Moon, you have a shade of blue tonight –
Is it something that you saw or heard?
Only yesterday, your tone was proud and bright,
Yellow silver, full, and so assured.
Moon, despite the clarity of sky,
Metaphors of cloud that fluff with grey
Drift across your rounded face to spy;
Feeding back, there's awfully much to say.
Moon, you have a role to play up there –
We below must bear the earthly pain.
Duty bound, we shoulder sorrows fair –
You are free from our grotesque disdain.
Moon, we depend on you to shine
When the sun retires down below.
Add to that your grandest role divine:
Tidal Lord, to keep the seas in tow!
Moon, I hope you take to heart our plea –

Moon's Tears
Moon shines down onto Earth
But does she ever really shine?
Or does she just reflect Sun’s light
A sad excuse for originality
Always trying
Never succeeding
To cast her own rays
Coming and going
Offering mystery, hope, light
Staying for a few short hours
Leaving much too soon
Although she struggles to break free of the trap of reflected rays
She’s content
With her lot in life
Even though she can’t make her own light
Nobody will gaze up at Sun in wonderment
That is something reserved for Moon
Sun and Moon work together
Like brother and sister
Fighting every once and a while
But loving each other nonetheless
The end result being a beautiful light

Some Relationships Defy Explanation
As I espy the moon peep from the palm fronds,
I can’t help but feel glad and with joy respond.
I remember, since the time I was just a little kid,
The sight of the full moon used to make me limpid.
It casts a spell and I just spellbound, stare and halt.
My heart kind of leaps and does a somersault.
In the Zen like stillness of the early winter night,
I just find myself gaze at its face silvery bright.
Whenever I visited my granny, she used to regale
Us, as we lay on her lap, with so many magical tales.
One was about an old woman spinning a wheel,
On the moon, oh, how wonderstruck I used to feel.
Although, science has tried to demystify
Yet, I somehow, still continue to identify
With it, and my sense of elation and relation
honestly, I admit defies any kind of explanation…
