Starlight

Up to the sky
I'm just only a little star
My faint color seen from a far
Loyal to love the night
I am not the brightest one
But i share the light
In my simple poem
Talking about you and me
Reason why this poem was written
In a paper, but in heart you will not be forgotten

Honor of Deed

Raised to place their values in 'things'.
And the superficialness of looks,
With the best of false pretensions.

Very few of them have sacrificed their lives,
In the honor of deed.
Without proceeding that 'development'
With the asking for payment,
Or if an hourly fee for their activity was involved.

None would find time available.
If certain desires are not met.
And the few who are...
Available,
Busy themselves for critique,
And fashion!
AND may spend all day perfecting the 'look'!
As if in ceremony.
To welcome their own 'gorgeousness'.

No one would roll up their sleeves.
To sweat for free and purpose?
Even though the act of that,
Would aid in their survival!

These folks would rather be clothed...
Dressed to 'the nines'.
Seen strolling on urban streets looking healthy and 'fine'.
Or at least giving that perception.
Although in reality...
Many thought it distasteful to share.
Or beg for anything to eat!
If that was not done...
Like everthing done they do,
In discreet!

Note:

Dressed to the 'nines' was an expression
said in 'the day' when Black folks, Negroes...
African Americans, if you will, would dress
as if to impress and flaunt their looks. Primarily
in urban centers. Saving their best attire for Sunday.
In a respect that has drastically diminished over the years.
Today...
More are concerned with babysitting idealogies of the past.
As if not to offend the existence of disrespect.
With a condoned neglect and an acceptance of ignorance!

Of course this is an opinion...
many can not seem to erase from the 'clarity' of observation!
As well as other tragic signs of those living in denial.

Like a star I shine,
I shine among many and still feel special.

I shine and know i have accomplished my mission.

and realize it is worth my time.

I know that Im a diamond
But you dont gotta treat me like one

And Im about as real as they come

You forgot the to color yellow
For sun shine's glow
Paint again and allow
Sign of sacrifice to grow

Paint also the rainbow

On human faces

Each color represents significance
Not realized by all at once

Since the day that the lord set me on fire
i have had a desire to acquire the knowledge of my messiah,

The Winners Are Always The Heroes

The winners are always the heroes in life it is always this way
The losers are quickly forgotten though a fine and sporting
game they did play
'Tis only a sport it may well seem where people chase after a ball
But many take football quite seriously though 'tis only a game after all,
The winners are always the heroes and that's how it always will be
The fans of the winners are singing rejoicing in their victory
Life and sports are akin in many ways though some may say 'tis only a game
The winners get all of the applause and the winners can bask in their fame,
The winners are always the heroes and the winners get all of the praise
And always only to the winners the toasters their toasting glasses raise
The losers are quickly forgotten though some must lose for some to win
Yet some look on losing as shameful to them there is no greater sin,
In life as in sport the poor losers are the people the masses ignore
And in football the really big hero is the one who kicks the winning score.

The Bespoke Suit

That bespoke suit it looked grand so beaut
It adorned this guy drinking alone at the bar,
Would he sell it, that smashing suit
Indeed if only, I'd feel like a rising star,

Such a fine cut of pure merino wool
With a blue hanky peeping from his top pocket.
I turned my head an' he was gone leaving my mind to mull,
I ran to the door his car took off like a rocket,

Looking at my poor excuse of a suit so so raggy,
A week fly's by bespoke in my dreams never ending,
Love will never come with my trousers so baggy.
I see a girl stroking that bespoke suit...dreams keep sending,

Well blow me down with a feather there he stands again at the bar,
'Hello there my names John I think your suit is so bespoke,
Would you sell it to me to shine my star, '
'Gimme' double what I paid then it's yours no joke'

A sum agreed an' I put the cash in his hand quick smart,
Within an hour adorned with that bespoke my soul begins to soften,
My life anew dressed so fine lady luck about to start.
Standing at THAT bar a Marilyn Monroe type strokes my suit and says

'Do you come here often? '
