Silent Night

After the smoke clears
When it's down to you and I
When the sun appears
And there's nothing left but goodbyes
We'll just turn and walk away
How could we let it end like this
Just turn and walk away
Should we seal it with a kiss

It's too late
Now you're out and on the run
It's too late
Held up in love without a gun

Silent night
We hold up our candle light
Silent night
The night our love died

Dont Turn Away

(coverdale/sykes)
You say your dreams are burned to ashes
And your smiles have turned to tears,
It seems to me you welcome sanest
As you surrender to your fears
So whats a man like me supposed to do
When all I want is just to make love to you
Dont turn away, before the night is over
Dont turn away, before the night is gone
Dont turn away, the night may hold the answer
So dont turn away, before the night,
Before the night is gone
You say your heart is lost forever
And youre always gonna give your love in vain
So you paint yourself a lonely portrait
And hide your love away again
You turn away from what you feel inside,
You cant forget all your foolish pride
Dont turn away, before the night is over
Dont turn away, before the night is gone
Dont turn away, the night may hold the answer
So dont turn away, before the night is gone
So now Im asking you this question
Am I gonna give you all my love in vain
Do you wanna drown in your own sorrow
Or are you gonna try to love again
Dont turn away from what you feel inside,
You should try to forget about all your foolish pride
Dont turn away, before the night is over
Dont turn away, before the night is gone
Dont turn away, the night may hold the answer
So dont turn away, before the night,
Before the night,
Before the night is gone
Dont turn away from me baby,
No, no, no, no.
Dont put me away,
Dont walk away from me darling
I need your love,
Oh baby,
I need your love to rescue me,
An Im coming for you, baby...

Walk

You and I are out for a walk with the dog.

The night is as silent as a log.

The trees blow eerily in the wind.

The moon is as bright as ice.

Right now I feel the urge to take your hand.

Yuck my dog just ate a slug.

This gives me an excuse to ask you for a hug.

We walk by the houses that are so bright.

Its hard to think that they are a part of the night.

I try to stay close to you as we turn right.

Oh no my dog just saw a bunch of squirrels.

You hold his leash tight to keep the dog from going on his travels.

I feel like I could always listen to you talk.

All of this is what I love about this kind of walk.

Someone just wrote my joy on the road in chalk.

If only you knew how much this walk ment.

I would like to walk with you until the world ran out of cement.

We decided though to walk 4 miles to the end of the pavement.

Im A Small & Lonely Light

(farrar/best)
The stairs are dark and silent
The morning cold and gray
A last look at the things I knew
And slowly turn away
And as I watch the scenery unwind
My childhood slips a hundred miles behind
Leave the bus in houston
Walk around the town
But all the strange, unfriendly faces
Seem to get me down
And in the park where little children play
I sit and watch the dying of the day
Im a small and lonely light
A bird thats lost in flight
And its too late at night to go home
Im a tall and weary kite
A face thats out of sight
And its too late at night to go home
Always had the good life
Never felt unsure
But now the good lifes not enough
There must be something more
And so I sit and shiver in the dawn
And watch the world and wait to be reborn
Im a small and lonely light
A bird thats lost in flight
And its too late at night to go home
Im a tall and weary kite
A face thats out of sight
And its too late at night to go home
Too late at night to go home
But Ive talked too long my friend

Late Night Radio

This song appears on two albums, and was first released on the windsong album, and has also been released on the changes album.
Theres lonely hearts in arkansas
Theres truckers in des moines
All there to keep me company in the early morn
A world unknown to daytime
Is forever going on
The airwaves of the nation
Between midnight and the dawn
Late night radio
Take it everywhere I go
My best friend when Im lonely
Is my late night radio
Well I turn the dial
A little bit past one-o-one point two
In time to catch the news
And see whos shooting who
Then I hunt around for old songs
Theyre so good to hear again
To think of how it was
Imagine how it might have been
Late night radio
Take it everywhere I go
My best friend when Im lonely
Is my late night radio
La la la I sing along
cause I never know the words
La la la la la la la la
Id love to call a talk show
But I havent got the nerve
La la la oh oh oh radio
The lord is still my shepherd
But these preachers got to go
This time of night my interest
Lies in u.f.o.s
So I turn the dial a little
Past fifty-six point three
To find myself a lullaby
To rock me off to sleep
Late night radio
Take it everywhere I go
My best friend when Im lonely
Is my late night radio
Late night radio
Take it everywhere I go
My best friend when Im lonely
Is my late night radio

Silent Night...

Silent night, our discovery night
When concentration was limited to our world
The passion was embraced by the night
And we spoke our minds without a spoken word.

Silent night, our wanton night
A night of sneaky, invisible touches
Your touch illuminated an emotional light
Especially your sweet, silent smooches.

Silent night, when we had our sweet fight
How could I forget that sweet harassment?
When your kisses took me to a greater height
And your embrace gave me a life imprisonment.

Silent night, a night so long
We interacted with just our hands
Your full-lips tickled my searching tongue
With your smooches, love confirmed my plans.

Silent night, our special night
It wasn’t by money, but by might
Crying in silence, we were drowned in delight
With silent kisses, we maximized our silent night.

Alfred Lord Tennyson

Late, Late, So Late

Late, late, so late! and dark the night and chill!
Late, late, so late! but we can enter still.
Too late, too late! ye cannot enter now.
No light had we: for that we do repent;
And learning this, the bridegroom will relent.
Too late, too late! ye cannot enter now.
No light: so late! and dark and chill the night!
O, let us in, that we may find the light!
Too late, too late: ye cannot enter now.

Have we not heard the bridgegroom is so sweet?
O, let us in, tho' late, to kiss his feet!
No, no, too late! ye cannot enter now."

Its Over

(words & music by rodgers)
If time were not a moving thing
And I could make it stay
This hour of love we share
Would always be
Thered be no coming day
To shine a morning light
And make us realize our night is over
When you walk away from me
There is no place to put my hand
Except to shade my eyes against the sun
That rises over the land
I watch you walk away
Somehow I have to let you go
Cause its over
If you knew just how I really feel
You might return and yet
There are so many times
That people have to love and then forget
Oh there might have been a way somehow
I have to force myself to say
Its over
So I turn my back,
Turn my collar to the wind
Move along in silence
Trying not to think at all
I set my feet before me
Walk the silent street before me
Now its over
If time were not a moving thing
And I could make you stay
This hour of love we share
Would always be
Thered be no coming day
To shine a morning light
And make us realize our night is over
Its over

For JOY

NOW THAT you have grown older
do not shy away from the possibility that happiness can still be
within the hold of your hands
that your lips can still be red and all alive
for the next kiss
no matter how late love
can be,

do not look back
you might fall to the past that
keeps on pulling you
to the arms of
grief

It was not at all your fault that the flower
of love wilted
too early

He was the sun that came at the wrong time
and did not notice
how sweet can you be
at sunset

Now, another moon has noticed
the beauty of your
petals
the sweetest scent that only comes
when the night is
deep and
so silent

Walk under its light
feel the warmth of its rays
close your eyes and feel
once again
how love can be stronger and sweeter
after the first pain

Come, Night...

come, night...
night of the holy,
open arms outstretched,
wrapping all that hurts
and burns in cooling blackness.
come, night,
night of the candle lit,
of the curtains blown,
of the silent whispers.
come, night,
night of the glass upturned,
of the laughter of comrades,
of the talking of the eyes.
come, night,
night of the bodies wrapped,
the tongues electric,
the hardness and the wetness.
come, night,
night of quiet reflection,
of soulful introspection,
of prayer beyond words.
come, night,
night of sleep eternal,
of the wind that leaves the body,
and searches the depths of emptiness.
come, night...
let us walk!

Here With Me

Maybe its too late but this feelin is runnin through my soul
I think I learned what love is but Im afraid I let it go
Maybe its too late, maybe youve already changed your mind
Turned lovin into leavin and Im on the outside
You cant take these words to bed with you and hold onto them at night
They cant erase the emptiness and make everything alright
But your laughter and your tenderness will never disappear
No matter where you are tonight a part of you is here with me
Here with me, I dont know where you are, all I know is I need you to be
Here with me, I know its not to late, to turn around and get it straight
Its not fate to have you here with me
I can hear your voice promising your love will never die
I can feel your golden skin on mine beneath the desert sky
So how can it be true, how can you just turn and let me go
Let the story of your life with mine forever go untold
I cant take these words to bed with me and hold onto them at night
They cant erase the emptiness and make everything alright
Cause your laughter and your tenderness will never disappear
No matter where you are tonight a part of you is here with me
Here with me, I dont know where you are, all I know is I need you to be
Here with me, I know its not too late, to turn around and get it straight
Its not fate to have you here with me

Old Flames Cant Hold A Candle To You

Downtown tonight, I saw an old friend, someone who
I use to take comfort from long before I met you
I caught a spark from his eyes of forgotten desire
With a word, or a touch, I could have rekindled that fire
Old flames cant hold a candle to you
No one can light up the night like you do
Flickering embers of love
Ive known one or two
But old flames cant hold a candle to you
Sometimes at night, I think of old lovers Ive known
I remember how holding them helped me not feel so alone
Then I feel you beside me and even their memories are gone
Like stars in the night lost in the sweet light of dawn
Old flames cant hold a candle to you
No one can light up the night like you do
Flickering embers of love
Ive known one or two
But old flames cant hold a candle to you
Old flames cant hold a candle to you
Mmmm...

Walk Away

Lord shes handsome as she flows across the floor
Nothing Ive seen in my life has ever pleased me more
Shes got the look of freedom, and it makes you think shes wild
But I can see right through it all, its the way to have a child
Oh, walk away
Shes looking to love you
Theres nothing to say
Just turn your head and walk away
Walk away, walk on
She moves in sunlight, never seen the night at all
Like a star in the midnight sky, burns before it falls
Ive never been lonely, and I cant imagine why
Maybe she could be the one to tell me, I guess its do or die
Cant see her fire
But I can feel her heat, all right!
Its rising higher
Im walking the wire
Walk on by!
Oh! walk away!
Shes looking to love you
Theres nothing to say
Just turn your head and walk away
Oh, walk on by, walk away!
Walk on!
Youll feel her fire, shell lift you higher
But dont be fooled! just turn your head and walk away!

A Night With You

When I Pick you up, I tell myself I am going to enjoy this night with you,
When we Sit across from each other at dinner, I tell myself I'm enjoying this night with you,
When you hold my hand and we sit and talk, I tell myself I'm enjoying this night with you,
When you are out there on the dance floor I'm watching you move so elegant and sexy, I tell myself I'm enjoying this night with you,
When I come up behind you and turn you around, you look at me with them passion blue eyes, I tell myself I'm enjoying this night with you,
When you kiss me so softly with your sexy silky lip, I tell myself I'm enjoying this night with you,
When it time to take you home I tell myself I'm enjoying this night with you,
When you kiss me good night and I watch you walk away, I tell myself I'm enjoying this night with you,
When I driving home I think to myself, how I enjoy my night with you,
When I laying in bed, wishing that I can enjoy the rest of my night with you,
When I woke up in the morning I realize what just happen, that I just enjoy the most wonderful night with you.

Rings Around The Moon

Rings around the moon
(written by b. r. & m. gibb)
If youre lonely in the black of night
If you call me, Ill be there
I was falling and you helped me get it right
And I thank you girl, and I thank you
And I pray for the sign
And I wont be too late
If you just come down
I can look you in the eye
I can tell you that I love you
And my love will never die
And its time that you know
Just how far I mean to go
We fly rings around the moon
We fly rings around the moon
We fly rings around the moon
We fly rings around the moon
Come tomorrow, candle burns
And I wake up by your side
All my sorrow, you made it disappear
And I thank you, and I thank you
And I lay down my life
And I wont be alone
If you just take time
And be sure of who you are
We can take it up to heaven
We can walk amongst the stars
And I know if you stay
I will never turn away
We fly rings around the moon
We fly rings around the moon
We fly rings around the moon
We fly rings around the moon
And I pray for the sign
And I wont be too late
If you just take time
And be sure of who you are
We can take it up to heaven
We can walk amongst the stars
And I know if you stay
I will never turn away
We fly rings around the moon
We fly rings around the moon
We fly rings around the moon
We fly rings around the moon

Dum Vivimus Vigilemus

TURN out more ale, turn up the light;
I will not go to bed to-night.
Of all the foes that man should dread
The first and worst one is a bed.
Friends I have had both old and young,
And ale we drank and songs we sung:
Enough you know when this is said,
That, one and all,—they died in bed.
In bed they died and I ’ll not go
Where all my friends have perished so.
Go you who glad would buried be,
But not to-night a bed for me.

For me to-night no bed prepare,
But set me out my oaken chair.
And bid no other guests beside
The ghosts that shall around me glide;
In curling smoke-wreaths I shall see
A fair and gentle company.
Though silent all, rare revellers they,
Who leave you not till break of day.
Go you who would not daylight see,
But not to-night a bed for me:
For I ’ve been born and I ’ve been wed—
All of man’s peril comes of bed.

And I ’ll not seek—whate’er befall—
Him who unbidden comes to all.
A grewsome guest, a lean-jawed wight—
God send he do not come to-night!
But if he do, to claim his own,
He shall not find me lying prone;
But blithely, bravely, sitting up,
And raising high the stirrup-cup.
Then if you find a pipe unfilled,
An empty chair, the brown ale spilled;
Well may you know, though naught be said,
That I ’ve been borne away to bed.

We Fell In Love Anyway

The moon wasn't shinning,
The stars weren't bright.
It was a rainy,
Late autumn night.
Just two old friends,
A little cafe
No false intentions,
To get in our way.
The wine wasn't flowing,
No candle light
I had no plans,
For you in my life.
There was no music,
No magic at play
But we fell in love
Anyway.
We fell in love,
In spite of the night,
So cold
And dark.
We fell in love,
The moment we touched.
I stole a kiss,
You stole my heart.
Who would believe it,
remembering how,
I didn't long to hold you
The way I do now.
I bless the heavens
each night I pray,
We fell in love
Anyway.
We fell in love
Anyway...

Silent Night (feat. Cormac Breatnach & Martin Dunlea)

Silent night, holy night!
All is calm, all is bright.
Round yon Virgin, Mother and Child.
Holy infant so tender and mild,
Sleep in heavenly peace,
Sleep in heavenly peace.
Silent night, holy night!
Shepherds quake at the sight.
Glories stream from heaven afar
Heavenly hosts sing Alleluia,
Christ the Savior is born!
Christ the Savior is born.
Silent night, holy night!
Silent night, holy night!
Son of God love's pure light.
Radiant beams from Thy holy face
With dawn of redeeming grace,
Jesus Lord, at Thy birth.
Jesus Lord, at Thy birth.
Silent night, holy night!
Silent night, holy night!

Forget (I Was A Man)

if i turn away,
and close the window.
if i close my eyes,
and close my heart.
if i choose to believe
that nothing leaves nothing.
if i walk into
the darkness of the night.

if i give away,
everything i clung to.
if i break the glass,
and burn down the candle.
if i quit praying,
quit looking for answers.
if i turn the key,
and bolt the door.

and if i deny
what i know to be true.
if i go silent,
and never write again.
if i take the wind,
and turn it to stone...
will you forget you loved me,
forget i was a man?
