What is your dragon?
How do you see the dragon? Wings unfurled, claws spread?
Does the mouth gape, does the mind function?
Is it a part of you, intimate and undeniable?
Or merely an imagining, metamorphed into a metaphore?
Does the dragon smile happily, or frighteningly, teeth like steel?
Is the fire healing or harming, sacred or insouciant?
How many questions does it take to change a lightbulb?
Cradled harmlessly within the heat of verse, they burn...

Rose from my Love
Rose from my love,
My love the black dragon,
With teeth like daggers,
Claws of steel,
Scales of darkness,
And a soul of fire.
Do not raid the village,
Do not steal the maiden,
Just guard the rose,
My rose,
The rose of the dark moon.
Under the cloudy sky,
Surrounded by trees dead and charred,
Looking out at the frozen lake,
Remember me,
And wait for my return.
My sweet dragon,
Dragon of my dreams,
Your soul is dark like me,
Even when that fire goes out,
The rose will remain,
As a memory of our love,
But was that love in vain?
No, not in vain will I die,
I will die in the arms of my love,
My love Mokar,
Protector of my rose,
The rose of the dark moon,
The moon I was born under.

Princess And The Black Horse-IV(Isle Of Dragon)
'O, O Princess, this place unknown, inmates may harm,
come back, dear, we have to save your father's life.'
He followed her and going far reached at a cave,
where thick bushes, and weeds, clambers only did thrive.
What did he see, just imagine it's beyond our reach!
A dragon with his fiery mouth, was gasping fast.
The princess there was watching him as mesmerized.
The dragon seemed as if ill, in sporadic dust.
He noticed scars all over his wounded skin.
The dragon then signalled them beside to sit.
A bluish grume was coming out his scarred body.
Excited was he that they could hear his heart-beat.
Softy Princess, in keen sadness, uttered sotto voce-
'Oh! my Gosh! save good dragon with thine power! '
and took out dust that could cure fatal bruise,
(the wizard told) and put that on for an hour.
The dragon felt comfort and told his sad life story...
They used to live happily in that isle until Evilo
dragon, started living with them and mischievously
spoiled peace of mind, the mirth, laughter, smile Oh! .
Last night they had a final fight in which defeated he!
The island dragons fled in fear thinking half-dead!
Alone he was waiting death, and praying to Fire God.
Blackberry then fanned him and princess kissed on head.
The Sun was then going down, down the ding-dong mount.
Woh! just, just then Blackberry turned into a black horse!
The princess then, lit taper from the dragon's mouth's fire,
and told dragon to take long rest and forbade to remorse.

Ode to the dragon
I was inspired to express my love for dragons in old-English.
This ode which is called an irregular ode glorifies the dragon.
In Asiatic cultures, dragons are worshiped for their wisdom and longevity.
Though thy teeth be sharp, and thy claws great, waste not thy strength on me,
for thy beauty doth pierce mine heart worse than any wound.
Do not waste thy breath upon me, for I burn already a passion far greater than I can bear.
Oh dragon, hold back not thine beauty from mine eyes any longer, spread thy wings for me, let me see thy grace, thy majesty, thy glory complete!
Though thy scales turn away the sword, they can not turn away my love for thee.
Though thy wings block the sun, they can not block mine thoughts so bright of thee.
Though thy eyes stare death, I...only have eyes... for thee.

Taking The Wings Of A Dragon
Here I am staring at the sun, wondering what I've become. Was I on the run? Well now its over. Im taking the wings of a dragon and getting ready to fly. I want to embrace the sky. I want to live my life before I die. I don't want to hide behind contradictions or lies. So here I am staring at the sun, wondering what I've become. Was I on the run? Well now its over. I'm taking the wings of a dragon and getting ready fly. Empty the mind, open the soul and let it all flow through. Broken hearts can be glued. I know that at one time it seemed as if I was screwed. But I have paid those dues. And now its time to move. So here I am staring at the sun, wondering what I've become. Was I on the run? Well now its over. I'm taking the wings of a dragon and getting ready to fly. The awe inspired. The truly desired. Stop to admire. What if that was yours? Oh so much do I adore. I must explore so much more. Never deny a chance to change the score. A riddle within is where I must begin. I must see this to the end. So here I am staring at the sun, wondering what I've become. Was I on the run? Was I on the run? . Well now its over. Im taking the wings of a dragon and getting ready to fly. I'm getting ready to fly.

Care For Some Tea? - A Kyrielle
If you are smart, you will listen to me
Remember not all tales are just make believe
Dragons in snuggies are not just seen on TV
Never say yes when a dragon invites you to tea
I don't know how I got there, I hadn't a clue
But the next thing I heard was one lump or two
And he smiled most wide with his eyes all agleam
Never say yes when a dragon invites you to tea
His teeth were all pointy, as long as my shoe
And with a smile like that, who was I to refuse
So I smiled as I stammered 'can I have three? '
Never say yes when a dragon invites you to tea
If you are smart, you will listen to me
Never say yes when a dragon invites you to tea

The Dragon and the Tiger
Elusive and spiritual
the Dragon's dance a ritual
Strong and firm
the Tiger waits his turn
Both are majestic
in precence and style
One breath's fire
the other's wild
The Tiger leaps
while the Dragon sways
The Tiger claws
while the Dragon slays
But when fighting together
their energy flows
The colors, the magic
like a rainbow, they glow.

Undeniable
Being here together
Is like dreaming wide awake
Once you've found perfection
You know it's no mistake
too many times
I've tried too hard
To make love become real
You showed me how
My life can change
When love is meant to be
It's undeniable
Your love is undeniable
It's undeniable
True love is undeniable
It's undeniable
You can change direction
You can change your mind
Cold sky and close your eyes
but the sun's still gonna shine
'Cause when the magic comes your way
And you say it isn't real
Yeah!
There's no use to try to lie
About the way you make me feel
It's undeniable
Your love is undeniable
It's undeniable
True love is undeniable
It's undeniable
I can't turn it down
(I can't turn it down)
No one else can turn it around
It's the truest thing I've ever found
It's undeniable
Your love is undeniable
It's undeniable
True love is undeniable
It's undeniable

The Dragon of the Black Pool
Deep the waters of the Black Pool, colored like ink;
They say a Holy Dragon lives there, whom men have never seen.
Beside the Pool they have built a shrine; the authorities
have established a ritual;
A dragon by itself remains a dragon, but men can make it a god.
Prosperity and disaster, rain and drought, plagues and pestilences—
By the village people were all regarded as the Sacred Dragon’s doing.
They all made offerings of sucking-pig and poured libations of wine;
The morning prayers and evening gifts depended on a “medium’s” advice.
When the dragon comes, ah!
The wind stirs and sighs
Paper money thrown, ah!
Silk umbrellas waved.
When the dragon goes, ah!
The wind also—still.
Incense-fire dies, ah !
The cups and vessels are cold.
Meats lie stacked on the rocks of the Pool’s shore;
Wine flows on the grass in front of the shrine.
I do not know, of all those offerings, how much the Dragon eats;
But the mice of the woods and the foxes of the hills are continually drunk and sated.
Why are the foxes so lucky?
What have the sucking-pigs done,
That year by year they should be killed, merely to glut the foxes?
That the foxes are robbing the Sacred Dragon and eating His sucking-pig,
Beneath the nine-fold depths of His pool, does He know or not?
Girl On Fire
(the margarita horns: bill runge (baritone sax), paul baron & derry byrne (trumpets),
Tom keenlyside (tenor sax & arranger))
I just landed
Girl on fire
I felt the heat
From sydney to london
Well she shut my mouth
With her repartee
I opened hers
With the rest of me
Girl on fire
Baby burn burn burn
Girl on fire
Baby burn burn burn
Outta the shadows
Comes a dirty song
The same old faces
Try to keep you in line
I saw you laughing
At the very first show
You lit up the city
From the twenty-sixth floor
Girl on fire
Baby burn burn burn
Girl on fire
Whats saving her
Baby burn burn burn
Baby burn burn burn
Baby burn burn burn
I just landed
Girl on fire
I felt the heat
From new york to london
Well she shut my mouth
With a repartee
I opened hers
With the things that I say
Girl on fire
Thats the heat that burns
Girl on fire
How the flames make you learn
Girl on fire
Baby burn burn burn
Girl on fire
How the flames make me yearn
Girl on fire
Girl on fire
Girl on fire
Girl on girl on

The Teeth Of The Pen!
When the teeth of the pens are shown,
The pleasantness spread through the spine,
The buds in the mind excitedly bloom in thrill,
The readers close their mouth to smile.
The eyes are drowned and the leaking in the nostrils,
Change in the clime is noticed and the body gets stiff,
Sudden mood change advocates truth and prophesy,
When the teeth of the pens bite the tongues.
The rise in body heat and the heart tries to gallop,
The removal of green house materials from the top,
The sun may rise in the brain to chase away the dark,
When the teeth of the pens poke the hearts of the pages.

The Dragon and The Phoenix (version one)
The Dragon and The Phoenix (version one) :
The sleeping Tiger lies in a mist, covered in mystery.
Who is he, what is his purpose?
The sleeping Flame lies in a cloud, shrouded by time.
Who is she, what is her purpose?
As the could falls in the night, and mingles in the mist... the Flame touches the Tiger and both awaken. The Flame brightens and swirls around the Tiger, the Tiger roars as the flames engulf him and he transforms into the wise Dragon. The Flame crackles as the Dragon's roar sounds through the night. The crackle becomes a cry of joy as the Dragon breathes a breath of fire upon the Flame, adding his burning love to hers. The Flame turns into a fiery bird with a great
cry. A Phoenix has been born, and a Dragon has grown in the fires of love. This bond forged is stronger than steel, stronger than the very foundations of the earth.
Nothing and no one can break this love. The love of the Dragon and the Phoenix will live beyond the end of time, their hearts forever entwined. Purpose has been found, the balance formed by the Dragon and Phoenix that awakened them is their purpose. The love they share forever is a shining light for all who despair; the Dragon and Phoenix are smiled upon by the Creator for they are what he intended love between two to be.

Dragon Days
Ooh baby ooh
Like a damsel in distress, I'm stressing you
My castle became my dungeon, cause I'm longin' for you
Feelin' strong for ya
You're my night in shining armor
See your face in the silver moon
Oh over the lagoon
And it feels like dragon days
And the fire's hot
Like a desert needs water
I need you a lot
Dragon days, I need to be saved
I'm missin' you
In the day we drag on and on
Desperate for you baby
Do you know what that means?
It means, I feel like an addict must feel
When he feens
In an act of desperation
I get lost in my dreams
Cause like a lady in waitin', I'm waitin for you
Like a kiss in time over alligator water
Waitin' for my prince of paradise to come and, take me away
From these, tock tick
Dragon days
And the fire's hot
Like a desert needs water
I need you a lot
So baby
Dragon days, I need to be saved
I'm missin' you
In the day you drag on and on
Don't you wanna play?
D-R-A-G-O-N days
Got me D-R-A-G-G-I-N
Cause I want u baby
And I need you baby
Dragon days
And the fire's hot
Like a desert needs water
I need you a lot (I need you a lot, I need you so bad)
Dragon days, I need to be saved
I'm missin' you
In the day we drag on and on
On, and on, on and on
Dragon days
And the fire's hot
Like a desert needs water
I need you a lot (I need you a lot, I need you so bad)
Dragon days, I need to be saved
I'm missin' you
In the day we drag on
Yeah yeah yeah, oh oh oh ohhh
Yeah yeah yeah, oh oh oh ohhh

She guards the guardian Story poem
The dragon soars on silver wings
and as he flies the dragon sings.
Of where he’s been and what he’s done.
Since first he hatched beneath the sun
He can despite his mighty size,
dance in the air so gracefully
He is the focus of all eyes
His audience watch gratefully.
His singing voice a baritone.
He sings a love song to his mate
Condemned for now to wait alone.
The dragon’s flight decreed by fate.
A dragon’s task is to protect
And this is what he means to do
He does not know what to expect
But does as fate has bid him to
It might be just a false alarm.
Although he is prepared to fight
to shield his people from all harm
A sacred duty and a right.
He disappears into the blue
too high too far for us to see
And does what guardians have to do
He then returns triumphantly.
Another battle he has won.
Swiftly returns to join his mate.
He is a doughty champion
a fact that we appreciate.
Earth bound; again the dragon sings.
His vibrant tones rise to the skies
Enfold his mate within his wings.
She lies content with half closed eyes
He must renew his energy.
In case some challenge should arise.
She snuggles in contentedly.
The dragoness for she is wise.
He has his task and she has hers.
A joint responsibility
The dragoness knows what she prefers
to lie together quietly.
But she accepts without demur.
He has no choice but play his part.
She knows he will return to her.
She is the keeper of his heart.

Red Rose and Red Dragon (Poem 2 from Roses Series)
Be careful with this wild red rose,
no human planted it.
It was a red dragon.
You touch it,
you burn...Literally.
You'll feel the reign of it's fire.
You touch the red dragons red rose,
he might not burn you to death,
instead he might rip you apart.
Leaving bloody pieces behind.
So, if you don't want to have,
a red dragons wrath upon you...
I suggest you not touch the red rose.
It'll serve you good.
Beware of the red dragon,
when it comes to its' red rose.

Time Out Of Mind
Son you better be ready for love
On this glory day
This is your chance to believe
What Ive got to say
Keep your eyes on the sky
Put a dollar in the kitty
Dont the moon look pretty
Tonight when I chase the dragon
The water will change to cherry wine
And the silver will turn to gold
Time out of mind
I am holding the mystical sphere
Its direct from lhasa
Where people are rolling in the snow
Far from the world we know
Children we have it right here
Its the light in my eyes
Its perfection and grace
Its the smile on my face
Tonight when I chase the dragon
The water will change to cherry wine
And the silver will turn to gold
Time out of mind
Children we have it right here
Its the light in my eyes
Its perfection and grace
Its the smile on my face
Tonight when I chase the dragon
The water will change to cherry wine
And the silver will turn to gold
Time out of mind

Fire Dragon
Crack and sparkling fireworks in the night sky
In the overflow
Surely the fire dragon stays tumbling about
Oleander is blooming
Morning is coming from the horizon
The muddy glasses are taken out from the ground
Among the mountains
The fire dragon is tumbling about
Matched game aims for one
But the square root of one is not merely one
The bloody clothes are taken out from the ground
Between the people
Surely the fire dragon stays tumbling about
It comes disappearing and appearing
In the flood of time
Muggy Dragon
muggy day
dragon day
muggy dragon day
in the mud
dragons play
on this muddy, muggy, dragon day
murky water dragon slips
under surface, under ships
rocking them slightly
scaring them wildly
laughing silently
blowing bubbles
surfacing flying
immune to dying
dreading the isolation
that's bound to come

Saint George
The dragon, taller than a tree,
Looked down on George's head,
While he looked up uncertainly
And fighting first his dread...
He stood his ground, not one step back,
As faith within him grew,
For while he knew that things looked black,
He had to see this through...
The dragon stood his ground as well,
Though George held high his sword...
The dragon, thought to come from Hell,
Perhaps with fire stored...
The dragon had no flames and yet
He knew George planned his death,
Yet thought he had no need to fret,
If George no more had breath...
The dragon swished his giant tail,
But George was wise to that
And proved himself an agile male
Instead of falling flat...
The tail passed by, his sword went in,
The dragon roared in pain
And when George saw his chance to win,
He pierced the tail again...
If dragons cursed and dragons swore,
That must have happened next,
As blood then spurted out for sure,
With that big dragon vexed...
He dragged his dragon's tail away
As fast as he then could
And then decided, come what may,
To kill small George real good...
But George was quick to cut things short,
He climbed the dragon's tail
And valiantly he fought and fought
The dragon tooth and nail...
Across the back, just like a hill,
He clambered to the hilt,
Upto the neck where he stayed still,
In hopes the beast was killed...
The dragon twisted left and right,
But George drew back his sword
And then he thrust with all his might,
So death would be assured...
The dragon gulped with bloodied mouth,
A glaze then filled his eyes,
Then suddenly his frame fell South,
With him cut down to size...
The dragon laid upon the ground,
While George climbed down nearby,
The dragon made a gurgling sound,
As if to ask him why...
The dragon hadn't sought this duel,
Yet George had blocked his path,
The dragon thought he was a fool
Who'd signed his epitaph...
The dragon's teeth were then removed
When he no longer breathed
And while folks cheered with courage proved,
George stood there quite relieved...
The villagers were quite impressed,
That brave George didn't faint...
The Church declared his noble quest
As worthy of a saint...
A patron saint, of course, is rare,
Yet England still recalls
His courage thought beyond compare
That it's still taught in schools...

Red Dragon
Of a great red dragon,
Having seven heads and ten horns;
Of a great red dragon,
Having seven crowns upon her heads;
But, the twenty-four Elders need peace at their seats.
Of the red dragon,
Like the time of the dead!
And there arose a smoke out of the pit,
For she who is with a child is labouringh in pain;
And the red dragon is ready to take up the child!

Deep Into The Dragon's Eyes
Look deep into the dragon's eyes
Fear not the sulphrous breath
Tis he who within… courage lies
Who needs have no fear of death
The essence of the dragon dwells
In things mundane and rare
in raiment rich, and plain as well
Not seen...but always there
It's adversity, perversity in life
Most things we'd prefer not face
It's unpleasant, things, papery wings
Things of discomfort and ill grace
Tis best to face, the dreaded test
To beard the dragon where it lies
Defeat the beast, inside it's nest
Look deep into the dragon's eyes
