An Escapade
I am so excited and delighted
To go on an escapade
With my dream man
He and I will ride
With the sun and wind
Up the curvy scenic roads
Far up into the high summit
Where we will look down
On the fluffy clouds below
We will hike the mountain
With warm sensual sunlight
Through the leaf covered trails
To see the fairies
Being serenaded
With love songs of seduction
By a prairie warbler romeo

Paths Of Victory
Trails of troubles,
Roads of battles,
Paths of victory,
I shall walk.
The trail is dusty
And my road it might be rough,
But the better roads are waiting
And boys it aint far off.
Trails of troubles,
Roads of battles,
Paths of victory,
We shall walk.
I walked down by the river,
I turned my head up high.
I saw that silver linin
That was hangin in the sky.
Trails of troubles,
Roads of battles,
Paths of victory,
We shall walk.
The evenin dusk was rollin,
I was walking down the track.
There was a one-way wind a-blowin
And it was blowin at my back.
Trails of troubles,
Roads of battles,
Paths of victory,
We shall walk.
The gravel road is bumpy,
Its a hard road to ride,
But theres a clearer road a-waitin
With the cinders on the side.
Trails of troubles,
Roads of battles,
Paths of victory,
We shall walk.
That evening train was rollin,
The hummin of its wheels,
My eyes they saw a better day
As I looked across the fields.
Trails of troubles,
Roads of battles,
Paths of victory,
We shall walk.
The trail is dusty,
The road it might be rough,
But the good road is a-waitin
And boys it aint far off.
Trails of troubles,
Roads of battles,
Paths of victory,
We shall walk.

Ride On The Wind... Forever...
I Want To Ride On The Wind… Forever
I Want To Ride Over Land and Sea
I Want To Ride on The Wind… Forever
… and I Want You Riding With Me…
I Want To Ride On The Wind Over Mountains
And Touch The Sky, So Blue
Then Raise Oceans, Like Sparkling Fountains
And Splash Through Water, Kissing You
I Want To Ride On The Wind… Hold Its Mane
Ride The Wind… Wild and Free
For The Wind – Will Never Be Tame…
So Hold On Tight and Just… Breathe…
… Ride The Wind – Let It Begin – Ride The Wind
Ride The Wind – Breathe It In – Ride The Wind
Ride The Wind – Blow Again – Ride The Wind
Ride The Wind – Raise The Wind – Ride The Wind!
I Want To Ride On The Wind – In The Moonlight
I Want To Ride On The Wind – In The Clouds
And Wave To The Wings of Eagles in Flight
… then Float like Snow – Dancing Down
I Want To Ride On The Wind Forever
I Want To Ride and Rush-Up Rainbow-Stairs
I Want To Ride On The Wind – Forever
For Your Sweet-Breath Beckons Me… Everywhere
… Ride The Wind – Let It Begin – Ride The Wind
Ride The Wind – Breathe It In – Ride The Wind
Ride The Wind – Blow Again – Ride The Wind
Ride The Wind – Raise The Wind – Ride The Wind!

Romeo
A cross between a movie star
And a hero in a book
Romeo comes struttin in
And everybody looks
cause hes just got that special thang
That everybody needs
And everybody wants him
But not as bad as me
Hey, romeo, where art thou
Get out here on the floor
I want to dance you darlin
til you forget wherefore
Lets two step to a new step
Well keep it all in line
And well call this the romeo
cause youre so mighty fine
Chorus:
Romeo, romeo, romeo come dance with me
That sexy little body
Beats all Ive ever seen
I aint never seen a cowboy
Look that good in jeans
My temperature keeps risin
Every time we meet
I may not be in love
But let me tell you
Im in heat
Chorus:
Romeo, romeo, I just know Ill get you yet
Romeo, romeo, I want to be your juliet
So step it high, step it low
Step it out and in
Step to the side and let it slide
Then steppin up again
Step on toes, it all goes
Steppin as you please
But Im one step away from love
So dont step out on me
Chorus:
Romeo, romeo, romeo with the magic feet
So step it high, step it low
Step it out and in
Step to the side and let it slide
Then steppin up again
Step on toes, it all goes
Steppin as you please
But Im one step away from love
So dont step out on me

Forest Follies
The Green Man
and the gargoyle
sat idly by.
As the forest
caught fire
and the flames
they grew high.
Till mountains of smoke
had covered the sky.
Then down flew the fairies
in fury they came.
And battle they did
with that furious flame.
Sending in torrents
of free falling rain.
Then away
to the mountain
the fairies did fly.
As the souls
of the forest
did softly sigh.

We're both in the gutter, that's no surprise

We're lying in the gutter, but we're looking at the stars
I get excited, you get excited too (excited) (i get excited)

Songs Of The Sky
In a sky of layered clouds,
dawn becomes a rainbow,
moving through the spectrum
toward the day.
In a sky of always blue,
no clouds ride the wind:
the sun burns brightly,
high and hot and long.
In a sky of may grays,
clouds crash, explode and roar;
rain-filled winds sweep across the prairie.
In a sky of many blues,
clouds dance on the wind;
and endless and quixotic
Rohrschach test.
In a sky of always gray,
no clouds seem to move;
overcast blots out imagination.
In a sky of cold, cold blue,
gray clouds scrape the treetops;
harbingers of winter storms to come.
Beneath a sky of darkening gray,
the prairie grasses rustle
on the small, forgotten farms
of what could've been
and was.
In a sky of mottled gray,
cold rains fall, now and then;
the seasons struggle
for control of April.
In a sky of broken gray,
cold winds precede the rains;
and before long
the darkened clouds re-gather.
In a sky as clear as glass,
and blue from top to bottom,
sultry days of August
slowly drift into September.
In a twi-lit noon-time sky,
this annular eclipse
leaves us just a
ring around the moon.
In a sky of many clouds,
sunset's an inferno;
ablaze, in this,
my father's final twilight.
In a sky that slowly burns,
the clouds of fire fade
and leave a darker beauty
to hold the night.

Warm Ride
Come to me baby, I got something to say
I been changin your direction evry step of the way
Now I bring emotion and I bring desire
And I bring the potion to set you on fire
I know you need me, there can be no doubt
You got me held inside your love and I cant get out
We must surrender to the powers that be
The angel in you and the devil in me
Warm ride , warm ride , baby just the way you are
Warm ride , warm ride , we can reach the highest star
Now I warn you women, we are two of a kind
And we both know whats coming
We got one thing in mind
I bring the pleasure , satisfaction you learn
And I got the strength to make you burn, baby, burn
Warm ride , warm ride , baby just the way you are
Warm ride , warm ride , we can reach the highest star
Why are we waiting for this love on the rise
And why am I searching for the magic thats in your eyes
We must surrender to the powers that be
The angel in you and the devil in me
Warm ride, warm ride , baby just the way you are
Warm ride, warm ride , we can reach the highest star
(break)
Warm ride , warm ride , baby just the way you are
Warm ride , warm ride , we can reach the highest star
Warm ride ( fade out)

He was born in the summer of his 27th year
Comin home to a place hed never been before
He left yesterday behind him, you might say he was born again
You might say he found a key for every door
When he first came to the mountains his life was far away
On the road and hangin by a song
But the strings already broken and he doesnt really care
It keeps changin fast and it dont last for long
But the colorado rocky mountain high
Ive seen it rainin fire in the sky
The shadow from the starlight is softer than a lullabye
Rocky mountain high (high colorado) rocky mountain high (high colorado)
He climbed cathedral mountains, he saw silver clouds below
He saw everything as far as you can see
And they say he got crazy once, and he tried to touch the sun
And he lost a friend but kept his memory
Now he walks in quiet solitude the forests and the streams
Seeking grace in every step he takes
His sight has turned inside himself to try and understand
The serenity of a clear blue mountain lake
And the colorado rocky mountain high
Ive seen it rainin fire in the sky
You can talk to God and listen to the casual reply
Rocky mountain high (high colorado) rocky mountain high (high colorado)
Now his life is full of wonder but his heart still knows some fear
Of a simple thing he cannot comprehend
Why they try to tear the mountains down to bring in a couple more
More people, more scars upon the land
And the colorado rocky mountain high
Ive seen it rainin fire in the sky
I know hed be a poorer man if he never saw an eagle fly
Rocky mountain high
Its a colorado rocky mountain high
Ive seen it rainin fire in the sky
Friends around the campfire and everybodys high
Rocky mountain high (high colorado) rocky mountain high (high colorado)
Rocky mountain high (high colorado) rocky mountain high do de do

I Ride My Horse II
Sunlight...
I feel the sun
Warm on my skin
Shining on me
As I ride my horse
Wind…
I feel the wind
Combing my hair
Flowing past me
As I ride my horse
Sky…
I see the sky
Open above me
Calling to me
As I ride my horse
Grass…
I see the grass
All around me
Surrounding me
As I ride my horse

Romeo
My baby wears his heart on his sleeve
He wears a look on his face that says please please please
Love it everything he flaunts love it
Everything he vaunts I just cant hesitate
When he wants what he wants
Oh chucka, oh chucka, oh chucka, oh chucka
And I said oh chucka, oh chucka, oh chucka, oh chucka
Last night he calls me on the telephone
You know at two in the morning I just want to sleep on
But he got a way with words and
He got a way with charm
You know at three in the morning hes back into my arms
And I said oh chucka, oh chucka, oh chucka, oh chucka
And I said oh chucka, oh chucka, oh chucka, oh chucka
Hes the boy, hes the boy, hes the boy, hes the boy
Hes my romeo oh, oh
Hes the boy, hes the boy, hes the boy, hes the boy
Hes my r-o-m-e-o, romeo
Hes the boy, hes the boy, hes the boy, hes the boy
Hes my romeo oh, oh
Hes the boy, hes the boy, hes the boy, hes the boy
Hes mine
My my romeo, my my romeo, my my romeo, my my romeo
He looks so good the girls stop and stare
But I soon wanna look with his double dark hair
Im not gonna let him go
Im not taking any chance
Its a one in million mad mad romance
Oh chucka, oh chucka, oh chucka, oh chucka
Oh chucka, oh chucka, oh chucka, oh chucka

The summit
My preconceived thoughts have no limit,
My perceptions have my heart ignite,
My path your eyes have given light,
My hope dont have power nor might,
Should I put aside weapons or fight,
There we are at the summit
We searched in the places of lovers,
We found all the lovers things along,
So many different pictures we painted,
So many different paintings we pictured,
We had to make vital choices,
Look at us, standing upon the summit
Look at us my beautiful lover,
Beyond the imagination of all our thoughts,
We sailed past the deepest seas,
The water so bluest yet us so purest,
The trip was always long my love,
All the same, we at the summit now
Some built houses, we built a home,
The clouds are closer my love,
Lets not step down this mountain,
Its me and you forever more,
Me and you upon the summit

In the Morning
By SJR December 1,2008
The varying layers of clouds would not evade my attention.
Dark clouds, high clouds, fluffy clouds, wispy clouds –
The sky was a myriad of different formations.
Pervading through them all however,
was a diffuse gray form extending from earth to
Heaven and moving swiftly through the land –
It was amazing to watch!
And I could only reflect on the Spirit of God,
Moving swiftly across the earth,
Always present, filling all of space,
Not necessarily noticeable from within,
But ever active, moving with power and love.
'God is able to do immeasurably more than we would ever dare to ask or even dream of, according to His power that is at work within us' Eph 4: 20
----
I will always remember you SJR!

Big As I Can Dream
(montgomery)
I know they dont think that Ill amount to much
But your love has given me the magic touch
Just put your faith in me and strange as it may seem
I will build a dream for you
Big as I can dream
I know that they want the best things for you
That is just what I have planned
If they only knew.
Theres no mountain thats too high
I can ford any stream
For your love I can be
Big as I can dream.
Theres no mountain thats too high
I can ford any stream
For your love I can be
Big as I can dream
Big as I can dream
Big as I can dream.

Meet Me On The Mountain
I remember it well, that day last spring,
When the snow lay deep on the mountain trails.
It was winters last showin and our last fling
Before returning to our lives in the valley.
We pretended we were lost in the wilderness,
And I pretended to be your guide.
Our love was a play and you were the actress.
We were two lonely people living out a dream.
Oh, baby meet me on the mountain
When the winter is dying
And the snow lay deep on the mountain trails.
Maybe its the spring putting thoughts in our heads.
But baby meet me on the mountain
When the winter lays her head to rest.
As the morning came, the feelings faded.
They melted away with the dew.
And if it hurt, I never felt it,
cause I knew that youd be leavin me soon.
Come on, baby meet me on the mountain
When the winter is dying
And the snow lay deep on the mountain trails.
Maybe its the spring putting thoughts in our heads.
But baby meet me on the mountain
When the winter lays her head to rest.

The Climb
I stood at foothill, excited to ascend
The high mountain loomed before me
Ready n’ willing, by body to commend
To the task, altho I felt some anxiety
One step, two step, soon were many
Valley floor seemed very far below
Caution, or could be trouble plenty
Peaks above still wore winter’s snow
The summit was just a few steps ahead
Close was I to conquering Mount Hood
I slipped and fell over precipice instead
An icy wind blew, where I’d once stood
Although to die was never my intention
God granted me a Heavenly Ascension

Mountain Of Love
(downbeat, denny. denny. downbeat!)
(*laughter*)
(what? )
(get out of here!)
(oh, man!)
(oh, rock out!)
Standin on a mountain lookin down on a city
The way I feel is a doggone pity
Teardrops fallin down the mountainside
Many times Ive been here, many times Ive cried
We used to be so happy when we were in love
High on a mountain of love
Night after night Im a-standin here alone
Weepin out my heart (*laugh*) till the cold grey dawn
Prayin that youre lonely and youll come here too
Hopin just by chance that Ill get a glimpse of you
(oh yeah!)
Trying hard to find you somewhere up above
High on a mountain of love
The mountain of love, the mountain of love
You should be ashamed
You used to be a mountain of love
But you just changed your name
Way down below theres a half a million people
Somewhere theres a church with a big tall steeple
Inside the church, theres an altar filled with flowers
Wedding bells are ringin and they shouldve been ours
Thats why Im so handy, my dream is gone above
High on a mountain of love
([...])
(keep playin it like it is!)
([...])
Thats why Im so lonely, my dream is gone above
High on a mountain of love
High on a mountain of love
High on a mountain of love
High on a mountain of love
(what, honey? )
High on a mountain of love.
(hahahaha.)
Ooh baby...
(thats good.)
...one more time. oooh baby. oooooo.
(thats a good voice.)

Ther version appears on the rocky mountain christmas album.
See the sunlight through the pine
Taste the warm of winter wine
Dream of softly falling snow
Winter snow aspenglow
As the winter days unfold
Hearts grow warmer with the cold
Peace of mind is all you know
Winter snow aspenglow
Aspen is a life to live
See how much there is to give
See how strongly you believe
See how much you may receive
Smiling faces all around
Laughter is the only sound
Memories that cant grow old
Winter snow aspenglow
Aspen is a life to live
See how much there is to give
See how strongly you believe
See how much you may receive
See the sunlight through the pine
Taste the warm of winter wine
Dream of softly falling snow

Over The Land Is April
OVER the land is April,
Over my heart a rose;
Over the high, brown mountain
The sound of singing goes.
Say, love, do you hear me,
Hear my sonnets ring?
Over the high, brown mountain,
Love, do you hear me sing?
By highway, love, and byway
The snows succeed the rose.
Over the high, brown mountain
The wind of winter blows.
Say, love, do you hear me,
Hear my sonnets ring?
Over the high, brown mountain
I sound the song of spring,
I throw the flowers of spring.
Do you hear the song of spring?
Hear you the songs of spring?

Then There Are The Mountains
On a mountain's peak is there peace?
Mountains that overlook the quiet prairie.
Mountains that borders life in rural counties.
Mountains chiseled by years of wind and rain.
Mountain winds creep keeping all secrets.
Mountains a kin to the lower hills of death.
Mountains at the height of glamour baked in sunshine.
Mountains that reach for more majestic planes.
Mountains giving to the ridges, valleys and cliffs.
Mountains in spring the fulfillment of adventure and dream.
Mountains which can shelter one from storm.
Mountains an enduring symbol in poetry.
Mountains which inhabit the calls of the wild.
Mountains of spectacle, below the bending roads between.
Mountains embracing, magnifying the sounds of river.
Mountains the stellar monuments of time.
