Three Very Special Gifts

three magi with three symbolic gifts
gave chase to a bright star in the east
bringing special gifts of gold, myrrh, and frankincense
all to a newborn king
who became high priest
oh yes! these magi had very good sense!
this newborn king gave the angels a reason to sing
the world a reason to rejoice
then the exclamation of a great voice-
this is my beloved son, in whom i am well pleased! ! !
for this priest- i will go to my knees
and give my soul's devotion-
for the gifts of peace
love
and eternal salvation!

The Three Magi

Three wise men came from east;
They were the three Magi!
They’ad seen a star anew-
‘The Star of Bethlehem! ’
A king was born, they knew.

By camel-back, they rode;
On the way, they met King Herod;
They gave the news to him;
Herod desired to see
The boy born recently!

The Magi left Herod,
Resuming their journey;
The Star led them for miles,
And stood o’er a manger,
In which there was the babe!

They entered the stable,
And saw the divine child;
They offered gifts of gold,
Frankincense and too myrrh,
Adoring the boy king.

The boy was named Jesus;
He brought peace, joy to earth;
He was the Son of God,
And Savior of mankind-
‘The Lamb of God, born man! ’

The Magi then returned
By yet another route,
Warned by angel of God,
As Herod wished to kill
The new-born baby King.

On Christmas Night!

Thus was born
The King of kings,
And Lord of lords,
And only son begotten,
Of the Father- God.

It was a baby boy
Who lay on hay,
On Christmas day
On a winter’s night.

Some Shepherds prayed;
While angels sang
‘Joy to the world
And peace to all
Men of good-will”

From the east,
Three magi came
Fell on their knees,
And paid homage
With gifts of gold,
Frankincense, myrrh,
And worshipped
The new-born King!

They found the babe
In a manger born,
As the Star of Bethlehem
Stood right above!

In total obeisance
To the Father’s decree,
Jesus Christ became man,
To die upon the cross,
To redeem mankind
Forever!

The boundless love of God
Was reflected by Christmas
And Satan’s defeat!

There’s a ancient story

There’s an ancient story
of God and of men,
of the holy Lord Jesus
born in Bethlehem.

Of shepherds in the field
watching their flock at night
and an angel so bright
that they had to shield their eyes
telling about the Son of God,
the Prince of Peace being born
and angels that sing praises to Him.

Of wise men from the East
following a bright star,
coming from very far
with gifts of gold,
frankincense and myrrh
for the newborn king

Of king Herod
when he heard about the child
let his soldiers kill
all the children
in and around Bethlehem
who were two years and younger
and of Jesus Christ escaping to Egypt

Of God the Son, Jesus
in innocence being crucified
for the sins of all men
and rising from the dead
to be alive and God again.

The Wise Men from the East!

The Star of Bethlehem appeared
As guiding light for men from east;
The Star was there for all to see;
Its light could reach all eyes earthly.

But knew the three Magi only,
Who understood its importance;
They fixed their gaze upon the star
And journeyed forth from quite afar!

They brought with them some priceless gifts;
Gold, myrrh and frank-incense- offering;
For they were sure to see a king;
As per the Scripture’s prophecy.

But on their way, they met Herod;
The king told them a pack of lies,
As though he yearned to see the babe
King, born of the Virgin Mary!

God brought the Magi to the spot
Where baby Jesus was just born;
The star stood where the manger was
The new-born king lay on dry grass!

Swaddled in clothes with divine look!
They knelt with reverence and took
A glance of the heavenly king,
As angel choirs began to sing!

Oh, what a joy and what great peace,
Had come upon the earth that day!
The Lamb of God, born son of man,
Was Savior of the race, human.

The Christmas Number poem.

One Star to shine, over the stable that first Christmas morn,

One Angel Gabriel, gave the message, Jesus would be born;

One stable to stay in, cause there was no room in the inn,

And One new King born, to be our Saviour, to save us from sin.

Two parents to come, give a child a new start,

Two cousins, who found each did love God from the heart;

Two special people, who blessed the new Saviour,

And two baby boys born, for a reason, in Gods favor.

Three wise men, came traveling from the east,

Three gifts to be given, to a new king, our high Priest;

Three sets of people, see the babe in the manger,

And three days journey for the new family in danger.

Four or more, shepherds heard the angel speak, in the sky,

Four or more angels singing, praises, the shepherds did sigh;

Four or more soldiers searching for the new born king,

And four or more reasons why we our praises should sing.

Christmas, Christmas

Whenever Christmas comes around
The people seem to be,
Full of love and brotherhood
as far as the eye can see.
Wouldn't it be much better
to act this way all year round
But Jesus is the reason
There's a Christmas.

Christmas, Christmas
Hear the angels sing.
He brought joy to the world
and salvation to all mankind.

Christmas cards and Christmas gifts
are everywhere in view.
Goodies and candy and stocking stuff,
the shoppers all wanting new.
They seem to miss just what it is
The greatest of all God's perfect gifts
It's Jesus, He's the reason
There's a Christmas.

Christmas, Christmas comes and goes
And with it the nations see
That there is a God that many know
Who gave them life eternally?
Wouldn't it be much better
if the whole world could know Him as He is?
It's Jesus, He's the reason
There's a Christmas

Hark! the herald angels sing
Glory to the newborn king!
Peace on earth, and mercy mild
God and sinners reconciled
Joyful all ye nations rise
Join the triumph of the skies
With thangelic host proclaim
Christ is born in bethlehem.
Hark! the herald angels sing
Glory to the newborn king!
Christ, by highest heavn adored
Christ the everlasting lord
Late in time behold him come
Offspring of the favored one
Veiled in flesh, the godhead see
Hail thincarnate deity
Pleased, as man with men to dwell
Jesus, our immanuel!
Hark! the herald angels sing
Glory to the newborn king!
Oh, oh, oh
Ah
Hail! the heavn born prince of peace!
Hail! the son of righteousness!
Light and life to all he brings
Risn with healing in his wings
(mild he lays his glory by)
Born that man no more may die
Born to raise the sons of earth
Born to give them second birth
Hark! the herald angels sing
Glory to the newborn king!

The Three Kings

WHEN the star in the East was lit to shine
The three kings journeyed to Palestine;

They came from the uttermost parts of earth
With long trains laden with gifts of worth.

The first king rode on a camel's back,
He came from the land where the kings are black,

Bringing treasures desired of kings,
Rubies and ivory and precious things.

An elephant carried the second king,
He came from the land of the sun-rising,

And gems and gold and spices he bare
With broidered raiment for kings to wear.

The third king came without steed or train
From the misty land where the white kings reign.

He bore no gifts save the myrrh in his hand,
For he came on foot from a far-off land.

Now when they had travelled a-many days
Through tangled forests and desert ways,

By angry seas and by paths thorn-set
On Christmas Vigil the three kings met.

And over their meeting a shrouded sky
Made dark the star they had travelled by.

Then the first king spake and he frowned and said:
'By some ill spell have our feet been led,

'Now I see in the darkness the fools we are
To follow the light of a lying star.

'Let us fool no more, but like kings and men
Each get him home to his land again!'

Then the second king with the weary face,
Gold-tinct as the sun of his reigning place,

Lifted sad eyes to the clouds and said,
'It was but a dream and the dream is sped.

'We dreamed of a star that rose new and fair,
But it sets in the night of the old despair.

'Yet night is faithful though stars betray,
It will lead to our kingdoms far away.'

Then spake the king who had fared alone
From the far-off kingdom, the white-hung throne:

'O brothers, brothers, so very far
Ye have followed the light of the radiant star,

'And because for a while ye see it not
Shall its faithful shining be all forgot?

'On the spirit's pathway the light still lies
Though the star be hid from our longing eyes.

'To-morrow our star will be bright once more
The little pin-hole in heaven's floor--

'The Angels pricked it to let it bring
Our feet to the throne of the new-born King!'

And the first king heard and the second heard
And their hearts grew humble before the third.

And they laid them down beside bale and beast
and their sleeping eyes saw light in the East.

For the Angels fanned them with starry wings
And the waft of visions of unseen things.

And the next gold day waned trembling and white
And the star was born of the waxing night.

And the three kings came where the Great King lay,
A little baby among the hay,

The ox and the ass were standing near
And Mary Mother beside her Dear.

Then low in the litter the kings bowed down,
They gave Him gold for a kingly crown,

And frankincense for a great God's breath
and Myrrh to sweeten the day of death.

The Maiden Mother she stood and smiled
And she took from the manger her little child.

On the dark king's head she laid His hand
And anger died at that dear command.

She laid His hand on the gold king's head
And despair itself was comforted.

But when the pale king knelt in the stall
She heard on the straw his tears down fall.

And she stooped where he knelt beside her feet
And laid on his bosom her baby sweet.

And the king in the holy stable-place
Felt the little lips through the tears on his face.

* * * * * * *

Christ! lay Thy hand on the angry king
Who reigns in my breast to my undoing,

And lay thy hands on the king who lays
The spell of sadness on all my days,

And give the white king my soul, Thy soul,
Of these other kings the high control.

That soul and spirit and sense may meet
In adoration before Thy feet!

Now Glory to God the Father Most High,
And the Star, the Spirit, He leads us by.

And to God's dear Son, the Babe who was born
And laid in the manger on Christmas morn!

'Did you stay up last night (the Magi did)
To see the star shower known as Leonid
That once a year by hand or apparatus

'To study the stars upon the wide, boundless sea, is divine as it was to the Chaldean Magi, who observed their revolutions from the plains.'

'We returned to our places, these Kingdoms,
But no longer at ease here, in the old dispensation,

And We, Three Kings..

Before they set out, met
to start their long hard journey from that East,
they knew their tasks, their gifts
to those whose very language, metaphor:

three gifts to speak of soul’s eternal life
about to be refreshed in human life:
gold for the soul’s first task,
resplendent in reflection of All that’s divine;

frankincense, for the soul’s gift to survey
All above and all below as One;
myrrh, that preserves the state and memory
of the passing body, servant of the soul;

these are on their way to Him; horsehooves
now ringing sharp on flint; now sighing into sand;
stars in a velvet winter night
telling of three dominions and cosmographies;

a fortnight’s journey yet to mark the lifetime,
waytime, truthtime, held
in tomorrow’s birth in scent of hay;

divine moment; that in human life must yet hold
an empty cave as tomb; a pile of clothes still warm;
dawnlight on the garden, reflected as from gold;
lingering, the scent of myrrh and frankincense.

God Uses People

Was just
thinking
about how

God uses people
to bless us?

How God uses people
to teach us?

How God uses people
to humble us?

At the birth of Jesus Christ
the three wise men
were not our devout believers.

They were Persian
stargazers pagan
non-believers for

Jews
Christians
Moslems.

Yet God
choose them
to worship

give frankincense
gold myrrh to the
newborn King.

Riches that allowed
Joseph Mary Jesus to
flee to Egypt to safety.

God is telling us his
servants are his choice
warning us not to judge.

God gave the three wise men
divine warning in a dream
not to return to false King Herod.

Only after they had withdrawn did
God’s angel appear in Joseph’s dream
saying “Get up, take the young child

and its mother and flee into Egypt,
and stay there until I give you word;
for Herod is about to search for the

young child to destroy it.” All this “for
that to be fulfilled which was spoken by
God through his prophet, saying “Out of

Egypt I called my son.” Matthew 2: 1-15.
Thus the Magi were truly servants of God.
We would do well not to judge divine will.

What Is Christmas?

Christmas is that hamlet small,
That offered haven to them all
That Judean night,
There came a light
To mend man's plight.

Christmas is that manger worn
Wherein the Son of God lay born
For you and me
So patiently
'Mid poverty.

Christmas is that shining star
That summoned magi from afar
Adore this King
Gifts to Him bring
While angels sing.

Christmas is that warming glow
That in man's heart begins to grow
Till we're full of
That gift of Love
From God above.

A Baby Just Like You

The season is upon us now
A time for gifts and giving
And as the year draws to its close
I think about my living
The christmastime when I was young
The magic and the wonder
But colors dull and candles dim
And dark my standing under
Oh little angel, shining light
Youve set my soul to dreaming
Youve given back my joy in life
You ve filled me with new meaning
A savior king was born that day
A baby just like you
And as the magi came with gifts
Ive come with my gift too
That peace on earth fills up your time
That brotherhood surrounds you
That you may know the warmth of love
And wrap it all around you
Its just a wish, a dream Im told
From days when I was young
Merry christmas little zachary
Merry christmas evryone

The Three Kings Of Cologne

From out Cologne there came three kings
To worship Jesus Christ, their King.
To Him they sought fine herbs they brought,
And many a beauteous golden thing;
They brought their gifts to Bethlehem town,
And in that manger set them down.

Then spake the first king, and he said:
'O Child, most heavenly, bright, and fair!
I bring this crown to Bethlehem town
For Thee, and only Thee, to wear;
So give a heavenly crown to me
When I shall come at last to Thee!'

The second, then. 'I bring Thee here
This royal robe, O Child!' he cried;
'Of silk 'tis spun, and such an one
There is not in the world beside;
So in the day of doom requite
Me with a heavenly robe of white!'

The third king gave his gift, and quoth:
'Spikenard and myrrh to Thee I bring,
And with these twain would I most fain
Anoint the body of my King;
So may their incense sometime rise
To plead for me in yonder skies!'

Thus spake the three kings of Cologne,
That gave their gifts, and went their way;
And now kneel I in prayer hard by
The cradle of the Child to-day;
Nor crown, nor robe, nor spice I bring
As offering unto Christ, my King.

Yet have I brought a gift the Child
May not despise, however small;
For here I lay my heart to-day,
And it is full of love to all.
Take Thou the poor but loyal thing,
My only tribute, Christ, my King!

Madi Gras

Madi Gras

Three wise men followed the light
From a star in the night, shinning bright
12 days later the manger was found
Where the baby was born
Gifts of frankincense and myrrh
Were given to the newborn King
From the wise men

Then the party was on
Time to Mardi Gras
Celebrate with beads
Bangles
Flashing’ boobies
That seem to come
With the spirits of beer, wine, and whiskey
Along with the Mardi Gras colors
Purple, green, and gold
That represent faith, power, and justice
Justice is purple
Power is gold
Faith is green
The duration of the Mardi Gras party
Lasts for six 6 weeks
Until Fat Tuesday
Come Ash Wednesday
We put the party away
For another 6 weeks,
To participate in Lent
Until Easter Sunday
When Jesus was born again

At that time we celebrate once more
By coloring eggs to hide
That are sometimes purple, green, and gold
Put in a basket to be sold
With ribbons, candy, plastic grass
And toys, for all the girls and boys
Somewhere inside we all have faith,
This is true
For there is a star, in the night
That still, shines bright

Three wise men passed Herod’s palace
searching for the newborn king
keeping their countenance and grace

In Bethlehem I saw three camels coming in

with little bells on the bridles ringing,
following a star at night, they never went astray

they offered myrrh, gold and incense
and bowed cheerful in great joy
glad to be in the prescience

of the eternal king
and wanted to receive His blessing.

0008 The Gift

Who does not wish to give the perfect gift
to those we love – to whom we have already
given the greatest gift we have – our heart?
To choose a visible and outward sign
of love whose meaning’s inward, spiritual?

But who would dare to challenge innocence
and ignorance in their demonic bond,
and break the spell of Christmas wish and hope
by telling children, that old Santa Claus
is but the God who gave their life to them -
dressed up in red and white and snowy beard;
and who, in needing nothing of himself,
would be delighted to receive their thanks
and nothing more; and who, we might believe
of one who has all gifts in his command,
might be obliged by those laws he himself
created, out of justice, equity,
to give them that which they themselves have made –
a life of gratitude for life itself –
a life of praise, where all the world is gift
beyond all human gifts?

What parents now
might give their children gold, myrrh, frankincense
with all their love; and teach them by this show
why Christmas gifts are godly metaphor?

Of course, no parents would dare break this spell;
you’ll laugh at me for this absurdity;
yet it might build a clear-eyed, praising race
who thought in metaphor; spoke poetry.
