Reluctant Traveler
Reluctant traveler
Morning driving through the vast plateau of Spain, cowboys in their sheep skin coats
are ready to ride out to Inspect the heard, It is cold the horses are rearing to gallop.
On a hillock the outline of a big black bull, underneath is written “Sandman’s sherry.”
The sign is held by wires and looks like a malapropos in morning light. Cattle’s grazing
did they spend the night standing up resting, listening out for wolves or other
predatory animals? The driver tells us we are going to stop in a town too irrelevant to
remember. The breakfast is an insult I ask for fried eggs and bacon by the time they
are ready the coach is ready to leave. Hasty breakfast but I managed to have a pee.
A flask of rum and coke, I have made some notes, taken a few picture, I drink fall
asleep, when I wake up we are in France and a new morning has arrived. I have never
been to France before, only at airports passing trough, this is a dreary little border
town and it surprise me that their inhabitances have not fled. The café is lousy, stale
bread with jam. I get into an argument with the rude staff, my wife comes and saves
the day. I Paris we are met by a Jewish gentleman who wants me to read my poems,
In defense of Palestine, In Norwegian and I’m the only Scandinavian in the room. I do
the readings, hate Paris, and take the first bus back home to Portugal.

For The Happy Housemaid...
early morning
the housemaid turns on the radio
in full volume that the
neighbors know that
she is already awake
and cooking breakfast
the house smells fried
egg and bacon and
steamed rice
when i come out my room
she smiles and
turns off the radio and
says that breakfast is
ready
only to be told that
no one likes to eat breakfast
(unlike the two the housemaid
likes it much to eat all these matters
alone by herself,
she is attuned like a loud radio
early morning
and she does not mind what
the housemaids' neighbors say)

I'm Ready To Go.
I'm ready to go.
Take me to heaven.
I'm ready to go.
End my suffering.
I'm ready to go.
Let me stop all this blubbering.
I can't help anyone.
Wish I could.
The grave of the good.
As much as I need to know whats not understood.
Conclusions so sour sometime I wish you would.
I'm ready to go.
Take me to heaven.
I'm ready to go.
End my suffering.
I'm ready to go.
Let me stop all this blubbering.
I've look into the abyss so many times before.
This time their is no going back.
Me and the angel of the death have a contract.
With blood as the ink it has been signed and sealed.
I'm sorry but I no longer want to feel.
I'm ready to go.
Take me to heaven.
I'm ready to go.
End my suffering.
I'm ready to go.
Let me stop all this blubbering.
My emotions ride me like a hound.
Biting at my heels.
A heart that isn't real.
Watch as another layer of skin I peel.
I stand then kneel.
I'm ready to go.
Take me to heaven.
I'm ready to go.
End my suffering.
I'm ready to go.
Let me stop all this blubbering.
Wishing for something I can never have.
Denied the right as stars shoot across the twilight.
Beating myself up on the inside.
I'm so ready to so ready to die.
I'm so ready to sail the skies.
I'm ready to go.
Take me to heaven.
I'm ready to go.
End my suffering.
I'm ready to go.
Let me stop all this blubbering.
But something won't let me.
A conscience.
A destiny.
Thoughts of the angry.
They pour into me.
It should be my choice.
A echoing of my voice.
I'm ready to go.
Take me to heaven.
I'm ready to go.
End my suffering.
I'm ready to go.
Let me stop all this blubbering.
I'm ready to go.
Take me to heaven.
I'm ready to go.
End my suffering.
I'm ready to go.
Let me stop all this blubbering.

A Weepy
A weepy movie.
I have been watching a movie on TV, a love story about a girl named Sabrina. I fall for
it every time; yes, I know the technicality of filming but still believe the story. Yes,
I know it is about upper class love, the chauffeur’s daughter, and the son of the house.
They end up in Paris, where else? Nothing mundane about the film, like, can I afford
a flight ticket to Paris? Money problem kills love. Last year my wife and I took a coach
to Paris 36 hours– we are divorced now-. We spent so much time finding a place to
eat and sleep we had little time to see the sights. Saw the Eiffel tower though, you
could build a ship with all that iron. It disturbed me, the Unknown Soldier’s grave;
eternal flame. Soldiers died for business interests and the lust for power. Wish this
was the only truth, fact is young men like killing each other, they just need someone
to say it’s legal. In Paris I read poetry in defense of the Palestinians, for an audience
of Jewish people, but since they didn’t understand Norwegian they applauded.
For a moment I was a star on the firmament of vanity. I will not be back to Paris again,
less I can afford to drink a bottle of expensive wine.

I Hate Getting Up For School (Petrarchan Sonnet)
I hate waking up for school
Having to get ready at 7 in the morning
Having to eat when my stomach is upset
Having to get ready when I don’t want to go
Having to be quiet so I don’t wake anyone
Having to ride my bike in the cold
Having to sign in for school
Having to try and get through endless days
I’m sick of this and yet
Nothing I can do though
Getting up when there’s no sun
Having to wake early and get
My coat and gloves for weather worthy of snow
School however, has won.

Back Street Driver
Written by ricky & marty wilde
[note: these lyrics are not as accurate as may be expected. they were all deciphered by me, through listening hard to the song. if there are official lyrics out there, let me know.]
Oh oh oh
Oh oh oh
Oh oh oh
Oh oh oh
Well here Im going
Im on the road again
Back street driving
I wanna go again
Oh oh oh
Oh oh oh
Anytime you go I get so blue
Anytime I have I wanna spend with you
Hitch a ride I take a train (gotta go)
Any road just means the same (cos you know)
Anyway I wanna get to you
Well the wheels keep turning
Im on the move again
Gotta keep turning
Im really going again
Oh oh oh
Oh oh oh
Im not a back street driver
I gotta let you know
Back street driving
I really wanna go
Oh oh oh
Oh oh oh
One night we stood beneath the stars
You said the rebels always aint that far
Wrap it up and here I go (gotta go)
Shoot the chance Im ready to roll (cos you know)
Gonna ride on through the night with you
Well here Im going
Im on the road again
Back street driving
I wanna go again
Oh oh oh
Oh oh oh
Im not a back street driver
Im just a back staying driver
Said oh oh oh
Oh oh oh
Wrap it up and here I go (gotta go)
Shoot the chance Im ready to roll (cos you know)
Gonna ride on through the night to you
Well here Im going
Im on the road again
Back street driving
I gotta go again
Oh oh oh
Oh oh oh
Im not a back street driver
Im just a back staying driver
Said oh oh oh

Cycle Of My Life
wake up in the morning
remembering some dreams
take a walk in the oval
and come back for breakfast
then take a bath
dress myself
then go to the office for work
the whole day is spent
within the walls and closed glass windows
then come back for home
eat dinner
pray and sleep to bed
dream and at dawn have little sex
with wife
and sleep again and wake up in the morning
and take a walk and take breakfast and
back to the office again.

Father
Father, blessed father,
Its morning again.
I give you, father, myself, father,
Continue your plan.
I know together we can climb mountains in the sky.
No one can stop us when Im standing by your side.
Troubles knocking here again;
Ill tell him jesus has me by his hand.
Hell walk me through.
Father, loving father,
Create in me
A pure love, father, your love, father,
Instill it in me.
I remember the nights Ive cried for you;
Now I only have to die for you;
Thank you, lord, youve made it clear just for me.
I see the light;
Its burning out the night.
Oh, father,
Its morning.
Morning.
Morning.
Morning.
Morning.
Morning.
Morning.
Morning.
Morning.
Morning.
Morning.
Morning.
Morning.
Morning.
Morning.
Morning.
Morning.
Morning.

Breakfast Is Ready
(7: 45 in the morning)
to choose between a
hot breakfast ready on the table
and finishing another poem
i choose the breakfast
together with my wife
this poem can be suspended
in time
and become another unfinished
act of creation
by a man wanting to fill this
world with poems
after a while
when i have my fill and when
i make some nice conversations with my wife
and my dog beside the table
looking at me
for a piece of fried pork
when the sipping of coffee is over
when i finally wipe my
chin with the sky blue napkin
when i consider
eating as finally over
as promised
i will come back again
and finish this poem
and there is something
nice in this
act of creation
you feel it
it is warm like the hand of
a beautiful woman
it is as hot as ever
like this wanton desire
lovely,
as lovely as you love each letter
of the word
of your poetry
i am feeling it in the bone
of my soul

Ready For The Rain
Early in the morning, before the daylight
I hear the sound of thunder, comin through in the night
I lie awake and I wonder , where my life is goin
Am I on a road leadin nowhere, theres no way of knowin
cause Ive seen the lightning
And Im ready for the rain to fall
Now Im standin on a mountain, lookin into the sky
I see the clouds come rollin in, water fills my eyes
I dont know whats in the future, no one can say
Dont wanna think about the past, Ive gotta live for today
cause Ive seen the lightnin now
I need to find my own way, while Ive still got time
And Im ready for the rain to fall
cause Ive heard the thunder
And Im ready for the rain to fall
Im ready, ready for the rain
Ive got to rise above it all
And get ready for the rain to fall
Did you ever know someone, who had lost their way
Built their own little kingdom, and just blew it all away
Im not ashamed to admit it, that someone was me
Im gonna look to the future now, cause Ive set myself free
And Ive seen the lightnin
Im gonna set myself free, while Ive still got time
Get ready for the rain to fall
cause Ive heard the thunder
And Im ready for the rain to fall
Im ready, ready for the rain
Ive got to rise above it all
And get ready for the rain to fall, while Ive still got time....

The Young Woman From Paris In France
The one with brown eyes and brown hair her Hometown is Paris in France
She has such a sweet singing voice and to music she loves to dance
She is in her twenty fourth year and happy in her single life
For some very lucky young man she will make a beautiful wife.
Her accent is easy to love like the lilt to a beautiful song
Of her voice one never could tire I'd listen to her all day long
To this Town she's like a breath of fresh air not many French people live here
Except for the rare tourist who stop for a break from travel I meet one perhaps once a year.
She has such an old World charm and she has such a beautiful face
And she doesn't find it hard for to smile a woman of charm and grace
'Twould be nice if here she did settle but in our Town I know she won't stay
The young woman from Paris in France from home she is so far away.
She says she will go home next year in beautiful May of the Spring
In the green parks of Paris in France she will hear the birds whistle and sing
And on the verandah of her old home with family and friends out of the glare of the sunshine
She will sing along in the sing song as she enjoys a glass of good French made wine.

Ride Cowboy Ride
Up in the morning at the break of day
You'll hear a big bearded cowboy at the chuck wagon say
"Gather 'round boys, the coffee's hot on the fire
There's a full day of branding, we're heating the iron
I want to smell that scorched hair and burning hide
The horses have grain boys, they're ready to ride
Roll up your bed rolls and jump in your boots
Daylight is a-wastin', boys, it's out of the shoots"
Come on and ride, cowboy, ride
Roll up your riatas and pull your sombreros down tight
We're going to ride, ride, ride where the trail will wind
You'd better drive, drive, drive or we'll leave you behind
Come on and ride, ride, ride, cowboy, ride
It's a beautiful morning and you've had a good rest
You ropers get ready to be at your best
Saddle them ponies and tighten the cinch (Yahoo!)
Pull on your gloves and take your hat off the fence
We'll take the cattle to market, and after they're sold
You can all let your hair down, get lazy or bold
Riding to town to find a lady or two
She'll take you by the arms and shake the dust off your boots
Come on and ride, cowboy, ride
Roll up your riatas and pull your sombreros down tight
We're going to ride, ride, ride where the trail will wind
You'd better drive, drive, drive or we'll leave you behind
Come on and ride, ride, ride, cowboy, ride
Come on and ride, cowboy, ride
Roll up your riatas and pull your sombreros down tight
We're going to ride, ride, ride where the trail will wind
You'd better drive, drive, drive or we'll leave you behind
Come on and ride, ride, ride, cowboy, ride

Baby Get Lost
Leonard feather
Well good morning baby welcome back to town
Howd, fine papa, welcome back to town
Youre doing so much travelling never know
When youll be around
Youre a fine and mellow fellow
But youre stubborn as a mule
You love me like an angel
But you treat me like a fool
Two-faced daddy dont hand me no doublecross
Youll see any time Im ready
I can tell you baby get lost
Youre cheating on the outside
Doing anything you choose
You better come back on the inside
cause you got too much to lose
Dont want no trouble Ive got to be the boss
And if you cant play it my way
Well now baby get lost
I try to stop your cheating
But I just dont have the time
cause I got so many men that
Theyre standing right in line
Keep cool papa, you got to corne across
cause any time Im ready, yes any time Im ready
You know when Im ready
I can tell you baby get lost
Why dont you get lost

Libby
(carly simon)
If all our flights are grounded
Libby, well meet in paris
Dance along the boulevards
And have no one to embarrass,
Puttin on the ritz in style
With an arab and an heiress,
Libby well fly away - hey
Leave behind our blues
Trade them all in
For a paris breeze.
Libby well fly
See how dark the circles grow
In a town that has no light
So many eyes just staring out
Into the bloodshot night
And libby, I hate you to cry, and i
Want to share it all with you,
And if it brings us to our knees
Well trade it all in for a paris breeze.
Libby well fly.
They say it dont come easy
They say that love is blind
And if youre afraid to be close
Then love is hard to find
And if you spend too much time winning love
Theres no time to be kind
And libby, Im guilty of your crimes,
Im just another passenger.
Travelling on these crazy high seas
Very likely be the same
In a paris breeze,
Libby well fly
If all our flights are grounded,
Libby, well go to paris
And wish we were back home again
Or sailing on the ocean
Just a window and a drink
To set our dreams in motion
But libby, well fly anyway, hey
And leave behind our blues
Half sung melodies
Trade them all in for a paris breeze,
Libby well fly.

Good Morning, Good Morning
Nothing to do to save his life call his wife in
Nothing to say but what a day how's your boy been
Nothing to do it's up to you
I've got nothing to say but it's o.k.
Good morning, good morning...
Going to work don't want to go feeling low down
Heading for home you start to roam then you're in town
Everybody knows there's nothing doing
Everything is closed it's like a ruin
Everyone you see is half asleep.
And you're on your own you're in the street
Good morning, good morning...
After a while you start to smile now you feel cool.
Then you decide to take a walk by the old school.
Nothing has changed it's still the same
I've got nothing to say but it's o.k.
Good morning, good morning...
People running round it's five o'clock.
Everywhere in town is getting dark.
Everyone you see is full of life.
It's time for tea and meet the wife.
Somebody needs to know the time, glad that i'm here.
Watching the skirts you start to flirt now you're in gear.
Go to a show you hope she goes.
I've got nothing to say but it's o.k.
Good morning, good morning...

The Young & The Old
Whoa oh
Staggering home everybody sings
All the old songs the cockney routines
All the old women, all the young men
Try changing places then back again
Old man in the morning,
Young man at night
Breakfast full of wisdom
Until you hit the lights
Knock back the drinks , hitch up your skirt
Fall over backwords undo your shirt
Everyone shouting what a terrible state
Age creeping backwards as it gets late
Old man in the morning,
Young man at night
Breakfast full of wisdom
Until you hit the lights
Have a quick short, forget about work
Have a couple more then you go beserk
Who cares about this morning, wise old man
The wisdom comes up later and goes down the pan
Old man in the morning,
Young man at night
Breakfast full of wisdom
Until you hit the lights
Then another round, forget whos turn
Waking up to feel your stomach churn
Whos in the chair and whos on the floor
Incoherants knocking on the door
Old man in the morning,
Young man at night
Breakfast full of wisdom
Until you hit the lights
Hit the lights

Togetherness Is Gone
My wife,
Stop cleaning the house
Please come here
To accompany me
My husband,
The house is dirty
We aren't able to pay the maid
You've already retired
My wife,
Don't cook
It's a holiday
Let us eat outside the home
My husband,
Don't eat outdoors
We need efficient
You've already retired
My wife,
Let's keep me company
Why the rush to sleep
It's still early
My husband,
I have to get up early
To clean the house
And prepare breakfast
My wife,
I have to go this morning
My friends were waiting
Long we don't meet
My husband,
Be careful on the road
Greetings for your friends
But, why not breakfast?
My wife,
You have fallen asleep last night
I see you sleeping soundly all
I don't have the heart to wake you
My husband,
I'm sorry
I don't welcome you home
But, why should sleep on the sofa?
My wife,
I have to go again
I have social activities
With my old friends
My husband,
Don't forget dinner at home
You look very dapper
Although not wear perfume
My wife,
sorry, we were very busy
I had dinner with friends
Happy dinner, dear
My husband,
I woke up too early
But you're not at home
Where are you?
My wife,
I came home at midnight
I have to go early in the morning
I don't have the heart to wake you
My husband,
I just finished washing clothes
I've found the clothes that you wear today
But, why the smell of perfume?

Endlessly Yours....
he promised to stop writing
poems,
waste of time he says
he breaks promises he has time to waste
so much time because the words keep coming
and it is giving him
all the pleasures
and when he reads what he had written last night
the following morning
when everyone is still asleep and when the kitchen does not have
any sound
of a fried egg or a whistling pot
he feels the hunger again
and there he is
eating poetry for breakfast
munching the words
chewing what he is in there
brewing
like strong coffee
that soon makes his heart palpitate
like drums
of the natives
recently capturing their first human meal
with all these facts at hand
how can he ever stop?
