?

Chinese woman,
Don’t go away,
Why don’t you want to stay?

With me.
Chinese woman.

China Town Work Ethic

China Town has many more business's I do say
because hard working Chinese people made it that way.
Having a good work ethic that made America strong
Chinese Americans work their business hours extra long.
Now I do patronize a Chinese Health food store
I bought herbs there and they gave me health advice galore.
So Thank the Chinese people for bringing customs and expertise
for they too have right to live the American dream.

Who's Stopping You

Take all that you've got
Multiply by zero
Divide by the time you've got left
That's x

Add it up write it down tell me what you've found

We're speaking in tongues
Both of us dumbfounded
Our brains have been impounded by our hearts

Life is so uncertain
Look at all the hurting that we've done
You said you had somebody better to become

Who's stopping you
Who's stopping you
Who's stopping you
Who's stopping you

We're wasting our time
Watching our old reruns
Waiting for the good one that never comes

You say it beats working
On the emptiness that's lurking inside your head
Step into the light my friend

Who's stopping you 4x

You said you had somebody better to become

Who's stopping you 8x

Merry Retirement

I am a low rank official in the government;
Who soon arrives at the age of retirement.
Exercise is my routine in morning and evening.
I take a noon rest in the bed for meditating.
At times, I practise calligraphy with a Chinese brush.
Computer is used to amend my verses not in a rush.
Chanting poem makes me very happy.
My black hair turns grey but I do not worry.

They are here to show us and kick

They are here to show us and kick against this idea because they've got no fear

They are here to show us and kick against this idea

The Blueshell Bar

From Monday through to Friday and,
For some, on the weekends too,
There’s a constant round of students here
Attacking the Chinglish stew,
They sweat on the riddle of English tense,
Of gender, of verb and noun,
But Friday nights and their teachers here
Are ready to hit the town.

In old Wenzhou, Canadians,
The Poms and the Aussies rule,
New Zealanders with their flattened vowels,
And Yanks with their godamm drawl,
The Scots are there with the Sassenachs
Their vowels like treacle glue,
‘If ye’ dinna gae doun tae the Blueshell, man,
I’ll nae hae a drink wi’ you! ’

For after a week of adjectives,
Blank faces and wo bu dongs,
They’re ready to slip their traces, and
Retreat to the restaurants,
Their prepositions are shelved at last
With a proposition or two,
Then they all go down to the Blueshell Bar
Where it huddles off Wendi Lu.

From ten o’clock to the early hours
They scramble for space at the bar,
The music’s played at a surly scream
Or drops to a sullen roar,
There’s Chinese faces as well in there,
And girls with a shapely rear,
All perched on stools with the foreign fools
While swilling the local beer.

And down the back there’s another room
Where the groups philosophise,
Over a ‘Jack’ or a Vodka, man,
They talk of their loves and lives,
And over the mumble of bleary talk
A voice rings out at the brink:
‘The world is screwed, it’s over man...
It’s time for another drink! ’

‘It’s time for another drink, ’ he says,
And slams a Tequila down,
A ‘Jack’, a Bacardi One-Five-One,
A bottle of old Tsing Dao,
‘I loved her, man, but I let her go...’
I hear as I hit the street,
And stagger home in the early hours...
‘Are you coming back? ’
‘Next week! ’

Sethu Ocean Project(TamilNadu, India)

To shorten the sea-trade route
and export goods and expand trade,
the stone-bridge across the Palk Straits
off the town of Rameswaram
needs to be cleared away.
But some superstitious men
trade tirade against the Project
and stop carrying on the work.

The stones might have been laid
in ancient days by the Tamil Kings.
But these religious bigots
argue with fictional stories
that it was built by Rama
with the help of Hanuman's forces.
Whoever could have built it
but what use the people have
within the sea the bridge to save?

When Katchativu Islands
where the Tamils catch fish,
were gifted to Lanka,
these leaders slept in Parliament.
When the lakhs of Tamils were killed
enmass by hurling bombs on them
in the war-torn Lanka,
these Indians were on a honeymoon!

But the Sethu Sea Project work
which would bring jobs and livelihood
to lakhs of workers and farmers
is blocked by a writ in court, citing
legends, myths and fancy tales.
The Chinese are fast in trading.
Their astute men and material,
their indigenous and electronic goods
have filled and spilled Australia.

See, our flustered ambassadars
prostrate before the Lankan leaders
to plead them not to be a host
to the agile Buddhist Chinese.
As the Pakistan demands Kashmir,
Lanka will stretch its hand
to Rameswaram, the temple town.
The Chinese would succour them
as they have formed a triangle
to feel the pulse of the brave Indians.

Freedom Song

I sing for Freedom, from now on
I touch,
I see,
I hear,
I breathe,
I taste

“Freedom Freedom”

The sea and her waves sing “Freedom Freedom”
The ebb and the flow take me by the hand and dance once and again,
Rise and fall,
Up and down
That’s the rhythm of life
That's the rhythm of our dance too
To the rhythm of the Freedom Song they feel good,
I feel nice, I feel free
The tune was made by birds
Do,
Re,
Mi,
Fa,
Sol,
La,
Si
They compose
The Azure makes the song more and more splendid
The Great Smoky Mountains sings too Freedom Freedom
The sunbeam increases the song rhythm
The soft breeze makes the leaves clap,
Unconsciously my body keeps shivering
All flowers smile and sway on the rhythm of the Freedom Song
Freedom Freedom that’s all I feel,
That’s all they say, that’s all they sing and tune
What great moments! ! !

Earth Without People

You wouldn't write a song and not ask a voice to share.
A balloon's a useless thing if you don't fill it with air.
We wouldn't make a hammer for a nail not to be hit
And who would craft a chair, then allow no one to sit
in it.

The crafting of this Earth followed logic of the same
With all conditions set just right for life to stake its claim
The other planets not designed or destined for this use
Then how could we, the most evolved, bombarded it with obtuse
abuse.

We use up its resources at a rate it can't sustain.
Its spells its sad prognosis but too slowly we refrain.
We watch the species dwindle, as we hog the crafted chair.
And our tone deaf ears kill nature's song with notes that simply are
not there.

Nature filled balloons with breathe of life that we pollute.
It almost seems at self destruction, we are resolute.
But worldly goods won't be redundant if we run our course.
Hammer will nail the coffin shut, too late to act on
our remorse.

Growth of Free Verse from the Metrical Verse.

When you think and feel
in terms of iambs or trochees
and sing them in series within,
you feel the pulse of a regular
rising or falling rhythm.
The recurring feet or beats make the lines
monotonous or surfeiting;
may be dull and flat at times..
The increasing anapaests
Makes the movement fast
But dactyls keep the tempo slow.
The epics and long tales of the past
with thrilling and grilling events
recharged our minds to linger long
in tasting of those sonorous lines.

You pen the shoddy lines
of words and phrases you think,
with a natural mix of humour and rhetorics
images and word-music
in long end-stopped or short enjambed ones.
Free verse lines of syncopation
blossom out of syncronised patterns
to sing the beauties of the mundane
and supreme things.

Miles End

Chinese symbols on his robe
Never gonna match up with that smile
He's wearing mostly black and gold
It's been twelve days
The longest for a while
He's been fortunate
He can't tell a lie
Redheads, blondes, brunettes
They all fall for his lines
He's been king now for so long
His days are numbered
Times have changed, so move along
The dream is over
Draped across Egyptian linen
Even Cleopatra casts an eye
A gossamer see-through zipped up tracksuit
Champagne bottle, ten o'clock on fire
He's been fortunate
He cannot deny
Jacuzzi baronet
With soap suds in his eyes
He's been king now for so long
His days are numbered
Times have changed, so move along
The dream is over
He's been king now for so long
His days are numbered
Times have changed, so move along
The dream is over
We've been waiting for so long
We think it's over
